The wood we bought was cheap but wet so it kept sparking off so that was upsetting.

We don't care about the pool or wifi, don't care about what kinds of programming for families they may have, or any of the other things camp grounds are pushing these days. We want a somewhat private site, we want to be able to keep our fire going as late as we want (as long as it is under control), and we want to be able to keep our music playing at a reasonable level. We have never been told to put out our fire during quiet hours, or to turn off our music. We can stay up all night having a great time by the fire and playing cards without being broken up, but everyone plays by the same rules meaning it is not a wild place and we have never encountered other sites being too loud for our enjoyment. If you're looking for some old fashioned camping - even in an RV - where you can enjoy being outside with good company all night, this is a great spot. The staff has always been pleasant as well and the rates are comparable to nearby grounds.

Clearwater has a lake, but the lots are more jammed packed and not as spacious. Clearwater seems to be more family friendly with a playground, lake, etc. Meredith is more laid back and quiet. Meredith also has an indoor pool and hot tub which is nice. The staff at both places were very friendly and both have a nice store. We drove over to Clearwater to spend the day on the beach/lake. We rented kayaks which were very decently priced ($6 single, $12 double for 2 hrs.). The water was very clear and the beach was pretty large. The only downside to our camp site was a fence beside us. It made it feel a bit less woodsy. I also felt they could clean up around the store and grounds a bit. It looks a bit rundown. Same with the docks at Clearwater. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. We would stay here again!

This is amazing place. It's an AMC lodge so don't expect luxury. The crew are super nice. I've…read moreeaten meals here a few years ago and found it pretty good. But what is really nice is the campsites. We were in Dukes Meadow and were the only people there. Each campsite has a metal fire pit (some have stone pits) with a grill, picnic bench, flat area for your tent, nearby potable water source and bear box for food storage. There are wooden port-a-potties nearby. Ive been there before when it was more crowded and while still fun, it can be on the noisier side. Not outrageous and distracting. Eventhough we didn't pay for food, I went to the lodge to use the bathroom and sneak some coffee. You can also borrow a hiking backpack and hiking poles. You can buy firewood for $15. We hiked up the very steep and scary Holt trail, which I wish was better marked (as we got lost and had to bush whack up the hill). And ps - the signage indicates that the Holt trail is the steepest and hardest trail in all of New England. I had pine needles everywhere! Thank goodness we borrowed those hiking poles. Campsite #27 is in the woods and more isolated than the ones in the Meadow.

It's a wonderful place and we can't wait to go back. Like the other reviewers mentioned, know before you go that this is a lodge, not a hotel. Bring your own pillow. That's literally our only word of caution. We had a bunk room to ourselves, and with three meals a day provided, we were able to relax and just be present with our kids instead of having one eye on the clock all the time for meal prep and cleanup. We've stayed in two other AMC Lodges and this is the most rustic, but like the others it is immaculately clean, and staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people who clearly love what they do, there are abundant and healthy meals with lots of options for gluten free folks, and the staff knew or would check ingredients for our peanut and soy allergic kids. There are huge maps with popular trails, which is great for planning your day, plus each day there were naturalist-led excursions and educational programs. A refrigerator is available in the boot room on the lower level.

We stayed at campsites 18 and 19 and it was along the Baker River. They have free shower and toilet facilities, but only one shower and toilet per gender. They turn off their showers from 11pm to 7am so plan accordingly! There is also a water spout in the middle of the campground. WiFi is also available close to the check-in building. It's $10 per person, per night. Make sure to know your campsite number ahead of time. If you arrive late at night, they do not leave any notes or anything telling you where your campsite is. Also, ringing the bell does not help after hours. It's located near the side of the road so it can get annoying when cars drive past in the middle of the night. However, I don't mind staying here again. The folks here are nice. Campground is clean. It's also close to the Common Cafe and Tavern and the crags.

Two toilets in each. Plenty of places outside the bathroom to relax and wait if there is a line. Shower water is shut off between 11pm and 7am. It's in Belmont about an hour from Ossipee Lake and about a half an hour from Lake Winnipesaukee. It's a cute set up with a few tenting sites as well as a majority of RV and cabin sites. Definitely a seasonal place we're regulars spend their time. Quiet hours are after 10pm and fire had to be out before midnight. There are privacy fences around the few tent sites. When we forgot our paddles for one of our kayaks they let us use one for free. They had paddle boards and kayak rentals as well. The beach area was as nice as it could be but it did have a lot of floaties and a good amount of guck on the bottom. It wasn't a deep lake and it was filled with river weed and plant like to the surface just after the beach. Definitely don't want to fall in out of the beach area ! The owners hand delivered ice and fire wood whenever we called the front office, among other things. They wouldn't take our tips either. They even had a small store. All in all the place is cute, the owners are nice and when we were in last minute jam they were very accommodating !!

This year was the first year that mangy was horrible as the camp ground was sold to modern America and it use to be a family owned camp ground . No one was ever there to meet us to check us in or there when we had to return the gate key . The first visit my uncle who is handicap the bathroom shower seat broke when he was on it , one of the mgt was there and did nothing but put a sign on the bathroom "use caution shower seat broke " 5 weeks later they kinda fixed it. We started a fire and half the ground from the site went up as the site was full of pine needles and leaves that were never cleaned up. We were asked to move our car from the overflow parking lot when the same lady told us to put it there. The last night of our stay in Oct of 2023 there was domestic with a gun at the entrance and not one person of mgt was there but my husband was with the police. I am so upset with modern America They every went as far as not renewing another family memebers seasonal because she asked very nicely when they thought the shower seat would be fixed (after 4 weeks) she politely stated there are lots of elderly and disabled in the park an she was just wondering .

I made the mistake of going here out of nostalgia rather then checking reviews. BIG MISTAKE. At first sight it wasnt bad looking, and I was genuinely excited to check in. The girls were friendly at main office and kind of helpful. This is the point where it all went down hill, and the crap show started. Upon getting to our site within five minutes my niece steps on rusty barbed wire puncturing and scraping up her legs. Causing an appointment at the doctors office for a shot. Then after smelling something horrible for almost two hours we looked up to see dead lobster shells hung on branches above the camp. Amongst the shells trash was basically spread out threw the sites with no obvious attempt to pick anything up. DO NOT USE THE BATHROOMS. I was terriffied of catching hepatitis with this disgusting place. Not only was there poop all over the bathroom the showers were just as terrifying. I mentioned all these problems to the "manager", but that was a waist of time. He is just as incompetant as his house keeping staff. I mentioned all this to the house keeping manager as well she shuckled after saying I just cleaned them. Which she hadn't because I just walked from there. LIARS ALL OF THEM.
