Wow! I've heard about Penzeys by foodies posting...they have their seasonings shipped...my hairdresser mentioned they are in downtown Littleton, near my new home. Wow! What luck. Really nice & helpful staff. Amazing spices. Great prices. The friend I was with, a straight guy, kept buying seasonings, then going back for more. It was funny. I'll be going back. Just wow! (I saw negative reviews...cannot relate. Great staff. Very helpful & welcoming. One person complained regarding her children. Sadly, many parents ignore their little ones as they shop. Take your business a block away to Savory Spice where they're incredibly nice and helpful with similar, if not cheaper, pricing. I love shopping here. It's one of my go-tos when I need a gift for the cook or baker friends and family. Just like today, when I needed one more gift for Christmas. The staff is friendly and when they asked for what I was looking, steered me to a great baking gifts section. I knew what I wanted for the gift, but spent some time looking around for me. My purchase included some extra special gifts-with-purchase, so it really made this trip to Penzeys Spices worth the walk! read more

I found a Penzey's store on a recent trip to Minneapolis and was very impressed. They stock a large variety, including many salt-free options. When I got home and tried the spice blends, they were all delicious. I bought a gift card so that I can mail order more. I also appreciate the fact that Penzey's does not shy away from politics. I support Mom's Demand Action for gun responsibility, and bought a bag of Orange spice that supports common sense gun laws. I will continue to support Penzey's, mostly because their spices are fantastic! read more

This business flat out practices medical discrimination and they do not gaf. If you're disabled like me, and cannot physically wear a mask per doctors orders , this isn't the business to support. Their employees are old women on a power trips that claim you need to wear a mask "to protect the immunocompromised", and then when you kindly explain that YOU ARE the immunocompromised they are trying to "protect" and you cannot wear a mask because you're medically exempt per orders of your doctor, they gaslight you, ignore your medical needs and tell you that you aren't welcome. I like the shop a lot, but find myself going to the other spice shop in Littleton more often because the employees at Penzy's are not as helpful. They aren't as eager to help and you need to find them and bug them to get any assistance. This location also has fewer spice mixes than the other store. This location in Downtown Littleton also has a parking problem (like all of the other stores and restaurants in Downtown). It can be a challenge to find somewhere to park. This location has good coupons if you sign up for their emails, however the CEO has gone a bit overboard with the political rants (even though I agree with most of what the CEO says, I still wish he'd talk more about his products and less about politics). read more

Terrible service from the store worker here. She brags of being the trainer for all company staff (for the last 12 years) while actively convincing customers to leave. I came in to see if they have something I haven't been able to find elsewhere for years.... Since I last got it at Penzeys. Instead of helping me find something comparable she told me all the ways I must be wrong. How about learning customer service. And you let this lady train people?!?! I came in raving about this shop and left knowing I'll never ever shop at this company again. Neither will my large family of bakers that were just as disgusted by the actions of the staff. They have an incredible selection. And they have the coolest design for napkins and cups ever! This little store deserves 5 Stars every day!!! Love this place. And they have the nicest employees. I just ordered almost $100 in spices to replenish a very outdated spice store cabinet. I read my first email today and was shocked. Your view on politics needs to stay with YOUR friends and family. I will be returning all of my spices to the store and go to savory spice which has been my go to for years. So much for trying something new. Spices are ok, can be pricey for some. But what turned me away was the corporate owner using his email list to ostracize his customer base with his political rants. My wife was in there a few months ago and found some great spices for taco and fajitas. I later read in the paper his comments about Republicans wanting to buy guns to shoot people of color. Walked in, looked around, and the bored-looking staff (3 of them) didn't even acknowledge me. It just feels like a soulless chain store without any local connection. Walked a few doors down to Savory Spice shop and was warmly greeted and helped. Also tried spices there, and bought some. Savory Spice shop is a local success story that has always had helpful and friendly customer service, unlike Penzey's. See no reason to return to Penzey's, plus their prices seemed higher. It's also a really good idea for CEOs and other personnel to refrain from making political comments. read more

I was so excited to discover this Penny's store! I didn't know I had one near me. My great aunt in St. Louis introduced me to the BEST SMOKED PAPRIKA I HAVE EVER HAD. I was so sad when I ran out, I was walking in the area and came across this Penzey's store and gasped, I was so excited! I'm going back this weekend to buy more! The prices are incredible and the quality and flavors cannot be beat. I'm telling you, get some smoked paprika!!! It's amazing! The staff was so Friedman's sweet and one woman was so helpful and got me on the mailing list for coupons. I'm super excited. I know that I am supposed to like Savory Spice Shop more than the national chain store, but I'm sorry, I don't. Penzey's is far less overwhelming to me and I feel less stressed while sniffing, perusing, and purchasing. I also love that almost every time I go in there, I get something for free. The coupons that are sent in the mail are serious- no 10% off nonsense, or other menial discounts. My spice rack is filling up quite nicely because of the free jars of spices that I've gotten there. There blends, like Arizona Dreaming, dress up any meal or side dish in an instant. If I'm feeling in a rut, I just add a little dash of one of their blends, and my meal becomes a masterpiece. read more

I know it's a chain, but I love Penzeys Spices, and particularly this store. They have a lot of products that I really like-- a wide variety of cinnamon options, an incredible double-strength vanilla, and a really wonderful Aleppo pepper chili powder-- it's been our go-to for chicken this summer. I received a small shaker of something called Pasta Sprinkles as a gift last year, or I think I got it as a gift because I didn't buy it and it ended up in cabinet. Also, I can't say that I ever used it on pasta, mostly because I loved the way it seasoned pita chips and I don't eat much pasta these days. When the shaker ran out I figrued I'd better see where it came from and how I could get some more. I'd heard of Penzeys but didn't know there was a location in downtown Littleton, it was great to go to a store and not just order online. Although I probably ended up buying a couple extra things because they were right in front of me! Great little store, tons of different combinations of spices with ideas on how best to use them. I love this place! They have an enormous variety of spices and herbs, not to mention plenty of pantry goods - mortar/pestle, spice rack, bottles, etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but not pushy at all. I wasn't aware that this was a chain store until recently, they really make it feel cozy - like a mom and pop's shop. I went in for some peppercorns and to look around and left with a bag full of spices and seasonings I've been experimenting with ever since. First, I think it's incredibly unfair that downtown Littleton has two outstanding spice shops, whereas downtown Fort Collins (where I live) has none. After Savory Spice Shop made a dent in the wallet, we walked by this place is we're headed back to the car. It also looked extremely inviting, so we stopped in. Had I not just left Savory Spice Shop, I would've said this is about the best spice and herb store I have been in. There is an outstanding selection of peppercorns, and also, a great selection of salad seasonings. Actually, if you're really in a spice hunting mood, I recommend hitting both of the stores, as they seem to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses. The staff was especially friendly. I never really thought about looking for a spice shop before, but when I was doing some Christmas shopping a few weeks ago I found both Penzeys Spices and Savory Spice Shop on Main Street in Littleton. Now I'll never buy grocery store spices again! Be prepared for a bit of sensory overload - this place has almost everything you can imagine. It's a really pretty shop too, and very well organized. They have large jars of samples of most spices and mixtures for you to smell, and you can buy large or small bottles too - great for the indecisive person who can't commit to a large bottle. Plus, they have recipes that use some of their spices or mixtures all over the place, just in case something sounds interesting but you're not quite sure how to use it.
