The farm sits at 2 acres and boasts a variety of fruit trees, some bee boxes, a small flower garden, and a very well stocked farmstand. The stand has a variety of in-season fruits and vegetables, starter plants and herbs (they had tomatoes and strawberries when I visited in April), and a bunch of locally made and seasonal goods. Not everything comes from the farm, but they source from other farms in the Bay Area and state, and local businesses. They also work with local businesses to use their produce for fun products like jams, cocktail mixers, and dried fruits. They have tours and events at the farm, we got a tour when we went and it was really cool to learn all about the history, see the different fruit trees, and then of course visit the farmstand after and shop around.

If you live in the Almaden or Branham area, it's such a cool little hidden gem and definitely worth stopping by. The fruit looked super fresh, though the prices are higher than I expected, more like Whole Foods level prices. I thought going straight to the source would mean much lower prices, but what you lose in price, you definitely gain in freshness. For example, their strawberries were $5 per little green basket (three for $15), which comes out to about $5 a pound. At Costco, organic strawberries are $5.49 for 2 pounds, roughly $2.75 per pound. The giant seeded watermelons were $12.49 here, compared to $6.49 at Walmart. (Suggestions from a visitor) A couple of friendly suggestions that I think would be really helpful: It would be great if they posted online what fruit is in season and what will be at the stand, along with the prices. That way people can plan ahead and know when to make the drive when their favorite fruits are available. Also, there are no signs letting customers know they can go in the back. I only knew because I saw pictures on Yelp. Locals who've been here before probably already know, but as a first-timer, it looked like an employee-only area so I didn't go back there. A simple sign would be awesome, it would bring more people to the back to sit, eat, and enjoy the space since most fruit stands don't have that nice extra feature. Overall, worth visiting if you don't mind paying a bit more for freshness.

We found a really nice one today in the 5 foot to 6 foot range. The price for that size is $89.99. I found an employee to help us pick up the tree and do a fresh cut on the bottom of the trunk. They also netted the tree for a $5.00 charge. Netting helps make it easier to get the tree into the car or for the top of the car. You can also get your tree flocked for an extra fee. They also sell concentrated tree preservative for $5.00, which is not a bad price. They charge a 3.9% surcharge for credit card purchases. So if you want to avoid that, bring cash. They have free hot chocolate for the customers, which is very nice. I appreciate the kind and helpful customer service. They will help you find what you are looking for and help prep your tree for your ride home.

When it's not a pumpkin patch, the lot gets used for other things - such as Xmas trees. I've been here a few times over the years with various groups. Entrance prices are relatively decent, but ride prices can rack up quickly - especially if you have multiple kids. There are plenty of things to see/do even if not participating in the rides. Staff is usually very friendly. I think they've added on some games for the kids over the years, such as the water ball one. The maze is always fun to get lost in and the hayride offers views within the corn fields. The petting zoo has some cute animals. There's a small cafe area in the middle of everything where you can grab some snacks/food. If you're here on a weekday expecting less of a crowd, there are school tours going around and may be more packed than expected.

Guadalupe River Park Conservancy hosted another Pumpkins in the Park at Discovery Meadow in…read moredowntown San Jose last Saturday. This was our second time to this event and we were glad to see some improvements. This year, there were more booths for children. Through the educational and fun activities, you got to learn about the salmons in the Guadalupe River, the importance of eating vegetables, make scary spiders, decorate pumpkins, etc. They even brought out the giant Monopoly pieces for anyone to play. It was fun rooting for the little ones as they mustered their strength to roll those big dice that were each twice the size of the kid. Closer to the music stage, there was a mini straw bale maze for tots. Very cute! All aboard that colorful choo-choo train in front of Children's Discovery Museum and rode around the park. It's good to be a kid. The "carnival game alley" was a great addition but very congested with all the kids, parents and strollers concentrated in one area. As popular as it was, for next year, they should consider allocating more space so the kids could wait safely in line for the games. There were also beautiful hand blown glass pumpkins by local artists for sale. But these fragile pieces got me worried a little with so many little hands reaching to touch them. This was not a full blown pumpkin patch but it did the job for the younger ones and still a fun-filled event. Most of all, it was free to enter. The only issue was probably finding parking. I would recommend taking the light rail. Stress-free (one less thing to worry about for the parents) and it brings you to the front door of Children's Discovery Museum and Discovery Meadow where they hold the annual Pumpkins in the Park.

All the kids had so much fun running around and exploring. They also had little animal statues that the kids loved. They had a good selection of food trucks with yummy food. Here's a quick list of some of the stuff we saw: -Free parking for the festival -4H Club had Pig Painting, Seed Planting and a Petting Zoo! -SJ Libraries promotin' learnin', and such truck... -Pumpkin Carving and Painting -Our City Forest with tree planting tips -Smokey the Bear!!!! -County Parks and the Valley Open Space Preserve were there to hand out flyers, talk about their parks and encourage people to hike! -Multiple Food Trucks: Oh, Miso Hungry, Cookies & Cream, Smoked Out BBQ & Waffles Amore -Plenty of restrooms -Pumpkin Bowling!!! -"Cattle" roping & branding! -Live bands -Face painting -Organic Farming display by Jacobs Farms. In fact all the Pumpkins at the Festival were provided by Jacobs Farms--so kudos to them for that! I'm not usually a fan of festivals, but this one is different: it's mostly free and heavily promotes outdoor activities --which I'm all for.
