This is one of the best bakeries around. Homemade fresh pies both sweet and savory, jams, jellies, honey, cookies and other delectables. We went twice in a week. Initial visit we got some jams, hot cocoa mix and cookies. Both the molasses cookies and the Butterscotch are wonderful. On the second visit, picked up more molasses cookies as well as a mini berry pie and a berry turnover. The owners are just wonderful, very kind people and remember faces and names of regulars and non regulars. They've got some of the sweetest little dogs running around the farm. read more

I'll stay in Ashland with our friend who recently relocated here, she insisted we needed to come out to Pennington Farms. The fall trees were beautiful as we made our way down the country road. We arrived around 11 AM and they were not too crowded on this cold fall day. Sam was working in the front counter and he was a very fun guy to talk to. He has a great sense of humor. We started off with a raspberry frosted danish and a blueberries scone. The danish was quite good and the scone was one of the best we've ever had. Her friend also got a chocolate chip cookie, which was really delicious! We also left with a couple of large jars of jam. Some of them were berries I've never heard of but Sam was helpful to explain them to me. We enjoyed petting the black kitty who is quite friendly. He was our best friend during our entire visit. Pennington Farms is the JAM! Plenty of parking and a variety of options for seating. Beautiful farm setting in Applegate Valley. They have endless options of jam flavors, honey, syrup, and even their own pancake mix! But what really takes the cake, or should I say pie... is their baked goods! What a tough choice to pick from, but we had a strawberry-rhubarb cutie sized pie, which was perfect to share between two people for breakfast haha. Do not come here with your gluten free allergy. This is a family owned and operated business *5-stars* Everyone is super welcoming and very chill. I tasted a sample of the "pear butter" on top of what I believe was an 'ol skool wheat thin with a baby smear of cream cheese. I never would have thought it, but it was DAMN GOOD! I'm definitely going to try this out for the holidays with The Fam :D Purchased an individual savory mushroom, spinach, swiss cheese "pie" for $7. It was not what I was expecting. In all fairness, I didn't ask any questions either. The filling is white rice w/ listed ingredients well folded and baked into what I consider the star of the dish... the crust *YUM*. I was not excited to see the white rice, but that crust could have baked around a cat turd and it would still be at least 4-stars. The dough, baked like a muffin top, would sell like crazy; it's that good. When you want pie, but just a slice... there are a variety of turnovers for sale for $5 each. The turnover was tasty, had a balanced crust/filling ratio, not overly sweet. *Maybe let people know that it is better to eat now. I saved it for later and by the time I got home... the turnover crust was firmly glued to the paper and I lost a lot of the crust. What I ate was delish! Just wish I got to eat it as a turnover with an envelope of that delicious crust. I will most definitely come again eariler in the day. It would be a great outting for out of town guests and/or on a wine tasting tour along the route. How many places have 5 star reviews? This place deserves it. What an amazing place to happen upon. You can tell it's a local's favorite spot. They have so many pastries to choose from. Pies, danish, cookies, cakes, cinnamon rolls and more. Show up early and you can even eat them hot out of the oven. My child said it was the best chicken pot pie ever. For a place that claims to be family friendly and be family owned, you think one would have a lot better customer service, and tact. This was the FIRST place I came from Wisconsin to visit my sister. Now, I did warn her and ask if she "was sure" about coming a little later (they were closing in about half an hour)...buyer beware! The man seemed nice enough, but had some select sarcastic remarks. Now the lady...my sister had to take her son & daughter to the bathroom before we left. Wrong move, I guess. "The lady" gave a sickly sweet smile to my sweet niece and told us (and her directly) that they opened at 4 in the morning and that "she just cleaned the bathroom." My sister has been feeling bad enough, basically being a single Mom in a new place (recently moved to Southern Oregon). I had to say something, I retorted, "You don't know what people are going through." She had earbuds in after my sister went up to her, amidst my nephews crying, letting her know that she could clean the bathroom. There wasn't even a mess...shame on any family owned business that doesn't have grace for another. read more

This farm is incredible!!! Walking up is super cute and quaint. The grounds are kept up nicely and you can tell they are actually working here and it's not just something they say they do. The building/barn with the food items is small but nicely situated. There is a LARGE variety of jams, in many different sizes, along with other items for sale. Being from Hawaii originally myself, I loved seeing all the Hawaiian influences and items for sale. I loved being able to see inside the kitchen and watch the jams being bottled up. They also sell coffee and baked goods for you to take home or to enjoy on the property. There are many lovely places to sit and enjoy your meal with beautiful vistas. We were fortunately enough to get the last pie, in the flavor I wanted, rhubarb!!! The pie was soooo good. Like incredible! And the cookies? To die for!!! Went for a drive last weekend to pick up a random bottle of wine for my wife. Figured I'd hit out to Applegate. Well on my lazy drive stopped at #PenningtonFarms along 238 and holy cow was not disappointed. Family run farm making pies and jams. Wound up with a large apple pie and a chicken pot pie along with a few danishes. I haven't touched the apple pie yet but that chicken pot pie, after heating it up for 1/2hr, was absolutely incredible. Heard so many great things about this place before even coming, so it was truly hyped up to us but man... did it live up to it. We walked in and you can already smell the deliciousness of the pies as you stroll around, looking at the cute knickknacks being sold. Everyone was very warm and friendly, and the pot pies and regular pies are the most delectable pies to ever exist. Definitely not joking. They were warm when we bought them, and we went outside in the back and enjoyed them with our friends as their kids ran around in the grass. It was a sunny and perfect Saturday afternoon, and Pennington Farms' pies provided us not only the delicious food but a comfortable area to enjoy them too. We stopped here on a early Saturday afternoon while driving from Grants Pass to Jacksonville. The drive itself is beautiful and the farm is very charming. Inside the building there is a small area where you can purchase fresh berries, jams and jellies, baked goods such as cookies, pastries and pies. Unfortunately we arrived to late to grab one of the pies but it was a good stop anyway. They also have water and canned sodas for purchase. The employees were very friendly and helpful and their is sure to be something for everyone. This is a nice place to stop and check out on the drive from Grants Pass to Jacksonville. read more

I have been searching for the best jam for years. I bought the most expensive jams found in stores, and even ones that are imported from France. I am always left disappointed. I usually end up throwing the jar away and wasting money because it tastes artificial. My friend got me a jar of the Tayberry Jam (blackberry and red raspberry cross) from Pennington Farms - OH MY GOD. It is absolutely addicting. The fruit tastes so incredibly fresh. Just look at the photos of the chunks of fruit in this amazing jar of jam. Hands down, best I have ever had. If you haven't already done so, order it. You will not be disappointed. Tayberry is my favorite flavor (although I haven't tried all the others). I intend to try the other flavors soon! read more

What kind of witchcraft is this?!? The chicken pot pie is good hot, it's good cold. It's good fresh, but my favorite is the frozen pie that you can bake later.
