I have been a patron of Pepe's for the past twenty-plus years. I am a Pepe's loyalist and enthusiast. I love Pepe's. I love it and I always will. So, I say all of this with a large outpouring of love. Pepe's has pulled possibly the biggest okey doke of all time. I'll explain. It was the end of the summer when I happened to be in Haughton and driving down the highway here, saw Pepe's from afar. And wow, from this distance and a rather high rate of speed, I saw at a glance, that Pepe's had changed. Like, it had a makeover. An extreme makeover. Pepe's of old was this comfortable, homey, free-standing yellow building with a very tiny interior located next to a strip mall. As I zipped by at summer's end, I could see that the yellow building was no longer, but that it appeared Pepe's had taken new residence within the neighboring strip mall. What I saw in-person from the car, and later online, like here on Yelp, was this unbelievable transformation. The outside of this new location looked fabulous. They did it. They got a new place! I loved the old spot but they always needed more room, more space, no telling what else they've done? But I could never find any pics of the new interior. What's it look like now? Not even here on Yelp. The much-adored yellow building is gone! I want to see the new place. Guess I'll have to check it out myself. So I did. For dinner one night. Pulling up. I eagerly get out of the car. It does look great. Even better standing there. They have a new parking lot even. This is great! I walk in. It is the exact same restaurant. The exact same place and location. Nothing's changed, 'cause nothing ever did. It is the original location. It's not a new location. They have matched, blended and attached the exterior of the old Pepe's to the strip mall. That is it. It is not new, not larger, not expanded or remodeled or updated. It is the exact same Pepe's as it always was and is. It has not changed. Literally, lipstick on a pig. Literally. But it's s good thing I love pigs. What I don't love is their sky high dinner menu. Hardly anything under twenty bucks. I've always been more of a lunch guy here. And that's when I'll return. But it was quite jarring to walk into what I thought was going to be this brand new Pepe's 2.0, only to see the same old, tiny, old interior hitting me back in the face. Stop by Pepe's for lunch if you're on a budget and feeling sentimental. Ain't nothing changed here. It's the same ol' same ol'. Not that that's a bad thing. read more

Spent 25$ on 3 steak street tacos and a side of rice and beans. Steak taste freezer burnt, everything was cold, and they wouldn't include chips and hot sauce because " it's not a meal" on this to go order. The tacos were just thrown in the box. We love pepes and this experience has guaranteed we won't be back. The business has gone down hill rapidly along with the locations building. Ok... this is tough for me. Every time I come to Louisiana to I eat at PePe's at least 2-3 times. It is close to my family's house and it is my mother's favorite. I absolutely LOVE the salsa. It is always spicy, fresh, and delicious!!! No better salsa in town!! I love that they never change how spicy it is, no matter how many wusses cry to them! I also like the food here. The part that is difficult for me, is I love another Mexican restaurant a tad more. But that is only because they have the most amazing fajita plate that no one can beat. So if it wasn't for that fajita masterpiece, this place would definitely be my number #1!!! It's a small family style restaurant. There are 4-person table and chairs. A few TVs in the room if your interested. But it's all about the food here. As I mentioned, the chips and salsa are amazing!! I always fill up before I get my go to order of taco salad. I get mine with ground beef. I can never finish the whole thing, but that's mainly because I just drank a gallon of salsa. I went in to pepe's today and it the first time in many so many years, I've left unhappy. It was about 3:30pm so I guess I caught them between shifts? There were what looked like about 3 or 4 employees at a corner table, and 2 guest at one table when I went in. An older fellow got up and brought me a menu and took my drink order. He brought chips and dip and my drink. I sat there another 30 min and no order taken. I was by this time not happy with lack of service. So I paid for my drink, and left. I'll go down the street to a newer place and have my meal. Probably want be back to Pepe's for a while. read more

Yuck! Food was bland, sodas were flat, staff was non responsive. Overpriced. Will not be back.

They have a pretty good selection of items. The salsa is a little spicy if you're into that. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because, I wish they had a menu available online for to-go orders. I also think it would be a little easier on everyone if someone answered the phone understood what I was saying while ordering as also someone that I could understand. Stopped here for dinner on our way through Shreveport and was very pleasantly surprised. Small but cute venue and staff was courteous. Ordered Chicken Burrito. El Carbon, Chicken Enchiladas Supremas and the Fiesta Platter. Everything was delicious and the chips and salsa were also great. My only issue was the degree of heat but that wasn't their fault as I am an admitted lightweight when it comes to spicy food. Best Chicken Burrito Lunch I have found for $6 and change, you get a nice chicken burrito and refried beans, rice and a massive massive bag of chips with hot salsa. Food was okay. I spent almost $50 w/o tip for two people. No alcoholic drinks. I ordered the enchiladas supremas for $17 and b/c I wanted one beef and one chicken they charged me three more dollars calling it a "combo" while neglecting to tell me that when ordering. It was huge lots of food. But it didn't even look appetizing. It was hamburger meat cooked with a few onions. No other seasonings. I have been coming here since I was about 10yrs old, this is definitely a family favorite. It's is a hole-in-the-wall and sometimes a little crowded. The sauce is nice and spicy with a lot of flavor. The food is always great, with the exception of the queso, which is very bland. The service is always excellent. I was so impressed with their salsa and chips! I was told not to eat Mexican food in Bossier but took the chance anyway. The salsa was spicy and the chips were fresh. I ordered the puffy taco which is filled with carne molida and queso. I enjoyed it. My friend ordered the enchiladas and said they were fantastic.
