What resulted was an accumulation of work that needed to be done on my teeth. Dr Kim and her Staff created a plan in March 2023 and had completed all work in May 2023. The work done was awesomely exemplary. Everyone was involved from the Front Admin Desk to the Hygienists to Dr Kim. What an exceptionally nice group of folks. They executed their duties in a professional manner and made me feel comfortable at each visit throughout the long process. What resulted was that I received my smile back! I went to the Wainright & Wassel dental office on May 8, 2024 in hopes of having tooth 31…read morerecemented and tooth 5 evaluated for a crown. Three years ago Dr. Mark Wainright had recemented tooth 31 and in 2019 remade a crown for tooth 4.  Since I had had problems with both these teeth, I asked if I could have a price break for the upcoming work. I had done a Google search on crowns and was told they should last 3-5 years.  The crown on tooth 4 was a total waste of my money since it did not close the gap between my 3 & 4 teeth as I was told it would do.  Therefore I believed I had a legitimate cause to ask for a price break. I was seeing Dr. Matthew Wassel since Dr. Wainright had a long wait schedule. Instead of being willing to do my work, I was told that not only could they not recement tooth 31, but that I would also need a whole new crown due to some problem that did not make any sense to me.  The crown on 31 did not have a problem before and it was recemented.  I thought this was absurd and told them so.   For tooth 5, I was told I needed to have an X-ray.  When I said they had just done X-rays five months ago, I was then told they would need  pictures.  I disagreed with both and PLAINLY stated I was not paying for either.  I was then told they would need pictures and I agreed with the stipulation that it would be FREE!  I saw no need for pictures for the evaluation.  I had a mirror if I wanted to see the tooth and pictures were of no use to the dental office for evaluation purposes. I was then told they could place tooth 31, but with only temporary cement.  I told them this idea was insane.   Why would I want the tooth cemented on temporarily to then have to go to another dentist office and have them remove the crown to do it permanently? I left the office and went to see Dr. Christopher Powell later the same day, May 8, 2024 and he recemented the tooth permanently with no questions. There is probably the question as to why I did not complain about the crown on tooth 4 back when it happened?  Tooth 4 is a dental implant.  Doing more work on it could create even more problems.  I was trying to bend over backwards to be a "Nice Guy" in hopes I could stay in good relations with the dentist. My complaints to the dental board are: 1. Dr. Wainright told me he could close the gap between teeth 3 & 4 with a new crown and it did not. 2. Dr. Wassel refused to hear me, billing me for photos that were totally useless. 3. Dr. Wassel refused to hear my issues and instead tried to cover it up by stating that tooth 31 had a problem and needed to be remade. 4.  Dr. Wassel refused to hear my issues, refused to consider my complaints and instead penalized me with two behavior management charges.

However lately, the bigger priority seems to be on growing the business and selling extra services. For new patients, some of Connection Dentistry's technology or time-saving gadgets might seem impressive on the surface. But their actual necessity, effectiveness, and safety is unclear. This might bring in extra cash for the practice and create a faster patient turnaround, but at what cost? Quantity of patients over quality of service, maybe? On top of this, in our opinion, Dr. Rensch's demeanor/professionalism has been increasingly concerning. We asked Dr. Rensch about some of our family's recent procedures, as it seemed there were some new problems and side-effects directly connected to his approach. Dr. Rensch's response was to avoid responsibility and point the finger back at the patient, seeming to disregard facts and "re-framing" a patient's history. I noted that during this interaction, Dr. Rensch's overall demeanor seemed very impatient and emotional. In addition, over time there were several instances when Dr. Rensch would say a procedure was covered by insurance- but this was not always true. In those moments, we felt pressure to have that extra service done on the spot. We learned the hard way to have all estimates emailed ahead of time before getting anything additional done. And inevitably we'd email back and forth- noticing prices shifting or finding errors. Once their office took so long to file a bill- we could no longer claim it on insurance. This meant that whenever we'd go to Connection Dentistry, we'd spend our own time, patience, and an eagle eye- to try to catch any billing errors. There are a LOT of dentists out there. Do your research, protect yourself, and trust your gut.

I was greeted by name and Alisha (the receptionist) even asked about my mother which I thought was very sweet. My hygienist Elizabeth was fantastic! I would let her clean my teeth everyday!
