So many locally owned businesses down here! Main Gate houses over 60 shops, restaurants, boutiques,…read morecoffee shops, tea shops, salon services, bars and more, and the majority are locally owned. Yep! An entire stretch of awesomeness in the middle of the University area that's pedestrian friendly too! With the modern street car construction parking has been a bit tight, but they've got 2 garages and offer parking validation, so there's no need to drive in circles looking for a spot right on the boulevard! Plus, parking is free on the weekends! I love coming down to Main Gate (aka. University Boulevard) because it's always hustling and bustling with University students and locals shopping around. The variety of shops and restaurants is so diverse it's impossible to find something you don't like! I enjoy Wilko for great cocktails and atmosphere, and Pasco for creative farm table food. Grand Central and Pitaya are also fun locally owned shops, but those are just a couple! Throughout the year, you can enjoy FREE outdoor concerts and other awesome entertainment. I'm looking forward to the completion of the modern street car so that I can ride it from downtown all the way to Main Gate and hit up all the locally owned shops along the way! If you haven't been to Main Gate, GO! It's a great place to do some personal shopping as well as gift shopping....ahem...the holidays are here! Lot's of options my friends.

Excellent commercial, hotels, shopping and restaurant area. Middle of University of Arizona campus…read more So lots of students walking and albeit I only experienced a couple of days it looked very safe at all times. Plenty of parking garages for a fee and some street parking.

The University of Arizona Parking and Transportation Services office is terrible and unclear. When…read moreI paid $700 for my parking permit, I did not know that I would need to move my car for EVERY game day and specific school events. I can only move my car during certain times of that day to a different parking lot, but to make matters worse, I am only allowed to move back to my original parking lot between 11 pm and 7 am the next business day. Most of the time I need get up at the buttcrack of dawn to move my car back before I get a ticket. One day, I had forgotten there was a basketball game at night because I did not receive a reminder email stating that I needed to move my car. However, I did get a warning email that told me I had 10 minutes to move my car before I got either a ticket or towed. I was on the other side of Tucson, and it would take me 30 minutes to even get to my car. I was FREAKING OUT. At the bottom of that email, it said that if I need to make accommodations, then I should call the provided number. I called and told them I would need an additional 20 minutes to move my car, but that I was already on my way. They said I would be fine and that they would put something on my account that says I am on my way. So I was feeling good until I got to my car and saw the ticket sitting on my windshield. I immediately moved my car and called them, but they told me that I would've gotten a ticket no matter what because I was late. The office is SO dumb. They made it seem like I was lying when I said they told me it was okay. They should make all their rules clear and tell people before they even buy their permit that they need to move their car because the University of Arizona doesn't have student-specific parking.

The University of Arizona parking and transportation office is terrible. I have a four day a week…read morejob here and I need my car everyday to get to and from work. We have about a hundred different parking lots and garages, and the ONLY one they could fit me in was the farthest one 20 minute walk from my dorm? They say they're completely full, yet they have space to relocate my entire garage on game days and events. Not to mention, on game days, you have to move your car between 2 and 4 pm that day-they don't care if you have class-and it has to be back at that garage between 11 pm THAT NIGHT and 7 am the next day. So either I have to move it back after 11 because I'm not allowed in the garage before that, and walk across campus alone after dark, or wake up at 6 am to move my car because otherwise I will be fined or TOWED, which has happened before because no one cared that I was sick and couldn't move my car at 6 in the freaking morning. Not to mention, I've called once or twice asking about an update, because I was told my situation was temporary and they would get me in somewhere else-a lie- and the people were SO rude. Acting like I'm ignorant for calling because I would get an email about getting off the waitlist. Like maybe I just wanted to call and check because it's been three months and I still have to walk 20 minutes across campus just to get to my car when I could name at least 8 closer lots and garages that always have open spots?? Like I hate this office wow.
