I had a flat tire while traveling and was stranded here due to such terrible customer service provided by Madi! I did everything I could as a customer to make sure this situation went as smoothly as possible. My tow company and I called before arriving at this location to confirm they had the correct tire in stock. I specifically explained that I was traveling to Canada and needed the tire replaced as soon as possible. I was told by the agent that they had 4+ tires in stock, so I made an appointment and had my vehicle towed there from the roadside. When we arrived, before the tow truck unloaded my vehicle, I asked Madi to please take a moment to confirm that the tires were actually in stock. I explained that if they did not have the tire, there was no reason for the tow truck to leave my vehicle there. Instead of simply taking one second to check, she was extremely rude and dismissive and told me to sit down and wait. I politely asked again if she could please check before the tow truck left, but she dismissed me. We then waited nearly an hour while she served other customers. The tow truck eventually left, only for Madi to finally check the inventory and tell us that they did not have the tire in stock at all. This entire situation could have been avoided. Everyone she was helping had cars already being serviced. Nothing urgent she couldn't pause momentarily to tend to, but as they seemed to be her friends or relatives our business meant nothing. I was traveling with my child, stranded in another country without a vehicle and with limited resources. I did everything I could on my end to prevent this exact situation from happening. I called multiple locations, confirmed availability, made an appointment, arranged a tow truck, and specifically asked for the inventory to be verified before the vehicle was unloaded. Despite all of that, I was dismissed and left to deal with the consequences of something that could have been resolved with a simple inventory check. Now I have to arrange and pay for another tow truck to move my vehicle and try to resolve this elsewhere, after already losing an entire day because of this. What was most frustrating was the lack of urgency and the way Madi spoke to me. I understand that employees are busy and that things happen, but there was absolutely no reason to be rude when I was simply asking for a very reasonable confirmation that would have taken seconds. This was more than just poor service--it was a complete failure to listen to a customer who had clearly explained the situation and had done everything possible to make the process run smoothly. James, who did my breaks explained everything to a T and being a woman I didn't feel taken advantage of with not knowing what my car needed. These two deserve a raise! Well, after checking in, while waiting, I read all the one-star Yelp reviews. I told the employee that he had bad reviews. He advised me that must be from the prior service managers, which I knew was a lie based on the dates of the review, unless they just changed within the last 10 days. I thought I may have needed a new battery, so I asked if I could get a diagnostic test, I was advised NO without an appointment. Well, because I feel I'm a mechanic, I said okay I'll just buy a battery. I was advised they could put it in. Was told wouldn't take long, but it took over an hour. Maybe I'm just inpatient, but I thought an hour was long. The person helping me was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, the battery obviously wasn't my problem, as I still have the same issue, so to the dealer I go. They also didnt know the car needed to reset after replacing the battery, so in the parking, like I had to google how to reset. Lessons learned. 1. Im not a mechanic. 2- Some things you just need to stick with the dealer. I'm not sure about pricing, but it cost me 250.00 for the battery and installation. Came in to get a tire patched . My husband made the appointment the previous day . Upon arrival I was told the wait would be 30-45 minutes , so I decided to stay . After an hour I approached the gentleman who checked me in and was told my truck hadn't even been pulled into the bay yet . I asked when would it be pulled in and how much longer would the wait be ? He responded he would go ask and NEVER left his seat !! Upset by this , I called my husband and told him what was occurring . While talking , another lady overheard and offered to pull the truck in to have it serviced . This resulted in another 45 minute wait just to be told I "needed to purchase a new tire" . Wish I had read the reviews before I went. made an appointment online for inspection and it was cancelled because they said they were too busy. made another appointment for the next day 9:00 am for a simple inspection on an almost new vehicle. after 2 hours it was done and they said the total was $80.00 and told me they were failing the vehicle for streaks from the windshield wiper. first, I'm not paying $60 for windshield wipers, second I made them show me the streaks. I cleaned off the wipers and it didn't streak, they said "ma'am, you wouldn't be able to see the streaks unless it was raining". how does that even make sense??? how can you fail someone on invisible streaks that I can only see when it's raining but the windshield wiper fluids don't streak. I read google reviews and this is a common scam they pull the, especially on females on their own. Nasty, scammers. Lucas Hamilton at the front desk according to the lady I saw put the wrong odometer reading from my car when I went there to get my battery tested. It was off by almost 10k. I found out through Carfax of the incorrect reading. After voicing my displeasure the lady eventually changed the odometer reading. I got copies of the June visit and the updated reading and downloaded these to Carfax and they corrected it. So how often does this happen and do most people know when you have work done on your vehicle it is reported to Carfax because the last at the desk didn't even know this!? read more

Awful awful awful. Never had an oil change take more than 10 minutes. I waited over an hour while they had my car and I had an appointment. The guy finally put my car up and drained the oil and proceeded then to leave the car up and went on to have a literal snack and watch his phone for 15 minutes. I could see him the whole time. The oil had been drained for 25 minute before he began the next step. THEN he realized he didn't have the filter for my vehicle! AFTER draining the oil. Just terrible service. Very unorganized. Not quick at all. Made me late for things I had to do that day that I purposefully scheduled around. I won't be back to this location ever. read more

Service has been horrible from start to finish first they never called me back on my first visit their technician left for some dunkin' donuts. I show up next day they take forever to install and then end up bringing out the wrong car. I come back and a month later engine light goes on again for same issue they forget about my car again until i call back and ofc they just start going at 6:25 when they close at 7 just to charge me $250 for 20 minutes of work.Then they don't even reset the engine light. I was told, "They only check inventory the day before any appointments". The waiting area is 4 seats in a dirty, grungy environment, just off to the side of the main desk. I'm surprised the review for this Pep Boys is so low as I received amazing service! I came in to get an oil change and the complimentary tire rotation with the oil change. I also wanted to purchase new mats for the car floor. Thomas, the individual taking care of scheduling was very helpful and kind. I made an appointment and he called to verify the purpose of the appointment. He was also welcoming and kind when I arrived for my appointment. It took about 20 minutes for the oil change service and an automatic $10 was discounted as there was a promotion. An individual on the sales floor, an older white male with glasses, was also very welcoming and helpful. My battery had died and was jumped, so I went to Pepboys (4:30pm), to have them install a new one. I was told they couldnt get to it for 2 days. so went to AutoZone, done in 10 minutes. Pep boys on Niagara Falls Blvd is very bad shop. 1 When I was making an appointment they gave me price for 4 tires (byu 3 get 1 free). When the tires where installed they gave me different price - higher. And it was higher then at the few their competitors. When I asked questions the manager was extremely rood.He definitely didn't like the fact I was speaking with the accent. I used to own business for 21 years. I would newer allow my employees talk to customers this way. 2. In two days I caught a screw. Again the same manager said I have to buy new tire, because I didn't buy protection, which he never offer me in the first place. He was even more rood. 3. Couple of days later I called Pepp boys home office with the complaint and explained my problem. They apologized and said someone from the store will get back to me. Week later nobody called. I called them again. They apologized again, said somebody gonna definitely get back to me. Nobody did again. So I'm not surprised that I received terrible service. I recently came to this location for an oil change and diagnosis June 16th so they can scope out my new truck and based on the results they said everything was fine. Now everything was okay for a while but 2 weeks after my oil change on June 30th my car started having problems first it cut off on me then when it started up there was a knocking in my engine when I checked the dip stick there was literally no oil on it at all (mind you 2 weeks after an oil change) next day they tell me to tow it to their location and they were closed 40 minutes early so I had to leave it in the lot, next day comes and I'm telling them what's wrong and their not taking any responsibility they're trying to blame a small leak or potential engine issue yet neither of those results in a bone dry dip stick also my engine only pulled one code prior which was for an O2 sensor but now there's 2. As for right now I'm being told I'm just going to have to lose my truck even though none of this happened until I went to the guys and I see from the reviews I'm not the only one who came out with major problems after having services done there read more

I brought in Saturn Vue 2007 to Pepboys location 1025 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14226. I had purchased it March 17 2024 and brought in March 18 2024 for 120 inspection and other services. I let the technicians know that I had brought vehicle the day before and if it had any major issues I had 24 hours to return it to private seller brought from. Whomever the technician(s) failed to properly inspect vehicle and passed it for new york state inspection. May 22, 2024 I had vehicle towed to Firestone 995 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14226 for AC Compressor and Serpentine belt. The technician evaluated the vehicle and fought that it shouldn't of passed inspection in March due to rear railing arm mounting points being rotted off, trailing arms not attached to vehicle,bushings control and arm heavily damaged cracked and missing pieces. I contacted the pepboys on May 23 and spoke with the manager William. He was not helpful and provided no solution. I requested information for the district manager and he did not provide just a name. He said he would contact district manager and get back to me. Manager never called with any follow up information. I called again May 29 2024 at 1pm the manager told me he would speak with the district manager and call me back today. I waited til 630pm before the shop closed to call back as the manager never contacted me. He told me the district manager had more pressing and important matters to attend to and would be in again Friday. I am severely inconvenienced and impacted by the actions of pepboys employees and without a vehicle due to the extent on the damages to the vehicle. I would concern this a pressing matter as well seeing that I now do not have a vehicle and am limited. Had the technician(s) correctly done their job the vehicle would of been returned. Now I'm outside of the grace period to return to seller. Pepboys is responsible for the damages to the vehicle along with falsely passing for new state in its current state. I have made multiple attempts to have the issue resolved since May 23,2024. No one has contacted me and or provided information to rectify the issue. At this point I feel that pepboys should cover the cost of repair, refund me for the services I've paid for at pepboys since purchase of vehicle. An alternative offer is financial compensation for a pre-owner dealer vehicle. This experience had left me without a vehicle or means to get another In replacement. I am a single parent with a toddler and my finances are already limited and now being further crippled by the events that have occurred as a customer of pepboys. read more

I took my car to be serviced my car wasn't starting was told they would check the electrical system to see what it could be. I left the car being told they would contact me later that day I heard nothing the following day I thought they would tell me if they could begin to start working on the car I received a call about 4pm saying it was the starter I told them to start When I arrived my bill was $600 which I couldn't believe! After having the car for about a week the car began to have trouble starting it began to become regular problems starting a little over a week later my car was unable to start at a grocery store had to be towed home the would not start again I had to be towed to pep boys at 730 am 1/2 hour before opening told manager of the problem was told they would look at it that day I didn't hear anything I was told the following morning that it was the fuse panel and had to be taken to the dealer to be repaired if they checked the electrical system they would have known that and not did the work I was charged $600 for something I really did not think needed to be done!! Now how much in addition to this will I be charged by the dealer to repair This place is horrible highly unprofessional and I feel looking to take your money with no concern for the customer read more

I went to this store for the first time on June 5th to check my brake and do state inspection. They told me the front brake pads need to be replaced and the rear one are still new and nice. They then did it, with a price I think is reasonable. It then took them about 2 hours to finish the replacements and inspection. But after the service, I drove back home and heard a squeezing noise from the wheels. This happened just after their service. I cannot believe it. The worse thing happened the next day. I turned on FM/AM. No sound. Then I plug in my phone, using the USB port. No sound. My car became dumb, for the very first time. It was working perfectly before I went to Pep Boys. They damaged the sound system of my car. Of course, I will never go back to this store anymore. The price might be reasonable. But the work is poor and untrustworthy. And they can even do DAMAGE to cars. I DO NOT recommend this store to anyone who still love their cars! read more

I'm actually surprised to see bad reviews here. My fiancé and I took my SUV in for an oil change and inspection. We had an appointment, which was super helpful. No wait time to get in. As they were working they realized they didn't have the proper filter. So our 30 min wait turned into much longer. Now, normally I would be super upset. But, they went to a sister store to get the proper part. Not only did they go above and beyond to do this right. They gave us a huge discount! If I'm saving money I honestly can't complain about the hour and 20 min wait. So even though there's room for improvement here, they at least care about customer service, and I really respect that. My husband brought his 2005 Mitsubishi Outlander in to this location to get his front low beam light bulb changed. He was charged $81 and it took 45 minutes. Seriously? I can change the bulb myself in 5 min. I was just at work when he took it in. What kind of "mechanic" takes 45 min. to change a bulb? This is an example of bill padding and price gouging the customer. If I could give less than a 1 star rating I would. This is disgraceful. Stay away. Against my better judgement and despite the warnings of the good people who posted here, I took the car there. This was due to time constraints and unfamiliarity with the city; I would rather avoid the national chains. They said it failed the test due to some sort of bushing failure on three wheels. They also said it was a safety issue, they could not give an extension sticker, and that I had to take it to the dealer. I took the car to the dealer service station and the guy said these people generally don't know much about the specific car parts and they probably did not know what they were looking at. However, he did not have an appointment for the next three days, and being a dealer, he was going to charge "a little something" for the diagnostics. Given the time pressure, I called two local shops looking for a solution. One mechanic literally chuckled that I went to Pep Boys in the first place. The second one who was available, took the car in right away, determined that only one wheel had minor wear and tear. He did the sticker, no problem. Thanks to all those who posted here previously. I had my 2002 Chevy S10 towed to this location as suggested by my insurance company (since they were the one towing it for me) because the truck would not start. They replaced the distributor cap, rotor, and did a tune up, claiming that everything had been fixed. The next day I replace my oil. Under the hood I found a screwdriver and magnet pen resting on the distributor. As I start the truck up and look inside, a plume of smoke appears near the distributor and a loud clacking noise. I bring the truck back in a second time and they tell me now it is the distributor itself. I come in after the distributor has been replaced. Upon starting my truck, I notice the check engine light is on. This meant I had to leave the truck there a third time. All in all, my truck was being worked on for 6 days. Wed-Fri 1st time Sat-Mon 2nd time Mon-Tues 3rd time Now I know my vehicle is old and diagnosing problems can be difficult . I am not upset that I paid over $1000 for the work they did. What I am upset about is that they did not make sure my truck was working properly both times. You figure black smoke and a loud noise from the engine would indicate that everything is not okay. You would also think not to leave your tools inside a person's vehicle. You might assume that a person would see the check engine light on and think to further investigate the problem. I guess this is how they do business because they honestly did not see any of the issues I brought up as being anything to apologize for. There's a difference between doing Good work and doing fast work. They apparently choose the latter. I would rather have my vehicle be somewhere longer as opposed to have to dick around with going back and forth over a week time. Update: Pep Boys has apologized for me having to bring it back three times. Since then I have noticed a problem with the truck pulling to the right when driving. I did not have this problem when I brought the truck to PepBoys. read more

I purchased 4 tires from Pep Boys and they broke 2 studs and wanted to charge me an extra $100 to replace them. The studs cost $2.50 each. This is another example of how "big box" outfits screw you over and over and over. This should have been done at their expense, thereby, providing customer service for the future! I will write a better review if I am refunded my money. I have written to corporate listing all the other establishments in town who would have not charged a dime. read more

The mechanics are great bunch of guys and the service desk employees are great too always willing to get you in and make sure your vehicle is taken care of! I get my vehicle inspected here and general work completed here yearly! I've been pleased with the service from this location. Last night I was shopping next door to this Pep Boys and I came back to a flat tire. I should have known how to change my own tire but i had no idea, I didn't even know were to put the jack. I went over to the Pep Boys asking how much it would be to have someone help me out. Within 15 minutes Eric (one of the employees) had my tire changed and taught me how to do it myself for next time.
