I've been here for an oil change and also to get some auto supplies. Pro's: - Great pricing for oil changes on their website through coupons - Can make appointments online - Auto supplies are what you expect - Honest service (if the wait is too long, they will tell you) Con's: - A little disorganized when I went today for an oil change. Didn't really give me much confidence that my oil change (as simple as that may be) would be done correctly. - The workers were a bit harried and stressed out. Turns out, one of their technicians went home because of a family emergency. (understandable) - Because they were stressed out, they didn't provide very good service. . - Also, when I arrive, I find out that they don't see my appointment in their system. So...there must be a glitch because when I got home, the screen on my computer still had the confirmation of my appointment. - They weren't able to keep the appointment I made online but offered to make an appointment for me the next day. One clerk stated that it would be perhaps a 45-60 min wait, then another tells me later that they cannot take me today because they didn't want me to wait so long. I appreciate that and the fact that they were experiencing a shortage in staff, so I understand; however I don't understand how their system lost my appointment. In any case, I decided to use Yelp and look up another oil change place and ended up at a competitor. Turned out great. Same price but done in 15-20 minutes. Much more organized so I feel like I can trust my car with those guys. Can't beat that! read more

These guys are not low cost and do not honor their low cost guarantee. Called to get a quote on replacing a rear wheel bearing. They were $150 higher than Les Schwab AND the dealerships. When I told him that he just said..."oh well." I'm sticking with Les Schwab. read more

Pep Boys has at some point decided to change their business model and stop selling parts and only have service centers. That in itself doesn't warrant a poor review, who knows why they did this but probably something about not making enough money at parts. At any rate I have been buying parts elsewhere lately, lots of options, but I am sad to see that happen since they were often the best deal. What makes me mad is I had a failed hub bearing that was lifetime warrantied, that I had purchased from Pep boys a few years ago. Tried to get that replaced and after half an hour of getting transferred around, finally ended up on a customer service line that was barely understandable due to the person barely speaking English and the connection being so poor. They explained the process to get the part warrantied is to reply to an email they sent providing details (including they want the original SKU on the box not just the receipt) and then I can mail it in, they will evaluate it and some time in the next month, if they deem it bad they will send me a new one. Provided everything is done correctly, meanwhile my vehicle can sit and wait for the part. Clearly this is an effort to make it so difficult that no one goes through the effort. I think I would prefer they at least had just started with telling me they have no intention of honoring their commitments. At any rate I will never use them again for anything and if this is how they run their business I strongly suggest you move on to use Oreilly or Autozone or someone else who at least backs up what the sell. read more

I went in to Pep boys to get my brake light fixed. (Brake light bulb was out) Mark in the service center came right out to my car and changed it in the parking lot for me! I could tell he was busy with associates asking him a variety of questions and he still made me a priority. He not only changed it on the spot but also showed me how to do it so next time I can do it with my extra bulb the pack comes with. I asked to pay for the service and he politely declined. When I dropped off my car for service it was professional. They told me the estimate of one day and completed the work in one day. I am fully satisfied with the quality of their work. I made an appointment here over the phone for brake service. At my appointment was told that the mechanic who does brakes was on lunch and to come back in an hour. I came back an hour and then was told they couldn't do the brake service and then referred me to the Sugar House location. Wasted tons of time traveling back and forth between the store. Walked in to the store- that was dead. All employees standing around, were helpful when approached but they did not go above and beyond any expectations of customer service. Their bathroom was one of the WORST I have ever been in, no soap (not even a dispenser on the wall, it was sitting on top of the toilet), toilet paper was just sitting there and it looked like it had not been cleaned for weeks maybe even longer! As I walked out the cashier was playing what looked like a bingo game on the computer. Selection of items was decent and prices weren't horrible. read more

I would like everyone to know that Pep Boys misrepresents the services they actually provide. I was told by an employee they would turn resurface the rotors on my daughter's vehicle for 14.99 each. I called to set it up before she made the trip down to the store (thankfully!) only to be told that they would not do that. Dave (manager) was very rude and would not even consider "honoring" what they agreed to 3 days ago. He said the employee would be reprimanded. Dave you should be reprimanded! Your employee is only trying to help someone get back on the road. God forbid you have to fire the machine up for 5 minutes! This might seem trivial to most, but I have been in the service industry for years. You will not last long lying to those that support your company. My last time dealing with Pep Boys ever. I am so sorry for the kind sir who told me to come in. It's your Mgr that needs a talking to. read more
