We came here with some friends & had not been here since it changed hands a few years ago as we no longer live in the area. Honestly, we were a bit concerned as we were the only table at 6pm on a Friday in the whole place, but it ended up being a decent experience. The server was prompt & friendly. The menus are individual placemat type sheets of paper - so that seemed odd for a higher end place, but I guess if you change them frequently it's more convenient for them. The calamari appetizer was very good. Our friends got the salmon, hubby got a pork loin dish & I got the pasta bolognese. All the food was good, but not spectacular. My pasta had good flavor but it was overdone - not mushy but definitely too soft. Portions were generous, dare I say almost excessive - I'm not kidding when I say I had an entire 1lb box of pasta in my bowl & hubby wasn't able to finish his meal which is rare. They have added a nice bar on the patio outside which will be nice in the cooler months. So overall, it was just meh. Nothing overwhelmingly fantastic but nothing horrible. Probably won't be back when we're on that side of town again because there are lots of other/better choices in the area. read more

A 5 star dinner and the service from Angela was too notch! Her knowledge of the menu was excellent- i had the lobster pot pie and my husband had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Went there Tuesday night. We tried 5 different offerings on the happy hour menu. Wagyu tacos in wait... potato chip tacos, absolutely scrumptious. Crispy rock shrimp plentiful and delicious. Short ribs quesadilla with a uniquely fabulous salsa. The fried calamari was tender and the sauces, especially the lime anchovy aioli, a must try. And my favorite the meatball sliders, oh I'll be having them again soon. All on an absolutely beautiful alfresco dining area. Great atmosphere and flavorful cuisine !! read more

The atmosphere was wonderful on the outside bar area, music by John Sullivan was amazing !!! Now on to the food which was mediocre at best. I ordered the gulf shrimp, be aware you get 6 shrimp that were saltier than the ocean for $42 (just shrimp). We ordered creamy spinach but was brought mashed potatoes, returned them and got the spinach after we had eaten (they did take it off the bill). My companion got the wild salmon which was good but heavy on the salt. Will try again, may have been an off night for them. Unfortunately our experience was not a good one. We were looking forward to trying the new place. Went in and of course love the atmosphere as it's just a nice bar. The bartenders are great. Former Altons staff. They weren't that busy which did surprise us. We sat and it took a few but we did get our drinks and placed our order for the "oysters Rockefeller" we finished our cocktail and asked where our food might be. Austin went and checked and said it was coming out and got us another cocktail. We waited another 15 minutes and asked if he could check again. The manager comes out and apologized and said it would be out soon. Then the chef came out with our and apologized and said he had dropped our order and hadn't told the staff what had happened. They gave us a free cocktail and we ate the OR... honestly they were terrible. The collard greens were hardly cooked so extremely tough and the oysters were tiny and the dish was cold. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We totally understand the issue if in fact the chef had dropped the dish but the whole staff was scrambling to come up with excuse after excuse...we truly believe they just dropped the bal and threw the dish together. read more

Not too crazy about it. As the successor to Alton's it leaves a lot to be desired. In my personal opinion my plate of food isn't really as tasty as it is expensive. The carrot cake is good though! read more

I am so extremely disappointed in the quality and presentation of food. We decided to share small bites and got the lobster tacos, crab cakes, wedge salad and fries. Unexpectedly the lobster tacos were cold as the name implies warm (taco), the crab cakes did not taste crab rather bread stuffing and black beans on top on a red sauce was not at all appealing or what I have ever had for crab cakes. The fries were like a dried out old baked potato that was cut info wedges and fried. The bottom of the fry was burnt and dried out. The wedge salad was great. We ordered a cocktail which was great and beer. The waitress was very polite, attentive and great. I think she was fantastic. However I cannot recall a time I have had such disappointing food at a place I expected to be fabulous. I emailed the food group the feedback directly and did not hear back. read more

Nothing "Prime" about this place. I took my husband there of his birthday and our server was very inattentive and unapologetic for the terrible service and experience she provided. It took forever to just get a cocktail. All of our food was cold and waited in the kitchen for a long time. What was meant to be crispy (like calamari) was soggy. We were charged for wine we never received. In general the wait staff seemed poorly managed, immature and not experienced. I would not recommend this place, nor will I ever go there again given their low standards. A total waste of $500! read more

Just got back from Peninsula Prime for the 3rd try. This restaurant has a such a good location to be excellent. However, it sucks. Don't ever order the crab cakes, horrible. In fact everything sucks. I have given up on this place. Go to Taco Bell. read more

I must give this restaurant 0 stars. I hate to do this. I have been in wait service so I try very much to understand that mistakes and things can happen. However, we were told by the bartender that it was half price bottle of wine up to $150, so we order a $77 bottle of wine and we order bar bites. We get our wine (white) and after they open and pour it, he leaves it sit in front of us in no cooling container.... One hour later and still we do not have our food. We ask the bartender and he says that he forgot to put our order in. Okay, we wait another 45 minutes and still no food. My husband asks for the manager and tells him that we never received our food order and we just want to tab out. We get our bill and it is $80+. He asks about the 1/2 price on the bottle of wine. The manager says that it is up to $75 only. That's not what the bartender told us initially. The manager proceeds to argue with my husband, refuses to honor what the bartender had originally told us or even just apologize. I am sorry, but I cannot go there ever again. Had a great meal at Peninsula, our server, Margot was excellent, attentive and responsive, and the food was quite good. I had the Prime Rib, which was nice and pink in the center as I requested, and my wife had a Ribeye, which could have been a little more rare for her taste, but was still very good. We also had the oysters, drinks, and a bottle of wine. For a place that is just getting on their feet, it was a good experience, and we will definitely go back. read more

So glad to have a new steak house in Cornelius! Heads up .... Everything is a la carte. My steak was amazing. Very happy with the cut. Nice and hot. DELISH!! Can't say that about my 2 sides. Very very tasty but not hot at all. At $5 + a pop ..... Hubby got the meatloaf. Very different recipe. Tasty but not his favorite. Our waiter Carter was super friendly, attentive, and nice. If 3.5 stars was an option, I'd go with that. PP is a decent restaurant but you can do much better at the same price point in Charlotte, and several others around Cornelius. I had the Smoked Old Fashioned, it was good. My wife had an ordinary Macallan 12 neat, they charged $30 for it, laughable - more than I've seen in NYC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco etc. We had the Shrimp & Avocado appetizer, tasty. I had the 8 oz filet with rice/corn risotto - well cooked but just an OK piece of beef. My bride had the cedar plank mahi-mahi, again well cooked but an ordinary piece of fish with dark spots she had to cut away (Bonefish has better). We shared a crème brûlée for dessert, well executed. Service was a little slow, but might be our fault for choosing a table upstairs. And finally, though they say the decor is new, it looks exactly the same as it was as Alton's. So a decent restaurant but not up to the prices they're charging. read more
