I moved to this area last year and began taking my dogs and cat to a local veterinarian practice. My cat, whom I had adopted a few months before, was quite elderly and soon began to die. My local vet, knowing she was dying and in pain, saw no need to see her for two weeks. I called A Peaceful Return to Eden. Doctor Lori was kind, compassionate, and skillful. Moochie died in my arms, purring up to the last minute. Thank you for sparing my girl anymore pain.

This is incredibly painful for me to write, but I feel I have to. Dr. Lori came to my house 8 days ago for my precious Jitterbug. I previously had to say goodbye to two cats at home and the experience was nothing like this. Jitterbug deserved the best and she got the worst. I don't understand how this happened. I looked at all the reviews on here, which were all positive. I explained ahead of time that Jitterbug did not like being picked up, as much as she loved to be next to me she never liked to be picked up and she was scared of new people. I picked Jitterbug up and she was squirming and I was barely holding on to her and Dr Lori came in, barely said anything and next thing I know she jammed a needle into Jitterbug and she jumped up. I barely held on to her. She caught my ear with her back leg and I said to her did you get all of the shot in and she said yes. I didn't see how. Now I don't understand why she didn't have an assistant or why she didn't have Jitterbug on the floor or on the table to give her the shot without that happening. She might have said she was giving her the shot. To be honest, I don't know because she was wearing a mask so half of what she said was muffled and I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. Jitterbug has gotten shots at the vet and she behaved perfectly. She also had a vet come in the house and gave her an insulin shot and the vet was on the floor with her and she didn't even flinch so if she'd been held professionally (because I'm not a professional) she probably wouldn't have reacted that way. After the shot, I was told that Jitterbug's brain was no longer sending signals and she would not feel anything anymore and when I've had this done before it was very quick but she continued to struggle in my arms. (She also had a dose of Gabapentin an hour before the dr got there.) I don't know how long it was but seemed like a while. When I had this done previously, the doctor would discreetly stand off to the side and be quiet and allow you your time with your pet and Dr Lori didn't do that. She sat there and asked me questions. And then Dr Lori said Jitterbug had passed and she took her from me and wrapped her in a blanket with her head still out and wrapped her tightly and with straps in something and her blue eye popped open and I said her eye just popped open and the dr proceeded to tell me some people die with their eyes open and so do pets. I said I realized that but it just popped open now. She proceeded to repeatedly try to squeeze her eyes shut and it kept opening then she handed her to me and Jitterbug had a very loud snuffly breathing and she was clearly still breathing and I screamed that she was still alive. Dr Lori said that was just one last breath escaping her. She continued to breathe loudly and I saw her fur moving and then she finally unwrapped her and listened with the stethoscope and said there was very faint heartbeat and something to the effect of that even when she worked in the ER it was difficult sometimes to tell when a pet had passed. She said she was going to give her another shot, whether she did or not I don't know, and after that I didn't want to let her go until I was positive she was gone and I continued to hold her and Dr Lori sat with me a long time talking with me and she did seem very compassionate. I didn't process what happened until hours later and I said this was not the way it was supposed to happen and I sent her a long email the next day. I received a receipt in response. Then she texted me later in the day and said how are you doing and I explained to her all of my concerns and I was hoping that she would apologize and give me some sort of explanation and she just continued to say that Jitterbug felt nothing after the first shot. She wouldn't address that she said Jitterbug had passed when she didn't and was wrapping her up and the trauma of that. I can only hope and pray that by that point Jitterbug was unaware of what was going on. She continued to not address that and basically just said well you're upset and I'll pray for you and while she was very compassionate afterwards and stayed with me for a long time, I wish she had taken that time in the beginning because I don't know why it happened like this. I don't understand how this happened with 30 years experience to mistake a pet being passed. I have told several people what happened, including two vet techs, and everyone's response to me has been that's horrific and this definitely should not have happened and there's no excuse for this. So I'm just writing what happened and people can do what they will with this, but if I had seen a review like this, I would have never picked her and Jitterbug would not have had to go through this. To my dying day I will never forgive myself for picking Dr Lori and putting Jitterbug through this. I failed my precious baby.

I was so lucky to have my best girl Boo with me for 17 years. Letting her go was a hard decision to make but I knew she was suffering. I didn't want her to go to the vets office in the end. I wanted her to be home and on her favorite bed. I can't tell you how grateful I am to not only be able to do this in my home but with someone that showed so much care and compassion. She felt more like a friend coming by to say goodbye to Boo. Thank you for helping her pass in the comfort of her home. Michelle

    Teeny in his prime

My beloved cat teeny was passing away at home and then it became where he started to suffer and I did not want him to go through more stress by taking him to a vet to have him euthanized. I've had cats all my life and I've never had to have a cat euthanized and I went online and look for places and I didn't realize that people actually come to your home and do that in the comfort of your own home for you and your pet. I got in touch with a peaceful return to Eden and it was getting later in the afternoon however they still came through. The sweetest most caring person I've ever met Dr Lori ended up driving I believe all the way from New Jersey to Pennsylvania to come see teeny. The strange thing is teeny passed away the moment doctor Lori pulled up. She picked him up in a baby blanket and a carrier and let us spend as much time with him as needed. Also usually when you have your cat cremated which is the first time I've ever done this they send the remains in the mail but Dr Lori is personally delivering teeny back to me! She has gone above and beyond and didn't even charge for the euthanization process just for the visit. Dr Lori truly understands the grief and loss of your precious family member which would be your pet. I miss the pitter patter of teeny's feet in the morning begging for food so much! I highly recommend if you're ever in this sad situation to give a peaceful return to Eden and come to your house and they will make things so much easier for you and your pet.

There are not enough words to express how loving and compassionate Dr. Lori is. Yesterday, it was time to say goodbye to our sweet, beautiful and sassy Stella. From the moment Dr. Lori arrived she began comforting and speaking to our girl in such a loving tone. She explained each step she was taking and exactly what to expect. She allowed our family (including our other pup) to take as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes and was so gentle. This woman is a beautiful human being and we feel blessed that this angel showed up at our door to guide our girl to the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you Dr. Lori for being the woman you are. You have a very special place in our hearts.

I had her euthanasia scheduled for Saturday morning at 11. She chose to go on her own, she had no fight left in her. She was 19 years old (Oct 2). She had advanced heart disease and was in kidney failure due to the medication she was prescribed for her heart. She was on the medication for over 3 years, we monitored her at her primary vet as well as her cardiologist. She fought hard. Such a tough little girl. But Friday, she was done. I have thought and feared this day since the moment I got her. I wish I had gotten that one last night or taken the day off but there was no way I could of predicted what I came home to. As I sat there with her, watching her last breaths and having my hand on her last heartbeats, I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I was sobbing and saying the words that she had died were impossible . I called the vet back to cancel my Saturday appt assuming they would have a plan for her body. There is not a plan for this circumstance. The call taker just said to call around and find a place that does pet cremations. I had to google places . Only 3 places came up. 2 being closed til 9am on Saturday and the 3rd, Dear Pet Memorial Park, OPEN 24 hrs! I thought this can't be right but I called and Keith answered immediately. I don't even think it rang twice before he answered. Through my tears, I briefly explained what had just happened. No hesitation, he said, I can be there within the hour. Sure enough, he was here in 45 mins. His presence brought some kind of peace to the situation. He gave me the choice to hold her for a little while later or take her out when he arrived. I did have him take her right away. I kissed her little cold nose and handed her to him. After she was settled, ready to be transported in his car, he came back in to discuss the process. I was going with a private cremation instead of communal. He went over the timeline and said he would have her back on Tuesday. He wasn't pushy with the add ons ( paw print, jewlery, urns) he just gave me the options he had to offer. I chose a clay paw print in a shadow box , with the rainbow bridge poem on the other side. I also got the basic wooden box with her name on a gold plate. The box is not sealed which is what I would of requested anyway because I'm going to have a piece of jewelry made from her ashes. Sure enough, Tuesday is here and she is back home. The paw print is amazing, I was never able to push her paw into clay or ink and get an impression. I'm so thankful Keith was able to get it just as imagined it would be. I would recommend this business and Keith to anyone in the area. He is compassionate, and caring. The exact person/personality you would want helping you at the worst moment of your life. I can't say enough good things about him and his business. Telling him "Thank You" is not enough. To have someone , a complete stranger, come to your house and comfort you so quickly is just amazing. I will remember his kindness forever. Thank You Keith!!! I am posting a few pictures of Cady during better times.

Hamish is our beloved almost 16 year old dog who had been increasingly in pain and panting, showing signs of dementia, and losing the ability to get up off the floor without assistance. Making the decision to put him to sleep was so very difficult. We were so relieved to find a vet who could provide a relaxing outdoor setting without the stress of a traditional veterinary hospital. Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia is set on a farm in the country, so, on a plush blanket laid on grass and clover, underneath an oak tree, with a picnic table and benches available, beloved Hamish was able to gently leave behind his pain and anxiety with the help of Dr. Craig Little and Nurse Cindy. They explained everything that was going to take place and chatted with us which helped us relax. And of course they handled Hamish gently and compassionately. I was able to sit on the grass right next to Hamish and pet him constantly throughout the procedure. They explained some things along the way which was helpful. I remember Dr. Little reaching across Hamish with his stethscope to listen to his heartbeat, and gently indicating to me that he was gone. We were not rushed away; I was able to continue petting and talking to Hamish as long as I wanted to. My husband and I, as well as Hamish, were treated with great respect. Before we left, there were hugs all around. I noticed that when we left, Cindy got on the ground with Hamish and continued to pet and care for him. So for Hamish, it was a day that began with a breakfast of brownies, ham and cereal, which was followed by a nice ride in the car to Readington, where he got out onto a grassy field with a cozy blanket waiting for him to rest upon, and friendly people waiting to help him. Yes we are sad, and yes, we miss him, but the quality of care we received from Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia definitely has helped us get through it. I should also mention that Dr. Little's wife Susie was our first contact with Tender Comforts In home Pet Euthanasia. She set up our appointment, and facilitated changing the times when we requested it. She was very compassionate! I also need to mention that we were given a sympathy card with wild flower seeds and a pamphlet on coping on the loss of a companion animal. I would not hesitate to use this service again, and highly recommend them to anyone who needs it for their pet. This is a tremendous resource!
