I've been seeing Michael Sean Hooker, MD since 2019 and ongoing. Typically, I fire physicians (did…read moreyou know that you could do that?) within a year. I give everyone a fair shot at finding their footing with me and my health issues. After a while, I get tired of talking and not seeing results so I bounce them and find someone new. With that being said, Dr. Hooker is the best thing since sliced bread as the old saying goes. He listens. He cares. He truly loves his patients and his job. No cranky days. No bad attitudes. And most of his staff (because there always has to be that ONE wherever you go) are a true pleasure. He even shoots the breeze with you while he's giving you injections so it's more tolerable. A real doll and a great physician. I wouldn't trade him or his staff for the world!

A few months after my surgery I kept complaining of pain and he told me he didn't do surgery. My arm had minimal pain before surgery that elevated to pain everyday all day. He told me that I would have to deal with it for the rest of my life because he wasn't touching me again. I constantly complained and he finally got another MRI. It showed that I somehow gotten a bicep tendon tear and he refused to repair it. I had to wait almost a year before another surgeon could fix it. Due to the prolong wait of Dr. Hooker I can't lift over 15lbs which I could before his surgery. I was out of work for four months for a surgery claimed he needed to do that he lied about. He will misdiagnose you a lot. I had over 10 for one arm. Go figure.

This is a doctor that unfortunately cares a lot about his billing and little about your health…read more I have a fairly serious medical condition and came to Dr Castaneda for treatment. I had just gotten back on health insurance after a year or two without, so wanted to do a full check-up and get up to date with all my health issues. After trouble getting in the door for an in-take, I was told any exams would be six months or more down the road. But in fact, I never heard from the doctor's office again for anything related to my health or appointments. I did however hear from his staff many months after my intake, indicating that my insurance did not cover all their expenses (for an intake mind you - where they weigh you, take your temperature and ask about your medical history) and that I needed to pay more, immediately. I did not understand how this could be, particularly months down the road, but was told in a threatening tone that if I did not pay right away, they would drop me as a patient. Normally, I would wait for my next paycheck to make sure I had the balance, but with the threat in mind, I tried to make my current paycheck stretch and unfortunately fell a little a short. When that check did not clear, I subsequently received numerous aggressive phone calls, demanding immediate payment by money order and at one time outright accusing me of having a false mailing address (which is not the case). My journey with this doctor came to an end when I went to pick up my monthly prescriptions at CVS and was told that the doctor had just called and cancelled all refills and that I was to no longer be his patient. This is how I was informed - by a pharmacist while simultaneously being put into a position under which I would no longer have access to much needed medication. I have moved around a lot and from big city to small town, have always had doctors who helped me with transitions - often writing prescriptions after I've moved on and would no longer be patronizing their practices. I've even had doctors provide prescription advances, sample medication, and referrals to doctors in my new area in order to make sure I stayed consistent with my health requirements. Those doctors cared whether I lived or died, and about my overall well being. Dr. Casteneda, on the other hand, seems to care only about his billing regime.

Today I had finally had enough. A "nurse" by the name of T**a. I've told her repeatedly NOT to call…read moreand leave me the, "Hi Terry this is T**a from Allison Pusey's office. Give me a call when you get this message" type of message on my voicemail! One day she and I called one another a total of SIX times before I actually got the information she was trying to relay! And I only got it then because of the voicemail I left her the same message that I left today. STOP PLAYING PHONE TAG. It's in writing and has been given to her verbally that it was not only acceptable but preferable for her to just say what needs to be said and then I can move forward from there. I'm not of a generation that walks around with a cell phone strapped to their hip. Plus I could be on the other line or like today, driving. We're in a state where it's illegal to be on your phone while you're driving. Plus I had back-to-back appointments all morning long. I'm NOT going to pull off the road to write stuff down when she can JUST LEAVE IT ON THE FREAKIN VOICEMAIL. I told HER voicemail THIS MORNING to LEAVE THE INFORMATION ON MY VOICEMAIL if I didn't pick up and if I didn't get the info by the close of business today I was firing Allison and getting a new Primary. They closed 23 minutes ago. I still don't know WHY she was calling. I know I had blood work done this last Friday so I can only ASSUME she was calling with test results. First thing tomorrow morning I'm calling the Hospital Administration because this is bullsh-t. Which I did and the clinic supervisor got involved. Things were okay for a while before there were MORE issues with "Primary Care" which included running labs for several different things since I had a myriad of symptoms. One of the things tested was my vitamin B levels. Neither the Primary nor the "Endocrinologist" (more about her in a review of her very own!) nor the clinic supervisor caught that my B was nearly double the high end of normal! My dermatologist who is an actual doctor and NOT affiliated with AGH brought it to my attention! W T A F Thank God I am no longer a patient of AGH. I have an actual doctor now and not a million and one nurses, and no, they are NOT the same as doctors AGH so stop spewing that cr@p. My DOCTOR told me that it is unnecessary to have a million and one specialists; and that a competent doctor can manage all of my healthcare needs! Imagine that! Not having to have a million and one appts with clearly incapable medical personnel! Wow. No $20-$30 co-pays PER VISIT. No overbilling the insurance co for all of these unnecessary visits when ONE PRIMARY can manage it all!!! No wonder AGH is about to be swallowed whole and "merging" with some unnamed entity. It may as well be that other big-name healthcare system because AGH has become just as bad as they are. I switched from this other HCS to AGH over 5 years ago. Back then AGH was always on point, didn't have an attitude about e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, and was willing to listen to patients. Now everyone walks around with their @$$ on their shoulders and will cop to n-o-t-h-i-n-g. The greatest strength someone can have is knowing their greatest weakness. Too bad this once great institution is now circling the bowl. Hopefully, Paul Sarbanes' office is looking into these "healthcare systems" out here on the Shore because yes I have been emailing with his office. What passes for healthcare around here is beyond ridiculous.
