The Roasted Oak is a coffee shop located in the southeast corner of the lobby of The Lodge at Gulf State Park, which is by Hilton Hotel. They've got coffee, expresso, lattes, hand crafted cocktails, canned beers, a wine bar, as well as boards, dips, sandwiches, paninis, and desserts. There's no seating here but it's a few feet away from the lovely expansive veranda with one of the prettiest Gulf views across the dunes on the beaches of Gulf Shores. Tables and chairs there as well as Adirondack chairs with side tables is a great place to enjoy a hot or cold latte, s ack or cocktail while taking in the great scenery. Cooler months it's also a great place to grab a drink and sit by the fire or catch a fabulous sunrise over the beach. Bottom line: Good coffee, lattes and choice cocktails with a very friendly staff with reasonable prices and great views. Roasted Oak was located inside the Hilton's Lodge at Gulf State Park. It was perfect! Our room had coffee, but I moseyed down there for a stronger and large cup of coffee. Upon arriving, I saw so many delicious breakfast pastries and heard the sounds of a busy coffee bar. Customer service was so wonderful!! I ordered an Americano and a savory pastry; however, I came back before leaving to order a mocha and some sweets (cookie, pumpkin bread and a chocolate marble bread). There is a bar area and the coffee shop overlooks the Gulf waters. There was some outdoor seating, too! The coffee was made perfectly and I got my fill from their yummy treats. Be sure to visit this coffee shop, if you're in the area or staying at the hotel. It's good stuff! It's up there on my list of favorite coffee shops.

    Pops taking a break

A macchiato with caramel. Can not beat the view. You can hear the waves crashing. Coffee seems like it might not be very strong, but it's perfect for people who like blonde coffee. You have to park in the hotels parking lot, but it's worth the short walk up the walkway to left-hand side of the hotel.

Great little coffee spot at the Lodge at Gulf State Park. Nice rocking chairs on deck outside to sit at and enjoy the view of the dunes.

Placed that then came back, since it was late afternoon and we were going on a dolphin cruise soon, we just had appetizers. We ordered drinks the Bushwacker and a Classic Margarita. Yeh, the Bushwacker should have a warning, highly addictive! It was like a milkshake with alcohol! Tasty!! The margarita was well made also. Our appetizers were the 4 pieces coconut shrimp and the pita bread chips with spinach dip. Both really yummy and good portion size, too. As I started with, we got there late afternoon and it wasn't real busy so I can't say how loud it might be in the evenings or how long of a wait if it was busy. But we decided we will go back before we leave Gulf Shores.

Although, they have good happy hour choices. And, during certain times of the year, they have good daily specials. It's just kind of frustrating they don't offer the daily specials throughout the whole year. They take them away, when tourists are in abundance. So, I only go to the Beach House Kitchen at happy hour times and when they offer their daily specials. Even though it's closest to my condo, I can find better food and better deals down the road (throughout the entire year!)

First things first: parking. It's limited and easy to miss, so keep an eye out. The restaurant itself is cozy--only two tables inside plus a small bar. If you're coming with a group larger than four, the outdoor picnic tables are definitely your best bet. They offer $10 wine bottle specials, which we, of course, took full advantage of. The staff was warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They moved us inside as soon as a table opened up--and that's exactly when an emergency occurred. A guest tripped on the stairs while leaving, and the team had to call an ambulance. Despite the situation, the staff stayed calm, efficient, and compassionate. They managed the emergency, continued serving guests, and our food still arrived promptly. The dishes were flavorful and authentic, portions were generous, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. We'll definitely be back.

If you know you are going to have a pretty substantial wait going into it, then you can prepare yourself. There are shops and outdoor seats to occupy you a bit. The food is consistently good. That is what my friends wanted so it's the first place I thought of to go. But their non-seafood loving teenager was thrilled the salad bar had salad and rolls and pasta salad. She was so full of that, she could only eat one of her chicken fingers. We had the oyster sampler platter. I have always loved being able to make my own cocktail sauce. Friends got the appetizer sampler with popcorn shrimp and fried pickles and one more thing i can't remember right now, but it was also a hit. My husband's grouper was huge. We left with several to go boxes. We will be back!
