I had a wonderful experience here today. Jasmine, Deedee, and Bobby helped fix my flat tire, and were such nice people, even this close to closing time! I walked in the doors and got back into my car within a half hour. If you need to get your car serviced quickly and live somewhere near Tennessee St, I highly recommend. read more

Pep Boys - The nail in my tire - Tires Near Me - Tallahassee, Florida

I am extremely concerned about my experience with Pep Boys located at **1425 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304**. I brought my 2014 Ford Edge in primarily for brake and ABS issues. Before going to Pep Boys, the dealership had checked the vehicle, and another mechanic had recently changed the oil and replaced the brake pads. Neither indicated that my engine needed replacement. When I arrived at Pep Boys, the initial discussion was about repairing the brakes and ABS issue. Later that same day, I was told they discovered a crankshaft-related problem and that I needed an entirely new engine. This sudden change raised serious concerns. My dealership and warranty company also questioned the diagnosis, and the engine replacement has not been approved. I have contacted Pep Boys corporate and opened a formal complaint. I also spoke with a manager at the **Pep Boys location at 1425 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304** regarding my concerns. Unfortunately, I found the interaction very disappointing. During the conversation, the manager repeatedly talked over me, came across as forceful, and did not give me a fair opportunity to fully explain my concerns. I did not feel that my situation was being listened to or treated with the level of care, compassion, and professionalism that a customer should reasonably expect when dealing with a serious and potentially very expensive vehicle repair. My concern is not only about the engine diagnosis but also about how my concerns have been handled. When a customer is suddenly told that a vehicle needs an entire engine replacement, I believe management should be willing to listen, clearly explain the diagnosis, provide supporting documentation, and respond respectfully to reasonable questions. I have not authorized an engine replacement. I am having the vehicle moved to another repair facility for an independent diagnosis. I am also requesting that Pep Boys provide the exact diagnostic codes, testing procedures, inspection results, technician findings, and other documentation supporting the recommendation that my engine needs replacement. I am asking Pep Boys corporate to fully investigate both the diagnosis and the customer service I experienced at **1425 W Tennessee St, Tallahassee, FL 32304**. I would also like a clear explanation of how Pep Boys determined that an engine replacement was necessary when the vehicle was originally brought in for brake and ABS concerns and previous inspections had not identified the need for an engine replacement. I will update this complaint after receiving the independent diagnosis and Pep Boys corporate's response. read more

Guy who greeted me was super friendly, he greeted me and told me the price up front and his guy would be in at 8am to fix the tire, as that's when my appointment was. As of 9am the person still wasn't in. Such a bad experience I will never return. The lobby was disgusting with cockroaches running around visibly. read more

I had one of my worst experiences at an auto shop here. My 2017 Kia Forte had a Check Engine Light on. I brought it in, and they said I needed a new VVT solenoid. I went with their recommendation, paid for the part and service, and got my car back, only for the Check Engine Light to still be on with the same P0017 code. I inquired about why it wasn't fixed, and the explanation I got was highly improbable. They said my "sensors broke because the car had sitting from an oil change." That's not how cars work. Sensors do not break from sitting still, and P0017 does not mean anything with regard to a car that is parked. Rather than admitting a misdiagnosis or checking their work, they blamed me. I left and brought my vehicle to AutoZone, where they scanned it and said P0017 came up again - the same code came up immediately after I left them because nothing had changed since my fix, meaning they never repaired anything. Therefore, they did a subpar repair, provided a misleading excuse as to why it was further broken, and then set the blame on me without any justification. Therefore, I did not receive honest or competent services here. I would not recommend this location. read more

I came to this shop on March 22, 2025 to replace the tires on my truck. Not only did it take nearly four hours to complete a job they said would take an hour to do, but they also LOST MY KEY! The manager, Jim, promised he would reimburse me for the cost of the key replacement. I provided the receipt and he said he'd contact corporate to approve the reimbursement. I haven't heard anything since. DO NOT SHOP HERE if you value good customer service or honest work. If Pepboys corporate sees this, you need to replace Jim with a manager who actually cares about representing your brand well. I for one will NEVER use Pepboys again. read more

Awful experience. Jim the manager at the Tennessee st location. Is very rude. He doesn't know what is going on at his establishment. Doesn't know what he has been n inventory. And will flat out lie and not throw no twice about it. read more

My husband scheduled an appointment so I could take my daughter's car in for a tire check as it wasn't holding air. The appointment was at 9:30. I showed up, the place is pretty sketchy to begin with...windows busted/taped shut etc. I couldn't figure out how to get in and an employee kinda motioned for the door but didn't say a word. You have to walk into the garage area to get to the door and they definitely do not make it feel welcoming. I went in and explained my daughters tired needed to be check, possibly plugged, but we really weren't sure. He said, very rudely "tired check?" like I'd spoken a foreign language. So I went into more detail...and he cut me off said they had no plugs due to it being parents weekend. Huh? Couldn't even check it. Very rude. Unfortunately for them, I actually needed a new tire so they were out $$...fortunately for me I found a much nicer , safer place where my daughter could pick it up later in the day! read more

Nice Staff. Very great service. I purchase a tire back in March and the same tire just had a nail.I went there and got a replacement in less than an hour. Very quick and efficient. read more

Terrible customer service! Jim the manager was incredibly rude, unhelpful, and patronizing. I ordered two tires and no one there could tell me where the tires were or if they' were ordered. Not only was Jim Douglas impatient with me but when I told him how disappointed I was due to the lack of customer service, he became irrate. Do NOT spend your hard earned money here. The Apalachee location is much more worth your time. read more

My daughter is a student at FSU and was having some car battery issues. I was able to make the appointment at Pep Boys online for the next day. Her mechanic Dan was so helpful, kind and went out of his way to help her. It turned out to be something simple and there was no charge. I appreciate having a place to go where you can feel like our kids won't be taken advantage of. Thanks Dan! read more

This is referring to the Pep Boys on W. Tennessee St., right next to Florida State University. Warning to students and anyone who wants a repair on your car my son brought his car there for an alternator repair. They tried to charge him $619 for the same repair that would've cost $479 at two other local shops they told me they can't charge his battery and they told me his car wouldn't start. My son went there and picked up his car and drove it away. Total liars and snakes. read more

I don't recommend any purchase of tire from Pep Boys. They say they provide a tread warranty but actually they do not. Fraudulent advertising. I purchased four Cooper Adventurer tires in April 2021 which came with 75K tread warranty written in my invoice. However, the tires wore out quickly and I reached 2/32 tread level in less than 35K miles, not even the half of the life of the tire. I went to the Pep Boys shop that installed them on West Tennessee Str, Tallahassee to ask about how the tread warranty works. They told me that tread warranty only works if you purchase the Road Hazard protection on top of the purchase of the tires. I did not believe it so I called Pep Boys 1800 corporate hotline. The first agent confirmed my belief and said that the warranty does not require a road hazard purchase. He told me that an area manager would call me soon. Nobody did. I called back 1800 number back three days later and gave the agent my case number and told him that nobody had called me. This time the agent contradicted the first one said that the area manager rejected my case because I should have purchased the additional $78 road hazard warranty on top in order to have this tread warranty. Then I called Cooper Tires customer support line next. Their help desk said manufacturer tread warranty should be available without any additional purchase but added that this Adventurer model is produced by Cooper Tires solely for Pep Boys and thus Pep Boys is the listed manufacturer, so there was nothing they could do. I say this is total BS! In Pep Boys website "Road hazard" explanation explicitly states that it covers "mishaps" on the road, like metal, glass, nail etc. rupture of the tire, which can be repaired or the tire replaced for free. My issue was not a mishap at all. Normal usage of the tire and the tires are worn out less than half its supposed use and Pep Boys decline to honor their warranty. I don't recommend tire purchase from Pep Boys to anyone if you don't want to frauded. I will file a complaint to Better Business Bureau and Florida Dept of Agriculture for fraudulent advertisement. read more

Where are the negative stars? Had the worst auto service experience ever. Took my auto in because I had trouble starting it. They claimed I needed a new battery. I authorized it and was charged $299 including a $49 diagnostic fee. When I picked up the car I experienced the same problem The mechanic came out and said I needed a neutral safety switch. For this I was quoted $399 for OEM parts. Requested a price for a after market part. Never received a call beck despite follow up.Incidently a AC diagnosis was quoted @ $110. Contacted Pep Boys corporate to lodge my lodge my complaint of missed diagnosis . Two days later area mgr called me who seemed dismissive insisting that I received a new battery but would call back. A week later no call back. Contacted Firestone on Monroe and Mikes Garage was quoted $250 for the neutral safety switch and $20 for the AC diagnosis by Firestone. Even received call backs. Please make your own comparison when considering auto service read more

I was a concerned and skeptical father for my daughter in a college town to bring her car in for a repair by herself. Not that my daughter was not able or didn't know how or what her car needed. It is not secret that, at times, car repair facilities have been known to take financial advantage of young people. NOT HERE. Nitro and his crew were absolutely amazing and did an excellent job in helping us with a repair. This shop is professional and it is refreshing to see that they do not take advantage of people. This Pepboys is run by competent, friendly and helpful staff and management. I hope corporate gets to know how good they are. read more

They were so helpful. I got a flat a few days ago and when I went to get it fixed they were able to just take the tire and let me keep my car so I was able to run errands while I waited for them to patch it. When I came back it was patched and they were able to switch out the spare quickly for the fixed tire. They didn't even charge me! so sweet and helpful, made my day a lot better to have my real tire back. read more

An absolutely abysmal experience from this Pep Boys garage. It started off with total incompetence in the mechanical diagnostics and ended with an epic collapse in customer service. Just a perfect storm of customer dissatisfaction. I had my Audi A4 towed in with a dead battery. Diagnosis - battery was bad and needed to be replaced. The existing battery was 2 months old. I quizzed the service manager heavily that it was highly unusual for a new battery to be defective. He assured me the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. I have worked in a garage and I know what is involved in testing a battery. It is a brainless diagnostic test where you connect the battery leads to a test stand. No subjective interpretation involved; a printed report tells you the exact status of the battery (good, good but needs recharge, or bad). Five days after leaving the garage my battery is dead again. It was another extreme effort to get the car towed back into the garage. Guess what the diagnosis was?!?! - exactly, a bad battery. So, at this point I call back and say I want a refund on the $200 I paid for the original battery replacement. I am told they will look into it and get back to me. Didn't hear back from anyone. Three days later I call back again - "what's up?". Was told they will look into it and get back to me - nothing but crickets. Over the next 3 weeks I called 4 more times (that's 6 times over a 3-week period - never heard back a single time. So, I don't know how to advise future customer, other than to say that the mechanical capabilities of this garage, at the most fundamental level, are simply inept. And that the customer service is equally inept. This garage does not deserve to be in business. read more

Super nice and really good service! I scheduled an appointment to get new tires online and dropped my car off the next day. A couple of hours later I got a call back to go pick up my car and that was that. Everyone was so nice and helpful and it's was really easy! A couple of days after I went back to get my tires retorqued and it took literally 5 minutes. I didn't even have to get out of my car. Overall, very good service! read more

Mechanics don't know what their doing! My son took his car here due to a noise in the rear. He was told the wheel bearings were making noise. He picked up his car, crossed town and the noise was back.... He took it back and they tried telling him it was now the timing belt that was the problem. Luckily he read their BS and left. Took it to another mechanic and the PROBLEM was the DRIVESHAFT U JOINTS!!!!!! Any 1st year auto technician should have been able to know what the problem was by just listening to the noise!!! Spoke to the manager, this was a $500.00 error that they refused to fix. They took total advantage of a poor College kid! read more

This place is amazingly awful, I took my vehicle over there to get repaired, because when I was shopping online for reasonable prices. Their prices were good. Oh boy I wish I had read the reviews. I got my vehicle back worse than it went in. Their mechanics have don't seem know what they're doing. They need to be retrained. Please be careful, if you take your vehicle there. I ended up taking my vehicle to it's dealership and spent more money repairing what they had damaged.. read more

Matt (the assistant manager) was very quick and good with communicating what was all wrong with my truck.

My engine light came on so I had my car towed there after hours. I went in the mext morning to provide my information and they welcomed me with great service. They topped of my engine oil for no cost at all!! They were super nice and although they could not service my car, since the issue was greater than they could work on, I left with the next steps I should take for fixing my cars oil problem. I always come here for an oil change/tire rotation and they always provide great service at low costs and genuine attitudes :) Will definitely be back again and again. read more

If it could be less than one star then rest assured it would be. My daughter recently went to this establishment to get her oil changed. She's a college student but she knows what her car needs and always confirms with us before anything. Now mind you, pep boys is well known and trusted it because the training and stores should be the same just like south Florida and northern Tallahassee. Well that was not the case today when she went in for her routine oil change. She informed the gentleman in the front what she needed, simple conventional oil change as that is what we always get her. She was told no multiple times and with a straight forward face told her she needed full synthetic and that's all they do. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they sell conventional motor oil there so why would they lie to her straight faced. Totally unprofessional on their part and I will say condescending. They see a a young teenage girl and they expect them not to know any better and just agree to being finessed. It's upsetting because you begin to wonder how many more college students they ripping off stating they don't do any other oil changes except full synthetic. You can even see from the photo attached which is their location that indeed they do offer conventional oil change. Pep boys, you need to get the act together and for the manager that gets notified, if you care how this establishment is run, you will reach out. read more

Went there to get an estimate on new brake pads. When I said I would come back after getting the numbers they were pressing and unfriendly that I get it done right away. When I asked my friends dad what the estimate should have been it turned out to be $730 cheaper then what they were trying to have me pay. Rude and dishonest. read more

This is the typical ripoff (paying for a brand) with high prices and very low to no service. I took my sons vehicle there after purchasing it off Craigslist to have them check it out. I was told it needed a new oxygen sensor and the AC worked but wasn't blowing cold. I was told I needed to get a compressor. I was charged $943 and within 3 months the AC was not blowing cold again... I took it back to pep boys and was told " their was a leak in one of the tubes and that the entire thing needed to be replaced" when my husband called they told him it needed a compressor because the tube is not sold by itself...got a second opinion and turns out that the AC only needs a charge and they most likely never replaced the compressor the first time...avoid at all cost read more

Real professional team and took care of my wheel issue in a nice timely manner! Would pick over any other place in Tallahassee.

Great experience. One of my tires got a screw lodged into it. I set up an appointment online, brought the car in, the plugged it for free in less than 20 minutes. Lady at the front desk was super nice and you can tell she was a hard worker. The mechanic was very friendly. read more

This guy, Clint, made my day! I ran over a nail and my tire went flat so my boyfriend brought my tire in to get the nail removed and my tired plugged. When we went back to get it he just shook my boyfriend's hand and said "don't worry about it" meaning free of charge. It was so sweet, lol, but he didn't treat us like we were a hassle at all. i had a nightmare experience with these guys. They really don't care about their work and actually try to talk you down in the services they provide. I went in with a coupon that literally said on it applicable at all pep boys and they immediately say we aren't accepting those coupons. So i say fine can I still get a regular oil change and they say sure. so i go across the street to momos for an hour and a half and return. They tell me they can't work on my car because of a blue sealant on the oil pan they don't want to be responsible for if it breaks. I ask why didn't that call me the second they decided and they just shrug. so i say w.e and drive off. The following day Im in traffic in monroe and I smell fire coming out of my car. I pull over and I see oil spewing out of the top of my engine. The oil cap on the top of the engine wasn't replaced. So Im heated and I go back there cussin about, saying that they were negligent and coulda cost me some serious damage or even harm. They don't care. I demand them to replace the rubber engine belt covered in oil and detail the engine and they say the most we will do is hose it off. im livid and pep boys corporate tells me the 24 yo manager ive been constantly having to deal with will handle it so i give up on pep boys entirely, and i end up having my oil changed by tire plus down the street for 19 bucks no coupon necessary and no problems and the ford dealership gave my engine a detail cleaning. in short All pep boys are bad because they do their best to over charge you. This pep boys is reaaaaallly bad because they don't actually know what they are doing. read more

Went to this Pep Boys location this morning looking to fix the plastic protective covering under the front of my car. I snagged it on a parking barrier, and the bolt connecting it to my car had come loose, so the plastic piece was dragging the ground when I drove. I went to Pep Boys, not knowing if it was even something they would be able to fix, but thinking they might have an idea and could at least get a better look at the problem. Within 10 minutes of my being there, they reattached the part with some zip ties free of charge and sent me on my way. I could not be more pleased, and will definitely be returning should I face any problems in the future. read more

They are awful at communicating to the customers and between one another. I needed to replace a tire because one of the studs was broken and Walmart refused to touch it. So I go here after and I'm expecting a similar price and hoping they will actually be able to fix it. They take it and start working on it at 4. At 6, they call me to let me know that my alignment is about to fall off and the mechanic told me that he was not going to be able to put the new tire in because it was going to fall. So 5 minutes later, they call me up to pay and they're charging me $70.29 and I ask them for what? And the person checking me out urged me behind the counter for me to see and told me that they did replace the tire. But before I could say anything, he storms out and yells to his workers to put the old tire back and I quote "he has to go home." He then proceeds to put my old tire back on in less than ten minutes. I am stunned because it took them an hour to let me know that my alignment was broken and that they hadn't even put the new tire in yet. Overall, my experience was good up to that point, I think my only issue was with that specific person and their pettiness. However, a leader represents his crew and his actions were not pleasant. read more
