We have been going to Newtown Vet for 17 years with our various pets through the years…read more Recently our dog Charley started having seizures, one of which was pretty scary and needless to say we were very concerned. Dr Graham, our favorite vet , once again explained everything thoroughly and took about an hour of his day going over possible causes options for treatment. Charley was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and we are so relieved that's all it is. Dr Graham is the best and we truly love and trust him with our pets.

So much. So very much can be improved. We walked in with…read moreour cat and left feeling robbed and without our cat. When we arrived they took him in the back without us. Didn't like that. 1/2 later the doctor spoke to us about his condition. I don't feel like he explained everything to us well. That there are meds the cat could have taken. He had no personality and didn't have an optimistic demeanor. Everything was presented like it wasn't worth the trouble. We asked questions but he didn't offer positive solutions. He made it sound like if you do this you will need to keep the cat here for three days, see a cardiologist, then he'd be on three meds a day. The groups I belong to are wondering "why we didn't fight harder" and my only answer is the vet gave up on us and on the cat. There was no: "here's what we can do, let's try this!" The demeanor was he's doomed, don't waste your time. We did the best we could to feel confidence in him, but we don't think he was the right person to handle our cat. Maybe someone that was more proactive, motivated and didn't leave such a feeling of doubt in us as we walked away empty handed would have been a better experience. Also compounding this with a $1,200 invoice as we walked away without our beloved baby. All of it a terrible experience. The only saving grace was the young lady who handled the paperwork. I wonder what other pet owners think of that doctor.

Sadly after 8 years of excellent care from this group and the many positive reviews i have given, I…read morecan no longer recommend them. Dr. Serini, on two separate visits, one for new onset seizures in my pup, the other for a cat who needed a pre op visits barely examined the animals by laying a stethoscope to their chest for a split second. Not at all what I was used to from VCA Doctors. The pup was at the visit because of the seizures and for labs that I had been told he wanted, he blew off the labs and told me just to get a video of the next seizure. He didn't chart on the seizures and the visit was listed as being for skin issues, he didn't even check his skin. I said nothing that visit. Same thing at the pre-op visit for the cat, barely an exam and he didn't want to do the labs! He wanted me to come back and have the labs drawn under sedation. I had to argue with him insisting that is what this visit was for. They did drew the labs. I left the exam room and told the people at the desk I don't like that doctor. My comment at the desk was later used against me by Tina who told me I have been a problem before. She lit my fuse, after eight years of singing their praises she said that. She later denied saying that, then she tried gaslighting me by making it my fault she said that. She said Dr Serini did nothing wrong, he is a great Doctor and I am the only one who has ever complained. His care does not meet what I have experienced for 8 years with VCA, it's very sad this has happened. My complaints after 8 years should have been handled more professionally. The final nail in the coffin is we are almost 30 hours past my cat having surgery with complications and no phone call from them to check on her. You can go anywhere for the level of service they are now providing and pay a lot less money,

I was…read morewarned not to use this kennel by another kennel/vet who they have a family connection with. My dog was returned to me wit two puncture wounds in her rear thigh. She was still bleeding and the owner of the kennel said nothing to me but acknowledged it when I called. This business appears to wipe or clean up Google reviews too (check Yelp for accurate reviews). She tried blaming the wounds on my other dog a Collie. They have roomed together at three other Kennels and live together now for over 7 years. This has never happened before! I will get to the bottom of this and expose any unsafe practices. I also thought it was odd that they requested cash only. UPDATE: Owners called me today yelling at me telling me saying that I was a bad pet owner and told me that I hurt my dog since I did not bring my dog back to them after picking her up. They refuse to take responsibility for this injury. My daughter and I witnessed the injury on their property in our SUV. They are trying to blame the injury on us saying that it happened after our dog left. They tried offering me a refund and to pay for the veterinarian bill but I want nothing to do with these people. The fact is that they knew about the injury and said nothing to us. I will file a complaint with the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement under the PA Department of Agriculture.

It's taken me 3 months to write this review. If it can lessen the heartache for even one person,…read moreit'll be worth it. After struggling for a while we knew it was time to send our cat over the Rainbow Bridge, from our home. She had facial cancer and was having difficulty eating consistently. We had gotten recommendations to call Moontide. Our cat was an indoor only cat who got stressed when put in a carrier so home was best. We had an appointment for 11am and the morning was planned out to enable us to prepare, spend some quiet time with our girl, and then closer to 11am we'd quietly pick her up and take her into the bathroom, a smaller area recommended by the vet so she couldn't hide. (She was not a pickup cat and any time she sensed being picked up she'd run and hide- under a bed, in the basement, under a couch. We communicated this to the vet beforehand.) We understood the assignment from the vet. Unfortunately that was not clear to her. At 10:30 am while my husband was still on a work call and I was getting dressed, the doorbell rang. Twice. At this point, our girl ran and hid in a panic. She was previously a rescue and while we had her in our home for 8 years she was still skitzy with noises, strangers, and things like the doorbells. I texted the vet and asked if she was at the door. She was. She said she was "early". In hindsight I should have asked her to come back at 11am as scheduled. That was a mistake on my part that I will never forgive myself for. I yelled to my husband that the vet was here, early. I let her into my kitchen. She made no apologies for being early nor did she show any compassion about it. I explained to her that we needed time now to try to grab our girl with a blanket, as she was running up the stairs and then down into the basement trying to hide. My husband got her and brought her into the bathroom and closed the door. At this point I was in tears. We had no quiet time beforehand. Getting her into the bathroom was stressful. It didn't need to be. The vet gave her a shot to calm her and while she tried to walk around the small bathroom in a panic she fell and stumbled from the calming meds. It was painful to watch. All I remember is seeing the panicked scared cornered look in her eyes. While this was happening, again, not an ounce of compassion. No "I know how hard this is." No "I'm sorry I was early, I can come back at our scheduled time." No "Rey will be at peace." After the meds took hold and she could not walk, we bundled her up, brought her to another room, sat with her while the euthanasia meds were put into her vein. Once that was done it was a matter of minutes. I will never forget the look of fear in her eyes in that bathroom. I will never forget how we had to grab her and throw a blanket over her to get her to the bathroom because she was panicked and we were caught off guard at the vet being 30 minutes early. If I could go back and repeat that day, I would have not only told the vet to come back at the scheduled time, but I would have chosen someone else. To add insult to injury, we had a scheduled day to have the ashes dropped off to our house. I saw a car leaving my driveway and a box was left at our door. It was a few days earlier than our scheduled date so I was not so surprised when I opened the box and saw that someone else's pet's remains were left at our door. I texted her, She came back to pick them up and dropped off ours off a few days later on our doorstep. It was the most impersonal, non-empathetic, non-compassionate experience I've had with having to send a pet over the rainbow bridge. The first two were at a vet's office and while I did not want to do that, it was at least a peaceful non-stressful experience. If you've read this far, thank you. I hope you are never in this position.

I really could not have sent my lil lady Olive out any way better. I cannot recommend this anymore. It really is worth it. Olive didn't feel a thing at all and we held her. It was beautiful. I am going to keep this review simple and split it into two parts: the euthanasia process, and the…read morecremation process. My experiences were very different for each. EUTHANASIA (500 stars, A+): Moriah Hughson was wonderful on the phone during my intake call to Lap of Love. Her gentle voice and compassion for me and my dog was palpable. Dr. Karyl Hurley was wonderful when she came to my residence - she made my dog's last moments on this planet comfortable and the process went very quickly. Dr. Karyl wrapped my baby up in so many beautiful, fluffy blankets for her final departure from the house . I was honestly very concerned about the prospect of carrying my dog's dead body out of my house for the final time, but Dr. Hurley treated her body with the utmost respect and care and it was not nearly as traumatic as I anticipated. If you have the means, Lap of Love is the most peaceful and dignified way for your beloved family member to transition. Thank you, Dr. Karyl for gently escorting my dogter to the next dimension. CREMATION (2 stars): Now for the negative: I opted to have my dog's ashes sent directly to my house since my primary vet is a mobile vet and didn't have an "office" for the cremains to be sent to. I received an email on Feb, 8th from Leigh Skarzynski, the "Crematory Relationship Administrator" (this was two days after my dog was euthanized) saying it can take 10-14 days to receive the cremains back. Fast forward to 5 days after my dog passed - UPS shows up at my house unannounced on a Saturday (Feb 10) with a package that required a signature. I was asleep in my bed, depressed, and didn't feel like answering the door. I figured it was a condolence gift from someone and they would leave the package on my porch. When I later realized something was being delivered that required a signature I simply figured I would sign the authorization slip to "leave it" and then get it on Monday. On Monday (the 12th) I just so happened to be home when the UPS man came, and as he walked up to my stoop I could see "PET CREMAINS" in big print on the box in his hand. I immediately broke down in tears. I started crying out, "I didn't know, I didn't know she was coming!" How did no one tell me she was coming on Saturday? She sat on a truck for two days, and I could have had her sooner! The guilt was eating me up. I reached out to Leigh Skarzynski immediately to tell her that my pet's remains showed up completely unannounced and outside the anticipated delivery window, and she responded that an email had gone out Friday (Feb. 9th) at 6:30 pm. I scoured my email (and I even have UPS Delivery Manager) and wrote back that absolutely no notice was sent. She suggested it went to spam. FAST FORWARD to February 13th - 5 days after the first attempt to delivery my pet's ashes and 1 day after already having possession of them - and I get an email from UPS saying that the cremains would be delivered on February 14th. Are you f'ing kidding me?????? My dead dog (assuming there was no mix-up...) is back in my possession and now I am getting emails about her cremains arriving? I forwarded this message to Leigh, again, as proof that I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE THAT MY PET'S ASHES WERE ON THE WAY, and that email has gone un-answered, sent more than 24-hours ago now. I firmly believe that the crematory partner should email Lap of Love or the pet parent directly when they ship the cremains. I do not know how this utter lack of communication happened with such a sensitive situation, but it definitely pissed me off and left a sour taste in my mouth. I will say that the cremains themselves were packed with care and I am happy to have her home (again, assuming it's really her...the delivery drama planted a seed of doubt) but I really could have done without the delivery trauma and poor communication from LoL and their crematory partner, Abbey Glen.
