Took my Car here for Air conditioner repair .My car began overheating the very next day I was charged $350.00 for work that was not done (parts that were not installed)The receipt did not match the work.The Manager Westley was nice at first but seems to be under a lot of pressure.He explained to me that the master mechanic was fired and they are in the process of trying to get him back.In the meantime they are very understaffed There is only one mechanic working who doesn't seem very knowledgeable. My car went into limp mode on the way to a formal event in NYC Friday evening devine intervention is how I made it back in one piece to Jersey had to stop on the highway at 2am several times for the car engine to cool off.I was told by Westley there would be no technician available until Monday (Mother's Day weekend) When I arrived Monday at 8:30am before I could get a word out I was shut down by Westley.He said I had 5 cars in front of me .I asked for a refund for the job that they charged me for because I had another mechanic check it out earlier that morning prior to showing up there ,He accused me of being belligerent and called the cops to remove me from the premises. I had to end up calling for a flatbed to have my car towed 24 miles to a reliable professional mechanic. if you are female or a minority race Please save yourself the headache and risk of being ripped off.Men will come in after you and be serviced and prioritized immediately while you sit and wait. This is for Pep Boys corporate. Went to store in Lodi, NJ for a Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic oil change. I had a valid coupon for $45.00 off. I was advised by desk person that Pep Boys just stopped honoring coupon. When I asked him why he just said they don't. I have know complaint with this person as to he is just a worker who has to follow rules. I called customer service and was told the same thing. All he said was he doesn't handle it and would have to forward it to be investigated why and that it would to 24-48 hours to get back to me. My thought was another waste of time. Told him I would make a complaint with Better Business Bureau and he just repeated what he said already. Well tried to file complaint with BBB, but could not understand the directions on web site and couldn't get a live person to ask for help. So nothing gets done. I've have been coming to this location for 10+ years. Always was great to come and trust staff in fixing families vehicles. Of course, was happy with my services on 5/6/23 to leave my daughters car to do the same type of maintenance on her vehicle. Fast forward it's over 24 hours and to my knowledge Jennifer is "Assistant Manager." She called my daughter to tell her no paperwork was drawn out and she does not know what to do with the vehicle. Of course, I am going to call at 3:30pm telling her what is needed and if this can be done before 6pm. Well your "Assistance Manager" did nothing and did not even do the paperwork. Wondering why she has this position? So, my daughter not only lost a whole day of not having her vehicle on a beautiful Sunday. She had nothing done to her car. I bought my car in Saturday 730 am before store opened at 8am for belt repair and back brakes done. Around noon I called to see how it was going and they told me that there was a mix up and they didn't see my car and will begin serving my car and should be done around 3pm. I called at 3pm and they said it should be done around 5pm. 5pm I called and they said come in 7pm it will be ready because they close at 7pm. I sat there until 930pm and car still not done. I was told that it will be done at 9am Sunday when they open. I called at 10am and they said car will be done at 11am. read more

What you'll notice is I was charged $22.99 for Fuel Cleaner. I was never informed about this fuel cleaner, I never asked for this fuel cleaner, I never agreed to this fuel cleaner and I watched my car being serviced and I didn't notice any fuel cleaner being put in so many things went wrong here. Now the gentleman who overcharged me wasn't the same gentleman who did the actual work so it's possibly ( Manuel) but I couldn't get his name since I observed him leaving work approximately 4:30pm despite the fact I heard another technician say mechanics leave at 5pm. Someone better check his time card. I made sure to take screen shots and pictures with timestamps since I wanted to note these time inconsistencies. So I hope the executive staff of Pep Boys takes this seriously both the non-consented up-charging of me the customer and early exit of their employee who might be receiving an hourly wage for time not worked. I'll report it to the higher ups among Pep boys and see what they say. I'm sure Pepboys themselves are a great company but just have a bad hire. read more

I first came here to get my rear brakes done. I called for pricing and they were cheapest in the area. I was told that the best time to come was in the morning. I did just that but got burned. They didnt have the brakes in stock and the place they got it from was closed. So they sent someone to get them. It took a longer than I hoped and i was late for work. The managers were nice and apologetic but they did a good job for a good price. I then had to do my front brakes. I decided to go back and spoke to cesar who guarantee the parts were in stock. He also guaranteed the same price as the previous time I came. I went in and he took me in right away. They finished it quick and efficiently. The assistant manager was courteous and friendly. I was freaking out with a nail in my tire and also my oil was at 5% every place I was calling gave me dates for 7 days later and separate date to get the nail out my tire. I ended up speaking with Philip (master mechanic) and he was extremely helpful and he walked me through what could or could not be the issue with my Lincoln navigator. Feeling very comfortable after our discussion, I decided to bring my truck in. I was met by Philip and Tony who were extremely professional and very thorough. Phillip explaining everything and made suggestions for the work they were going to do on my truck. Phillip's knowledge as a master mechanic and his professionalism was what really sold me to this Pep Boys location. I have found a new permanent mechanic for many years to come. This place is a joke. Went there a few weeks ago to have tires installed and it took hours. They apologized for being short-staffed as a few employees had called out. I gave them another shot today for brakes and it was a disaster. I waited over 20 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to check me in. When he finally showed up, he asked, "oh, were you waiting long?", saying he was doing inventory out front. Yes. Yes I was waiting a long time. Despite booking my appointment online, they didn't have any of my car's information in the system. They then told me they didn't have the parts and would take over 24 hours to get them, despite the online confirmation they everything was in stock. I took time off of work to get this done and now I will have to use another day and go somewhere else. I'm furious. Save yourself the hassle, and go somewhere competent. It's worth paying a little extra knowing the job will actually get done. read more

While we were evacuated for Hurricane Florence and staying in the area, we had a flat tire and some other tire issues that needed to be addressed on a Sunday afternoon. David (I believe his name was) and Cesar were able to get us in, replace our tires, and help us out with a good deal thus making an already stressful situation a little bit better. My car has been making a high pitch squealing noise from my breaks when I'm backing out from parking space. Today I dropped off my car and went home waiting for that call to tell me how much money it will be for my breaks. Instead, the call from Cesar at Pep Boys was to say the breaks are in good condition and DO NOT have to be replaced. They checked them over and everything is ok. Plus, no service fee for their inspection. You can't imagine how happy and relieved this type of honesty from a car mechanic has meant to me. Management refused this request and showed, instead, a 7,500 mile interval for my next oil change. I'll ignore the sticker and have my oil changed, as usual, at 5,000 miles, elsewhere. read more

Don't go here. They made me get a $110 diagnostic done on my car. Told me that my oil sensor was going bad. Turned out that my engine pistons were worn and burning the oil, a much more serious issue. They also try to get you to do a bunch of unnecessary things done to your car like replacing parts that don't need to be replaced. The pricing is also not competitive. They were rude and pushy about getting you to have services done with them and they were wrong! Also, the other reviews look so fake. read more

I have an 09 Altima. I went there for manufacturers recommended service on 45k miles - oil change and in cabin air filter change. I had scheduled an appointment. The service shouldn't have taken more than 45 minutes. However, after waiting for an hour I was informed that they did not have an air filter and asked me if I could come in later to get that changed. Note - they had already removed the old one and later realized they did not have a new to replace. I enquired about brakes and they informed they do a free brake check and they can get it done the next time I am in. I paid for both services and scheduled another appointment next day to get the new air filter and free brake check done. The next day, they put in a new air filter but told me they were too busy for brake check. I was asked to come back again. Well, what do I say? Seems like good guys but very poorly managed. read more

Do not go here. The check engine light came on in my car and I went to get it checked out here. They wanted to charge me nearly $900 for the service. I told them I was going to seek a second opinion. Glad I did because when I got home, the check engine light turned off. Glad I didn't get robbed and it was a minor thing. Had my car towed to this place after it wouldn't start. The staff are funny and friendly. For the most part they know what they're doing. The wait can be long (I waited for 5 hours but it was probably because I had an unscheduled visit). The prices are reasonable because the quality of the work is great. They really do try their best in accommodating the customer, so hats off to the manger and the staff for that courtesy. The only issue I had in visiting was the wait time. read more
