Toward the end of the evening, security approached me and said someone had accused me and my friend of "passing something." I was confused and asked for clarification, but no clear explanation or evidence was provided, and we were immediately told to leave. Not wanting to create conflict, we cooperated immediately. However, while retrieving our cars from valet, we were approached by multiple Newport Beach police officers, publicly detained, searched, and questioned on suspicion of narcotics-related activity. I was instructed to put my arms behind my back, empty my pockets, and submit to questioning. This was deeply humiliating and embarrassing. No wrongdoing was found, because there was nothing to find. Despite no evidence being discovered, we were informed that we were no longer welcome and had been trespassed from the property. What made this even more upsetting was the hotel's response afterward. For approximately two weeks, I made repeated efforts to contact hotel security and management to better understand what occurred and request a proper review of the situation. My calls were repeatedly avoided, and I was eventually unable to reach them. When I finally spoke with a supervisor, I was told they could not fully corroborate what happened, yet I was still told not to return based on unspecified concerns about my "behavior." Any hospitality establishment, particularly one involving accusations serious enough to escalate to Newport Beach police involvement, should have proper documentation, incident reporting, and accountability. If a formal complaint or report was created regarding the accusation against me, it was never shared with me despite my repeated attempts to seek answers. As a long-time guest, this was incredibly disappointing. Being publicly accused, searched, and removed without any evidence or meaningful explanation was one of the most uncomfortable hospitality experiences I've had. As an Asian guest, the experience also left me personally questioning whether unfair assumptions may have influenced how the situation was handled. I have since heard concerns from others suggesting they, too, felt unfairly treated by security, which only adds to my concerns about how accusations may be handled at this property. In my personal experience, the lounge environment itself has also included behavior that made me uncomfortable on prior visits, including unwanted propositions, which made the contrast in how I was treated feel even more troubling. I would give it below one star for the Unprofessional Staff and Unwelcoming Atmosphere I recently had a highly disappointing experience at Pendry that left me feeling frustrated and disrespected. Despite making the effort to drive all the way to the hotel and being excited to spend time with friends at the bar, my evening was completely ruined by the unprofessional behavior of the staff, particularly a manager named Christian. Rude!!!! He needs a course in hospitality. Upon arriving back at the hotel after leaving briefly, I was shocked to find all entrances blocked by ropes. Instead of being greeted with a warm welcome, I was met with hostility and rudeness from Christian. His demeanor was utterly unwelcoming and he treated me as if I were some sort of threat to the place. What truly infuriated me was Christian's refusal to let me speak to my friends who were already inside the rope area. He wouldn't let me cross the rope to give them a hug. Despite my attempts to reason with him and explain the situation, he callously dismissed my concerns and insisted that I wait in a long line all by myself. It was incredibly frustrating to see that my seat was still available next to my friends, yet Christian refused to let me join them. What made matters worse was the lack of communication regarding this sudden change in entry protocol. No one bothered to inform me about the new restrictions or the need to wait in line separately. This lack of transparency only added to my confusion and frustration, ultimately resulting in me having to order an Uber and leave the premises. As a result of this terrible experience, I will never return to Pendry. It is disheartening to see a place that prides itself on providing a pleasant experience fail so spectacularly in treating its guests with respect and courtesy. My main contact was Breanna Siroonian, and from start to finish she was unbelievably disorganized, unreliable, and unprofessional. Throughout the entire planning process, I constantly had to catch her mistakes myself. She sent the wrong contract TWICE, missed scheduled in-person meetings, and then disappeared entirely on the actual day of the event without ever communicating that she wouldn't even be there. Two days before the shower, I informed her about last-minute guest cancellations. She confirmed multiple times by phone and email that the changes were updated. Of course, when I arrived 30 minutes before guests were set to arrive, the team still had the wrong guest list. And that was only the beginning. I walked into a completely unfinished setup. No proper dishes. No utensils. No glasses on the tables. No guest name cards. Nothing looked remotely ready for an event at a supposed 5-star hotel. After months of planning, endless emails, calls, and three in-person meetings, it was shocking and honestly humiliating to walk into that level of chaos. The final insult was my custom cake, a cake I spent months designing for this special day being ruined because the hotel "mistakenly" cut it before it was ever displayed. This entire experience was stressful, embarrassing, and deeply disappointing. The lack of professionalism and communication from Breanna Siroonian and the Pendry Newport Beach was unacceptable at every level. My experience at the Pendry Newport Beach was extremely disappointing and even unsafe. I stayed in the top-floor suite, room 1624, and noticed the service getting worse each day of my stay. The low point came when I ordered the tuna tartare at the bar -- several of the chips served with it were overcooked and rock hard. When I bit into one, it broke my tooth in half, and I even swallowed the broken piece. This happened around 5:20 p.m., and it should be visible on the bar's cameras. Later that evening, I had to call EMTs to my room just to make sure I was okay and could sleep safely. When I reported everything to the manager, they seemed completely unconcerned, even implying I wasn't being truthful. No apology, no assistance, no compensation -- just complete disregard. Accidents can happen, but the lack of care and accountability here was unacceptable. For a hotel that presents itself as luxury, the management's apathy and poor service were shocking. I hope they take this seriously so no other guest experiences something like this. read more

After 9 PM, they enforce a slow entry policy, allowing only four people every 10 minutes regardless of how busy it is. Our group of 10, celebrating an anniversary, waited nearly an hour. The bar manager appears to prioritize admitting attractive women while making others wait. He behaves as though he owns the place, offering free drinks to these patrons while charging others around $25 for a vodka or tequila drink. Frustrated, we eventually left for a nearby bar and restaurant where the experience was more enjoyable and affordable. Overall, The Pendrey's overpriced drinks and management's questionable priorities make it hard to recommend. Unless you're comfortable paying excessively for drinks, enduring unnecessary waits, or opting for overpriced bottle service just to secure a seat, exploring other options might be wise. read more

The Hotel Pendry is nothing short of amazing! It may not be on the beach, but this is a true luxury hotel with a welcoming atmosphere. I hadn't been here in years, and I was blown away by the stunning facelift--it looks better than ever. Every detail is perfect, and you can tell the staff takes pride in their jobs. The value for the rooms is pretty reasonable considering the high-end experience, and the location is unbeatable--just a short walk to Fashion Island Mall. One experience that really stood out was at the valet. I parked for about 5 minutes, and the attendant was so understanding that he handed my keys back and said I didn't need to pay for such a short stay, even though it's normally $15 for an hour. It's little gestures like that which make this place exceptional. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in California to make up for lost time! Five stars all the way! read more

I was planning to book a stay here until I saw that they charge $65 per day for parking in addition to a $50 resort fee. The parking should be included in the resort fee. I am so tired of hotels finding every which way they can nickel and dime you from every angle. It's out of control. I find these to be incredibly inhospitable business practices for what USED TO BE CALLED THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY. They should call it the price gouging inhospitable industry. But everyone else seems to be happy to bend over and acquiesce to the price gouging so I guess it will continue. Why not charge $200 per night for parking and $100 for the resort fee? I'm sure your shareholders will be delighted! I swear we have thieves and criminals in charge of absolutely everything right now. I hope this business fails and changes hands yet again. read more

awful ! there were people who worked there who were on drugs. The staff work for bribes and it's very corrupt - be very aware - don't come here ..we were harassed and management did nothing. It's a disgrace and the staff are arrogant, bullies and dismissive. We booked a hotel here and the accommodations were a disgrace. Corporate needs to be informed by this. Treat all customers a whole lot better I spent three hundred here for dinner. 44 for a glass of wine. Came to see a friend who had a seat at the set bar and was turned away. They need to treat people who patron their place remarry with a lot more respect. Skip this place and give your hard earned money to some place else and also don't order a Cabernet without looking at prices. The bartender gave me a forty dollar one instead of 23. lol. Not Impressed! I was staying in the hotel for a weekend staycation and it was a disaster. While the rooms are nice and clean the staff is undertrained and having trouble keeping up with the expectations. Don't even bother with the main restaurant. They hired a bunch of half naked young girls with no knowledge and finesse. I wanted to spend a weekend in Newport and not in Vegas.
