He's a big guy with various issues since we adopted him from a kill shelter about 7-years ago. I had been going to Belle Mead Animal Hospital, and they are very good, but I was looking for a more local vet that had the time to spend working on his issues. Some of those issues included a luxated patella, digestive sensitivity, paw infections and the like. I found Caring Heart through the Next Door app, and the reviews were very good, so I figured I would give it a shot. Since the very first appointment back in 2024, I found Dr. Chris & his staff to be an excellent choice. He was compassionate, he listened and provided a thoughtful & dedicated approach to my GP's care. His prices were fair (and less than my previous vet) and more important, his approach always focused on care and not "spending money for the sake of..." Well, recently, Dr. Chris sold the practice, and my concern was that I had to begin the search process all over again. Well, that wasn't the case at all. Dr. Silit, acquired the practice, and although he was highly recommended by Dr. Chris prior to his departure, you never know what to expect until that first visit. Well, I'm delighted to report that Dr. Silit is outstanding. He takes the time to understand the issues, listens very well and more important, he provides timely and effective care at every turn. I should also say that as a Surgeon, you would think he would promote "surgery" at every turn, even if there are less evasive options. I'm happy to report that nothing could be further from the truth. I've always gotten an appointment quickly, and his pricing and recommendations always make sense. Additionally, I found his staff, Brandon & Jessica, truly round out the experience when it comes to making you feel welcome. They are there with you in case of any emergency needs. My feeling is that no business would likely receive 5-stars across the board. Someone will always be disappointed or find reasons not to recommend. In this case, I assure you that your experience with Dr. Silit and his team, based on my ongoing relationship with them, will stand the test of time. Whether you need meds, general wellness care or emergency counsel, Dr. Silit and his team are there. Finally, you should know that I'm not one to rate businesses unless I'm deeply disappointed or highly impressed. Caring Heart in Skillman deserves a visit, if you're like me & you're highly selective about your pet's care and need for a responsive, friendly and knowledgeable staff that simply "gets it". This is one small town vet with big positive outcomes that's worth your time and business.

During another visit, my Chihuahua took medication for three days that didn't match his symptoms. I had to research it myself. When I called to ask why it was prescribed, I was told to stop giving it if it wasn't working and bring him back for another paid visit. Why should I pay twice when my concerns weren't properly addressed the first time? Most recently, I brought in my Mastiff for an ear infection. A different vet prescribed ear drops that didn't resolve the infection, and now his ear is producing pus. I'm having to seek treatment elsewhere, and even getting his medical records has been frustrating. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism, communication, and quality of care. I trusted this office with my dogs' health, and I will never bring them back. I would not recommend this veterinary office.

I called back and spoke to a different person to collect information to take to another vet. I explained why I needed the information and was told to come over immediately. As a long time patient at Woodbourne I knew this was not the way they handle their clients. I'm very grateful to be able to continue my care here and hope that this issue is resolved and will no longer be a problem for other families looking for care for their pets.

Now this is a corporate office that couldn't care a damn. My 3 month old puppy took ill yesterday after taking medication they prescribed and I thought she was dying. I called and begged to have her seen and was told to take a hike. She couldn't be seen for days because they didn't have an appointment open. If they are the vet taking care of my pup and they are the ones responsible for her health, under their care they should shuffle things to get 16 minutes somewhere to help in an emergency !!!

Since changing to Sycamore Vet my experience was fantastic. Dr. Weiss was excellent in caring for my little girl. Most recently, I received a card in the mail signed by every one at Sycamore vet sending their condolences. It was unexpected and absolutely appreciated. I just remember when Melody was being to show signs of arthritis. Dr. Weiss prescribed a couple meds which almost immediately resolved the symptoms. Can't say enough abt my positive experience with Sycamore other than to say I wish I'd taken her there sooner. Excellent group of people at Sycamore. If I ever decided to get another dog I would most definitely bring her here. Thanks!

They have no regular appointments for two weeks. So you can't even schedule in for the poor sick pet. I had to go to an emergency animal hospital, Also they won't schedule multiple pet appointments for regular check up. I was told because if you cancel it ruins there schedule! I had been going for years. Dr Neubaurer was the greatest! He saw all my pets together. Now there is no customer service and they could care less about your pet!!!! I had to schedule with BetterVet to have my pets get their yearly check up and vaccinations. After 7 years of loyalty! Find a place that actually cares about animals and your business!!!

I honestly don't know what the previous two raters are talking about. I've never done an online…read morereview before, but their negative comments about the staff have motivated me to reply here. I have never found the staff at MAH to be ANYTHING less than caring, compassionate, friendly, devoted, helpful, and knowledgeable. They make every effort to fit me in for appointments, and one time when I was in a panic I just drove over without an appointment and they helped me anyway -- with nothing but friendliness. When I've had pets that had to stay overnight, I always got a full report about their behavior and how well they played with or responded to staff, and as it is always in line with what I know of my pets' personalities, I know they actually have interacted with my pets. The doctor is very caring and gentle with my pets, and truly seems to enjoy working with them. When a problem is beyond the scope of his office, he knows who the area experts are and points me in the right direction. When I have had to euthanize a pet, the whole staff has been wonderful throughout the process, as opposed to doctors at other local practices (one doctor at VMA) who have actually said and done things to make me feel bad about my decision. I have been going to Makefield Animal Hospital for over 15 years and, having tried at least three other local practices, I have found them to be the best and I will be staying with them. I can not imagine how the first two commenters came to their conclusions unless they have confused the names of local businesses or perhaps they are related to local businesses and are trying to tear down the competition. It's like writing a review for Pepsi and saying that they make horrible cheeseburgers...it just doesn't make any sense. Makefield Animal Hospital is the best.

Dr. Lelkes is the most knowledgeable, compassionate and caring vet I ever had. I went to him for…read moremany, many years and so greatful I had him and never once thought of going anywhere else. He took care of all my babies and never charged ridiculous prices. I miss having him as my vet. I wish I still had him but I do understand you have to retire at some point. I still have my cats and now have an adopted dog and I'm not sure who to go to that loves animals as much as he did and who will not charge hundreds and thousands of dollars. I'm sorry some new patients could not get appointments and I understand but he was only 1 person and a small clinic so he had to cut new patients off at some point. Rating the clinic a 1 was not the thing to do because it's not anyone fault. Miss you Dr. Lelkes!!
