I have read lots of articles on various spots around the web about how horrible Tires Plus is -- they're only motivated by sales and they make up "needed" repairs to pad the numbers... I'm sure the same can be said for many auto repair shops, whether they're a chain, or an independent shop. I've never felt that way about the work that's been done on my car at this location of Tires Plus. They've been good about telling me what's needed (I was already aware of most of the items they listed.) When I said "Let's work on the top three items this month, and then I'll be back next month for some more," the items they suggested were NOT the most expensive repairs. They've also been good about 'scheduling' times, telling me when they'll be able to work on the car, and how long it will take, and the estimates are pretty reliable. There's not much to do on this stretch of Dunn, but if you drop off the car, you can walk to a couple of restaurants and have a meal while waiting. Beats the waiting room, which isn't -terrible-, but let's face it, NO waiting room at a service center is really appealing. read more

my new $215 tires after one day was under inflated to 24psi and they did not replace the valve cap. Also took forever for one tire.

This had to have been the worst tire shop Ive been to. I got a flat tire and asked to get it patched but turns out it was busted so I wanted to get a new one (2 at that). Mind you after waiting an hour for them to tell me what was wrong with the tire, he also told me that they have to order the tires which would take 30 min- 2hrs???!?! I stated that I wanted to get regular tires put on my car just until I can get to the dealership, why the desk guy tells me that I HAVE to get run flats because I have a Mercedes??? Like no I don't . How you tell me what tires I need to get for MY car like it isn't MY car and like I haven't done this before. Then after I step outside to talk to a family member about what they are trying to charge me he then came up to me stating that I can actually get regular tires but I need to purchase all 4. Told them I'd like my keys back and went to Tire Kingdom, they got me right for a WAAAAY better price and had better customer service!! read more

Made an appointment at 7am. Dropped it off. Got a phone call at 12. Finished at 6:45pm. They charged me extra hub that my husband fixed 3 months ago. They say that one side is broke they fix both!! $400 more. Don't go..unless you like your money gone. Manger was no help. They even told me to come up there a 45 mins drive to day we can not help you which could of been done on the phone. read more

Went in for an alignment because I lowered my car not because my wheel was crooked or because my car was pulling to one side. , this is currently my 3rd day in a row here... and all they've done is made my alignment worse. My wheel is now crooked, I have to tilt the wheel slightly to the left just to go straight. In case you don't know, an alignment should take no more that 2 - 3 hours MAX. And even that's being generous with time. This will for sure be my last time coming to this place. Prime example of why I don't like letting anyone else work on my vehicle. Update: they did a 4th alignment... yes 4th.... And it pulls extremely hard to the left, I've just given up on this place. I gave them $108 just to make my alignment worse than it was when I brought it in. It's ridiculous, I mean it's practically all done by a machine nowadays how hard can it be?!?! I guess this shop is just hiring anybody walking by the storefront because I can't think of any other excuse. I had the headlight bulbs on my 2000 Ford Ranger replaced yesterday evening 2/2/15 and I was grossly overcharged per a comparative estimate. The cost here was $149.03. After checking with Pep Boys, the replacement would have cost $67.37 total at their facility. When I signed the authorization paperwork at Tires Plus there was no estimated cost on it nor did the service advisor give me an estimate prior to performing the work. I was in absolute shock when I was told the total was $149.03. I said nothing to the service advisor afterwards because I've found him to be a bit "snarky" at times & I didn't want to have a potential scene so I decided to follow up with Pep Boys today as well as write to Tires Plus and complete their specific survey on the service. Also, I watched a professional video of the light bulb replacement, after the fact, and realized I could have completed the replacements myself in less than 10 minutes. I use Tires Plus for near all my auto maintenance & repair of multiple vehicles and have done so for over 20 years (or as long as the store has been on Dunn Ave) but this situation doesn't set well with me at all to the point of changing where I take my vehicles as well as taking further action on this! This is a very expensive lesson to never get to comfortable or trusting with any business. Always ask for an estimate and pay attention when signing any authorization to perform an assessment or servicing. They also sell sub par "shotty" batteries so go elsewhere for that. Based upon this experience, I'll certainly look to take my long-term business elsewhere! I'll update this review if a satisfactory reply/make it right effort is received. read more

Today I found out that I had a nail in my tire. So I looked up a few locations to use my warranty from my tire purchase a few months ago and this was the place. As I walked in the door I noticed that the establishment closes at 7pm. Note: it was 6 pm at the time. I went inside as the worker was walking in with me and we both greeted each other and I let him know about my nail in the tire and how I have a warranty. I asked if he could take a look at it and possibly patch it or offer me a new tire. He quickly said that he could do something in the morning but as I said tomorrow is not a promise. I asked if he was sure and he told me that he currently had two cars he was working on and that he couldn't take me. Apparently both cars were not being worked on as I sat outside for about 15 mins trying to figure out my next strategy. As I look inside the establishment the worker was still sitting at the desk not being productive and the other worker in the garage wasn't working either. So I am just totally disappointed and I had to take a risk by driving back home to Orange Park. I later called the Tires Plus on Blanding and it was a different customer service experience. They told me that if I came in they would be able to service me the very same day and the time was 6:23pm. This location has a lot of work to do but apparently if there's one hour left in the day it won't be utilized. read more

They wouldn't help me patch a tire with more than 30 minutes before closing. I was told they have stopped taking customers. The tire was already off of the vehicle, ready to go. A simple patch from a nail, anyone there should have been able to help. Very blunt and rude about the situation. read more

the only issue I've had with tire plus I've been here twice for an oil change and they didn't put enough oil back in my car both times i was driving with no oil in my car which could've caused so much damage to my engine it was like a month after my oil change was done when i started getting the sensor i had low oil in my car , oil changes normally last 3 months not for a month will not be returning if im paying for an oil change why not put the oil in my car read more

I needed a tire for my suv and I called several places around town and this tire plus was the only place that had the tire (the last one in stock) I hauled my derriere over and was in and out with an hour or so. I believe the guy who assisted me was Rich, he was professional and polite AND they offer free wifi! read more

I stopped into a Tires Plus for the second time to have a nail pulled on my lifetime road hazardous warranty. For the second time the claim was denied. The first claim, the nail was too close to the side wall for a patch to hold. The second claim, there wasn't enough tread. The tread is still slightly above the wear bars, not much, but manager stated the tread was lower. It was nothing a couple of tire patches from Wal-Mart couldn't handle. All the shop seemed interested in was selling new tires. No offer was made to prorated amount on the remaining 10-15k miles that the tires were supposed to reach (70k tires). It took the shop about an hour to refuse to patch the tire. They did do a courtesy check, those I wish they would have refused to start with so I could have gone on my way. Tires have been fine, wouldn't recommend the hazard warranty. read more

Went online to make an appointment to get two tires replaced. Got an email making a big thing of how they couldn't confirm the appointment until they confirmed the tires would be there and someone would be available to replace them. You probably guessed it. Showed up on the appointed time and date, told the clerk I was there for my appointment and he looked at me like I announced I wanted a dozen donuts or something. Finally cleared up that I had made an appointment online and he does some typing and announces he found me then squints at the monitor and announces "We don't have those tires!" Then asks "What size?". How the EFFING BLEEP can you say you don't have them if you don't know the size?!!!! So I tell him the size and he once again announces they don't have them and are kinda busy but they may be able to get them later in the day or "maybe tomorrow.". So, no tires and no one to install them and maybe I can come back at their convenience...... Well no. Just no. Never again. read more

On our way back to Florida, our car's alternator and battery died on a Sunday in Savannah, Georgia. The Pep Boys in Savannah was too busy to take us so we got a AAA tow to Jacksonville to this Pep Boys, which was the only one open on this Sunday, which was also Mother's Day. We arrived one half hour before they were scheduled to close and they were able to get us back on the road by working 90 minutes overtime!!! How great was that!! A special thank you to Winston Harrison, who made all of the arrangements for parts and service over the phone, to William Weaver, the service manager, who runs a crew based on the best customer service and for all of the mechanics who worked way overtime to get us back on the road.
