I had a terrible and unsafe experience with Pep Boys at the Northlake location (Store #285). On October 10, 2025, I purchased what was supposed to be a new set of tires. Within days, all four tires began losing air, and one tire went completely flat after the vehicle sat for only three days. The alignment they performed the same day is also off, making the ride unstable and unsafe. I have reported this issue to Pep Boys online multiple times. Every reply is a generic "we will forward your concern to field leadership," yet no one has contacted me or offered a solution for over a month. I'm now forced to reinflate the tires before driving, which is extremely dangerous and unacceptable for "new" tires. The lack of accountability, response or concern for customer safety has caused unnecessary stress and financial strain. Customers deserve safe products and real support... not automated replies. This issue is ongoing as I am still waiting resolution. This has been the most disappointing service experience I've had with any automotive shop. read more

Went in with what appeared to be an alternator problem, only to be told by the "experts" that i needed a new battery instead. I told them the battery was barely a year old, to be told, definitely you need a new battery. 303,00 later, and less than a week gone, and the car is as dead as I brought it. Amateur job read more

always had good luck with them but had a problem with fuel pump, they are short on help, mechanics are very knowledgeable but front desk needs to communicate with customers and not leave them hanging. Their on-line system attempting to follow repairs not in real time. Had to get in my car and pay them a visit to get status of repair. Scheduled an appointment online for an oil change at 5:30PM. Got there just before 5:30 and waited around for someone to help me. When one of the techs finally helped me, he tells me that they couldn't get to my car that day. I'm trying to figure out why they had appointments online. Won't be going back there. read more

I told them that I may need my spark plugs changed and they laughed at me and told me that I needed more than that done. I wanted a second opinion so I took my car to another mechanic and it was indeed just the spark plugs that needed to be changed. I was quoted $3000 for $86 fix. read more

After going to Costco and being quoted a price for 2 tires (I just needed one, but Costco didn't have the brand I currently have on my vehicle)... I checked in with Pep Boys to see what they could do. I totally lucked out... They had 2 of my brand of tires left... So I had a single one installed. The best part was the service person, Jennifer. Worst experience ever! I have been a long-time customer and got all repairs on my vehicle done here. I was at this location a month ago because all of the lights were flashing on my dashboard, they diagnosed the vehicle and said that I need to get the suspension changed and it wasn't urgent. (at $4400 estimate, I wanted another opinion) I requested an alignment because the car was steering off the road. they did the alignment but when I left, the car was still steering off the road and the lights were still flashing on the dash. I called to inform them that I wasn't satisfied with the work, paying for a diagnosis and alignment, but they didn't have an answer. A month later, my car started jerking, I scheduled an appointment for Monday (two days ago) and the car didn't make it, so I got it towed in. I paid for another diagnosis and was told I need a new motor ($7700) because it didn't have any oil because there was an oil leak. I would have thought that if I pay for a diagnosis a month ago, they would have found that there was an oil leak, especially since I informed them after I left about all of the lights that continued to be flashing. At this stage, I needed to junk the vehicle because these people couldn't give me a proper diagnosis. I ended up paying again for a diagnosis on a car that I ended up calling a scrap yard to pick up. If they were doing their job, I would still have a car. I asked to speak with the General manager to request a discount on the second diagnosis since the car is no longer drivable and not worth fixing. Jeremy who was working at the counter briefed the GM, but the GM couldn't be bothered to come over to speak with me. (Jeremy is very professional and kind during all of my interactions with him). He called someone named NICK over (perhaps a supervisor) and he was extremely rude, said it's not his fault I wasn't getting the work done and offered a small 5% discount for the diagnosis for a car that I am ending up scraping because they didn't inform me of the work that needed to be done. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. I will never go back with the vehicle I just bought and I will not recommend this location. read more

Incredible service and the staff and management went above and beyond to help us right at closing time when our car got a shard in the tire after a long day of traveling. They realized we would have been on the side of the road for hours with kids and luggage and decided to stay and patch our tire. Super quick and super chill. Wasn't going to do this since Pep Boys is refunding my money for such an incompetent work done. I took my vehicle in with an engine light and gas cap light. Along with getting very poor customer service from the GM and front desk staff, I was forced to take vehicle back four days later for same lights/issue and it sat till Tuesday due to part from local dealership, forced to wait and extremely poor communication from staff. I asked for them to keep me updated as to vehicle status and nothing. Had to bring Area manager in and he wasn't much help either!!! Called shop day was suppose to be ready, called multiple times throughout day, 3pm called and vehicle being worked on, told by front desk. Called back at 5p or just after and advised vehicle had been ready since 3p, no call back. Mechanic did what he could, kept me informed and explained everything unlike manager who shouldn't be a manager. Upper management knows issues with store manager lack of skills and nothing is done about it. I paid for new tie rods to be installed and another pep boys location told me the ones I have look to be original to the car. I also had shocks installed and since then my car has been vibrating so much that I can hear interior panels coming loose. They would not honor the road hazard warranty on my tires even after the GM admitted that the feathering in my tires was their fault. I will never return to a PEPBOYS location again. read more

Had to reschedule appointment 3 times, twice because they were too busy and once because they didn't have the proper parts for the job, which was discovered after already rescheduling once. None of this was discovered in advance with a courtesy call but after I had already driven to the shop. Waited 3 and a half hours for an oil change and couldn't get a receipt of services done. I had an appointment for an alignment, waited two hours, and was told they only had one alignment bay which was occupied by a truck the entire time. I am giving three stars because they did replace my tire pressure monitors while I was waiting for alignment. Got the alignment at a local store the next day, in and out in under an hour. They said the online reservation system does not work and to call them for appointments but that wasn't on the website. They are under construction but mostly understaffed i think. read more

Run. Don't trust this Pep boys. We purchased tires 2 years ago as well as the 3 year alignment plan. Mind you, for one year we were in a pandemic and didn't really drive. Took my van in for in alignment and was told that I needed all new tires, and that they could not do the alignment because of this. What? I had a 3 year warranty on my tire tread. Pep Boys provides many name-brand tires, provides automotive repairs and a large inventory of auto parts. My experience with this location has been quite satisfactory, but I have only bought automotive mats and a dash sun cover. Please don't ever go to this Pep Boys. I went in with a slow leak and was told I must have driven on it while it was flat and the tire needed to be replaced. I was quoted $250 for a SINGLE tire (not specialty or anything) and was told it would be done the next day. Four days later, with still no call, and after demanding to know the status of my car, they tell me hurriedly "it'll be done in 30 minutes" meaning, they hadn't bothered working on it until then. I declined and said I would pick up the car having lost all faith at this point. When I picked up my vehicle the service rep didn't look at or acknowledge me for over 10 minutes despite not being on a call. He simply pecked at his computer as if he had forgotten his password. When I was finally acknowledged, they attempted to charge me a 20% cancellation fee. I declined that too. Took it down the street to Firestone and was charged $10 to tighten a loose valve that was leaking air :/ This Pep Boys is run poorly and crookedly. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

As a follow up to my post of 8/13 where Pep Boys diagnosed my check engine light as a leaking intake gasket and kept the car for two days without doing anything. All Star Auto on 10th Ct in Lake Park diagnosed the problem as a leaking Fuel Vapor Separator tube assembly. Took 20 minutes to replace, cost $141.29 and only $36.52 was labor. Not sure but my guess is replacing a gasket would have been a lot more labor intensive and expensive, and the tube assembly would have had to be replaced anyway. I received a response to my review asking for my contact information and a couple of follow up emails asking for more information and after that, nothing. This location has really degraded over the years it used to be both fun and efficient. I'm a long-term customer and have seen its demise. There are many pictures of large shelves with serve yourself parts with a huge parts area .. now nothing. I need to remove my pictures . . everything is gone except the bays.The worst thing was today. I called to have new valve stems installed and tires checked . . possibly new tires. I made an appointment, came in and was told .. sorry, we can't take you today. The guy did not show. This was a half hour drive no less. Louis, the guy in charge said he didn't call as he didn't have my number. I told him I've been a customer for years, and I'm in the system. The dude looked and said "oh, there you are" with a really confused look on his face . . was he just lazy or unmanaged? I asked if he could get me an appointment at another location .. he said I'd have to do that. Talk about terrible customer service. I sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half for them to tell me it didn't fit. Initially thought it would take a while cause the waiting room was packed. 45 min later the service was done. No up selling no b.s. With great service. I waited 4 hours for an oil change. 4 hours! When the lady said "do you have time to wait" I'm here thinking that's about an hour or two wait not 4! They have more workers than valvoline right across the street and when I went to valvoline months ago, they were able to help me and finish within 45 minutes. This is crazy. Had a problem with the rear center brake light and the drivers side brake light. The center light turned out to be the bulb. The light cover is held on with two stainless bolts. When the bulb was replaced, there was only one bolt in the light cover. I questioned the supervisor. The story he got back from the tech was that the light came in with one bolt. Supervisor obviously didn't believe that lie but he tried to get rid of me saying that if I fixed the missing bolt Pep Boys would cancel my payment. NO WAY. Supervisor went out to a parts store. Bought some bolts not stainless and used two bolts to attach the light cover. They said the drivers brake light was OK. It's not. Run away from these guys. If your car has a problem in Pep Boys parking lot, get it towed. They are supposedly eliminating the parts business and are only doing repairs, tires and batteries. Given the quality of their work, the business will be closed in a month. read more

This breaks my heart to have to leave this review because I have left a review in the past where I was satisfied with the work done on my vehicle and the nice little waiting area. Well that all went down the drain after I waited over 45 minutes and had an appointment for just an oil change and then one of the guys doing the work comes in complaining he could not get the hood open and if he can not open it then they can not do the oil change I said ok well figure it out do you not know how to find a way and troubleshoot. He said no. So you just had me sitting here with my baby and daughter for an hour just to turn me away. Lol funny thing is you lost my business my money because I brought it to a friend and he also works on vehicles and all he did was wiggle it around and got it unstuck and come to find out it was just rusty and needed to be cleaned and oiled. So at the end of the day as a vehicle shop don't hire or expect little weak people to get work done on a vehicle. Pep Boys needs to get their online scheduling and call-in scheduling in sync. I first came here for an oil change a few months ago. I scheduled the appointment online through their website, which had appointments available that evening for oil changes. The site said that during that evening, an oil change would be on special for $19.99. I arrived for my appointment, and the mechanic receiving my car was quite rude and irritated with me for scheduling an appointment online. He told me that the Palm Beach Gardens location requires 24 hours in advance to schedule an appointment, and that I should really call by phone next time to schedule something. He also tried to charge me $25 for my oil change, saying I needed a special coupon to get the $19.99 pricing. Once I showed him the website, he eventually gave me the $19.99 price, but was not at all nice about it. The service, which included an oil change and tire rotation, took about an hour, which was not too bad, but not the fastest I've seen. The people were rude, and their scheduling is horrible. I figured I just caught them on a bad night. I have a tire leak today and called to schedule an appointment. The person who answered the phone was stingy with appointment information and just plain rude, again. It's like he didn't want me to go there for service at all. I'll go somewhere else if i have to fight to get a simple tire repair appointment. This location needs to get it's act together. Took my car in for an oil change that automatically includes a tire rotation. After inspection I was told all 4 tires had been worn down to being dangerous low on tread. They told me I needed 4 new tires. I told them I get my tires at Costco and have a warrenty, no thank you. They said they couldn't do the tire rotation because tires were very bad. Service here is always been Shady. Everytime I give this store a second chance I regret it. I figure a few years goes by maybe they might have better workers. Most recent incident: I wanted to get my front tires replaced. I did not want the new tires on the back, because the back tires are at less than 50% life. I should not have to explain this, but I did. The associate (Pierre, a black man with a dark mole under his eye and a large beard) was very argumentative, and ultimately refused. This is when I said "I will take my business elsewhere and you can cancel my appointment." He followed me outside the store and wanted to fight. This is unprofessional conduct under any circumstance.
