Caring technicians and front-desk staff, but unfortunately our experience - spanning several years - was spoiled by an absolute inability to process a simple refund for services not rendered. Given the thousands of dollars we spent with Pennington Vet, repeated phone calls and unfulfilled promises to resolve a *basic* business transaction have left us terribly disappointed and somewhat hurt. We adopted a large pit Bull mix and have taken him here for the last several years. He actually likes going to the vet. He is a struggle to handle and gets mouthy but the tech we use does a great job with him. We can't clip his nails at home or touch his ears but the vet takes care of all our problems. We took our vibrant, 5-year old Maine Coon mix to the Pennington Veterinary Clinic in Hopewell Township, NJ bc his seasonal allergies were a bit bothersome this year (he is an indoor cat only and each fall he gets itchy for ~2 months). If I could give this place negative stars I would. Let's start with how your not allowed in the building, a tech comes to the car and takes your animal then the Dr. Calls you to discuss your animals issues. Basically, my dog was missed diagnosed, given the wrong medicine and promised a "special serum" was going to be made for him because of his skin issues. $944.00 later his condition worsened and I never received any "special serum". After many attempts to contact them. I was either rushed off the phone or told I would receive a call back. I finally had my husband call and the receptionist told him he was rude and hung up on him. Trust me, he was not rude. They are horrible. Please do not bring your beloved animal to this place it's awful. read more

Awful experiences. I'd think twice before going here. We took our new adopted dog to this vet for the first time. They were not seeing dogs inside the office so they picked our dog up at our car upon arrival. After the visit the doctor calls with a report. The doctor called my dog the wrong name several times when verbally telling me her report. We needed to go back several times because of the series of shots she was prescribed. Each time back she was called different names. The doctor was very quick and insincere. I know vets are very expensive but this one seem to take it to a new level. Looked at her ears on the three trips back and charged $25 for that alone! I tried to get a prescription written to fulfill the medicines through my online pharmacy and was told it would be $5 per script! I called to challenge the cost and was basically told to take my business elsewhere. read more

They claimed to not carry heart guard for dogs, so we ordered it online. It requires a prescription. Go back for a prescription and they charge $5 for the piece of paper. Even though we're only going through this process because they don't carry the most common monthly medicine for dogs. Lost a lot of business over that 5$ considering we have 8 pets. Sorry I just think that's ridiculous. Help the people of your town out greedy SOBs. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I would never recommend anyone who cares for their pet visit this establishment. We have been patients here for 9 years with our golden retriever and been consistently over charged with absolutely minuscule and quite frankly reckless care. After raising concerns to the vet during the summer of 2022 of severe weight loss and personality change in our dog, and paying an astronomical amount for blood work - we were told our dog was "perfectly healthy" and actually needed to lose weight. Months after being told our concerns were not necessary (we know out dog but trust those who are allegedly professionals) Yesterday our dog showed no interest in eating, drinking, going to the bathroom or moving more than a few inches. Calling the vet we have been patients of for NINE YEARS looking for help, we were turned away stating there were no appointments (even for an emergency) and told to call the next day when there were opening. Upon calling like directed the next day, the vet tech answering the phone spewed out information for someone else's dog and when corrected, again confirmed nothing was wrong with blood work they have on file and presented two options "putting the dog to sleep or making them comfortable". The audacity and lack of compassion and care to suggest as a first option, putting to sleep a completely "healthy " dog by their own records is disturbing. When asked to speak to the owner or management we were told they are on vacation and it wasn't possible. No care or consideration. Absolutely do not Visit if you care about your pets safety. read more

I went to this place with my 2 dogs in May 2021 for a regular check up on my dogs, I couldn't go in they came out and took the dogs upon their return I was charged for a stool test among other things which was paid in cash and was told I should come back with the stool sample, I've been trying since then to get my refund of a $100, but to no avai, been called atleas 4 times a week and been told only the manlager can give a refund but each time I'm told the manager is not in the office and they (Nancy) will have her call me back it's now 5 months and I'm yet to receive a refund, I was even promised that they would mail a check out to me a month ago , which I'm yet to receive, they are playing a cat and mouse game instead of just giving me my refund, now today, they are telling me to bring my dogs back in, but at this point I loose trust in them and I wouldn't feel safe taking them there read more

Its a scary thing when your pet is sick. You're used to them running around active and playful then suddenly she"s lethargic and not active. The staff here is so loving and caring that's why we love it here. And as strange as it may be, our pets are comfortable here, not afraid at all. read more

I have used the Pennington Veterinary Care Center for a number of years. I went on the recommendation of a colleague, after being dissatisfied by the vet I was using. I have never had a bad experience. The doctors are excellent and their techs could not be better. I also board my dog there and she is always greeted excitedly and wags her tail as she goes back to their kennel. read more

I can't do less than one star. My two puppies got spayed there for $1900 after being told it would be $1200. They proceeded to extract four of my four pound maltipoo's teeth without consulting me! After the fact they proceeded to charge me another $184. When I disputed the charge they told me they would not give my dog her pain meds if I didn't pay!!!! Unconscionable and unethical! Her license should be revoked. Perhaps this hold out of pain meds is only reserved for brown people owning puppies. Beware!!! read more

After 15 years of bringing our Reese (dog) here, we have always trusted them here with his medical care. Recently, Reese suffered a massive seizure, went blind, partially deaf, his whole left side lame....our hearts broken, unfortunately, it was time for him to go on ahead or suffer. We cannot thank Pennington Veterinary Clinic for their thoughtful handling and support of Reese and us from beginning to end, nearly crying with us. They were very, very, very compassionate and guided us with love as if he were their own...which they were in fact having been caring for him from near birth to death. I'm concerned that the experience shared in the 1-star review by Heather L M is out of the ordinary, so I'm giving the Pennington Veterinary Clinic 5 stars in hopes that it balances their overall rating. I'd hate to see one negative experience skew perceptions of this business. I am very sorry for her dog, however. I might not have given them a 5 otherwise -- maybe a 4 or a 4.5 because we've had to wait, and the office is a little dingy. But we've been bringing our cat to the Pennington Veterinary Clinic for more than a year and the staff has always been professional, friendly, and helpful. The staff obviously care about all of the animals that come through that office. They may have trouble handling the volume some times, which might in fact have contributed to the situation described in the other review, but to me it seems they are busy because they are good. Every time I'm there the phones are ringing off the hook. read more

Thanks to Pennington Veterinary for helping save Rupert's life. I volunteer with Focus On Homeless Animals, a Washington Crossing based animal rescue. FOHA pulls dogs and cats from high kill shelters, then rehabilitates, fosters and re-homes them. Rupert needed eye surgery and medical boarding. Pennington Veterinary Clinic boarded and cared for Rupert post surgery at a generous rate. Rupert is in a foster home now, which PVC found for us, but they continue to care for him at weekly treatment visits. They bathe him weekly to help him stay healthy and clean and increase his adoptability. The staff is always professional and kind. True animal lovers! read more

Absolutely awful. I wouldn't recommend anyone taking their pet here. I paid for bloodwork only to find out that the blood was thrown away. I was told shots were given then found out they actually weren't. I don't understand how this place is still in business. No apology ever only a rude, condescending vet. We have been taking our three dogs to Pennington Veterinary Clinic for approximately three years. The entire staff has always done a good job of providing them with quality veterinary care. Our oldest dog, our beloved Pepper, was diagnosed with lymphoma a few weeks ago. Since that time, everyone at Pennington Veterinary Clinic has done all they could do to help us whenever we asked. Pepper's cancer was very fast moving. We spent all of our time with her over the last few weeks. She became weaker daily. We spent this past weekend saying goodbye to her. We had to euthanize Pepper today because we didn't want her to suffer any longer. When I called Pennington Veterinary Clinic this morning they scheduled us immediately. We brought Pepper in for her last visit and I honestly can't imagine how it could have been handled any better. The doctor and staff were all very caring and compassionate. They explained the entire procedure and took their time with us until we were all comfortable with going ahead, and they gave us all the time we needed afterward. We drove Pepper home for the last time just a few hours ago. Pennington Veterinary Clinic gets five stars from me. We will continue to use them for our other two dogs. read more

After a 5 minute $60 wellness exam, the doctor that saw my cat was not sympathetic with my current living situation. Instead she said she couldn't give me any recommendations on how to keep my cat healthy because he's living with other animals temporarily (as if that's a bad thing). I've been bring my family of cockers here for years and have never been dissatisfied. The staff have always been very professional and courteous. My last visit was for my 11 yr old, 4 yr old and the puppy. All in same room and the staff handled with ease and care. I even received a follow up call to check on my 11 yr old because he had surgery. read more

Pennington vet is the worst place I could of ever take my dog, not only were they over priced but rude and did not care about the customer. I went to them because my little guy 2 year old peanut butter was pretty sick so i left him in the room to use the restroom when I returned peanut butter was gone, so I thought they took him in the back for blood so I didn't panic until dr Rickard came back in the room and told us they euthanized him when I told them I didn't give permission to do that the tech said well that sucks go get another one. Tech name was cori. Not to mention they charged me for the Euth as well. Who does that? Who puts a 2 year old puppy golden down? I am a fairly new customer, but I have been to this clinic several times since I recently adopted a kitten that needed to be spayed (and I have two older cats). Both the medical and customer service at Pennington Vet is EXCELLENT! My only complaint is that the prices for surgery are a bit high, but I suppose it is for the extra tests and monitoring to keep my pet alive! I would recommend them for someone looking for a good vet. I'm sure there are cheaper places out their, but not sure how trustworthy they would be. I've heard that a lot of local clinics treat cats as sub-pets since they are used to treating larger/farm animals. read more

I was searching for an inexpensive Veterinarian when I came across this one. They charged me much less than other Veterinarians would charge and the whole staff was great. I took my cat there for her check up and they saw that her teeth needed work done. Not only did they allow me to make payment plans, but they were very helpful when it came to her needs. I've been taking my cats here for the last 9 years. Last year, one of my cats' health really deteriorated and she needed to be euthanized. Most of the staff knew me and my cat very well, yet I had the nagging feeling that I was being judged for my decision to put my cat down. She had been to the Vet two days prior with all kinds of issues and when I realized she wasn't going to get better, I called to make the appointment. I was put on hold while the person on the desk checked out my "story". The doctor and staff was nice enough that day, but truthfully, after coming to them for so many years, I would have appreciated a little more compassion. There was no follow up afterwards - I was devastated - anyone who has a pet knows what it's like when you have to reach this decision. I had to bring another one of my cats in two days later, and NO ONE mentioned the fact that my cat had just been put down and NO ONE asked how I was. I received a note from the place online I was ordering food for my sick cat and they didn't know me at all. I have since left and gone to another Vet - I would not recommend going here. In addition to their lack of empathy, their offices are run down and very unprofessional looking. Stay away - stay far away. read more
