I adore this place. Sunny Paris and Fox Point are my all-time faves and have become staples in my cooking. I have signed up for their newsletter so I can take advantage of deals specifically for these two. The store is kinda far away for me but when I do visit, I try to get different things to try out. I love their constant deals that usually make this possible. Mural of Flavors just didn't stand out as far as I can remember. Also the Herbes de Provence were good but I prefer to get unique spices here since I can't really tell the difference between the one I got here and the one I got from the grocery store. I seem to like Ruth Ann's but I can't tell you why. Wauwatosa Village mainly tastes like celery to me and I hate celery so I won't get that again. Yeah ..... it's PENZEY'S! From Wisconsin. For those who don't know, amazing collection of spices and blends of highest quality - and fresh. Just walk into the store, the scents waft their way over. Walk around and it's an olfactory experience. The day I went, there was a bad thunderstorm. Computer down, no credit cards could be used. I had just gotten rid of my cash - and had a huge basket full. They offered to keep the basket and ring it up later if I returned. Nice! Returned later, added all the interesting special offers (get on their email list), then done. Thought I had gone overboard at over $200. Somebody else had spent over $500 (gift bags; great idea!). Yes, it is that good. Email list! Fun special offers so you can try or gift spices you might not yet have experience with. Guilt-free sin spending. Are you on a salt-free diet? Tired of boring food? Penzey's to the rescue. Are maybe not the most creative person with spice combos? Penzey's. Do you not know the difference between several versions of cinnamon? Or vanilla? Do you look at certain spices and wonder - what's that good for? Are you thinking you'd like to make your cooking more creative or interesting (or fun)? Etc etc. Penzey's for anything spices. If you are a gourmand with a discerning palate, you already know what to do at Penzey's. But for the rest of us, there are the Penzey's staff. Nothing special about these spices, other than overpriced. Customer service is little to be desired. Whole Sale Foods is much better.

Worst place in memphis. Stay away. Might as well buy at Walmart and mix together for a much cheaper and equivalent product

I stopped to check this store thanks to Yelper Kristina M letting me know about their insane opening week deal - basically you spent $10 and got $26 worth of free stuff (a $6.99 value Arizona Spice Rib and then a gift pack with 4 spices + magnet + dish towel worth $20!!). I seriously felt like I was robbing that store y'all! So since I got the spices, I have used the Hungarian paprika (in the free gift pack) + the lemon peel and the roasted garlic spices which I purchased. The spices were truly fantastic - the bright red of the paprika added an amazing colour and depth of flavour to my cauliflower and the roasted garlic totally elevated my salmon. The Zatar too was great on the labneh - so i'm very pleased with my purchases. Plus any store that has all 5 different varities of cinnamon (from Ceylon, Vietnam, Bali and cant recall the other two) has some serious spice street creed! There was some stuff that I was looking for which wasn't in stock (dried pomegranate seeds, dried mango powder and tamarind) but that's minor. Oh Happy Day! Penzeys Spices has reopened and their new location on 418 Perkins Extd. is very cute. If you like cooking/baking, this is your place to go and buy some of the best spices around. I particularly like their taco and garlic seasoning. However, they have such a wide variety to choose from. The new location was set up nicely and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. I'm not sure when I originally discovered Penzeys but I remember the day I discovered Bill, the owner of Penzeys. Shortly after the 2016 elections, Bill sent out the longest, unapologetic newsletter ever sent in the history of spice dealers. He vowed that no relatives who voted for Trump should comfortably eat Thanksgiving dinner until they explained siding with someone so divisive. Two years later, those lengthy newsletters haven't ceased. Bill's drawn a line in the sand to say its more important for him to call out racism, bigotry, Islamophobia, Antisemitism & outright hatred than to simply sell spices. He's chosen justice over profit and I'm here for it! Each week, he sends out his newsletter with thought-provoking commentary on current events & tosses in a promotional item for good measure. He's practically given away his store for this crusade which is why I keep coming, spending no less than $25 per visit. If you've made it this far, you probably want to know what's good here. I can't live without Fox Point, Northwoods, Spanish Smoked Paprika, Roasted Garlic and Shallot Pepper in the pantry. Once you've been here, you'll never buy anywhere else.
