Unless there are new owner since 2016 and if so then I will remove my 2016 review Sometime in 2014 to 2015 new owners took over. We stayed there with friends in 2013 under the previous owners who were extremely nice. So we made reservations for 2014. June 16, 2014 I was hit by a truck in my front yard while standing and was clinically dead and brought back and spent 3 months in the hospital and a year and a half in therapy. While I was in the hospital my wife called the previous owners & staff and at 1st were reluctant to refund your deposit. Once the owners knew about this they gladly refunded and wished us well. Now 2016 rolls around and we wanted to return and I called to make reservations and it was somewhat difficult but the young lady did make and confirm our reservations for 2016. Then we got a call from a man Jim who said we were not allow back there because we canceled and were black listed due to my accident in 2014. So I will let you be the judge of their character. Too bad it was a nice place and under previous owners was a pleasure being there. My previous post February 8, 2016 was taken down for what reason I am not aware of. Up for the second year. We've use the campground as a cheap layover before trip to Monkey Trunks a little up the road, but wouldn't mind staying longer! Insanely convenient to Rt 16, but you'd never guess you were less than 10 minutes from Yankee Smokehouse (if you can't get your cook fire started ;) They have a pool, but the river is great to cool off on a summer day. The "lifers" (seasonal campers in RVs) are more friendly than at other campgrounds I've stayed at and staff is accommodating. I haven't taken advantage of the numerous activities they promote, so I can't speak to them. But for a budget way to do the Whites, give Whit's End a try. read more

Awesome place to come camping especially with family or friends. The owners are awesome, very reasonable and always friendly. The river is a great place to go tubing or kayaking/canoeing, is slow flowing and perfect for nice long rides. Jan and Dan knew that camping was about being with family and friends enjoying time around the campfire. Continued going there after it was sold and it became a totally different experience. We no longer felt welcomed, there was no more "how you guys doing" or smiles or chit chat as the owner/staff drove around checking on things. No matter what we did, it was wrong. I guess it's more of a resort now - you know, with all the amenities and activities that your hometown taxes pay for through parks and recreation or local businesses. Save the gas and stay home. Enjoy your own or a friends backyard. Stay local and save some time. money and aggravation. read more

I came here last year with a group of friends who had been before and loved this place. We arrived and got great river front sites. We had a very good time. We were asked to stop playing beer-pong at one time with the owner saying 'I don't like beer games, I drink my beers one at a time like everyone else' which we thought was silly because we had water in the cups. So we stopped, and besides that we had a great time. We loved the karaoke bar. But, when a friend called to make a reservation for this years trip, we were told that there had been a note made under our name not to let our group return again saying 'They didn't want large groups there anymore' and gave my friend another campground we could check out. We were both upset about this because we thought we all followed the rules and didn't deserve to be asked not to come back. read more

One star because zero wasn't an option. By far the WORST camping experience we've ever had. We reserved our campground in advance, requesting a "riverfront" site. Three sites were available, the one we got was recommended. Not only was the site not on the river, it was the ONLY site of the available sites that did not have a direct river view. We requested to speak with a manager, who handled the situation with so little tact that it was embarrassing. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced. If he is a business owner, I feel sorry for our countries small business community. On top of this, once we asked to leave a day early, he refused to refund the charge for the night we did not stay. Terrible business. In addition, multiple people had to complain about the noise from the campground the night before. People were overly loud and disruptive (during the campgrounds "quiet hours") and not a single employee was around to address the situation. Will NEVER return to this campsite and would never recommend it to anyone else. We left in search of a new campground halfway through our trip. On top of this, I would be hesitant of going trough this company due to his poorly run business. Our credit card was charged with no authorizing signature, which I would say is a highly frowned upon business practice. read more

We have campe here for several years and for the most part enjoy the campground until our last visit. We booked three sites, and twoothers in our party book campers. A family get togther with almost 900.00 spent here. They did give us a discount for group. The problem came, however on the second night. The campground policy states that quiet hours are 10pm. Mind you this is a family campground.At 815 to 830 pm the owner( ?) or security told us he had got complaints on us.Then he said he could hear us at the house.The kids were doing a pinata for about 10 mins. After his visit one child in tears.From that point on it was constant drive bys and stopping. Like the young neighbors across from us who had same issue the night before, we asked abutting sites if we were bothering them to which they said no. Some also had children playing and laughing. The answer from all was NO.When you book a site it is your responsibilty to read the policies to which we did.Apparently the policies are fluid. Upside clean pool, clean shower facility albeit small. Needs some maintenance as areas are overgrown and good amounts of posion ivy. Most sites near river are nice and sheltered read more

The facility and the river is nice. Kept relatively clean and cute. But the owner is a CREEP. he drives around slowly at night and shines his lights on campsites and just idles there if he thinks they are being loud. We are family with kiddos and he drove over to tell us we were being too loud (rather rudely) and letting our kids run around...at 830. on our own campsites. Quiet hours start at 10. He was all over the young people having a good time in the site across from ours, again even before quiet hours. I saw him come there and just idle his truck across from them and shine the light without getting out for like 10 mins, around 930. We were right across from them and not being bothered. I mean, this is what people do when you go camping, sit around a fire and laugh and joke. I get quiet hours but you cant drive around harassing people that have paid to be able to enjoy themselves before the required 10 pm. PLus the way he went about it was really odd. Uncool. Members of our party have been before and said it was much better. 3 out 5 stars. read more

Had an awesome experience up until we had the cops called a half hour before quiet time. The new owners don't know how to run a campground and would rather call the police than deal with it themselves I would not recommend staying here as long as these owners are around. read more

This is an awesome place to take the kids !!! They have everything and a Beautiful lake . My Dad used to take me here when I was a kid. They used to have a wire that ran across the road, and when you entered it would say " Ha Ha Ha welcome to Gitchee Gumee" So my Dad wold park just before the wire and ell us to get out of the car and throw a rock at a certain tree and it would talk to us...... as he stepped on the wire ....lol. We were such little kids and believed that the tree talked. But We had so much fun there and I will never forget it. You could rent Canoe's there and many other things. We used to have Picnic's there and Barbecue's . Great , wonderful Place for all. read more

Absolutely the worst campground I have ever been to. The new owner of this campground is extremely rude and unprofessional. The second I get to the site the owner drove up and threatened us with cops saying he will not hesitate to call them and will have us kicked out if we are being to loud. He made it very clear that quiet time was strictly 10pm which was not a problem and reasonable. However at about 8pm he would prowl around in his green truck every 30 minutes yelling at us to be quiet and most times would park with the headlights facing our site and watch us for as long as 15-20 minutes. This made most of the women and young children feel very uncomfortable. We rented about 6 sites all together and are very respectful of the rules in place, but since our group is mid to late 20's he thought we were there to just party and be obnoxious. Also we had gone to all of our neighboring sites and asked if we were being to loud and they mentioned that the owner was also rude to them and that they couldn't hear us at all. We ended up packing up a day early and left with a terrible experience. It only sucks because the previous owners did such a great job building a strong friendly community for this new owner to ruin the experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and wish I could give this 0 stars read more

I stayed at this campground with a few friends and family.The owner immediately started threatening us the first night to kick us out and calling the police. we asked our neighboring sites who said that we were fine and being respectful and not bothering them. They then told us that the owner made their 6 year old daughter cry, as he was driving by their sites and also making them uncomfortable. Quiet hours are at 10pm and he would come to tell us to quiet down as early as 8:00, we always turned off the music at 10pm as well. The owner drove past us every hour all the nights we stayed and would park his truck in front of our site and watch us for 10-30 minutes. He then came back and said because there was a bottle of whiskey on the table he was debating letting us stay and we were not welcome back even though we are all in our mid to late 20's. We were made to feel very uncomfortable by the man our whole trip, when again our neighbors said we were respectful and they could not even hear music. I would not recommend staying here. read more

If you're looking for a campground where you'll be harassed by management every half hour, this is your place! My friends and I rented two adjacent camp sites and were playing yard games during the day and having a fire at night. Nothing crazy. No music after 10pm and talking quietly per camp rules. Every 30 minutes we were getting yelled at to go to bed or put out our fires when nobody else was being asked to do the same around us. Meanwhile this was at about 10:30pm. We were screamed at by the man trolling in his green truck and him assuming that just because we were in our twenties that we were here to get "drunk and party all night" when that wasn't even the case. Completely soberly, quietly enjoying a fire we were the only ones being targeted by management (we asked our neighboring sites who told us that they couldn't hear us at their sites and they weren't asked to do the same). Moral of the story is that our weekends were ruined by this constant attacking and being forced to essentially go to bed since we couldn't use our quiet voices after 10pm. I will never come here again after the disrespect, targeting and harassment myself and my friends experienced. read more

Nice enough family campground within close proximity to the white mountain highway. The droning noise was pretty consistent (dull roars of trucks and cars) and the river doesn't trickle to drone it out. I stopped here as a solo camper looking for a place to pop my tent after hiking all day. Private campgrounds are pricier ($34 for tents, $38 for electric/water hookups and river front) but I got a decent shower, clean pit toilets and a quiet night even with families in close-ish proximity. The sites appeared close due to a lack of trees/foliage separating them. I stayed on the (very clear) river at site R5 and any in that row were nice (though with neighbors it might feel a little cramped. If you can get it, R1/R2 looked more secluded. Well stocked camp store. One complaint: I think the host over charged me (the line on my bill read $42) but I slipped in minutes before she was closing so it is what it is. I'd return for some luxury camping if I was so inclined. read more

Do NOT stay at Whit's End Campground! This place is run by crooked individuals and the office was full of complaining customers. When we booked our campsite over the phone, they sold us a "riverfront" site with a view of the Bearcamp River. Our campsite turned out to be a gravel patch separated from the river by about 50 feet of thick woods and trees--no river in site. The camp map on their website is just as deceiving as the people who work there, showing campsites right along the river that are really just in the woods. To make matters worse, the camp manager was rude and unprofessional when we brought this up, refusing to acknowledge his false advertising while making snarky comments toward us. We weren't comfortable being treated like this, so promptly left for another campground down the road. Again, avoid Whit's End Campground or you'll find yourself at wit's end: very upset and at the limit of your emotional limitations! read more
