The last 2 times I have been here has been amazing. This time I was helped by Ryan and Jim, they were fixing my breaks, rotors, and tire sensors. (With the tire sensor it was a little too much) So far everything is driving great, I had an appointment at 11 and didn't get out till 3 but it wasn't bad. I had great conversation with Ryan and Jim. I walked to advanced to get wiper blades, and walked back to pep boys, asked Ryan to put it in my car. He said they could put it on for me, I am very grateful. Needed a tire/fix replacement on a Sunday and let me tell you ....this is not the place. Between horrible service and prices double for the same tires at other locations. Went to the Pep Boys on Dunn Ave on a Fri morning needing a window regulator replaced.(Knew this since we had door panel off already to get the window up, saw that it was broken) Was told that they had to diagnose it themselves to tell me what i just told them. Didnt have an appointment, got to me pretty quick. Was going to be charged an hour and a half for a 30 min job. A friend fix the drivers side door. I know they make money on up charging parts but was going to be charged $189 for the part. To replace the door regulator it was going to cost me over six hundred dollars before he came up with a coupon and said he could get it done for under six hundred. I told him i couldn't spend that much to fix a window. I was charged $118.23 (99.99 for engine diagnosis and $9.99 for misc "shop supplies") Was going out of town and don't get too much time off from work so I was just trying to get it fixed. Left there, went down the street and got it for $123.99 Smooth talking nice guy. By far the worst tire shop experience, they lied and said the tire wasn't repairable, they also quoted $322 for a new tire and charged $30 just for the inspection. I then went to discount tire and they patched the tire no problem and quoted $180 per tire if I wanted to replace. I also saw the pep boys tech basically drifting around the parking lot, screeching tires in another customers car and then telling the customer they needed 2 new tires haha basically con men trying to beat people out of money. 100% would not recommend they are liars and thiefs read more

Yeah so, I went in for a brake pad repair in February at this location ONLY because my local servicer was closed and it was something urgent. First: they forgot about my car until I called the next day. Second: overpriced. Third: They. Didnt. Repair/replace. The brake pads. Correctly. I went into this location, told them my problem (squealing car when braking and driving) all they did was "front brake pad replacement" after I left my car was still squealing. So I took it to my local servicer, told them I just had the front pads replaced, still having issues. They changed the back pads and a few other things. I drive away after that with a still squealing car. FINALLY I couldn't take it any longer (its now April) and took the car back to my local and they replaced the front brake pads only (no charge to me either, thanks Gassons Napa Auto) and lo and behold NO MORE SQUEALING CAR. Long story short: I had to have whatever this location did to my car REPLACED. Don't waste your time or money. Not worth an urgent repair. read more

Lets just say, its been a day. This is my neighborhood store that I normally visit for my auto needs. However, lets start with the day before. I was given verification that it would be a 2 hour wait, so I decided to come today (3/31/17, BAD IDEA!!! I was greeted upon arrival, by a frustrated face, asking if they could help me. Side note: I'm not involved in their personnel problems, and not having enough people on duty shouldn't be taken out on me. You ask for my name, telephone number, make and model of car, and said it would be an hour and a half wait to be serviced. They gave me an appointment time of 11:30, and did not ask for my keys or if I was staying. I said, "I will be back at 11:30." But upon my arrival, they greeted me with, "May I help you? Do you have an appointment?" Mind you, this is the same person I spoke with 2 hours ago. I gave my name and stated that I was there for my 11:30 appointment. They greeted me with the same frustrated face, stated: "We are very backed up today so it will be a 2 hour wait." Another gentleman asked, "Are you getting your oil changed?" My mothers car has a warranty that has to be preformed by pep boys. On this occasion the water pump on her 2013 Ford Escape was going out and needing to be replaced. so on the 201 Ford Escape the water pump is connected to the timing chain (belt is what it actually is). so if a vehicle's timing is off enough it will not start. From the start there system was showing in order to preform the water pump replacement the timing chain kit was required. pep boys contacted the warranty department for her vehicle, and at that time the warranty department told pep boys that the waterpu and timing chain kit is require. I was standing there while they was on the phone. Pep boys told the warranty department that the tech said it was only the water pump that's it. pep boys talked the warranty department out of the correct part. befor the warranty department was called pep boys was even telling me there may be a specific tool required to put the engine back to top dead center. This was a six hour job, they have had the vehicle a total of 6 days at the time of writing this review. And a total of 44 working hours. On day one i had to call to notify them that the vehicle was dropped off and the key was in the drop box. Later that day I checked the repair tracker provided by pep boys via web link. About 7 hours after the vehicle was dropped of I called when I noticed the repair tracker said to call there are questions about the vehicle. I called and mentioned that and they said no it's fine we are just about done. I go to pick up the vehicle and I'm told things came up and it was not ready.I was told they had to go pick up a special tool from another pep boys. The next day I called they said they was working on it and only had about 3 hours of work. I went back again to pick up the vehicle. I arrive and the vehicle is still on the lift. I say I'm here for that vehicl. I'm told by pep boys I can push it anywhere I'd like. It won't start I was told. and they have another tech working on it to figure out what is wrong with it. Even though the vehicle was drivable in the condition it was dropped off. They replaced an additional part that has nothing to do with it not starting. I was again told they had to go buy a spec tool at this point even though I was told they went to another pep boys to get the tool. Day 3, a 3rd tech I called corporate and it went no where in addition to them Telling me the same exact thing they have been telling me from the start. Day for there's another tech and it still isn't working and now tell me they had to order the tool from Amazon. A profession, franchis part/service company. day 4 still not running same story from the same people. Day 5 the shop is closed. Now about to be on day 7. The entire time they have not communicated any issues and have made me waste time making the trip to get the vehicle on the days I did call making it sound like it would be done just to show up and then tell me you can push it. This particular location is in disrepair and actually looks closed. This is so unbelievable I have never taken a vehicle to any shop and had this happen as far as the unprofessional way they are conducting themselves, but the vehicle in worse condition (not running) then when it was dropped off. Started off bad & got worse! I called & got a quote of $89.99 for an alternator which didn't sound right. Then I made an appointment online. When I arrived they tried to charge for a svc check (starting & charging system check) that is showing free online then tell me it's an 1-1.5 hr wait even with an appointment. Then the repair cost they quoted over the phone was wrong! $328 vs $89.99 is a huge difference. That's 3 strikes in 1 interaction! The icing on the cake was after the repair was completed it took over 10 minutes for them to get me to checkout. I made an online appointment when I arrived at my appointment time I was told to bring the car back the next day the issues with my car were that it was running hot and I didn't feel comfortable driving so we came up with the agreement that I would just leave the car but he wasn't going to be worked on until the next day which would've been Saturday on Saturday I received a call that my radiator was bad and that I was going to need it replaced and a thermostat that was fine I went ahead and gave them the green light to get it done and then received another phone call that stated there were other issues with the car that were major but minor and could be done at a later date so I decided to go ahead and get my radiator done and they were going to call me when it was ready to be picked up Here's my issue I never received a call that my car was ready but at about 740 on Saturday night I received an email that I didn't actually look at until about 9 PM Saturday night that my car was ready for pick up keep in mind this business close at 8 PM I don't know why I didn't receive a call but I didn't so I arrive Sunday around noon to pick up and pay for the services when I was informed that my car wouldn't be ready until about another 2 to 3 hours I took a Lyft up to the shop so I was stuck there for 2 1/2 hours because the car didn't end up being available until about 230 when I received my car there were issues as far as shaking of the engine and it was making that a crazy noise that it wasn't making when I dropped the car off my initial response to the noises and was to go back inside but being that I had already been there for 2 1/2 hours and had to go be to work at 4pm I decided to just call back later when I made it to my destination my uncle was there and he noticed that as I was so frustrated because I just paid all this money to get my car fixed and now something else was going wrong and I really needed the car that's why I paid for the radiator to be fixed but the car was not drivable because whenever I came to a complete stop the car would shake uncontrollably well looking under the hood my uncle noticed that there were a couple of things unplugged on my engine that didn't require the radiator to be replaced he also noticed that the fans weren't plugged in and there was a hose detached also (as soon as everything was plugged back in and attached correctly the shaking stopped) I didn't receive a new radiator cap (which is itemized on the receipt) and that there was a lot of fluid in the reservoir Someone named Amanda called me but we me working overnight I'm usually asleep during business hours and my car still smells like it's burning and the temperature gauge floats when the car is stopped longer than two minutes (drive thru) I was referred to this business by someone I trusted and I'm truly disappointed at the service or lack there of I received read more

10 minutes before 8 p.m. closing time I drove my vehicle up to Pep Boys brightly lighted garage with an unexpected flat tire. I was totally in distress I actually have an account with Tires Plus and went to the location on Dunn Avenue first and was turned away by the Manager who made it very clear that they were closed and he could not help me and advised me to take my car which had a visible flat tire up to Pep Boys who was still open. I had never patronized Pep Boys before, but I was desperate for help so I proceeded to the location with a sense of urgency. My God I was greeted with such a warm welcome by Service Manager Devron Tobey and Jacob (the Friendly Mechanic). Even though I was arriving right before closing time they were so friendly, helpful and understanding. Unbeknownst to them they were assisting an U.S. Air Force Veteran who was visiting from Las Vegas, Nevada. My spouse and I was so moved by their generosity, we decided to close our Tires Plus Accounts and from this point on will take all our car service needs to Pep Boys from Florida to Nevada. We were looking for a tow kit for my 2014 Jeep Patriot and lucked out in finding Billy (CS Mgr) and "the boys." I had purchased the kit online the day before to be sure to get the mail-in rebate but due to some technical difficulty my reservation got switched and the charge lost. So, after all was said and done, they not only put on the tow kit, but credited me what I would have saved with the rebate, helped me locate the electric hook-up (ironically, with a competitor) and then Billy himself came out and helped me put on my new hitch cover! Amazing customer service and all with a great sense of humor and a smile!! We will definitely be returning to this store even though it is not near our home, in VA! This place is very very slow. We are going on 2 hours waiting on a set of tires and still not even on the final stretch. They close at 8 and I probably won't be out of here until after that. They were 30 minutes late for my appointment and that's a little disrespectful, people make appointments so they don't have to wait. I am a girl and I can say worse service ever. Let's start from the beginning. I moved from San Diego and I used pep boys quit frequently because my brother works at one. I went in for an alignment, oil change, c v axle, two tires, and struts. Paid in cash and received alright service. They failed to mention the ball joint on the passengers side was shot. Cool but all the work they just did is warranted so they weren't hurting me. We eventually it was annoying enough I had to fix it. Went to to this location and omg what morons. I went in said hey this is what I want. Was asked several questions to lead me to the same thing I went there for. Cool. Witching 7 mins was given three different quotes. Then left and was killing time. Was called back three more times all new quotes. Was offered parts that weren't even on my car. Then told I needed an alignment on top. Guess what it's warranted but they ant find it in the system?? Strange because I have the receipt and pulled it up online. They give me my car back the cv axle is now shot I need two new tires and the alignment had my steering wheel so screwed it's hard to drive. This store is an embarrassment to the company and has ruined my car. Don't even ask what it cost for the 45 mins worth of work that turned into six hours on top of breaking my car and causing thousands of dollars worth of more work. Ignorance is bliss but these guys are beyond that!!! I'd never been to Pep Boys, so I thought I would give it a try. I signed up online for an oil change. I get there 30 minutes early. I was greeted quickly and pleasantly by the tall man behind the counter, perhaps a manager. He was busy so he asked another guy to help me. That was a mistake. The guy looked as though he was having a casual conversation with someone and he looked irritated to have to stop to help me. I told him of my appointment and my last name. He typed in my name and said, "What?" I said, 'What...what do I want?" He looked at me like it was a stupid question so I said, "An oil change." He said, "Well it's nothing in the computer". I said, "I signed up online a few hours ago." He said, "Well, that's the problem. It doesn't show up immediately when you do that."--like I was supposed to know that or that it was somehow my fault. So I hand him my coupon and he says he can't use it because I need synthetic oil. I said "Fine, how much more $20, $30?" He says "More like $50." and he informs me that the oil change is $75. I said I'd had oil changes before and I didn't need synthetic oil. He rolls his eyes and spins the computer monitor around to me like it was the Bible and I told him I didn't need to read it to know that my car didn't need synthetic. With an attitude, he tells me that what the computer says he has to do and I could use conventional oil--it's my car--but if I mess it up, oh well. I left. For the record, the owner's manual does not require synthetic oil for my vehicle. I don't know if he was just horrifically lacking in customer service or if that old stereotype that women know nothing about cars was in play or if maybe that's how the company does business with upsell tactics (perhaps all 3?), but one thing I know for certain--I will never, everever, EVERever use Pep Boys for anything.
