According to an Instagram post from Hainan Jones this summer, there's was 6-month "pardon." I enjoyed the hokkien mee at Prawnaholic Collections. Some vendors are gone forever but Mr. Fried Rice and Padi D'NYC appear to be open. (I was there at night, current operating hours aren't posted but overall the market closes earlier than before).

Though on a serious note--kinda bummed bc I wanted to make one last visit before they closed July 17, though unfortunately I didn't make it back to town in time :( What a loss of a cultural connection point for the city! Food is a gateway to experiencing and understanding other cultures and this location was front and center in midtown, blocks from Times Square. In a sea of other cuisines, this part of Southeast Asia didn't/doesn't have much representation in general in Manhattan, and even less so now. Scouring articles and comments online I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they're able to find a different space in the near future! Was it the best food court? I'll admit this was easily debatable for many reasons. But each stall had their own standouts. Tradsiyon was a later addition though had really solid braised meat and veggie bowls; Hainan Jones stepped into a midtown scene several years ago with no other similar Hainanese chicken spots in midtown (a few others thankfully are around today); Kopifellas brought uniquely Singaporean/Malasian tea and coffee options; I still remember the first bite of Prawnaholic's signature shrimp and rib noodles tasting that savory goodness for the first time; and most of all I will dearly miss this location of Lady Wong, where I rarely walked away empty handed. Thank you for the memories (and think about that movie plot twist I mentioned above)!

Upon entering I was excited to see Jase barbecue. I heard of this viral restaurant via Smorgasburg and Jase was always hard to track down. I attended smorgasburg Jase and they would not be there on the day I attended. Anyway I digress I ordered the jerk ribs Mac and cheese. The bar at the entrance has a happy hour from 4pm - 7pm. I ordered a rum punch to go $10 with my meal. I loved the large televisions that broadcasting the US open. By the way my second cocktail was a honey deuce $13 served in an official US open glass that I got to keep. I finished that cocktail on the terrace. It was a nice lovely evening away from the crowds of union square. I can't wait to come back. Oh there's a server that goes table to table taking drink orders. Food can be ordered at each kiosk or one can scan a QR code and the server can bring it to you. There are public bathrooms and a time out market photo booth .

Figured I'd check it out for dinner since they showcase so many good eats. The space operates just like a Food Hall where there are a variety of food stalls to purchase from and you sit in a general seating area (center of the indoor space). Some outdoor seating but it is not covered. I spotted a French bistro and bar, BBQ, Thai, Vegan and burgers' spot just to make a few. Each stall offering unique food options and independent of one another so there's no competition. Something for everyone. Really well maintained, tables are frequently cleaned and each place offers a buzzer so you're alerted when the food is ready. There's even a photo booth and a backyard type garden space once you get to the back of the space. That outdoor oasis is great for groups, not covered (no roof, just open seating) but offers mood lighting and bright decor. Music plays overhead in both spaces, on speakers and there are several TV's featuring sports channels and food videos inside the hall. This visit I tried the BBQ stall (think smokey brisket and mac and cheese) and hubby got Thai food (Pad Thai with shrimp). Both were great choices and reasonably priced overall. Daily lunch specials throughout at $14 a pop, per the advertisement on the front door area. Casual chic is how I would describe the place. Great air conditioning and great for groups of all sizes. High top seating, standard tables and booths available. Very comfortable and a nice foodie spot overall. We were never rushed and I saw folks just enjoying a night out. Totally recommend.

This place is every claustrophobic person's worst nightmare. Walking around to see what each stall had to offer was difficult with swarms of people constantly moving around. Fortunately, we were able to find a table for four to eat our food. We tried food from three vendors, which gave us a nice variety: - Liu Liu Sheng Jian 六六生煎王 - Nai Brother 奈哥 - Tarim Uyghur Food There are at least 20 vendors at this food court, with more options than we could possibly try in one visit. With so many people, I quickly became overwhelmed by how busy it was. Still, I'd definitely come back to try some of the other vendors, but probably on a less busy day!

Lots of different types of food stalls and treats, and all kinds of cuisine. Food varies wildly here, almost everything for someone's taste. Located in the New World Mall, lower level food court is an example of the food culture in Asia, and we love it for that. It's not the cleanest (bring some wipes for the table/chairs) and you have to queue for food and seating when busy, but it's a great place to try a lot of different foods. There's a new Shanghainese bun spot in one corner, but I do end up over the Taiwan treat stall for stinky tofu or at one of the couple of dessert/boba tea shops for a treat, or the mala dry hot pot spot if I'm craving dangerous levels of spice. And they also have the teriyaki chicken/noodle/rice mall equivalent. Note - your signal will be crap down here. There is a large elevator to the parking lot/upstairs but it's slow.

I was pretty surprised to find fresh, handmade dim sum here, and the best part is you don't have to tip like you normally would at dim sum spots. They also have SUPER affordable roast meat over rice (燒味飯), starting at just $8 for one topping, two for $9, three for $10, and four toppings for just $12. And I always have to stop by Yan Wo Dou Bun (人和豆品) for their tofu pudding too. *Roast Duck 燒鴨, Soy Sauce Chicken 豉油雞, Roast Pork 燒肉 Both the duck and chicken had that glossy, shiny skin, caramelized to a reddish-brown color. They were a little more bone-in than I'd prefer, but the meat itself stayed tender (even the chicken breast!). The roast pork belly was my favorite of the three. It wasn't overly salty like a lot of the roast pork I've had around Chinatown, and I loved the crispy skin and lean-to-fat ratio. *Sampen Congee 艇仔粥 $8 + Youtiao 油條 $2 This one hit so hard on a rainy day. 艇仔粥 is always my go-to when I don't know what to order since you get a little bit of everything. They really loaded this one up with thick-cut fish fillet (LOVE), squid, pork strips, and youtiao slices. I also ordered a fresh youtiao on the side, and it was GINORMOUS. Dipping crispy youtiao into hot congee is the GOAT. *Vegetable and Pork Bun 菜肉包 $5 *Deep Fried Taro Dumpling 芋角 $5 *Black Sesame Roll 芝麻卷 $4 The dim sum stall had the longest line when I was there! I only tried three items, and the steamed bao was my favorite. You can also grab their frozen dim sum to take home. The 芋角 had a lacy, crispy crust and stuffed with minced pork and smooth taro paste, while the black sesame roll wasn't quite nutty enough for me.
