Always clean and nice folks. The river is beautiful. We had the chance to have our site all summer. So worthier. Great family campground.

I love the fact that it has a dog park and it is a dog friendly establishment. I would prefer if the showers had better pressure and were more modern, normally we wouldn't use it but our shower in our RV was out of commission. The store had good snacks and they did a great job picking up the trash and everyone was friendly.

When we entered there's a gate that you need a code to open (the entrance isn't great for longer trailers you need to swing way to the right). You get an escort to your site to make sure you make it in alright. You also get a map of the campground. We were in site 81 which is a pull through but our 33 footer hardly made the turn (we had to hold a tree back so it wouldn't hit and the roads are very narrow). The site was rather small not much wider then our awning, length was ok as long as you don't have a tent or anything other then a car/truck. You can also hear the highway from our site but its not very bad and the highway isn't very busy. There is Wifi but for my phone (iPhone 6s) it is in and out (the extender it in the site next to us). There is in and out cell service here for Verizon (Not sure about others) We had a problem with the cable not finding any channels and they came out and fixed it (the cable connection was in a hole in the ground not the visible one on the box) You can rent kayaks, canoes, row boats, paddle boards and peddle boats for $10 an hour. "First come first serve". But they have better rates on the weekdays. We rented two kayaks and a canoe from 2:30-4:30 ($60) and it was beautiful out, the water was very calm and clear. Sli The pond (Moores pond) is where you launch. Theres are a lot of lily pads and aquatic plants that grow to the surface and go pretty far out into the pond but if you go out far enough its clear of plants There is a volleyball court, movie theater (very small) pavilion where they serve breakfast 8-10am, lunch 12-2pm and dinner 5-8pm. (The lunch menu can also be ordered for dinner) I got a burger at the pavilion and it was great, a little crispy on the edges and a smoky flavor. They also have cabins and TiPis that you can stay in. Honestly wouldn't come back in a trailer but I would try a cabin or tipi.

Review of Tamworth Campground - 306 Depot Road, NH…read more I don't usually write reviews, but after our recent experience at Tamworth Campground, I feel compelled to speak up. We are a Latino family and had been planning a meaningful family reunion for months--celebrating my sister's 46th birthday and honoring life after recent personal challenges. What was supposed to be a joyful and healing weekend turned into a deeply disappointing and uncomfortable experience due to the staff's poor treatment, lack of professionalism, and what we strongly feel was targeted and unfair behavior. We reserved three campsites at nearly $80 each (which is not a problem). My sister--an experienced camper, teacher, social worker, and holistic healer--put her heart into organizing this event. Some family members flew in from out of state; the rest of us drove hours from different parts of New England to come together. I myself am a city advocate for Boston and was genuinely looking forward to a rare, peaceful break with loved ones. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but peaceful. From the start, our group was singled out. Staff repeatedly visited our site with noise complaints--despite several other campsites nearby hosting loud parties, including one that went on until 3 a.m. We were surrounded by louder groups but appeared to be the only ones policed. Our children--mostly under 10--were simply enjoying family time outdoors. I even walked around to apologize to other guests; all of whom assured me they weren't disturbed. One neighboring group admitted to having over 10 people on their site and said no staff had approached them once. On Saturday, my brother arrived after driving five hours with his son to join us. The staff immediately claimed we were over capacity. According to their "six heartbeats per campsite" rule, we were technically over by just two--with 20 total people spread across three sites: 8 adults, 4 teens, and 8 children between the ages of 2 and 10. Rather than work with us, the staff refused to hear us out. My sister, trying to deescalate the situation, agreed to pay for a fourth campsite--even though it was unnecessary. Ironically, that fourth site remained empty, and I ended up joining it just to stay within their arbitrary enforcement. One staff member in the front office was particularly rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. She repeatedly talked over my sister, showed no empathy, and used sarcasm instead of solutions. My sister remained calm and respectful throughout, simply trying to find a way to comply. The staff member continued to cut her off, reciting policies and refusing to acknowledge it was our first time at the campground. She kept repeating that "a heartbeat is a heartbeat" regardless of age, as if we weren't already trying to follow the rules in good faith. On top of that, the Wi-Fi only worked near the front office--not a major issue for us, but worth noting for those who rely on it. What really mattered was the repeated feeling of being watched, targeted, and made to feel unwelcome. My pre-teen nieces were even stopped by staff while walking to the bathroom and asked if they were "with the Garcia group." After saying yes, the staff looked at each other and drove away. It made the kids feel singled out and uncomfortable. On Sunday, a staff member began circling my sister's campsite around 9 a.m.--two hours before checkout--pressuring her to leave. While she did run an hour late (and paid the fee), the constant hovering felt excessive. We left the campsites cleaner than we found them. We followed rules. We remained respectful--even while feeling judged, unwelcome, and unfairly monitored. And while I hate to play the race card, it's impossible to ignore how differently we were treated from other groups around us. We were a Latino family--and we were targeted from day one, well before any noise complaints or policy issues came up. With the exception of two kind and professional staff members (a young woman with curly hair at the register and another woman with short hair on a golf cart), the tone and treatment we received were unacceptable. Rules can be enforced professionally--without sarcasm, without assumptions, and without making guests feel like a burden. We will not be returning. I had even considered hosting a retreat here for a group of 90 active older adult campers--but after this experience, I could never recommend this place. The natural surroundings were beautiful. The human experience was not. Tamworth Campground has a lot of work to do when it comes to hospitality, inclusion, and basic customer service.

It is very easy to get to and is right off the Kancamagus Highway. Full disclaimer: our stay was late June, right before Memorial Day so it we had the place to ourselves. We chose campsite #10, it had plenty of space for our vehicle and made it very easy for load in/out. I believe it was $22/night (bring cash or check for the honor system envelope drop by the entrance of the campground). The campsite is close to the river but not close enough to hear it. However, there was a little trail from our campsite to the water and it took only a minute to get there. If you want a campsite really close to the Swift River, you'll need to get a campsite #21-24. Our campsite had a picnic table and a large fire ring with a grill grate that will lower over the fire. There were even some large tree stumps left there for seating. We didn't have anyone camping around us, but I'd imagine each campsite has a good amount of privacy and space during peak season. Id recommend buying firewood before you arrive at Passaconoway. The year-round campground host sells firewood (which is very convenient) but you can get double your money's worth if you buy them from little wood stands on the side of the road. If you're passing through Lincoln (via 93 exit on Kancamagus) you will see some self serve wood piles by some gas stations.

It has a couple of nicely secluded spots and tends to stay pretty quiet (in part because of the lack of amenities). There's a series of trailheads from the lot just across the street that acess some beautiful hikes, and since it's close to the center of the Kanc you're pretty close to whatever else you want to go see in that neck of the woods. Bring cash because it's an "iron ranger" system (currently $20 per night for one car) and the firewood there is $6 a bundle.

When we noticed an opening, we asked nearby drivers if we could squeeze in, and they had no issue with it. As we were parking, an employee approached us in a very aggressive and unprofessional manner and told us we could not park there. We apologized and explained that we were not from the area and had not seen any signs. We were told that the rule was "well known to locals" and that a sign existed at the front of the line--more than 25 cars ahead, making it impossible for us to see. Despite the surrounding drivers having no objection, the employee demanded we leave and became increasingly hostile when we asked questions or requested a manager. At that point, the interaction escalated unnecessarily, and we decided it wasn't worth the confrontation and left. I've never experienced such a level of rudeness from a staff member over an honest misunderstanding. Clear signage and more professional communication would have avoided the entire situation. Someone even yelled out "stop being a parking nazi". I would have otherwise liked to review the venue itself, but we were unable to do so as we never made it inside.
