My daughter's car cut off on her a couple of days ago. She decided to take her car to Pep Boys to get it checked out. The person who waited on her told her to drop her car off the next day, put the keys in the dropbox snd when the store opens at 9 am someone would look at it. The next day that's exactly what she did and went to church, had some lunch and decided to call to see what the problem was since she didn't hear from them. The guy that answered the phone told het he never checked the car because he thought she was a customer who had just walked out of the store around the time she dropped it off. That makes absolutely no sense. He called her back and told her it was her alternator, $700. And she needed one of her tires fixed. He didn't take time to check her warranty and charged her for the tire repair. She had to ask him to check her warranty. He was totally nonchalant about it. We decided to go to another repair shop. It wasn't the alternator, it was the battery!!! Unbelievable read more

I had a service with Bob. He was very helpful and gave me fantastic service. Thanks Bob.

I had an appointment at 11am. The appointment was confirmed by the shop. When I got here, the manager had to leave and he said he would be back later, leaving only one worker in the shop. Before he left, the manager told me I should be good to go in 30 minutes. I am currently sitting in the waiting area and it is 20 after 12pm! I still have my keys and I haven't even been checked in. My appointment was over an hour ago and I haven't even been updated about when I will be helped. What's the point of appointments if I still have to wait hours to be helped?! Nobody is at the desk and the phone keeps ringing but not getting answered. So unprofessional! I almost want to ask if they need an administrative assistant because it seems like they don't have enough bodies in the building. UPDATE! It is 1:22pm and my car is still not done. All I needed was an oil change. read more

Very Unprofessional & I do not recommend this location "whatsoever". Staff is not pleasant at all! Onsite for a tire to be plugged & told it would be an hour & a half, for a 20 minute service. I scheduled the appointment online ahead of time, to avoid unnecessary wait time. Never again will I waste my time & gas, when I have had better service elsewhere. To top it off, the waiting room is Absolutely Disgusting & it appears it hasn't been cleaned EVER! UGH Definitely Find Somewhere Else to Service Your Vehicles! Customer Service Obviously is Not a Requirement. read more

Pep Boys -Joppa Rd, Towson Arrive for an scheduled appointment, only to be told they don't have a technician. A tech will be in the afternoon but they are booked. The person proceeds to cancel my appointment in front of me. 2 minutes later, I receive an email, "We're sorry, you couldn't make your appointment. Would you like to reschedule?" I'm standing right there! No suggestions/accommodations to make it right or anything! My morning is wasted. Not to mention, I previously purchased a lifetime wheel alignment package 2 months ago!!! read more

Made an appointment for Tire repair at 8am. I arrived 15 minutes early. The shop does not open until 8am. Service advisor arrives 8:06 am. I give him a few minutes to get settled before I enter the store at 8:09 am. The advisor asks what can he help me with and I respond that I have an appointment for tire service. He then tells me that they are entirely booked for the day. At this point, I am utterly confused as there was only one other person waiting for the shop to open, who appeared to be an employee. He claims to have attempted to contact me the previous day and upon checking my phone I had received no such phone call or email. Why are appointments necessary if you're turned away when there are no other customers and you arrive on time? read more

If I could give them a zero I would. 11/30/23 This PepBoys in Towson, Maryland is a big time disgrace to PepBoys as a whole cooperation. A whole joke, you are better off going to a different location. I love the PepBoys back in the Montgomery County Area so I was expecting the same service and professionalism. However that is not the case. I arrived at 3:00 pm with an appointment for an oil change. First of all as soon as you enter it reeks of marijuana. You will be shocked at what happens next. Somehow, someway, the manager DJ ( David G) WITH THE DREADS, took my keys home to his personal residence. Unbelievable. At that point I should have called the police because how is that even possible. However Corey ( store member who closed that night) notified me that the oil change was performed which actually ended up being a lie. The manager (DJ) did not return to the store until hours later. Mind you I am a health care worker who just finished a 12 hour shift and I deal with all types of craziness but this one takes the cake. Finally DJ arrives to the store and says that since he is the manager he is able to compensate me with extra services for the amount of time wasted and no oil change performed that day. DJ gave me a receipt of what extra services I would receive and instructed me to come the next day (12/1/23) anytime between opening until 6:30 PM. Day 2: I called the PepBoys and spoke to COREY and told him that I am coming to get the oil changes and extra services as promised. I arrived and gave COREY the receipt and you know what he does. He said that DJ (manager) does not know what he was doing and wrote up a completely different ticket eliminating what DJ had put. Now my check engine light is on and I am further distraught and even wondering if an actual oil change was performed. I am so upset with this service and I will never be returning this particular location. Don't say I did not warn you. I read more

Very sad to say, I cannot take my vehicle here ever again. They've done fine work with my oil changes every now and then, but when I got my car back, there was damage on my side skirt right by the driver side front jacking point. Clearly the technician tried to jack up my car with the lift arm improperly aligned on the seam. He probably started lifting the car, then once the lift took up all the pressure, the arm somehow caught the underside of the skirt. The skirt is clearly pushed upwards/outwards. Either that or the tech put the jack arm under the plastic to begin with. When I returned to show the damage the tech approached me and said he had done my oil change. No offense to him, and I can completely understand how he may have not perfectly positioned a lift arm, but customer cars should never be returned with damage they didn't come in with. They wanted to fix it with a nut and bolt to try and return the skirt closer to the body, as it looked when I brought it in. Which I thought was a weird way of going about proper bodywork, just tell me to go to a body shop. I will have my car in a body shop to have the damage addressed, seeing as there's nothing they can really do but say sorry. read more

My car started making weird noises on a Saturday night around 8pm so I hopped online to try to find an auto repair shop open on a Sunday. I made the appointment online for 9am and it was super easy. No hassle. I got there the next morning and was greeted by Corey who was very friendly. My car was ready to be picked up by around 2. Corey was the one who took care of contacting me and making sure I knew what was going on the whole day and I thought he was great. He made sure I was aware my purchase qualified for a mail-in rebate. I would return to this Pep Boys. Service was very friendly and done in a timely manner! read more

I like that they have service hours on Sundays. Regardless of whether or not you make a service appointment. Pack a snack, a book, and your patience. you'll be here a while. Corey is personable and does a really good job of keeping you informed on the status of your repair. The service is safe and I trust them for routine things. For big things I would look for a more comprehensive shop. Be wary of the parts and stock guy. He's always very frazzled, and short tempered. Could use a dose of Zen in his life. if you have questions or need suggestions, you are certainly not on his agenda. Otherwise my overall experience here is fine. read more

I've used this Pep Boys in the past for service and sales. It hasn't always been perfect, but I truly do appreciate the fact management makes things right if a mistake was made. In specific, Chad who I believe is part of the management here is usually the one that corrects anything if a mistake does happen. With that being said, the overall sales and service center do a great job at recommending products and performing maintenance on your personal vehicle. I would trust leaving my vehicle at this Pep Boys location. Now, when I talk about a mistake, I mean something along the lines of an inconvenience. I had an appointment in the morning, and was called stating it would be a delay to have my vehicle serviced. Thanks to this courtesy call, it gave me an opportunity to either reschedule or wait the time. read more

Wow, never would have guessed that I'd get such excellent service! One of my headlights went out today, and I work in Rockville so I had to hurry to a shop before it got dark. The guy on the phone said that as long as I'd get there before 7:30 they'd be able to replace it. Surely enough, I walk in, I am politely greeted and in less than 5 minutes the guy had my car in. In a little under ten minutes total, my car was back out and the headlight was replaced! Both guys that were in were very helpful with questions I had about my car! read more

I would probably rate lower if I could. Came in to buy a full set of tires in a pinch because I was set to leave for Florida in the morning. 1st- they called and told me they had my tires and to come down. When I got there, they didn't have the right set. 2nd- When they got the right tires 1.5 hrs later, they took 2.5 hrs to put them on. 3rd- they installed them backwards. So I made an appointment before I left the store for the following weekend 4th- they charged me $150 more than I was quoted for the exact same tire on their website and still didn't give me roadside.. So In the long run they charged me $250 more. When I ask about it they gave me a whole run around about specific tires etc. settled on the web site doesn't include taxes and shop fees! $250 tax and shop fees!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! 5th- I left the next morning for Florida and heard a noise the entire trip. I kept checking every time I stopped without finding anything. When I got to Florida, took it to a shop and they found that I had been given a faulty tire (out of round). Instead of telling me, they stacked weight in it so thick that the weights were hitting the brake caliper and that was the noise I heard. 6th- came back for the appointment that was scheduled a week and a half earlier (and confirmed by them calling me the night before), and had to wait 1.5 hrs before they even got to my truck. PLUS another 2.5hrs for them to complete the repairs......... In summation: THIS STORE is NOT the same pep boys corporation that my father took his truck to for years for everything. I can't say it is company wide, but this store has deviated so far from the old business motto that they need to revamp the entire repair/service department. Cathy was my advisor... read more

Are you kidding me? This location should be shut down and automated. My wife's headlight burned out. I went on YouTube to figure out how to extract the lightbulb from her Camry. This is my fault, I should I continued my research to ascertain the exact number associated with this bulb so as to idiot proof buying the replacement. But I didn't. Instead I went to Pep Boys, brought the burnt out bulb and asked to buy a replacement. My bad. Most people who actually physically visit a retail location do so in order to tap into a higher level of understanding. And service. Not here. I gave the burnt bulb to the moron at the counter (H11 for those of you keeping score). The dufus sold me a B1. Yep. Dumbass smiled and took my money. He must hate his job. When it wouldn't fit, I pulled the manual, saw I should have asked for a H11 instead of trusting that the PEP Boys actually have a friggin clue. Yeah, my bad. I ordered the correct bulb from Amazon. I will never, ever, buy anything from these retail morons again. Who is the dufus now? My recommendation is to either know exactly what you want before you enter this kingdom of incompetence, or pass it by and instead buy what you need off of Amazon. read more

I have taken my father here to have his car repaired a few times. They have always given him good prices and treated him with courtesy. He's up an age and I always like to support businesses that treat seniors with respect. I have been pleased with the service and the representative Corey is always professional. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because I haven't been there for several months and I am unsure of whether the service is the same. Also, sometimes there is a slight wait. In a way, this is a good sign because they do a steady business. But you need to be prepared and willing to wait if you are planning to hang around while they work on your car. It is worth the wait; it's my experience they do things right. Pep Boys is open on Sundays. Hooray! read more

I brought my car in for an oil change and because it was making a rubbing noise when coasting. After searching the internet, I knew that it could be a wide range of problems. I made an appointment online, and dropped off my car. Everything went perfectly. Within an hour of opening the next morning, I received a phone call from the mechanic, who was very friendly and explained the possibilities. They checked out my car and told me that all they could find were two nails in my tire, which they patched for FREE. They then gave me a list of things that would probably need to be looked at in the next few months (a belt, new tires; my car has 62,000 miles on it). I picked up my car; the entire cost was only $40 (I got synthetic oil). I was expecting to pay possibly several hundred, given the different things it could have been. I appreciate the honesty of the folks who worked on my car. They earned a long-term customer! read more

I recommend pep boys, great customer service and affordable prices. I came in for a tire repair and was finished in less than an hour.

If i could give this store -1000 stars i would!!!!! The customer service here is beyond pathetic! I've never went to a store that was extremely rude, disrespectful and I'm willing to help a customer! Today Sunday 2/25 around 2pm i came into the store to purchase front and back break pads for my car. I usually take my car to the dealership but did not this time. i Walked in and didn't see anyone so i walked to the back counter, the man working the counter was squatting down eating his lunch. ( i didn't have an issue with that because i know some companies don't give employees breaks) he didn't chew and swallow his food before he began talking to me ( which made it harder to understand him because he had food in his cheeks the entire time he was talking) instead of him greeting me or even saying excuse me he says " oh god" with a nasty attitude as if me being there was a problem. I began to tell him what I'm looking for and he goes " wait a minute I'm not ready" again with a nasty attitude! so i want for him to get ready and he starts complaining about a computer that doesn't work. Than i began to tell him what I'm looking for and he goes " yea well what kind of breaks pads, there's more than one" i have no idea to be honest and this is where I'm hoping pep boys would educate me a bit. ( after all you are a store that sells automotive equipment) after that i explain to him that i can pull up the list i was given on my phone he RUDELY says " i don't have time for all of that" so i proceed to guess. Before i looked anything up on the computer he asked me, what kind of engine, make and model, and a few other questions. When i explained to him i didn't know the exact model but i could pull it up and show him. He stares at me and says " you don't know what you're talking about you need to call someone" I said " you know what you're rude and I'll just go somewhere else" Again he goes " it's not my fault you don't know what you're talking about" IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMETS PEP BOYS? how rude and disrespectful Luckily i walked out, didn't spend a dime of my money here. Quick Verdict - Take your business elsewhere if you value your time and money The problem: Had a tire pressure sensor warning on my car. Called up pep boys and was told that it could either be a case of reprogramming the sensor or replacing it. Asked if the sensor was available and was told yes. Asked for an estimate on time and was told that it would take 15 minutes for reprogramming or an hour for the sensor to be changed. Was given an appointment at 2PM The experience: Reached pep boys at 1:45 - the person who I spoke to was out for lunch. A technician said they won't look at my car till 2PM. I said ok, since that was my appointment time anyway. Handed over my keys and waited outside. 2:45 now, and still nobody had taken the car in. Went in and asked and they couldn't find my keys. They said I hadn't handed the keys over. I said I did. Another 15 minute search later they found it with one of the technicians. By now it's 3. Already the time I thought I'd be out. Ten minutes later and my car is still in the lot. I then ask the manager, how long is it going to take? They now say, we're sorry, we are going to take it in just now. It will take an hour to replace the sensor. I said, how did you determine whether the replacement was needed when you haven't even see the car or reprogrammed the sensor? At this point it's 3:30 and my car is still in the parking lot. Went in, said that when I come in for a 2PM appointment for an hour, I expect it to begin at 2 and end at a reasonable time. Was told the auto industry is kind of like the doctors office. We cannot commit to any time. Well, that did it. Told them, I choose my doctors wisely, maybe I need to extend that to mechanics. Asked for my keys. Said thanks for nothing and walked out. Never again. read more

I have always had great experience on buying parts here. Their parts guys are generally pretty good, especially Chuck. He is always very excited to help customers, not sure if he too much coffee in the morning, but he seems very positive about doing his job. So when my buddy, who is mechanic didn't have the time help me with a repair, I thought, why not take it to pepboys on Joppa road? So I called them to make an appointment on replacing timing, alternator, and drive belt. Dropped off at 8AM, when they opened. They told I should leave the car there, ok, that's fine. Then they called me back and suggested that I should replace the water pump as well, and charged me for parts and install. Ok, that's fine. A day later to pick up, $400+ paid, got the car back. Drove it around for about a month, power steering started to make weird noise. By then, my buddy came over and looked at it. The drive belt was jumping all over the place when the car is running, so they didn't tighten the bolt down enough, and it got loose. Then we decided to lift up the car. Guess what? The alternator bolt is missing! The alternator was holding on its dear life by the pressure of the belt! And on top of that, they took my pass side headlight off to work on the car, and broke a tab that hold the headlight. I really don't know if they did that by accident? Or the fact that they didn't tighten the bolt, and missing the alternator bolt are all care less mistakes? Or did they did that on purpose so I will have to bring my car back again and charge me a ton. This experience did not build confidence for me. I will still go there for parts, if they have it...they often run out on parts and have to go to middle river store to pick it up. However, I will not go back there for service again. That is 3 too many mistakes on one car. read more

Dave the Asst Mgr in service really showed leadership in making sure the customer is satisfied. Long story short my vehicle was kept overnight and the next day my keys were locked in the car due to miscommunication. Unfortunately I didnt have a spare and the store was closed. Dave took it upon his self to contact a locksmith and have them retrieve my keys. I had to pay for the expense out of pocket initially but Dave assured me that it would be taken care of. He even stayed after hours to make sure the job was completed. The next time I came into the shop I received a full refund for the price of the locksmith without any troubles. Dave has further reinforced the reason why I am a pep boys customer because he went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied.. Thanks Dave and thank you pep boys !! read more

Went in for a simple brake service because I had a positive experience at another Pep Boys. This shop kept me there for 6 hours just to replace the brake pads on two wheels and gave me no progress reports to explain why it was taking so long. If you plan to wait for your car DO NOT go to this shop for the simple fact they have no waiting room. Very unprofessional! This place seriously needs to work on how they treat their customers! At 8:30 am, I scheduled a 10 am appointment for a tire service using their online tool. I could not get the 9 am appointment because it was not available. So I waited until 9:30 to drive there and arrived at the shop at 9:55. This is when the guy told me that they could not keep my appointment and would like to reschedule for 12 pm. I told him that I had just spent 20 min in my car to get there and needed to go to work after the appointment. So he said, can you come back after work? I replied that I could not and I would like to retain my appointment as scheduled. He replied that that was not possible. Oh, where to start! Had a 9:30 appointment(?). Vehicle was taken in at 10:10. Scheduled for an oil change, tire rotation and patch for a tire. Their first response was the tire can't be patched (where have I heard that before?) Will be happy to put on a new tire for $180.00. I said forget about that. So they bring the vehicle out and I ask where the tire with the leak is after being rotated. They say, rotated? We didn't rotate the tires. Uh, O.K. So I go in to pay and they say no charge. I asked, no charge for the oil change? And they say 'what oil change.' By this time I think maybe I'm being punked or on candid camera. After all of this fiasco I notice my lug nut key is missing. They say it's in the cup holder..........uh, no, not there so they fumble around and return the key. Bottom line? An hour and fifteen minutes spent and nothing done! I would not recommend this Pep Boys. I went there to get all new tires. The gentleman who wrote up my ticket seemed pretty out of it. When I spoke to him, he kept looking at another employee who was manning the parts counter to his left, so I felt he wasn't really listening to me. To be fair, that employee was really loud. I was told I would have to wait an hour and a half at the most. I waited a little over two hours. The gentleman who checked me out needs to work on his professionalism. While he was checking me out the phone rang. He picked it up and instead of saying, "Can you please hold sir?, I am waiting on a customer and I will be right with you," he continues to talk to the man on the phone all the while rolling his eyes. When he got off the phone he said to me, "Sorry, that man kept going on about sh@#." I used to work in customer service and using curse words while waiting on a customer would have gotten me in a world of trouble. I purchased these tires on a Monday. The very next day, my low tire light went on. I filled up the low tire and went on my way. However, when I woke up the next day, my tire was completely flat. I had AAA put on my spare tire. I called Pep Boys and explained the situation. They said they were really booked up and probably could not fit me in. I said, what about tomorrow and they said they couldn't say for sure. I realize they have other cars to take care of but I was in this predicament because they didn't do their job correctly, so I feel they should have tried harder to fit me in quickly. I hung up the phone and decided to call the manager. She was very nice and explained that they were down employees because of a class. She suggested that I try another Pep Boys. I told her I didn't went drive far on the spare tire. I asked her when they opened and asked if I could be seen first thing. She said if they had other appointments they would have to come first and she connected me to the gentlemen I spoke to before and he said that he COULD fit me in a 8am tomorrow. I guess I will see when I get there tomorrow if I will actually be seen at that time. P.S. If you can help it, DON'T use the bathroom, YUCK! read more

Went in for an oil change because I had a coupon. It took them an Hour and a Half to do it, then forgot to rotate the tires as the coupon said they would do. So that took another half an hour. So it took 2 hours to do what Jiffy Lube can do in 25 minutes. Jiffy Lube is a little more expensive, but they have much better service, and a nice waiting area, and they clean your car. The guy behind the counter at the Pep boys seemed to have a problem saying what he thought about everything, and when I told him that I probably won't be back, he said "whatever." The manager did come out and apologized, and gave me the next 2 oil changes free, which is why it got 2 stars instead of 1. At least he recognized the problem and tried to make it right. But if you are looking for a quick in and out oil change, don't go here. If you need more extensive work done, then this is probably the place to go. They've been there a long time, so it can't be all that bad. read more
