The portion was generous, flavorful, and satisfying. Best of all, it still cost less than a typical combo meal at a chain restaurant. Their menu overall is incredibly affordable. They offer daily 99-cent specials from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a limit of 10, and their daily combo burrito special for under $6 is tough to beat these days. The staff was friendly, service was quick, and the food tasted fresh. The restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, with Mexican music playing in the background that added to the atmosphere. I also appreciate supporting local businesses, and Pepito's is definitely a place I plan to visit more often. Pepito's was on my list to try. So we decided to stop in for some grub. Hubby got the Asada burrito combo with fries and drink. I got the enchilada and taco combo with a drink. Service was friendly and fast. Food was nice and hot. The inside of the restaurant is super clean and well maintained as well as the outside. Which is always nice to see! The food is not anywhere close to the best but not the worst Mexican food we've had. The one thing that wasn't good was the red salsa. Had zero flavor and it was super watery. Food is ok, service is NOT good. My sister and I are visiting from Arizona and we stopped here to eat. I wanted to go to Jose's Mexican Food off of Redlands Blvd in Redlands where the food is delicious and the service is ALWAYS great, but my sister wanted Pepito's. It's unfortunate that the experience was not good. Not only were we rushed but we were in the middle of biting our taco and the cashier lady interrupted it us told us they were closing we needed leave as they were locking the doors. Lily told us 30 minutes for 3 ground beef tacos because she has too many tickets for drive thru and then we asked if we could get out table cleaned and she threw the rag on the table and did one wipe, missing most of the table. I've been a customer of Pepitos since 1976. The original owners sold out a few years ago to another family who have tried to maintain the original recipes. A new building was built on the site, also. The ALL PORK WITH CHEESE BURRITOS AND PORK DIP WITH CHIPS has always been my favorite. I've found nothing like their pork recipe anywhere else. Chunks of pork in a thick cumin and green chili gravy. Depending on who cooks it, it has varying degrees of hotness. You can see the little red pepper flakes in the gravy, sometimes. The tacos, tequitos, enchiladas, chili rellenos are yummy, too. I've introduced many friends to Pepitos who love it. I love the 'specials days' for lots of tacos, corn dogs, fries. On Saturday, you can mix them up! Great place. read more

Waited in drive through from order to food about an hour, I get they are busy but waiting that long is just ridiculous, once you're in drive thru line there is no way to get out. When my order was take the girl kept saying I can't hear u and the speaker was hard to understand her. It was very annoying the girl seemed to have attitude too. what I did order the order was incorrect when I got to window. I was so fed up once I got my food I said never mind. As for experience I will not be going back, not taking correct orders and the waiting shows a lack of competence and not staffing appropriate. For the best shredded beef tacos for the price. Pepito's in Highland on Baseline & Victoria Avenue is the place to go specially on Wednesdays when they're only a dollar each all day. If you have a big family, the best time to go is on Saturday between 1-4 pm they have all their dollar specials. It gets a little crowded, but it's worth the wait. The restaurant was very clean, so I was hopeful after entering. I approached the counter to order and asked the cashier (as I always do when I eat at a new restaurant) "What do you like to eat here?" Her response was that she doesn't eat there. Shocked and on a time limit, I quickly looked over the menu and decided on a combo: taco, enchilada, and tamal. Does the menu tell you what fillings are in them? No. Does it tell you if it comes with sides? No. Do the staff know if it comes with sides? No. The cashier found out for me it includes rice and beans, I requested all rice. My food was ready a few minutes later. The taco was only item I finished. It had some sort of shredded beef and was pan-fried crispy. The tamal had an unknown meat/sauce inside which was terrible, I took two bites and couldn't stomach any more of it.
