Most are seasonal. Here in-between summer and leaf peeping time, so only a very few staying here. If you have never been here before, ask for golf cart service to your site. The site map roads do not match up to the actual roads and the campground is much smaller than depicted. We got lost. Need road signs. Also the road to the trash on the map has a gate at the end. To reach the trash, you need to drive past the office towards the park entrance to reach it. Would not recommend for large rigs due to the many trees. The roads are for one vehicle only and there are no oneways. Haven't used any facilities. read more

We were really disappointed to arrive at Pemi River Campground after a 1.5-hour drive only to find out that the river levels were too low for tubing. It would've been really helpful if there had been an online update or notice ahead of time, we definitely would've planned differently. Thankfully, we didn't have reservations, so we bought some tubes there and found another spot to float. Hoping for rain soon so the Pemi fills up again, it's such a great place when conditions are right! read more

Love this place! So much fun and then quiet and clean all at the same time. Highly recommend this place. This campground is the best by far. They offer river trips where you float back to the beach or your site. So cool! Beautiful clean pristine river. The bathrooms......wow! Cleanest I've ever seen. Thank you! Pemi River Campground - Floating on the Pemi! - Campgrounds Near Me - Thornton, New Hampshire

There were issues with our card number when we went to book our reservation. We were not notified by anyone working at the campground and when we arrived we were turned away and told we should have known that our reservation was not booked. The woman that we spoke to was very nasty about our situation and told us it was not her job to tell us that there were issues regarding our reservation. I'm curious to know what her job is running the front desk at a campground is if it's not to call patrons when there are issues with their trip. Overall I will not be returning to this campsite due to the negligence of the staff. read more

Located right off the freeway, nestled in the relaxed woods. We have a 37' class A and was not sure how we would fit but the sites are spacious and you're not extremely close to your neighbor. The pemi river is a few mins of a walk from your site. There is a nice kids play area and a store on site. read more

It hurts my heart to leave this review but there's just no way I can give them a good one. We went here 6 years ago and had an amazing time so we tried again, because it was really nice.... so here's my review. We rented a camping site and a cabin. Our camping site was literally filled with rocks.... like small pebble rocks that if you put your tent on could leave a rip and definitely hurt your back if you're sleeping on them. There were two spots without rocks.... and I'll add the pictures of the two spots. They both flooded. In fact, between our camping spot and the cabin it flooded. I could have basically swam across it, or wade through it. It went to my knees. There was a huge pile of rock/gravel so maybe they knew it was happening but still wanted my $40? Anyway it wasn't fun. At the front desk is a beautiful lady but she's wasn't super friendly. I did make her smile. I enjoy when you check in, someone actually wants to check you in. I get it, the people!!! But Customer Service is a thing! We saw "security" yelling at a couple kids that were on the beach. It was raining and they were freezing cold, the guy didn't seem to care. Screamed at them to "get off his beach!" Pretty sad actually any human can treat anyone like that. Ridiculous as it was raining and noone was even on the beach. We were picking up our tubes off the beach, as we bought tubes and drove a few miles down the road, parked and launched ourselves. They charge $8 per tube for the ride. It's $10 to buy a tube so we just doubled the cars and drove ourselves. So to the cabin, the cabin literally had dried throw up on the ground. When we spoke to the front they said it was "wax" and not throw up. She didn't want to "mess up" the finish on the floor. The "finish" is plywood! It's legit plywood. The floor hasn't seen a clean mop in a while and definitely doesn't have a finish. The walls were beautiful, not the floor. The beds in the cabin have those super small thin mats on them. Bring an air mattress if you're gonna use the cabin cause wow! It's not fun on your back. When we came here 6 years ago it was more tenting then regular campers. Now it's all campers. That's the only reason I wanted to give this a good review. We met so many wonderful "regular" campers. Genuine beautiful people. They made our camping trip so much better. To those people who offered a roof to us in the rain "Thank you!" To the same people who offered us a place to cook out of the rain. Thank you! That is what our world is about. read more

Big Fan of this place!! The river ride is my favorite on a nice hot day. They have a bus that will drop you off a mile or so up the road, walk through a small path and put your tube in. Depending on high the river is it takes anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours to get back to the campground. Most enjoyable with a floating cooler. read more

GO TO BRANCH BROOK CAMPGROUND INSTEAD. This is the first review I've ever written in my life because I've never had such a bad experience anywhere. The owner is out of his mind. And he fully encouraged me to write this review so here it is! We go camping in New England about five times a summer and live in New Hampshire. We love to try out new places and have always had exceptional experiences. It was such a frustrating experience I don't even want to waste my time writing this but I feel like I have to.This is the type of guy that yells at you for collecting sticks for kindling. I feel bad for the staff because they seemed nice and you could tell they weren't treated like they should be by their boss. We went midweek so there were about three empty campsites on both sides, which was beautiful and private, other the owner riding by on his golf cart and his sedan harassing us. It was bizarre behavior. Don't bother camping here at all but definitely not on the weekends because the campsites are packed in like sardines and we were told it is always full. We stayed less than 24 hours, packed up all of our things and moved to Branch Brook Campground. The sites, the river, and the ambiance are ten times better. We have also camped at Country Bumpkins Campground in previous years located in Lincoln which is right on a smaller river and the staff was kind and accommodating. I guess I feel bad for how miserable the owner of Pemi River Campground seems. I'm a waitress so I am able to calmly deal with jerks all day but when I'm a paying customer I would like to be treated with respect and a level-headed approach. read more

Stayed here in early August during a heat-wave. River was too low for tubing but much appreciated for swimming. Site were large and easy to pull through. Great sites on the river but prefer the full hook-ups. Most the staff was pleasant and helpful. another camper even offered me a ride to my site when I was carrying my propane tank. If there was one con it was the overzealous Security guard. Had a screaming fit after he cut off my son in his golf-cart for driving too fast. How fast could he be going to get cut-off by a 10mph cart? Turned what should have been a simple warning to a major affair. read more

Staff are very nice and friendly, the location is nice, (apart from the highway noises, which you get used to after a few hours) wood in the store is very dry, and, although the owner is strict of the rules, it is only because he wants to enforce them, seeing how they are broken so often. Was on her phone when visitors were in there trying to buy ice or firewood. And their firewood at the store was terrible! $5 for a bundle that would chat up but not burn. Come on. The ~2.5 star overall review is appropriate because Pemi River could be a good or bad choice depending on who you are. Read the reviews for this place to decide if it's a good option for you. I wish I had done so. The owner is a piece of work who kicked us out of the campground for having 3 cars parked at the site at 10 AM on a Tuesday in June, which means there were no other campers for at least two sites on either side of us that day. It felt strange to be treated so rudely as a paying customer, so I finally read the reviews, and I get it now. The owner is just a hardo for the rules (one caveat: the rules aren't posted online, so if you happen to come in later than the rest of your group because of work as I did, thus missing the main office experience, you won't know these stringently, and, after reading Yelp reviews, famously, enforced rules), so if you're cool with that, you'll have a good time. He does a good job keeping the place in order for the customers with mobile campers, but if you are merely a tenter passing through for a couple of nights, mind your Ps and Qs or find another campground that doesn't have a DB owner and a bunch of long-term renter narcs that are up your caboose until they find a reason to kick you out. read more

This is the worst, and most mismanaged place I've ever tried to camp! We arrived Friday from Massachusetts, after work, after having previously sending a family member near by to speak with the employees in the office, and paid for three camp sites. There were 10 of us camping. A few of us arrived around 6pm, and the others were on their way. The very first thing the man checking us said to my husband was, "I might look old but I'm not afraid to kick you right out of here." Okay, so we over looked the strange greeting, and paid for our sites. We informed the man in charge that we obviously had others on the way and we were reserving three sites. That was okay. Once the rest of our friends and family began arriving he drive up to our sites in a golf cart to remind us that he would kick us out if he needed. It's now about 730. We said okay and that we understood the rules and there wouldn't be a problem. We explained our one friend was going up the street to his BranchBrook camp site to grab wood and he'd be returning soon, and that our last friend was still on his way. We were told we could get wood but our last arriving guest was not welcome. The sites we paid for would cover 12 guests, we had 9 at this point, and our friends was more than half way to Campton from south of Boston. We bit our tongues and told our friends to turn around and we'd figure it out in the morning. One of us left to pick up wood and the rest of us set up the three camp sites. As soon as out friend returned with wood and we were all set up the same man who gave us permission to get wood snuck up on a golf cart and turned his lights on once he got to our site. We had just settled and were ready to start eating when he started yelling at us to pack up and get out. It was 9 pm. We were not being loud...we hadn't even had the opportunity to be at this point. In the end we ended up going to BranchBrook about two miles up the street. We always go to Branchbrook and have never had any trouble in ten years now. We only tried Pemi because Branchbrook wasn't technically open yet on the first of May. We packed up and went to Branchbrook, explained to the man who generally runs out what.had happened at Pemi, and we stayed there for the weekend. It was 10xs the fun, no stress, and significantly cheaper! In the end thanks for forcing us to leave in the dark. Branchbrook is a site I want to put my money into. Not a site who greeted us by telling us they'd kick us out based on us looking young (we're 25) and then kicking us out for no reason that I've been able to detect. I strongly recommend you don't put yourself in the hands of this campsite. I strongly recommend Branchbrook. read more

I stopped by this place just to ask the security guy for directions to a lake. I had already paid for the canoe rentals and just needed to find the lake. I asked this dude where this lake was. He said he has canoe rentals at this place. I said I'm sorry but I already rented somewhere else. Then he gets super rude like "I dont know where that place is." Do not step foot on this property! I presume the man in golf cart is the owner and he is a complete lunatic! We had several people in our party rent tubes from this place and parked our 3 cars there. Other friends brought there own tubes and parked up the river. When we returned after tubing he followed us from the river to our cars in his golf cart and started screaming at us to get off his property and accusing us of not paying and parking there. After I explained that we had actually paid $150 for tube rentals and we were just waiting for the cars to pick us up he just kept screaming at the group of children that was with me. I have stayed at the Pemi River campground once before and really enjoyed it but oh boy this trip was very different. The owner I presume that rides around in his golf cart is very rude . He sold us wet wood and when I told him about it he acknowledged and said it must be a bad batch but continued to sell it to new campers coming in. He rides around the camp sites and yells and screams at people . My boyfriend and I were quietly talking after putting kids to bed just the two of us relaxing by a fire , not partying , no loud music and we got screamed at to be quiet . Our puppy barked in the morning probably around 10 a.m. while We were cooking breakfast because he's a puppy and wants us to throw him a little snack and along comes Mr macho man in his golf cart yelling at us to shut our dog up or basically get out .Honestly if I did not have children that were looking forward to enjoying the river and our camping trip I would have packed everything up and left . I will not be returning to the Pemi campground ever again and will make sure to tell others not to waste their money . read more

Wow..interestingly reviews so here is mine. We are tenters and have been going there for several years. Personally, we have found the owners pretty nice but firm in his rules ie 10pm quiet time. BUT this is why there are rules so ppl know what to expect and should not be surprised when they are enforced. Ok off stool and my comments as a reviewer not relative. Super nice bathrooms and showers. FREE not coin-operated Reasonable rental rates and shuttles. On time! Store has items usually needed. DRY wood. Can get a large bun delivered which saves a lot of walking down and carrying bundles back.. Tent sites on river with water and electricity. GREAT. Free entertainment ..watching crazy bridge jumpers. Right off Rt 93 so great access . Not too far from Lincoln NH ..a cool town. So I give this campground lots of positives. Behave as you should and be respectful of others ...no problems! read more

I wish I could give this place less than one star to be honest. When our group showed up the staff was very nice but they dropped us off on the wrong end of the river and we had to jump off our tubes more than 10 times and walk on sharp rocks. Finally we walked off the river after 6 hours of "floating" and called them to pick us up. After negotiating with one of the staff we ended up getting our $120 back. DO NOT CAMP HERE. I ignored the reviews I went anyway, I regret it immensely. My reservation is until Tuesday. I'm home writing this review on Monday night because it's that bad. We got yelled at by the confrontational, aggressive man on the golf cart who claimed we were driving 40mph on the bumpy dirt road and could have ran over his grandchildren. I can guarantee I was going no more than 10mph and yielded to every car, bike, and pedestrian I saw. He whips around in his golf cart intimidating the campers. He drove his golf cart into our site, pinning me in between my car and his golf cart. He got in my face to yell at me. No regard to my space and he wasn't wearing a mask. He said "if I have to talk to you one more time, you're kicked out." I said "Don't worry, sir, you won't have to talk to us." To which he responded, "it'd be better if you left tonight, you're lucky I don't kick you out now for responding back to me." As two young (early 20s) women we were very intimated by this. We found this confrontation ironic as none of the other rules were enforced. Our neighbors on both sides were blasting music and partying until 1am. There was a random unleashed large dog who kept coming into our campsite and many others. There were multiple loud barking dogs who started yapping early in the morning and didn't stop until the night. The campsite was littered with cigaret butts and an old pacifier. Up until the encounter with grumpy golf cart man, we had a blast. We loved tubing on the river, the electricity and water on the site worked well. However, grumpy golf cart man's attitude is similar to the state of the bathrooms, nasty and in need of some fixing. I read the reviews before going, I wrongly assumed the golf cart man wouldn't yell at us. We aren't loud. We aren't rude. We clean up after ourselves. We were wrong. It doesn't matter to him. Take my advice and find a different campsite. Do NOT go to Pemi River Campground. read more

I've camped many places around New Hampshire. Figured I'd try this place. What a disappointment. Never would come back. Aside from a local hangout who hangs out in the main office using slurs and derogatory terms openly as if he doesn't care who he offends such as calling people fags, the owner drives around on a golf cart at night without headlights and is very rude. A group of 4 of us were sitting around quietly with the radio very low at 9:59 pm. Quiet hours are 10 pm. The owner drove up and yelled turn off the radio. As we looked to see who yelled since he was on his golf cart with no headlights, he yelled, "off" again rudely. Other sites around us were actually much louder and he didn't seem to care. This place is a joke. Very rude people and to add to it, the site layouts don't make sense at all. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. You will regret it read more

Shame I can't choose to leave zero stars. As far as this camping trip goes, they don't even deserve the one star. Fortunately while camping here, we met a nice couple on the site beside us, who like us, wanted to try a new campground. BIG MISTAKE. Luckily they told us about a great campground in Wentworth, NH. We'll be looking into that campground in the future. Sadly, we didn't read these reviews before our stay, because they are all spot on. Way too many rules, way too close to the highway. I was inquiring about their dog policy, since their website says friendly, family pets are welcome, but with breed restrictions. I couldn't find any other information online, so I was forced to call to ask. I asked the man on the phone if they allowed dogs. He smugly laughed and told me (slightly happily) that they "do not allow aggressive breeds such as pitbulls, Rottweilers, or dobermans on their campground". I pursued and he says their insurance does not cover these dogs. This is understandable because many insurance companies discriminate against misunderstood dog breeds, but I could have totally done without the smug, sarcastic attitude. Personally, he seemed like an aggressive person. I would have really preferred they just include this information on their website. Maybe they wouldn't have lost a customer. So if anyone cares what dogs you can't bring, here you go. read more

I hate to pull the race card but My "White" friend ( owner, Fat Guy probably thought he was a white Hispanic like the rest of us) asked if we cut our own firewood (valid question since it's our first visit here & he is a boy scout coincidentally ), the owner aka "Fat Guy" responds if you cut the wood,I'll cut your neck" . I kid you not. I had 4 other people there to witness it. I was stunned but thought maybe he meant it jokingly ..Nope. Another incident was when we went back to the desk for more firewood, the owner was talking to us and an older lady who also works there came from the back and started saying "well if you guys wouldn't have stolen things...", I looked at her and said we haven't stolen anything,we are here for firewood". She said " oh I must be confusing you with a different group". Really?!?!? No apology btw. Is this how people do business in this campground,accuse your guest of stealing and threatening to cut off our necks?!? Another reason I was so upset was because the "Fat Guy" would only circle our campground in his golf cart most of the night while we sat in silence so not to be threatened to be kicked out again and escorted out by state police because we were warned once before the 10pm curfew. WORSE CAMPING TRIP EVER! These aren't the only stories I have from this horrible stay. LISTEN if you want to have a KKK meeting, this is the place ...so call and reserve your KKK gathering now!! I Give this place ZERO STARS and Massachusetts residents beware!! I won't stand to be discriminated against because of where I live or my nationality. read more

We loved our camping trip. We stayed in a very spacious and grassy area near the road which didn't bother us because we live in the city. We stayed Labor day weekend so the 1st night it was pretty chilly. The people we interacted with from "security", to the granddaughter, the grandfather, and the personnel that took us up to the 5 mile drop off with kayaks were extremely nice and very helpful. We rented a canoe and 3 kayaks and coming down the river was so much fun. It took us 6 hours stopping in between to enjoy the view, swim, and have some snacks. We were warned the river was low this time of year and we would have to walk some parts and that was even more fun!!!! The only reason I don't give this campground a 5 star rating it's because of the bathroom facilities. Near our site there was 4 toilets used for both men and women (and we know most men can't aim!!!) and 3 showers that run cold after 2 showers. There were people waiting to take a shower both times I went to use it. One time someone used the toilet and took their sweet time smoking and all. Besides this instance where there were cigarette ashes on the floor, the bathrooms and showers were maintained reasonably cleaned. I highly recommend this campground and will definitely return next summer! read more

If you don't read the rest--my number one complaint--10pm Quiet Time on Saturday night is unreasonable. If you violate this, you will be screamed at, you will not be warned, you will be threatened. I spent this weekend at Pemi River Campground, prior to that I hadn't been there since the late 1990's. Back then, I had camped there a good amount with my friends-we were in our twenties and liked to go for river trip and tubing aspect of it. The campground was bare bones, somewhat run down, affordable and the customer service was poor. It had been run by one person back then and it was no wonder she could seem cranky. She'd rent you a tube or kayak, throw it in the back of her truck and drive you up the river herself. I returned with some friends this weekend, we are now in our 40's, along with children, mostly older teenagers. Once again, we went for the tubing and river aspect. Some things have changed for the better. They are under new ownership. They have what appears to be a staff of multiple people, who are friendly and courteous. They have a basic store where you can get coffee and odds and ends, including water shoes for the river. They now have mini golf, the playground is spruced up. They now have seasonal campers there. The place once seemed dead and now seems alive! I don't think they offer any organized activities, in many other ways, it is still extremely basic. What's cool is that they now have vans with canoe/kayak/tube trailers and many drivers for them. So everyone who wants to take a river trip gets transported in a timely manner and they even drive around and pick you up at your campsite for this. That's a nice feature. We were close to the rear bathroom, nearest the beach, and although I saw a man go into to clean it, he did not wash the floors. They smelled extremely foul and of urine at all times. PU! I had no major complaints until Saturday night. It was one of my friends daughters 18th birthday party. We were all sitting around a campfire, adults and children alike playing guitar and singing. I'm sure we were not quiet, and neither was the rest of the campground. Out of the darkness, we start getting SCREAMED AT to "SHUT UP, OR LEAVE NOW". He said more than that, but his approach was the rudest I've ever encountered. It was 10:15pm on a Saturday night, no one was watching a clock. There was a loud blues festival going on right down the street. Yes, we were breaking a rule. I understand that they can set whatever rules they desire. Their approach and customer service skills in that situation were the worst I've encountered at a campground in that moment. No one in our group was out of hand, or drunk, reckless or careless. We were singing around a fire, with kids. We stopped playing, singing and quieted down. Let's be realistic about something here. People who like to camp like to sit around a fire and laugh, it's fun, some like to sing. It's about being together. Summer is short. Don't kill the joy. Most people who are camping do not have tiny babies or aren't elderly and go to bed at 8pm--that's reality! Be honest about the kind of people who camp and what they do. Otherwise you are in denial. The next morning, before leaving I did tell the owner that I had observed lots of positives and improvements in the campground, but that his approach the night before was quite rude. To put things into perspective, I have a seasonal campsite at another campground. These two campgrounds can't be compared, they are apples and oranges. One is bare bones, one is about the customer at every turn with top notch facilities. At my home base seasonal campground, our quiet hour is 11pm, which is a little bit more reasonable. I've never seen our campground owners scream or act in such a rude way to their guests. At our campground, we keep a nice balance of having a lot of laughs and not having things too out of control. In summary, Pemi River Campground is a great basic campground for tubing down the river with friends, they take care of the rental and transport part of this very well. Their pricing is somewhat high for the campsites and the equipment rentals.The facilities are basic. You can have a great time here, but they take the 10pm quiet time a little too seriously, as long a you are conscious of that, you will be okay. read more

Nice location close to the river. Average size campsites with very little amenities. The owner has a superiority complex and is always right. Just ask him. Fun can be had until 10 pm and that's when your day needs to end. The rude owner will yell at you and threaten you if your not quiet to his liking. Even while he and his family hold a private party with a band playing well into the night after quiet hours. If you complain he will ask you to leave. This owner has his own agenda and lets certain guests act rudely and out of control while targeting others. Under age drinking is over looked while adults having fun are harassed. If you want to have fun I'm sure there is a better option on the pemi. If you want to be belittled then stay here. We will never return. read more

This is in responce to the review from Chachi. First of all I'm in no way affiliated with the campground in anyway except I've been going there for 7 years. Its a fantastic rustic campgroud that is well maintained. It's family oriented intentionally so it is not a party campground. You can party all you want during regular hours as long as you don't get obnoxiously drunk and disturb other campers. Quiet hours are 10pm as she stated and by the time 10:30-11pm comes around if your still partying and loud the owner comes around and quiets you down, so yes he is strick about it. That doesn't mean lights out and into bed, you can sit around your campfire as long and late as you want as long as your not disturbing the other campers around you. What a concept that is, being respectful to others around you. So if you think that you should be allowed to be as loud, drunk, and obnoxiuos as you want to be so you can have a good time at the expense of everybody else around you then this is not the place for you. As far as the "we were not loud at all" comment, well if the owner came to queit you down that means somebody called him. And just like every prisoner in jail maintains that they are innocent, I've found that to be the case with all the campers I've been exposed to that have been spoken too at this campground, "we weren't even loud". Well ya you were!! I've been spoken to on a few occasions after hours, you know why, because I was too loud. Great rustic, wooded campground. Bathrooms are well maintained and clean. Most of the sites are wooded and fairly spacious, some much more that others, but none are crunched in. Some large really nice big rig pull thru sites. Not a lot of eminities, fairly basic. Pemi river is great to swim, kayak, and canoe. Tons of places to visit in the area. Some of the cons would be some of the sites need to be leveled better and fill in the areas that get puddles in heavy rain. Remember this is not a modern grid type cement slab type campground. It's a small basic rustic classic New England wooded camground that is well run. Thats why I like you get the feeling your actually camping in the woods. Oh and the tents sites on the river are awesome except for the ones near the road stay away from those if you can, way to much road noise. read more

Okay. So. I was really excited to go camping for the 4th of july weekend since I hadn't been camping since I was about 12. The whole weekend made me weary when my boyfriend and I showed up a day later than his brother and his brother's friends and we stopped at the office to register our car. His brother had pre-paid for us, and the man with the eye patch at the front office had written this down, but then tried to tell us we were on a completely different camp site and owed him 120$. I don't think so. That got sorted out, after having to go to the campsite and get his brother, but then the guy tried to tell everyone that he didn't charge them for the last night and only through 7/4 and everyone owed more money - even though everyone's car tags said we were leaving 7/5. Then, the first night there, our neighbors were up past quiet hours (10 PM) just playing dominos or whatever - not bothering ANYONE - and I was so rudely woken up atound 1 am because one of the owners was SCREAMING at them to shut their light off, to shut up, to go to bed, etc. SCREAMING. Past quiet hours. Telling them to be quiet - she was the loud one. That makes sense, right? Then, another night, we had firecrackers. It's New Hampshire - it's legal. They're being thrown around, but just on our campsite - not off our grounds. No one spoke to us about it, no one had an issue. After a little bit, the dude with the eye patch comes over. He starts yelling at all of us "IF I HEAR ONE MORE, YOU'RE ALL KICKED OUT, IT'S ILLEGAL, I'LL CALL THE STATE POLICE, IT'S AGAINST MY INSURANCE" etc etc. #1 - it's not illegal. #2 - Kick us out when we've been drinking, i'm sure that THAT'S illegal to force us to drive. #3 If it's against YOUR rules, maybe you should post signs at your campground and list it on your website. It was literally posted NO WHERE. Then, when we went to reserve canoes, we were told we owed even more money. And eye-patch was a dick about it - obviously. Then, packing up to leave, the friend that had reserved all the camp sites had a trailer hitch for his kayaks. The tire had gone mysteriously completely flat (like all the air was let out, not a slow leak) and the dust cover on the tire was just plain missing. And the tires had been checked before we came up. Not that i'm pointing fingers or anything. Don't get my wrong - our site was gorgeous and I had a lovely weekend. And the pemi river is beautiful. But I will never go back to this campsite ever again, and I would advise that no one else goes there. OH - The bathrooms were really clean, so A+ there. read more

This is a nice place to stay for a night or two. Right off the highway (but be careful as some sights are to close to highway). The staff was very helpful and appreciative of our business. Not much to do for young kids. It's more about pitching tent and going off to other sights for the day. read more

The campground itself was OK for what it is, a rustic basic campground. If it rains while you are there, get out the boat. The set up for tubing the Pemi is great. The problem, loud seasonals who feel the rules don't apply and management does nothing about it. read more

Absolute worst campground I've ever visited. Luckily my family and I opted to not stay a night and only go for a day trip tubing on the river . First of all, we get there and it is extremely confusing and unorganized. No structure. We go in the creepy tiny "shop" to buy our passes for the tubes. Staff was RUDE. For no reason. Got out passes after about 30 minutes and hopped on the van to take up to the river site to embark on the ride. Crammed as hell in the van, way more people in there then seats. We were worried about my little sister and brother due to my sister only being a small 4 year old and brother being 9 and very fearful of things outside of his comfort zone. We asked the staff if they would be okay, if it was safe, if my sister could fit in the tube without falling out. They said yes to all and guaranteed that they would be fine and it was child appropriate. Immediately when we get to the starting point, we had trouble getting the tubes set and ready for the ride as it was very dangerous. My little sister didn't fit in the tube and would've fallen through. So she had to sit with my mother on her float, as there was no staff around ANYWHERE we were left with no help. Already extremely discouraged and angry, we start flowing on the river, or should I say pushing with out flip flops as paddles (they said it was a constant flowing river that would push us no problem) already tired as hell. The amount of land patches in this river that day... absolutely treacherous and horrible. Couldn't go a couple of minutes without having to get out of the floats and drag the heavy tubes through sharp rocks and gravel for hundreds of feet. If there weren't any dry patches, there were areas of flowing water over sharp large boulders also forcing us to get out and carry the tubes. Now imagine a 9 and 4 year old doing this for 6 HOURS?! Yes the entire ride was 6 freaking hours. Me and my cousins joke and said it was the worst 6 hours of our life... but I'm not joking. There actually came a part in the super fun tubing wonderland that was literally like white water rafting on huge rocks and tree stumps sticking out of the flowing water. Twigs and sticks and branches sticking everywhere. Could barely move and I'm surprised we all got out. So very dangerous and not fun at all. So exhausting. After the 6 hours we get to the end of the river. Finally. We get there and sit waiting for the ride to come and get us as we were told it picks up every 15 minutes to take us back to the start where our cars are. Well as we're waiting we see children all ages and drunk teens and adults being stupid and we watch as a drunk man jumps off of the bridge into the water, knocking himself unconscious. That was awesome for my little siblings to see, a drunk man knocking himself out cold, watching him get dragged out of the water lifeless. Luckily he lived. But the camp of course didn't stop anyone from jumping. So we're waiting and waiting to get our ride, anxious to get home. It is now almost dark as we got there at 8am. Our ride never came. We asked staff who were there when they would arrive they kept saying "soon". So since it wasn't soon enough, I called the main office which number I had found online. They said there was no ride back. Apparently we were already back to we're our car is just a couple of blocks away. They rudely told us this, very contradictory and mean. Made us out to be stupid. But yet we were only doing what we were told. But everyone. The owner is rude and mean. Such a miserable sad person and I really hope he finds peace and happiness because that man is just dark. My family and I cringe when we hear the name of this camp. Never returning, never letting anyone I know visit here. Horrible and I'm not sure why they are still open. Disgusting and rude. Visit at your own risk and make sure to have plenty of bandages and ice packs for after the ride as your feet legs and arms will be ripped apart. Thanks pemi river campground! read more
