Located right off the freeway, nestled in the relaxed woods. We have a 37' class A and was not sure how we would fit but the sites are spacious and you're not extremely close to your neighbor. The pemi river is a few mins of a walk from your site. There is a nice kids play area and a store on site.

It hurts my heart to leave this review but there's just no way I can give them a good one. We went here 6 years ago and had an amazing time so we tried again, because it was really nice.... so here's my review. We rented a camping site and a cabin. Our camping site was literally filled with rocks.... like small pebble rocks that if you put your tent on could leave a rip and definitely hurt your back if you're sleeping on them. There were two spots without rocks.... and I'll add the pictures of the two spots. They both flooded. In fact, between our camping spot and the cabin it flooded. I could have basically swam across it, or wade through it. It went to my knees. There was a huge pile of rock/gravel so maybe they knew it was happening but still wanted my $40? Anyway it wasn't fun. At the front desk is a beautiful lady but she's wasn't super friendly. I did make her smile. I enjoy when you check in, someone actually wants to check you in. I get it, the people!!! But Customer Service is a thing! We saw "security" yelling at a couple kids that were on the beach. It was raining and they were freezing cold, the guy didn't seem to care. Screamed at them to "get off his beach!" Pretty sad actually any human can treat anyone like that. Ridiculous as it was raining and noone was even on the beach. We were picking up our tubes off the beach, as we bought tubes and drove a few miles down the road, parked and launched ourselves. They charge $8 per tube for the ride. It's $10 to buy a tube so we just doubled the cars and drove ourselves. So to the cabin, the cabin literally had dried throw up on the ground. When we spoke to the front they said it was "wax" and not throw up. She didn't want to "mess up" the finish on the floor. The "finish" is plywood! It's legit plywood. The floor hasn't seen a clean mop in a while and definitely doesn't have a finish. The walls were beautiful, not the floor. The beds in the cabin have those super small thin mats on them. Bring an air mattress if you're gonna use the cabin cause wow! It's not fun on your back. When we came here 6 years ago it was more tenting then regular campers. Now it's all campers. That's the only reason I wanted to give this a good review. We met so many wonderful "regular" campers. Genuine beautiful people. They made our camping trip so much better. To those people who offered a roof to us in the rain "Thank you!" To the same people who offered us a place to cook out of the rain. Thank you! That is what our world is about.

Been going here for years. Staff are very nice and friendly, the location is nice, (apart from the highway noises, which you get used to after a few hours) wood in the store is very dry, and, although the owner is strict of the rules, it is only because he wants to enforce them, seeing how they are broken so often. Beach is very nice, and, with events happening as often as every week, you'll never be bored at the Pemi River Campground.

This is the apparently egregious parking situation that got us tossed from Pemi River Campground.

My favorite campground in New Hampshire! This is the place to get away from RVs and trailers and…read moreloud noises. OK there are a few spots for groups and you could probably get an RV and trailer up there, but I have yet to see it. The campsites here all have the basics for tent camping: picnic table, fire pit/grill, peace and quiet. Most of the sites are spaced far apart so that you don't turn your head and make eye contact with a neighbor. Some of them are almost completely isolated, and a few have lean-tos (you're near the Appalachian Trail after all). The fire pits are kind of annoying though, they're basically three-sided iron boxes with sliding grates on top. You'll stay warm and can easily cook on them, but not everyone is going to have a great view of the fire. There is garbage on site, pit toilets, potable water, and lots of hiking nearby. In fact, the hiking is probably one of the biggest draws. You could get a spot here and then hike to one of the other campgrounds in the national forest (those are obviously hike-in only), or just spend a few hours in the forest. We saw lots of moose droppings, but no moose. Maybe your luck will be better than mine. The river is nearby and there are several parks and access points to get to it. I saw quite a few people fly fishing last time I was here. You've got to drive to Maine to get here, and then head about 5 miles along a dirt road to cross back into NH. Stock up in nearby Gorham and bring plenty of firewood. You'll want to stay at least two nights, and you'll definitely want to come back.

Everything is an up charge. There is no water view in sight despite every photo of the cabins showing water. Absolutely NOT worth $1,044 for 2 nights. We camp 15-20 times a year (both tent and cabin) and love the outdoors, but that isn't at all what this is. So sad to have been deceived by their posts. I hope you can save yourself the disappointment. Update- Well over a year after my initial post, Boris, the business owner, finally responded. It is disappointing that after such a long delay, the choice was made to imply I simply didn't "thoroughly review" their photos. Claiming "transparency" while marketing every single cabin with a water view--when in reality, my $1,044 stay consisted of a small cabin on wheels sandwiched between parked cars with zero privacy--is the definition of misleading. Labeling a cramped, overcrowded layout as "community-focused" doesn't change the fact that the actual experience does not align with the curated, secluded aesthetic advertised. My issue isn't a misunderstanding of "glamping"; it's a rejection of being overcharged for a misrepresented experience. Instead of discrediting guests who have spent significant money at your business, I hope you use this feedback to provide more honest marketing. I'll continue to support reputable spots that value transparency over defensive excuses.

The owners are by far the nastiest people I have ever met . Our son owns a very popular business in the same town. He also lives right up the road from the campground. We were visiting for 4 days excited to spend some time with our grandkids. We were hoping to spend a couple of hours on Saturday with the kids by the pool. Something I told the owner when I called to book. He never once mentioned extra fees. He also said he would be happy to put us by the pool. It all started the first night when we had our son, daughter in law and one grandchild for dinner. They wanted to charge my daughter in law $115 to visit. I went up to the office and tried to explain that they would be there only about an hour for dinner. They said for them to visit for 4 days that was the charge. I tried to explain that they would only be having dinner that night and Friday night. The kids were in camp all day so no kids would be with us during the day. They let them in for an hour. The next morning, the husband was out by the pool, so I went over to try and talk to him. I let him know that we would probably not be there very much during the four days or it would only be for dinners. We had hoped to have the kids for a couple hours on Saturday to use the pool so I offered to pay for that. He got very defensive and told me that campers like Me didn't belong in his campground, and that he he was a small local company and they all work together in that town. I replied well, if you all work together then obviously, you don't work with certain businesses because my son owns one of the best businesses in the town. He told me if I didn't like it that he would give me my money back. I went back to the RV and spoke to my husband called my son. My son said mom just get out of there and go to my house. As I was packing up to leave, he came along with his golf cart, and his wife and I had my back to him and I turned and told him we were leaving. He had my check in his hand and gave it back to me. And told me to get out and then the wife got out and started using the F word She was so nasty that we couldn't wait to get out of there since then we've read a lot of negative reviews similar to our experience. All I can say is if you want to go camping in Thornton, New Hampshire don't go to Goose Hollow campground. If you're an outsider you will be treated like trash . We have camped many times at Branch Brook campground in Campton New Hampshire, which is right down the street. We made a big mistake choosing GOOSE HOLLOW this time. The kicker is that the pamphlet that they give you when you arrive with the map it says on the pamphlet if you have overnight guests you're allowed four adults and two children total. The extra adults would pay $10 apiece and the children would pay five dollars apiece but that was for OVERNIGHT only. Not at any time did we plan to have guests overnight. Also, we booked (and paid for) a site which would've included two adults and two children. I explained to them that we were only two adults, and if we did have the grandkids there, they would be the two children. He told me those were OLD rules. BEWARE If I could give this 0 stars I would.

I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground). The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road.
