The food was appalling in every way. The $21.00 meal I was served up consisted of two taco shells cold beans and a mountain of lettuce and a slight dribble of sauce and a sprinkle of cheese. Sadly the even the lettuce was stale. The drink that was served was flat and so returned but was replaced by yet another flat drink. The service was slow and the place looked grubby and poorly maintained. The price of the menu was just over the top - given the quality of the food was so poor and that the menu did not match what was served. Really this place is a disaster and I cannot understand how it it is still in business. Unfortunately there is nothing good to say about this place other than maybe that it is in a good location. If you enjoy Mexican you will be better off staying clear of this place - it is definitely not a quality restaurant. I don't even like to describe it as a restaurant because it is more a place that sells nasty food at very expensive prices.

We saw the Ramekins sign from the street and quickly looked it up to find several very favourable reviews. Sold! We ordered at the counter inside (very cute decor) and took our table number outside to sit in the sunshine while we waited. I had: Eggs Benedict with bacon. Served on a thick piece of toasted Turkish bread and drizzled with tangy hollandaise. It was delicious. He had: breakfast burger. I didn't get a chance to try it before it was demolished but the review was definitely positive. After we devoured our savoury breakfasts, sweets were on the brain so we ordered a butterscotch muffin. You have a choice of butter or cream - we chose cream. Our muffin arrived piping hot with a miniature mug of heavy whipped cream on the side. It was absolutely sinful. Ramekins Cafe is definitely a must-try if in the area!

It is fresh, plentiful, and always leaves me satisfied. The menu is likewise large, there is always something else to try, I don't feel constricted to get the same thing every visit like a lot of places with that 'One hit wonder'. It's got something everyone is looking for from the health freaks, calorie conscious eaters, to the protein lovers who enjoy a heaping meat and eggs for breakfast.. or lunch! The price is more than reasonable for the amount and quality that is placed in front of you, and not only is it a pleasure to consume the food, the atmosphere created by the upbeat, friendly staff (even at 7am) makes a trip to Ramekins even better. This locally eatery cannot be passed up and I recommend every local try it, if you haven't already.

Texan who grew up on TexMex and authentic Mexican food here...Going to give honest review of what I…read moretry today. I have been disappointed with Aussie Mex so far, but these place feels a little more legit than the other Mex I tried in the Gold Coast and should be better than Guzzies. I was quickly escorted off to my table and provided still water to drink. The ambiance of this place definitely reminds me of many places I've been in both Mexico and Texas. So far, so good. I ordered a Suprema Margarita to drink with Chile con queso as the appetizer. The margarita (on the rocks) came in a margarita glass, so doing good so far (the other place served it in a martini glass). Very tasty and perfectly prepared. Doing great Pepe's! The chili con queso came and was served with chips, as expected. Although the texture of the queso was more like sour cream than actual queso dip should be, the taste was decent. I ate plenty of it, so the weird fluffy texture didn't phase me too much. This can be better. Note to the cooks: try to look up a copycat recipe for Torchys Tacos queso - that stuff is epic. Fajitas came out sizzling. Smelling good, with a big plate of stuff to use to prepare some tacos. The beef was seasoned well, although not a typical fajita taste to me, was good and almost had some spicy heat to it, almost. The four tortillas, or wraps as y'all call them here, weren't warm or served in a stay warm container, be were folded into fours. They were much larger than I expected, as well. You can tell these weren't made in house, but tasted like just good ole fashioned flour tortillas out of a bag. The guacamole was very good. I was skeptical since the menu said it had pistachios, but good job. The pico de gallo, needed some umph. More lemon/lime juice (not sure if any was in there), a chili pepper, and more cilantro (coriander). The salsa verde was the star. Reminded me of my own. I need more of this. The cheese was perfect and actually more shredded cheese than I'm used to having, so that was a pleasant surprise. In closing, if you're in Brisbane and either missing Mexican food, like I was, or want to try something new, I'd give this spot a shot. Pretty good job, with obvious differences that may just be ingredient availability or regional palette differences. The last question is WHY ISN'T CHICKEN ENCHILADAS VERDES on the menu?!? You have that amazing green sauce, show it off! This would be probably a 4 star review back home in Texas, but it for sure deserves more than that here in Australia. 5 stars, baaaaabyyyyy.

This is definitely one of the closest to authentic Mexican Restaurants you will find in Australia - trust me I have tried VERY many. All of the food comes out fresh and deliciously seasoned. The el lote (corn) was fantastic in flavor! The fajitas also were wonderful. They have a huge selection of items to choose from including drinks. Highly recommend giving them a try! It was definitely worth the drive up from the Gold Coast.

I have never eaten at GYG and didn't know what I was doing when ordering as the menu I have to order off is the screens which flick over every 15seconds so really hard to order from the screens. I asked about a paper copy but was told GYG don't have them. I told the gentleman I didn't know how to order and I got nothing. I managed to order something and I had a gift card which I recieved for christmas. I was quite distressed after ordering as I got no help or guidance from the Customer Service Officer that had NO IDEA. When it came time to pay I asked how do I use this gift card I got "I don't know and then he just stood there waiting for me to figure this out. So my exciting trip to GYG for the first time was ruined by this Customer Service Wanker. Sorry for my language but he really was a poor representation of this company. So he didn't k ow what to do. Meanwhile I am trying to swipe or scan with no luck and the Customer service officer is doing nothing offering no help and I lost it I had to ask him for a manager. A manager came up and I was really angry and upset. I told her what happened. Her name was Bree. She honestly was amazing able to turn around my mood explained things to me on how to order and was extremely helpful. I was really upset as I don't lose my shit in public but this guy went and stood elsewhere and whilst the manager was very kindly helping me and sorting the payment and adding sweetener to coffee. This gentleman/boy stood at the landing zone laughing thinking it was all a funny joke. I called him out in front of the resturant. I was mortified by his behaviour and extremely upset with myself that I let him get to me so much. By the end I was telling Bree that I was having a great day until him and that I was on the verge of tears for letting myself get riled up. But that was how USELESS and rude and disresptful and unhelpful Customer Service Officer I have ever encountered in my 46years. I need to reiterate that the new manager that had been there for 3 days was amazing. Her name was Bree and at least she was able to make me feel welcomed and not a nuisance for serving me. Thank you Bree. As for the gentleman he is a disgusting representation of GYG and needs serious retraining.

Maybe I'm just getting spoiled for choice with the amazing food that Brisbane is starting to get but on each occasion I've had food from here it has been bland and tasteless. I've had the Chilli which left my mouth feeling oily and the burritos which even my hubby agreed where so lacking in taste even smothering them in hot sauce couldn't salvage them. I so want to like this place, the great little bar, jenga on the tables and good food prices would make it a perfect place to catch up with friends. The food however totally lets it down. Overall I'd say the Burrito Bar is worth another visit.
