They power washed my house that Wednesday. They told me would be back the following Monday. (That's an old contractor's trick). They resumed the following Monday. They were here all the following week which was not the plan. 1. They cut a wire to my Bay Alarm security system and damaged several connection points. 2. They broke the transformer to my landscape lighting. 3. They painted over the cobwebs in my breezeway. 4. They left my 50 ft. garden hose in knots. 5. They broke the latch on my front gate. I hadn't realized all the damage done but Harold took $200 off my bill. I won't recommend this company.

He seemed honest and genuine. Jonathan and his brother Kevin did an incredible job on my pretty bad shape sidings. Even though the job was only one side of the house but the sidings needed a lot of TLC so it took them an extra day to finish the job. They came on time and cleaned up each day after they finished. When I asked Jonathan a favor to paint a small area and removed the security camera cable because I don't have a ladder to reach high, he gladly offered to help me. I highly recommend Across the Bay Painting. I would definitely call Jonathan again on my next projects. Thanks Jonathan and Kevin!

In 2006 I had to put my exterior job on hold for medical reasons. He patiently sampled the colors I thought I liked. I was able to select the best color combination and when ready resumed completion that still looks good. Billinger has done interior and exterior painting since then. I've emailed, I've called and called again and nothing - no response what-so-ever? I'll change my rating if/when I hear back but for now, this is pretty lousy service for a "would be" client. ***Update - After a fourth phone call, I finally reached the owner - Bob. He said that he "assumed I needed work right away and since he's busy, he decided not to call me back." I don't need someone right away, this was not a correct assumption. Upon further discussion he basically told me my house/job was too small for his "high end" company. He also started asking about extra projects to make my job "worth it" and when I told him I was a DIYer and could do those projects myself he sald "well I don't know how handy you are honey. You should take the other quote you've gotten." Based on this dialogue alone, I would not recommend this company. Unprofessional demeanor, unwilling to respond or refer me to someone who would handle a "smaller job," and extremely assumptive about the scope of work without knowing me, or speaking to me beforehand. A year ago, in this economy - I ASSUME he would have loved the work and the referrals I could bring.

His quote was straight forward. I had a few quote from a few other painters. One of which charged by hour but could not confirm how many hours he would nee. Another charged by sq.ft but after going into details there were surcharges and other charges for changing colors. Robert quote came in half but much more reasonable than those guys. He also could get started within a couple days. On the painting day, everything went smoothly. He came with another man on time. Both of them moved some heavy furnitures (others were telling us to move by ourselves), taped and protected the floor. They did not skip another coat (even though it was not needed) to finish the job early. At the end, they made sure all furnitures were back in place. I would hire them again.

Jorge painted the doors...horribly, see pictures. We complained to Ray that Jorge left the doors in a horrible finish. Ray apologized and said he could have Jorge come back and fix them, I said no, if this is how he left them I don't want Jorge "fixing" them. His other solution was his other painter coming back from Mexico mid February. Well we still haven't heard from Ray about fixing the doors. He has completely taken our money and ghosted us now, not returning voicemails or texts from my husband and I. I feel very taken advantage of. Also we finally found the name of this company matching his name and phone number bc he told us the name of his company was J R painting, which I couldn't find on the internet anywhere. Well here is your one star review Ray. I'd give you ZERO stars if I could. Do not use him as your painting company!

We needed a room painted quickly, to accommodate our busy schedule. I found John right here on Yelp. Unlike a couple of his colleagues, who were rude and dismissive on the phone (and one of whom has yet to call me back, a week later), John answered the phone promptly (on a Sunday!), addressed all of my questions, asked all of the right ones, and waited patiently while I consulted with my wife on his quote. He came the very next day, and completed the job in less than a day and a half. John provided expert input in choosing a shade and finish (who knew that white paint is not just white paint, or the secret to choosing the right white?). He showed up equipped with a copy of his license, insurance and bonding papers. Although he had to move some furniture and other items to do the job (and did so single-handedly and without complaint), he was able to get the job done with absolutely no disruption to the household. And it is truly the best paint job I have ever seen. John's business is called East Bay PAINTER, but it turns out that's not all he does. While he was working, I asked whether he happened to know a good handyman who could remove an old decaying wall cabinet and install shelves. John was happy to do the job, came back a couple of days later, and -- once again -- did a fast, efficient, reliable and professional job, even hauling away the old cabinet. Although he does not sell himself cheap (nor should he -- he is a topflight professional artist and craftsman!), John's prices are reasonable and competitive. John, you have certainly not seen the last of me!

I think he may have even saved our marriage! After the Direct TV installer left a mess, we needed it fixed. We hired a handyman off of Craiglist, which I do not recommend. He assured us he could clean up and make the house look like nothing had happened. He lied. When he was done, there were noticeable spots on the house, and we were out $200. I came to Yelp to find a painter to fix the mess this handyman had left behind. Well, I should have come to Yelp in the first place . . . I called John at East Bay Painter and told him our situation. He came by our house in an hour and gave us his assessment of what needed to be done and quoted a price cheaper than the stupid handyman from Craigslist. Within a week from his visit, he got a sample from the house to get the matching paint, painted the messed up area for an amazingly affordable price. I never dreamed that I could afford such a professional and pleasant painter for such a reasonable price! It was a relatively small job, but he treated us with the same level of respect as if we were having him paint the whole house. If you need anything painted, give John a call. I intend to work with him for as long as he paints! Thank you, John the super painter!
