Couldn't do an oil change right , ruined the plug , car was leaking oil all over , lucky we noticed , they towed the car back and didn't replace the plug or didn't know how to put it back ,was leaking again .Almost ruined the car and took no responsibility, went to a real shop and they put a new plug and fixed it . 0 out of 10 read more

Easy to get a same day appointment. Staff was very helpful and let me know there was a coupon available for my oil change. One of the front desk staff came back stating that the technicians were recommending some additional work related to the air filter and spark plugs. I agreed to have the air filter changed. Unfortunately, there are very thin walls between the waiting area and the service area. So when she went back to tell them to add the air filters, I could audibly hear the techs yell, "yay....more money". It leaves your customer wondering did they truly need the air filter or was this just a scheme to see how much more money you can get each customer to spend. Overall everything was great, but that comment was concerning to overhear. read more

I brought my flat tire in for repair on Labor Day. Tony and the team got it fixed very quickly! Very happy with the service I received. I'll be back if my car needs repairs. read more

I've been a customer with pep boys for years. Today I went there to return some used oil. The cashier at the store on rt 9 in Howell took my oil but told me he wouldn't take any more unless it was in a disposable container because "I can't stop my workers to dump your oil". For all the money I've given them over the years, I found that statement insulting. Don't expect me to show up at their business any more. read more

Pep boys in Howell is the best one I've ever been to and you got a problem talk to tony he will help u out. The customer service is very nice and he helped me pronto, when I had my busy toddler with me. My go to place and this wasn't the first time he had helped. Thank you guys read more

I have been using Pep Boys for some time for oil changes, tire purchases, etc. Generally, I have had a good experience. However, I recently went for an oil change and tire rotation. When I got my car the total was $85 after the $20 coupon they always have. This was about $16 more than I normally pay, but I assumed it was due to inflation and I was in a rush so I didn't question the increase. When I went home and had a chance to look at my receipt I noticed that in addition to the oil change and tire rotation, they did a fuel additive service which is why the cost was $16 more than normal. My issue is I did not ask for this service, nor was it ever mentioned or offered to me. This wasn't a mistake and they clearly just added the service without my knowledge or authorization. Very disappointed as I have never had this type of issue with them but now not sure if I will go back. read more

Vanessa was super friendly and professional. Alex was quick to help me and Fixed my flat super fast!

I was able to call early in the morning and get an appointment in the afternoon for a new car battery. I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early and after checking in my car was brought back a few minutes later! I was in and out in less than 40 minutes for a battery change and was given a 15% discount. All in all quick & friendly service. Will definitely be back if I have any other car troubles! read more

Left my car at 8AM till 4:30 PM to have 4 tires put on still sitting in parking lot untouched, girl at the counter told the tire guy to do it now and he said no he was going home at 5PM Very poor service! Don't recommend this place for any work read more

I would think performing a basic oil change and tire rotation on a late-model Volkswagen is just about the simplest thing Pep Boys does. Maybe I give them too much credit. I went in a on a Saturday for these cost-of-entry services and on Sunday I had three quarts of Pennzoil pooled on my driveway and a car that vibrated at 60mph and pulled severely to the left. Returning to the scene, I was met by service Adviser Nancy who upon realizing that she came within an hour of owing me a new engine was very diligent about replacing the incorrectly installed drain plug and re-changing my oil but felt the need to regale me with tales of old, pitted and unbalanced tires (new as of last month and of 2016 origin, same for alignment and balancing) being responsible for my suspension gremlins - all but suggesting that I needed four new tires. Given that the vehicle had run perfectly the day before I was not about to be subjected to a fear sell especially given Pep Boys well-earned reputation for "suggesting" incremental repairs and services. Yes, Pep Boys is convenient and they make high value coupons readily available but as for me, saving a few bucks with the three amigos is simply way too expensive. Never again at Pep Boys. read more

Be careful sneaky billing. Asked for the senior discount 10 percent. Oh can't give you that already discounted. This has happened before! This time I asked how much? $30 what senior discount is about $80! Be careful read more

Howell Pepboys is the worst! Went there for an oil change and tire rotation. Was told they couldn't get my tires off the car and that they were stuck on. When I got home I jacked the car up and took the tires off with no problem at all. They are super lazy and uneducated workers at this location. I change my own oil and do my own rotations now! Thank you pepboys. read more

Today my husband and I needed to stop in to Pep Boys and ask Nancy Clinton , the Assistant Service manager,a question about one of our cars. We have been going to Pep Boys for over 20 years and Nancy is consistently knowledgeable and explains things to us In detail. This is a very reassuring quality when your car needs service. I would recommend Pep Boys in Howell NJand especially Nancy. We moved from the area and are 45 minutes away, and still take cars there because Nancy is consistently trustworthy and extremely knowledgeable. Sent from my iPhone read more

June 8, 2021 Pep Boys Automotive and Tony are the BEST!!!! Pet Boys Howell has been servicing my 2014 Hyundai Elantra since the start. Roughly one month ago, I started hearing this awful noise whenever I turned my steering wheel and also while parking. During this time, the noise was only getting louder and worse, with neighbors thinking it was my rotors?? On May 29th, brought car in to Pep Boys Howell for a diagnostic test. After not waiting for too long, Tony handed me back my car keys saying," your car is now all done with no charge. The gold plate inside had moved and we were able to put it back into place". This occurrence made SO made my holiday weekend!!! I cannot thank Pep Boys enough for not taking any advantage of a female customer, in her mid 40's. I have lots of previous stories I can share about not so honest mechanics, working on my CARS. Pep Boys Howell has earned my complete loyalty. I will recommend them to anyone!! (that doesn't want to get ripped off with any vehicle maintenance and repairs) THANK YOU, Rori S. (one happy customer - in Morganville, NJ :) read more

It's no secret that I'm fed up with the Pep Boys. However the last couple of times I went to my new favorite parts store the sale items were out of stock. I hate when that happens. Took a ride to my second favorite parts store...closed. Insert profanity laden phrase here. Next closest store...Pep Boys. They had what I needed at the same price as the other store. And their prices were in line with the other store. And after rebates they were actually better. I hate rebates though. Why can't they just give it to you at the sale price instead of making you fill out stupid forms? In all fairness all the auto parts stores do it. They think we're all idiots. The service was as lackluster as I remember it. I still hate it here. read more

My daughter brought our car in to diagnose a check engine light. The repair quote felt high, so I had her pick up the car and take it to my local VW dealership for a second opinion. She drove onto the highway where the business is located and the car almost immediately shut down, putting her in a very dangerous situation. I had to have the car towed to a dealership and the technician there found that a shop rag had been stuffed into the air box intake in the engine and was sucked into the throttle body, causing the engine to seize. I was advised that the rag would have caused pretty immediate engine issues and Pep Boys was the only place to have been under the hood of my car in recent months. Whether through negligence or outright malicious intent, the tech at Pep Boys who looked at my car put my daughter and other drivers at serious risk, not to mention the additional repair cost I incurred to have the rag and fibers cleaned out of the engine. read more

Poor customer service. I called to reschedule an appointment, a guy named Murray (or so he said) answered the phone, before I could explain what was going on, he hung up on me. I couldn't get my car started and understood that they had towing services, but because he hung up on me, I had to call Mavis to assist me. I WILL NEVER EVER GO TO PEP BOYS AGAIN AND I TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO GO ELSEWHERE. THANKS FIR LEAVING ME STRANDED!! read more

OK, so I was happy with service and even happier when informed of 70.00 rebate. Yahoo!!! NOT Rebate is a prepaid VISA card with restrictions one of which is the fact that card MUST be used at a Pep Boys store? Really? No one mentioned this little oops. Always feel like I'm getting scammed at Pep Boys which I probably am. Piss poor attitudes with all counter folks. Always feel like they're the customer and I'm the service person. Girls a register same garbage. Guess the so called rebate was the icing on the cake The straw that broke the camels back. Always feel like I'm dealing with a shady bunch. The sales person made no mention of the fact that rebate has to be used in Pep Boys. I've been to that store 5 times in 12 years and always for tires. Now I'm getting a 70.00 pre-paid Visa with restrictions and exp date. read more

Absolutely, terrible! These CLOWNS @ Pep Boys #4204 were NASTY from the jump! Ordered my tires through TireRack.com since, how dare me; I didn't feel like paying 40% MORE...for the EXACT, SAME TIRES through PepBoys! Since this was my first time doing on line tire purchasing, I just wanted to confirm a few things; the delivery of the tires, installation cost, AND....more so; my appointment time. The guy who answered the phone was SNARKY & SNIPPY with his answers/responses, but nevertheless; I was guaranteed by this CLOWN... that the appointment that I book through the TireRack portal, was...well,...GUARANTEED! Get there to have my tires installed and GUESS....WHAT?!!? SHOCKER! They say it's going to be FOUR....HOURS!?! They had me by the "you-know-whats" as I had to be on the road that afternoon. Otherwise, I'd have gone, elsewhere! As in,....ANYWHERE, elsewhere! Save yourself some time, aggravation & headaches and stay as FAR...AWAY from these CLOWNS, as possible!! That is,...unless you enjoy wasting your TIME & MONEY! If #4204...."frowns upon"....doing Third Party work from "competitors", then simply EXCLUDE YOURSELVES from their contractee list, MORONS! Don't....pass your resentment or disdain on to PAYING, CUSTOMERS,...who....no matter how you shake it....are still (essentially) PUTTING MONEY IN YOUR POCKETS,...IDIOTS!! read more

I have a love hate relationship with Pep Boys. I love them when they have what I need and I hate them when for some reason they don't. It really seems to be a fifty fifty shot you have to at this location. I went in to get something for my Chevy and of course they had it. I went in to get something for my Jeep thinking it's a Jeep I see tons of Jeeps on the road. Well yeah there are tons of Jeeps on the road which I why they were all out of stock on what I needed. This location being on Route 9 I do understand they are in a prime location to go through stock pretty quickly but it does stink when they don't have what you need. About the store though I've never had any problems with employees. If you are comfortable working on your car you have probably been to one of these before and you know what they are all about. This location is not bad and is usually fairly clean and organized as well. Just keep in mind it's location hurts you as far as whether or not they may have stock in that part you are looking for. read more

Totally unprofessional and they lie. My headlight bulb blew with the cold weather. Asked if we bought the bulb before purchasing if they could put it in. We were told they could. So we bought the twenty dollar bulbs only to be told it would be a two hour wait just for them to put bulbs in if not longer because they were so "busy." Wind up having to then drive an hour home in a snow storm with no working headlights. Lied to make a sale, last time I'll be using pep boys. And was totally rude on top of it as if I were some inconvenience. read more

Andrea got me in and out in record time and saved my night. Thank you for your Customer Obsession!

Pep Boys on rt. 130 in Bordentown NJ has the best customer service I've seen in a long time. Jason the front desk manager went out of his way to find me the parts I needed and even called me back when he found my parts at a much cheaper price than he originally quoted. A few weeks later he called me when pep boys had a really great tire sale only because I refused to replace the first time because I just didn't want to spend the $$$! But the sale was too good to pass up so he got my car right in and the mechanics there once again did a fast fantastic job, they are very knowledgeable and always do a fast, clean job and always double check your car for any other problems they see now or problems that may occur in the future. Highly recommend. read more

Tony, the service manager, fixed my headlight in like an hour for a low price! Outstanding!

This store always has what I need. The spark plugs and the butter to remove the spray paint worked amazing.

tony at howell is the best very honest and professional. he will not rip you off and works with you. thanks tony for being there for me.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Made an appointment to have an oil change online in the morning, went into the store at 5pm waited in line for almost 20 minutes to be told that the appointment didn't go through even though I had an email confirmation and texted a confirmation. You had the opportunity for a new customer because I stopped going to Sears. I will NEVER go back and I will make sure everyone I know doesn't come here either.
