Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience at this PepBoys location. I first want to start off by saying customer service is something that is very important to me as I work in a career where I am faced with a lot of great moments and challenging moments when showing customer care. With that, I'm very understanding and patient when things are out of other peoples control when you're asking for services. I had an appointment for 1 PM which I dropped off my car to get an inspection on what it appeared to be, my rotors and brake pads serviced. Will, who was the only one that I had a good experience with in regards of customer service informed me that it was going to take an hour in order for them to complete the inspection. That was totally understandable as it seemed like they were of course busy (for further contexts I went during a weekday because I knew on a weekend it was going to be jampacked. However, I also know that even during the weekday I do understand that there could have been a chance of there being a lot of customers) I waited about an hour and a half to two hours before I went to check on an update of my car (because now one called me for an update or anything) When I went inside, another employee informed me that my car was not inspected, and I noticed that it was sitting in the same spot where I parked it. I asked if there were any updates on an estimated time of inspection as it was two hours past my appointment. He then responded saying I don't really know as you can see we have a lot of people who cars that we are currently servicing. Again, I completely understand things get backed up, and there are certain things that are out of our control. However, when it comes to customer service, it's all about your response, your delivery/tone, and providing information that is feasible to the customer. I wish my experience was different and he could've communicated to me with updates about my car along the way before I waited two hours only for them to tell me they're unsure of when my car is going to be examined. I decided to retrieve my keys and go down the street to Firestone, where they were a lot of help and assisted me through, the process of getting my repairs. Again, I want to highlight when it comes to service and being in situations that are uncontrollable, how you respond and show care to the customer is important! read more

The worst service experience I have ever had. I called every couple of hours because the shop said they would call me with a quote. Every time I would call they would tell me that the tech is trying to get a part, or he's still looking at it. Then when I get there after 6 and after my truck has been in their possession since noon, the tech at the front says "Oh they haven't gotten to my truck it's still on the awaiting estimate pile. I told the guys at the beginning that I am not from this area and if they can't fix it I need to take it somewhere else but they insisted the could get it done. Lo and behold I go walking out to my car and it was fixed. Still never was called to authorize the work to be done. This experience reminded me why I stopped using this company on the past. This has to be the worst auto mechanic customer service I've ever encountered. I had an 8:00am appointment,I was there at 7:55 before the lights were on. I waited 35 minutes to find out it was gonna be a while. Are you serious!? I was the 1st person here and not to mention I was there before the mechanics I watched them walk in...looking half sleep with no enthusiasm. I can't believe a franchise business can't keep an appointment especially the 1st appointment of the day. The customer service is HORRIBLE!!!! Stay away!!!! unless you want to be disappointed. i wish i could give them less than a 1star! this is the most unprofessionally operated mechanic shop ever!!! the shop takes on jobs that they know their mechanics are not qualified or have the necessary essential knowledge to handle. then, when they make poor judgement calls that reflect their lack of knowledge, their office manager demonstrates her lack of integrity and professionalism by taking up for her admittedly inexperienced mechanics and taxing the customer for her techs error in judgement. they actually let a customer leave without resetting their computer, after putting a new shift solenoid in it!! you should have seen and heard the office manager when an outside source asked her did they reset the computer?? he told her the transmission would not shift properly without the computer being reset. she said "really!!!" "i need to call him back!!!" if you make a mistake by choosing this shop, you better have your audio and video recorder ready to go!! 1 word...arbitration!!! read more

I took my vehicle to have the tires balance, tires rotated and oil change. The vehicle was still making a vibration as if the tire balance had not been done. I took the car back into Pep Boys and the manager stated I need to take it back to the dealership without even looking at the vehicle. I took the car to another reparable Auto Repair and they stated the tires had not been rotated and there wasn't a tire balance, which makes me wander did they changed the oil. A business word is their trust factor and it does a disservice to all involved, the customer and the business. If you are taking your car to Pep Boys Hiram you better check their work. read more

I had a slow leak in a tire and they were going to patch it for me, except the nail was too close to the sidewall. They sold me a replacement tire for an amazing price. I was in and out again in no time!! read more

Went here to buy tires and get alignment and balance due to a time constraint. Normally we buy tires and have alignments done at Rakestraw in Rockmart, but as I stated we had a time constraint and Rakestraw was closed. Prices were high and alignment and balance were under par, we tried to go back as the alignment was not good and the brand new tires were still shuddering, and we were told we would have to make an appointment or wait behind 5 other people. I advised the manager we shouldn't have to wait as the work was supposed to be done the first time he said nothing he could do. We walked out, and as we were walking away I noticed 2 technicians were lolly gagging in the shop area, one was sitting on a tool box on his phone the other was just wandering around aimlessly, it seemed. Will never return and DO not recommend based on price and service. read more

Two different times PepBoys said it needed an expensive parts and higher labor costs. Both times I brought it elsewhere where they said it didn't need that part and was fixed for a fraction of the cost. I don't trust PepBoys. read more

Truly remarkable! I learned I needed tires & alignment, got a few quotes, & decided to get it all done at Pep Boys. What a revelation! The work was done faster than promised, the price was the lowest of the five quotes by far, CJ was efficient & a delight to deal with, & you get free rotation & balance for the life of the tires! Subject: Brakes Work and Front Wheel Sensor Came to the Hiram location with rubbing/grinding noise when I pressed on my brakes.  Sometime my ABS light would come on and then it would go off.  Dropped the vehicle off late evening on the day before because I had a ten o'clock appointment the next day with this shop.  Shortly after my scheduled appointment which was the next day and after running a diagnostic test the front desk guy called and told me that I would need new brake pads and rotors to correct the problem.  I had new pads put on previously but he said nothing was done to the rotors. He also told me that one of the sensors on the front tire needed to be replaced.  He went on to give me a quote of one thousand plus which included a military discount.  Due to the fact that we were traveling and to avoid any risks, We went ahead and agreed to get the repair work completed in Georgia.  I told the guy at the front desk all of the above.   Shortly after 10AM on the day the work was to be completed I received a call that my vehicle was ready for pick up.  I picked the vehicle up late that evening.   When I drove it for a short period of time I started having the same problems and hearing the same noise/grinding but the sound was by far much worst than the first time I took it in.  I was told to bring it back.... which I did.  I also asked the guy at the front desk did they work on the correct vehicle??  After dropping the vehicle off a second time and waiting approximately three days, I called to see what the status of my vehicle.  At that time the guy at the front desk told me that the Repair Technician droved it around the parking lot but he did not hear or feel anything when pressing the break pedal.  At that time I informed him that the vehicle should have been test driven some place other than the parking lot to get a more accurate feeling/finding of what was happening.  I also was told that they replaced the faulty sensor that they had put in earlier. Went in the second time to pick the vehicle up and before getting my vehicle, I asked again what was done?  At that time I was told by the service manager (technician who completed the work was present) that the sensor that they replaced earlier was faulty and the loud rubbing/grinding noise was because of the bad sensor.  After getting my vehicle and less than one hours of test driving, it was doing the same thing.  At this point I was devastated,  overwhelmed, shocked, frustrated and very tired of this huge headache.  I felt that I was taken advantage of and the time and effort that were given to my vehicle on the second return should have been their top priority to try to correct the problems and return our vehicle in a timely matter.  Even though I was planning to head out of town, I went ahead and called a third time and informed the service manager that the problem is still going on.  The service manager at that time asked me to bring the vehicle back and he would get a Technician to ride with me.  At that time I informed him that I could not but would return it that following Monday or Tuesday.  However after the conversation, my husband and I agreed not to because I had not completed my COVID 19 vaccination and this task should have been completed when the vehicle was left for repair the second time.  Also, I am not " feeling it" to take my vehicle back and leaving it with this shop again.  We have given them time enough to fix the problems THEIR diagnostic test revealed, the proand my trust in them has diminished.  In closing, a very upset 69 year old female who has lost money, time, and our vehicle is still not fixed.  My questions and still wondering:  (1) Were all of the tasks listed on the invoice completed (2)  Why was our vehicle doing the same thing following the first trip to get it repaired ( 3) were they really concern about fixing our vehicle after we had paid them? (4)  How competitive is the pricing? **Note the Service Manager did asked us to return the vehicle once more...that was a "Positive" for us.  However, after the second trip, we will not pursue their services any more. read more

First time visit here because Im looking for new tire store. When Kauffman was bought by Mavis it went down hill so I need new store. Well this isnt it. I needed an alignment and I was asked if I wanted to drop it off and pick it up tomorrow. No I dont. Three bays were open and not a soul could be seen working. I have 4 driving age children and maintain 6 vehicles and I cant find a tire store worthy of my money! read more

My daughter dropped her car off here at 8:00 am on a Friday for a oil change. The guy told her it would be a couple of hours and she said that was fine that she was getting a ride to her work and would be off at 1:00 to pick it up. When she got there at 1:30 the guy acted like he didn't know what she was talking about and then told her they had not completed it and it would be another 45 minuets before they could pull it into the bay. She waited over an hour and they still had not started on her car and when she asked for her keys back and told the manager that she had to go he wasn't even seem apologetic AT ALL! read more

I left work for my 11:00 am oil change appointment and at 11:30 my car was still in the parking lot. I went up front and said I needed to go back to work and that my appointment was supposed to be at 11. The rude woman in front said it usually takes 40 minutes after the appointment time to get the car in the garage. I said "what's the point of an appointment then?" This place is so incredibly slow...whether you wait there or drop off your vehicle, no matter what service you need...plan for them to take 4 to 5 hours...the ONLY plus it that they have decent prices and you can find coupons online...their work is hit or miss I've had to return there a couple times because something wasn't fixed correctly...I won't be going back, I prefer to spend more money elsewhere, my time is too valuable. read more

Poor Customer Service. My college age son's car was towed to PB after a breakdown as he traveled on a late Saturday afternoon. He was not able to pay the $974 to repair the auto ( of course) and they not only refused to let him park the car in their lot overnight - when asked if there was a local tow truck he could store the car the very curt answer was "google it". I took my tire with a nail in it to get it fixed. After waiting 1/2 an hour they insist it cannot be repaired. The nail is in the tread of the tire not the sidewall. i have pictures to prove it. The nail is almost in the middle of the tread, nowhere near the side wall. They do this to sell you a new tire that you really don't need. I am fixing my tire at home right now. I was very disappointed with the service I received. I was 30 minutes early for my appointment i had scheduled with them and ended up staying there for 2 1/2 hours just for them to do an inspection and tell me what was wrong with my car. No work had been done to it. They gave me a ridiculously priced estimate and added unnecessary things to that estimate. I had to take my car to a professional to make sure what they were telling me was accurate. I'll never return to do business with them in the future. A total waste of time! read more

Stopped in because my tire had been losing air for several months. Everywhere else I had been to get it checked and add air had only put air in...never really looked at it. But when I took it to Pep boys, they took the tire off, inspected it, found the issue and fixed it...all free of charge. I was very impressed...nice change from places trying to rip you off. One day my usual Pep Boys location told me I needed to make an appointment online to get my oil changed. When I went online, the Hiram location that I've never used before was the only place that had available appointments that day, so I made one for mine and my husband's cars. I used Pep Boys all the time, and I had a coupon for an oil change. For my newer car, the lady at the counter began insisting that my car would only accept the $80 synthetic oil change instead of the $20 oil change I had a coupon for. I've never used synthetic oil in my life, and my car allows for either synthetic or regular, so I knew this was an up-selling lie. When I tried to decline and get the regular oil change, she refused to service my vehicle, claiming that they can't go against the coding in their system and regular oil won't work and my oil cap says so (she never left the desk). I asked her to come out and look at my oil cap to verify that this was not accurate, but she just got more and more of an attitude and refused. With our older, clunker car, they suddenly found a problem with it that no other shop has mentioned before or after this visit. I don't remember exactly, but it was some valve or cap issue. They said I'd have to be willing to pay $700 for a new part if the old one broke off during the oil change, and that I'd have to sign off on that agreement before they would change the oil. Mind you, this car isn't even worth $1,000, so I didn't find that kind of fee acceptable, especially when they were speculating on the issue without even really looking at the car and trying to get us to sign off on an "in case" repair. I know how bad car shops work, "just in case" turns out to miraculously happen and then you're stuck with the bill - but if you ask for the old part in a box to inspect, magically the part doesn't need worked on any more and repaired itself! How about I'll decide to tow my car to the junk yard if it breaks an expensive part and you just change my oil like my regular Pep Boys location has dozens of times before? The attitude of the lady was too much to put up with. We left the location with nothing being done, drove to the nearest Walmart TLE, had NO problems, complaints, or issues, and have been using them ever since.
