This unprofessional visit to your store on yesterday..... I took off for work to get my problem resolved. When i arrived, 30 min earlier he ask what was the problem, I said I had appointment at 2 I told him my name he said can't see me cuz of short staff. i said ok and proceeded to walk out then turn around and ask him why, he or your company didnt email me or call to reschedule my appointment. I took off and drive a hour! this was a bad experience for my first time to your company. Went in for a wheel alignment got told it would be 130 plus 20$ because I had a 2020 . After my check up got told my tire were off a little bit to the left not even much I said ok let's get it aligned. Paid 175$ . I drove off the lot and my truck was still going to the left. read more

I went to this location because I had a dead battery and they said that they were able to fix it. When I got there the employee at the desk told me to turn off my car, and I ended up waiting several hours without being told what the price would be. I knew it would be more expensive going here because of labor cost but I was not expecting to pay nearly 50% more for a car battery than what is advertised at many other locations in the Charleston area. I was stuck since they had told me to turn off my car and forced to accept getting ripped off. I spoke with a customer service rep who told me that their batteries are special which is why they are more expensive than everywhere else. I recommend going anywhere else. if you have to go here get pricing written down before handing over the keys. read more

I took my car into Pep Boys in West Ashley to have the A/C checked out. It was blowing hot air. Was told they would call with an estimate before repairing. Received a call saying the work was done and received a $585.00 bill for recharge and adding Freon, no charge for diagnostic testing. Less than 2 weeks later it was blowing hot air again. Took it back to Pep Boys to be told that now they would do a diagnostic test and we wouldn't be charged for it. A little while later we were presented with a quote of $3,000 to repair the A/C. And there wouldn't be a charge for recharging and adding Freon because it was still under warranty. I sent the quote to my son who is a mechanic in another state and unable to come to Charleston to do the repairs and he couldn't believe that all those things were wrong with a 7 year old car with less than 40,000 miles on it. We took it to a local repair shop that we found on the internet and they did a diagnostic test before presenting us with a quote for repairs. The quote was 1/3 of Pep Boys and included recharging and Freon added. Apparently Pep Boys were trying to cover their butts by doing repairs that weren't necessary an probably be overcharging for the repairs. Repair shop we took it to only charged $350.00 for a recharge and Freon. That's $235.00 less than Pep Boys. Needless to say we will not be taking any of our vehicles back there and definitely won't be recommending them to anyone that we know. Should be asking for a refund! read more

On July 25, 2026 We went to the Pep Boys on Savannah Hwy in West Ashley, Charleston for a scheduled appointment to get our a/c checked out. Upon arrival we explained to the assistant manager that our a/c on our 2019 Nissan Altima started blowing hot air. We requested it to be checked, diagnose the problem and contact us prior to repair with the estimated cost for repair. Several hours later, I was contacted by Pep Boys and she stated our vehicle is ready for pick up. I explained to her that I was not contacted prior to the repairs being done as requested. She explained the mechanic recharged and refilled my unit with freeon. She stated this service came with a 1year or 12,000 mile guarantee. The cost was $585! Two weeks later my vehicle is back to blowing hot air. We returned it and they stated they would WAIVE the diagnostic fee, well gee thanks! The mechanic checked the vehicle and I was given an estimate of over $3000 to replace the a/c compressor, condenser and expansion valve but they would WAIVE the refrigerant refilling. A different manager told us the previous manager at Pep Boys we spoke to was incorrect on the warranty and they only guaranteed the a/c refill for 30 days. We took our vehicle and will never ever go to Pep Boys or refer them anyone else. Horrible way of doing business! read more

I'm very thankful for the prompt and honest service from Pep Boys. I brought my flat tire to a Costco appointment, but the wait was still 90 min. I called Pep Boys and they were able to get me in and assess the problem. The puncture could not be repaired due to its location- it would be unsafe. They could have plugged it or sold me a new tire, and I would not have known better. Instead they reminded me of my warranty and recommended I bring the tire back to Costco for a replacement. Although, I was still stuck temporarily, as I await my next appointment, I was not ripped off. I was treated with respect and kindness. read more

Oil change. Put in all the info for my vehicle and scheduled an oil change. Got there after a pain to get there and they said oh we don't do Audis. They went on to say they dont do most European vehicles because the oil levels are confirmed on the vehicles instrument panel not a dipstick. Made an Appointment online for 3pm. Got there at 2:50pm and heckled in but was told they couldn't get to my car for atleast an hr. So an hr later yep they started on my car, then another 45mins later it was done. They claimed you get a tire rotation with any oil change. Guess they thought I wasn't waiting for my car because they must use the quietest air compressor I have ever heard! I was around the corner and watched them, they never did the tires but put on my receipt they did it. As I sat there listening to everyone call in with problems the front desk would just say drop your car off tomorrow we close at 6pm but all the tech leave at 5pm. The place over all is just dirty. Who ever owns this place needs an overhaul. Explains why it's the cheapest oil changes out there. They also have a $3 supply fee added into your bill. read more

Sunday, June 9, 2024 I had two flat tires. One was replaced by my spare. I had the car towed to Pep Boys. I approached the receptionist about getting two tires. She didn't greet me at all. I asked her if they could replace my tires. She said No, they didn't have my tires. No offer to order them or anything else. She had a very mean demeanor. I went into the filthy waiting room, sat down and cried because I didn't know what to do next. It was 100 degrees outside and I'm a 77 year old woman that uses a cane to get around. When I got myself together, I walked in front of her desk, I told her she was very mean. She told me that I was mean because she didn't have my tires. I said I wasn't angry, I was disappointed. Some nasty words were said between the two of us. My insurance company called another tow truck. I went outside in the heat rather than sit in that filthy place. read more

I made an online appointment at 4 o'clock to have my tires installed, I arrived at this shop with the ladies upfront to tell me they don't have time to do it because they already have a 4 o'clock appointment in the bay with only one person installing tires. I've dealt with other Pep Boys in the past and I've had no issue. However, this one I would definitely not come to you again. read more

I went in last week for oil change and tire rotation. I'm currently borrowing a friends vehicle and as it turned out, the tires were dry rotted and needed replaced. They ordered them on Saturday and the new tires were in by following Monday. I would honestly return here for the customer service I received. I was new, but felt like I was treated like a regular or dare I say--friend. The guys at the desk were very friendly to me and even cut up with me some. Let alone Pep Boys employees lacking empathy, but also they demonstrated rude customer services by disrespectfully responding to our questions from the very first conversation to finally hanging up the phone abruptly in mid-conversation when I asked for his name for the negative attitudes throughout the encounter. Poorly trained or uninformed representatives miscommunicated with us frequently during our brief encounter (store was closed before the advertised business hours, told to pick up the vehicle, but when I got there, I was told too soon to pick up, etc. Miscommunication between the employees about my request on specifics of inspection and also about the exact inspection results, in addition, they couldn't find my key upon completion of service). Sadly, lack of resolution on my end as to what's wrong with the vehicle after all the work and money I spent. I came here to get a tire repaired (thanks Charleston roads). I called ahead to make sure my car could be taken care of that day, as I was leaving town the next morning. They said it could be so I dropped it off. I received a text message that said I could follow along with the service which seemed cool, however by the end of the day, my car still hadn't been assigned to a technician. I gave them a call and was put on hold for a long time while they tried to figure out what happened. Apparently whoever I gave my car too dropped the ball. They quickly told me a ridiculous price and said none of my tires were under warranty. I know for a fact 2 of them are since I added it at their location but they seem not to have a record of that. They also said they wouldn't be able to finish my car until the following day. While this place is walking distance from my house which makes it convenient, after this experience, I won't be back. read more

Service and in particular, Brian the mgr, was horrible. Lost our key fob then said we put keys in wrong drop slot...kidding me WTF?! Showed up at 1000 on Thu after dropping previous Sat. Obviously tire never got replaced. We went to breakfast 4 mins away in order to give them time to find fob. Call received at 1150 that fob was found. Your car will be ready between 3-4. 3+ more hours instead of getting a call that they found the fob and are pulling it in immediately, ready in 30 mins. Worst tire experience ever. Update 10/13/23: As we drove away after finally getting the tire fixed, Audrey noticed car pulled badly to the right...aka, balance was not done properly on new tire. Took my car in on a Saturday morning 10am to have my front tires replaced. Greeted by several very cooperative and helpful salespersons. Chose some suitable tires and was informed a few hours wait time. Not a problem, so I sat around for a couple of hours and went out to have a second look at my car. Upon inspection decided to have one of my front tires saved on the rim as-is to use for a spare, and have my spare tire discarded and use the rim for my second front tire. This is where the problems started; The two helpful salespersons were no longer present and the one that was seemed to have an issue with understanding my request about which rim to use for the second tire. He said sure, but you'll need to pay an extra 20 for another tire mounted and balanced. I attempted to explain to him there was only two tires(the new ones) that had to be mounted and balanced, just use the spare rim instead of the second on the front. He started getting argumentative so I waited a few minutes and tried to explain again, but he insisted on talking to me at the same time I was talking to him and communication was impossible. I canceled the order at that time and having wasted my entire morning, drove off to find another tire store. Bottom line: Seemed like a nice place to do business until the front was turned over to a clerk with 0 communications skills and an ugly attitude. read more

The selection of products ranged much wider than typical auto parts places I've been and the store was clean and well organized. The moment I walked in the door I was offered assistance and she knew exactly where to find the item I needed. They also do full service repairs and have 4 or 5 bays on the side of the building... good to know. And they offer free wifi so bring your laptop and get your car worked on. read more
