4-25-17 Tuesday around 2:30pm I needed some signs made up for my Mohawk Pet Expo. I spoke to Richard. He showed me some custom linens. I met with his designer. She was amazing. Richard asked me when I needed these linens to be ready. I told him by 4-28. He said they would try to accommodate my needs. They should be ready 2pm that Friday. Got a call from Ashley Thursday around 9:45am saying they have delivered... One day early and a impossible deadline. Everything was amazing. Richard and his team are the best ever. Preface: I'm very, very rarely motivated to write poor reviews, so you should definitely heed this warning. "Eek! Methinks not" is right, Yelp. I'm a graphic designer based in Redlands. I'm an advocate for quality, and I'd been wanting to try Pennington out on a project since I moved to the area. I was finally able to convince one of my clients to pay a little extra, which I thought would be a huge win for supporting local businesses in Redlands. To make a long story... well, still pretty long, they outsourced the job to a company in New Jersey. We got the proofs, no problems at all. Well, there was a very ugly spot on all 500 prints that did not appear on the proofs. It was the fault of the printer. The outsourced printer demanded the prints back before they would reprint. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to move the delivery date up two days. From invoice paid, files with Pennington, to having the correct prints in hand, it took a grand total of 1 month + 4 days. Key: What put me over the edge is that there was absolutely no urgency, on any level, to fix the problem. I'd paid the bill already. I should also mention that my client is in New York, very close to New Jersey. They could've taken the correct prints over on a truck, but they're telling us 7-10 days for a reprint. So, I requested a discount, which seemed reasonable given the timeline, my contact at Pennington agreed and said "Absolutely. I'm working out the details". Still nothing. During this 1 month + 4 days, I'm telling my client to sit tight almost every day. A few days later, on a Friday, I was told that the owner, Richard, wanted to speak to me and would call at 1:30pm. I finally received a phone call from him on Tuesday at 4pm. This is where it turns really unpleasant. Richard was not at all interested in finding a compromise, or an amicable solution. He a) thought that the timeline was completely acceptable and b) only wanted to absolve himself and prove that I was being unreasonable, reiterating that Pennington "did everything" that they could have done (1 month + 4 days). When I explained that I did not feel as though they had done everything possible, and asked him if he would honor the discount that my contact had deemed appropriate, his response was yelling "Are you serious?! Are you serious?!" at me. Uh, okay. If outsourcing to a dodgy printer in New Jersey and providing me with very lackadaisical customer service "everything" that Pennington can do, then I guess that pretty much sums it up. There is absolutely no added value in choosing Pennington. There are plenty of cheaper, similar quality (or better) printers who will work a lot harder to make sure that their vendors are responsible, and customers are taken care of. In summation: Not local, New Jersey. 1 month + 4 days. Lackadaisical. Angry Richard. Hugely surprising, mostly disappointing. Don't even consider it. I ordered business cards, which are great, but I was disappointed with their service. I thought a smaller business would be more customer service minded, but the cards weren't ready on time. Dakota, the worker that was assisting me, said that she was still waiting for me to approve the cards, even though she responded to my approval email, saying she was sending the order to be printed, which means she forgot about it for several days and was trying to blame the delay on me. So, I'd get any deadline with them in writing, in the future, and remind them of the deadline, since initially letting her know wasn't enough. I asked if they could give me a few temporary business cards and Dakota said no. I was directed to a manager, after informing them I wanted my money back. Only then, was I given temporary cards. I think their designs are cute, but I don't know if I'll ever want to go through them again. I paid $70 for 1,000 business cards and was treated as an inconvenience. They said the final product would be done Monday or Tuesday and that they'd call me; they didn't call me and the cards weren't until Wednesday evening. read more

I recently found myself in Pennington Designs to explore the options of what to have for favors for my husband's medical class reunion. At first they were so very attentive and made things happen quickly including checking on prices and options of what could be done Leaving the store I returned a few days later and had decided on making labels to customize gift bags, water bottles and cookies. I should have stopped right there. The graphic designer didn't seem to be very creative ~ I had to constantly make suggestions! The folks at the front desk seemed to be very distracted and I spent way more time in the store than necessary! The huge disappointment came when I came to pick up the labels. The labels were printed on flat paper not shinny as I assumed would happen. I didn't think to clarify the type of paper because when ever I've had custom labels printed in the past it was ALWAYS on glossy paper!!! To make matters worse the labels looked like they had been cut by a young child ~ very uneven and unusable!!! The only thing that went well was the graphic I worked with the designer on to design to be baked on a cookie at the local Michelle's Bakery! (Pennington Designs kindly emailed the design to the bakery). I'm sorry I spent way to much money for what I wasn't able to use and had to scramble at the last minute to pull together another option. I can't recommend this business. I have examples of the labels if anyone wishes to view. SORRY!!! read more
