As far as Mexican food goes, Pepe's at Jindalee are really quite decent. I use the word decent because any food place (in general) that has the 'kids eat free' attached to it is alright with me. Pepe's has it on Monday nights - woohoo. Even though a nuggets and chips will set you back $7 here, it's still awesome they get it free, and a drink with it double woohoo and crayons and colouring paper triple woohoo (that will definetely keep the suckers busy for at least 30 minutes so I can eat). It's a pretty decent sized meal, they season their medium sized chips with some sort of peri peri non spicy seasoning and the nuggets are biggish too as nuggets go, but they taste kind of processed from a box is all. I had the Taquito's (arriba arrrrriiiiba) in the entree size which was $12.50 (bit expensive as it's just 2 deep fried soft taco sized shells rolled up with chicken in them on a bed of cheese, lettuce and 2 dips (french onion, warm 5/5 lick the bowl clean and a salsa 3/5 bit watery lots left over). I also had the chicken and avocado salad, it was in a pretty big bowl, with lots of seasoned chicken on it, the chicken was really yummy! The salad was too, but it was $18 so a little expensive as well. For the 1 kids meal, 1 adults meal, an entree and 2 drinks it came to just under $50 (not a Monday where kids eat free, a Tuesday). It's hot, it's Mexican, the ingredients are really fresh, you have to try it despite the price.

Initially I was reluctant to try out this Mexican restaurant in Jindalee for two main reasons; 1. I've had plenty of bad Mexican food in the past and 2. It's based in a suburban neighbourhood. I am quite choosey when it comes to Mexican restaurants and the fact that this was located in the suburbs made me think it was of lower standard to those based in the inner city areas. I couldn't have been more wrong! The food, quality and service were brilliant. From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly and helpful. They went through the menus with us and made some recommendations. The food we order most of the time is the 'Chimichanga' and their 'Enchilada'. If you bring children here and they are not yet fans of Mexican cuisine, they do serve kid-friendly meals like 'Hot Dogs' and 'Chicken Nuggets & Chips' It's best to take advantage of their daily deals on offer. For example, Monday nights, kids eat and drink free. There is a deal from Monday to Friday which is perfect for treating the family to after work.

Deconstructed nachos. So good. So damn goooood.

This was very disappointing. Food was poorly presented and tasted very ordinary. Will not be returning. Service was ok.

Initially I was really impressed, particularly with the Mexican beers on offer and a waiter who was familiar with the majority. Food was prompt but excellent - particularly for Mexican restaurants which I often find can be fairly underwhelming with the authenticity of their food. I was barely able to finish my meal which was a very generous serving. Unfortunately the experience was let down by discovering late in the night that almost all the beers we'd consumed were well past their expiry dates (some by more than six months!). Whilst realising that unlike food, this is unlikely to be too much of an issue, it was still enough to put a dampener on the evening. Even after that they would have received a four-star review, but for the staff who responded by Googling "out of date beer" and assuring us we wouldn't get sick from the search results, but still not offering any remedy on the bill until basically being told we weren't prepared to pay for expired beers. They also tried blaming their suppliers - not a concern for your customers. A lesson to be learned there - apologise and propose a suitable resolution rather than defend and come up with excuses. People will be reasonable so long as they don't feel like they're being shafted.

There are awesome little mocktails and cocktails, you order drinks from the bar. I like this place because of the music, the staff and the mexican rice. I've had mexican rice in my time, but for some reason the rice at the Taringa Montezuma's is top of the line tastey, zingy, and they must put something in it, because I can't get enough. Plus, if you download a voucher on the website, you get a free dip to go with your free chips if you order 2 main meals. Meals are great, they range from $15-$20 usually and the Taquito's are crispy little delights you can't go past. If you are after a Mexican place that won't hurt your brain, try Montezuma's in Taringa, it's got easy parking in the complex, it's got a very relaxed laid back atmosphere and it has a killer chilli con carne. Value for money and definetely a place you can bring your family. Even fit a pram into. Try it, get your taste buds excited, drool a little when the burrito comes out, soak up your cocktail. It's a great place for a great dinner (usually a bit dead during lunch times).

Tacos are $6 each, or grab two for $10. Trust me, you can't just have one... they might have other 'especials' so look at what the board says. My husband and I shared two tacos between us (I know, I said you can't have just one... I still mean it), and an agua fresca. He had the Beef Juan/Beef Barbacoa, and I had the Tacos de Calabacitas/Veggie taco. Oh my goodness, the veggie taco was NOM-nom! It takes a lot to impress me with vegetarian Mexican stuff, but these guys were genius having those roasted peptides in the mix -- it gave it the whooop! Out front of the ordering/pick up window is a shelf of bottled hot sauces. Yes they have Tabasco, but please, please, don't pick that up. Try the Cholula, ok? Seriously, give them a go...

Since moving here I've been searching for a place that makes legit tacos. I am so happy that I found this place, and they have amazing prices (for Australia that is, I'm still getting used to the difference). AND they have Horchata, which is a delicious cinnamon rice water, and Jacaima, which is super refreshing. I ordered the Beef Juan, which originally came with pico de gallo and salsa verde, but substituted that for white onion, cilantro, and salsa roja (my favorite). The best part is that they even include a lime! You really can't have too much lime. After eating one taco I went for another. Can't wait to eat here again! I really really recommend this place. Best tacos around.
