I read all of these posts about low risk, bait and switch, etc. I have to tell you these guys are the best of the heap if you are a safe, low risk driver. I've had a few comp claims with them and their experience is fantastic. I recommend these folks every time I can and have personally brought friends and family to Pemco. Give them a shot. read more

Stuck with them for 20 plus years even with rapidly rising costs. Had an accident where I was not at fault years ago and the customer service rep I had was impossible to reach and would not return my calls. That should have been my first sign of "get out now". Then, recently, someone keyed my pickup and they claimed it a total loss. It was a minor repair and the truck had less than 75K miles on it. an average of 2K miles driven a year. They would not work with me and they would rather pay me for the total loss and lose my monthly payment than work with me. I loved that pickup and it was in amazing shape. It wasn't in an accident and ran like a top! This company is a pile. Don't renew and don't sign up with them. When you need them most they are not going to be there for you. Let me say that again: WHEN YOU NEED THEM MOST THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE THERE FOR YOU. I now have USAA and am so happy with my change. PEMCO - You're the worst. read more

I am currently shopping around for new insurance - home/auto/business. I remembered that I used to have Pemco insurance who then dropped me after being involved in a pretty horrendous motorcycle accident (which wasn't my fault). That was more than 30 years ago, but after reading many of the 1 star reviews, it looks as if nothing has changed. I'm proud to say that I will continue to stay away from Pemco. Im glad I've come to my senses. I've never read so many of the same stories: "been with them since... then they dropped me". Its *almost* like it's legalized stealing. *cough, cough* I remember when lobbyists from the insurance companies bought their way to making insurance mandatory in this state, saying "it'll bring the rates down because of a larger pool of the insured". Yeah, roughly one month later prices went WAY up! Of course they did, and its been that way ever since. What I don't get is anyone claiming these companies are "hemorrhaging money". Stop it. Terrible company, I would not recommend them to anybody!!! They cancelled my insurance because they said that I had branches overhanging my house. (There are no trees even near my house) They said my 3 bushes in the front yard were overgrown. (Those are my privacy bushes) and they didn't like the fact that my kids had a trampoline. read more

This review is for my parents. They were with Pemco insurance for the last 35+ years. Through multiple residences, they have stuck with Pemco. They have had homeowners and auto with 2-7 vehicles covered at all times. I thought their rates were way high, but my parents stuck with them because they are loyal. They have had very minor claims, nothing their fault... like a tree falling on a parked vehicle in a wind/snow storm. One day, out of nowhere, an agent shows up to their house and demands to look around and take pictures of their property. Then decides that they are no longer eligible because they have things out and are in the process of re-organizing. They are all things that are now NO LONGER ISSUES, like I said, they were moving things around, and yet Pemco dropped their homeowners insurance. What a terrible thing to do to people who have been so loyal to your company for over half their lives. Just horrible. 0 out of 10 stars, so NOT recommend. Terrible experience. We used the app and did a price quote. We had an agent (Michael Eng) call us and said he could not accommodate the quote that there system quoted us. It was about a $200 dollar difference. When we tried to discuss this he was adamant that he could not work with us and stated "guess you're going to have to go somewhere else." RUN! I did not have a great experience with them just getting quotes. I am all for supporting a local business, and they really seem to be pushing that narrative. I called to get a quote for Homeowners. They dramatically decided to make sure I would be under-insured upfront. I tried pushing back on their replacement value quoted, but they do not care, so BE AWARE.They will undervalue your home. I also was transferred to their Pemco Insurance Agency division which is a sister division that handles all the earthquake and flood. I questioned the under-valuation with him as well, and he was just like the most rude robot ever. Very condescending tone and treated me like I was an idiot. You know the mean Dr. on the tv show Scrubs? That's all I could think of in how he was talking to me, minus any moments of humanity. A total bully. At one point, I gave up and just asked him to stop the quote since he was being so rude to me, and brushed all of my concerns aside. Like, I am a potential new customer, and this is the point where my treatment should be the best, not the worst. IMAGINE if I had a claim. Or a real issue. How is Pemco going to handle it?! I would be scared if I was an actual client with a policy of their's. Mind you, I know how much my house is worth, I am literally in the buying process now!!! Evaluation, appraisals, and professional valuations galore, and they were under-valuing my home over $100k. INSANE. We received a letter and email from Pemco with what I felt was a threat. It said if we I put in another homeowners claim we might be cancelled. We have been with them for over 30 years. We've had two claims within the past 5 years. Both were small claims. The letter said she didn't want to upset us, but she did. I've been angry about this notice for the past few weeks. Hate to see what they do with people who put in big claims. Be aware if you are wanting to use this company. read more

My partner and I have had PEMCO for 8-9 yrs. They've been fine/nice otherwise, but their roadside assistance sucks. I was stranded for over 3 hours the other other day, and they kept updating me it would be another 30-45 mins. I called/texted (like they asked me to, to keep in touch with the person coming to help). Got no response so called their main line & was put on hold for a long time, only for them to tell me they didn't have a driver available & hadn't sent anyone in the first place. read more

I recently made a home insurance claim at my insurance company PEMCO. I have been a PEMCO customer for the past 15 years with no claims. I had a leak in my high ceiling at the entrance of my house during the recent storm. After they saw the leak, they said it is more than 14 days old and denied my claim. I am extremely disappointed at PEMCO insurance company in Seattle. I paid over $50,000 premium over the 15 years and now that I have claimed a pity $4,000 repair, they have denied my case. I sure am going to cancel my policies asap and find a company that does not abandon me when I am in need. You may wat to think about it before you choose PEMCO. read more

If Zero were possible, they get a big one! I WAS a pemco policy holder, home and auto for over 25 years. They WERE rated #1 and I thought that meant they were a better reputed company for insurance such as it is. THIS COMPANY SUCKS NOW!!! HIGHEST rates available and the discounts are minimal. THEY CHANGED THEIR YEAR LONG AUTO POLICIES INTO 6 MONTH POLICIES WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE. Just sent you the typical renew package, and lets assume NOONE reads the 30 page declarations, why would you if you've been a long time customer with no claims and no major changes, and they bank on that, no one noticed until they are all getting renewal invoices 6 months later! I even spoke to someone about some mileage/usage changes back in December for my policy renewal in January. At NO time did she say 'oh by the way, this $800 policy is now for 6 months NOT a year like last year. I even specifically asked if the amount quoted in December (before they went to 6 month policy) was going to be the payoff amount since I usually pay it off for the YEAR when I get my tax return, SHE SAID YES! When I discovered it was for 6 months I said 'Whoa, that means my insurance rates DOUBLED' They still tried to tell me that it only went up 16 dollars?! IT WAS 800 FOR A YEAR BEFORE, NOW ITS 800 FOR 6 MONTHS AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS DOUBLE! Heedless to say, I cancelled in the beginning of july. I tried cancelling on the pemco site but there is NO WAY TO, If you try to remove a vehicle, it says you cant without adding another. I sent messages saying their rates are ridiculous, I have no claims, no tickets, clean record, I am cancelling. No one responded but to sent me invoices.. My payments/renewal was due on the 22nd I Got new insurance, informed my mortgage co., did the whole thing, and now pemco is trying to tell me that the payment I made on the 22nd of June only covered me until july 13th so I owe them 28$ for the privilage of cancelling because of some prorated bs. I OWE THEM NOTHING. In 30 years of Pemco they got 75,000 out of me in premiums/ payments, and in that time I had ZERO claims, and cost them nothing. Its such a scam, we all know insurance is the illusion of piece of mind and safety but it gives you nothing. When you need insurance they will deny your claims and cancel you for having used it. I thought better of this company, boy was I wrong! There are so many options for insurance, I am surprised they think they can get away with this. They are going to have to fight me for that 28.00, it only makes them look worse, they would be wise to just forget about it. BTW when I bought my home, it closed on the 28th of May but I paid for insurance for the whole month regardless of only being there 3 days. They weren't concerned about pro rating anything back then! Can't even describe how disappointing and unreliable Pemco has turned out to be. We've been with them for almost 20 years with only 1 claim and they recently dropped us because our home is "too old". It's a historical home in Prosser and very well maintained. We've sent MANY customers their way (including our 6 children) as well as colleagues and friends. They used to be a caring company with personable staff but have gone corporate. I hope this review steers others away from a company that we've given thousands of dollars to. Guess how many of their customers will be leaving after we update our recommendation to friends, family and colleagues? It's actually going to work out for us since we're discovering their prices are MUCH higher than other companies. ** Update** We're going with State Farm and they're half the cost of Pemco. I spoke to a pemco rep yesterday. My bill went up. I wanted to ask about getting a discount. I have no claims at all. I drive low mileage and I park in a secured 24 hr place. We'll she could give discount if I took a defensive class $5. Not a big deal however I reinstated i had clean driving record so I'm not costing them anything well she said the cost of services and mechanics are up. BUT I dont have any claims. Over a decade with this company, no claims, kept paying the rapidly rising rates. Recently they forgot to give me a specific pay up front discount that we qualify for and requested (twice). Rather than apologizing for the mistake, they just make dishonest claims and excuses about policies and imaginary rules that are unnecessary and really just poorly treating customers. Pure greed. The good news, we received a several insurance quotes that offer a 12 month Auto/Home/Umbrella Policies with better coverage and 50% less costs than Pemco! They don't care about evidence. My daughter was involved in an accident. It was captured on surveillance video. The video was entered into evidence at her contested hearing for her ticket. Based on the evidence the case was dismissed against her yet Pemco sided with the other driver and paid off the other insurance company. They said that the court didn't blame the other driver, however they ignored the fact that the court dismissed the case against my daughter. With customer service like that from the claims department we are dropping Pemco. read more

Worst insurance ever. They will cancel on you when you need them and won't pay anything. They cancel without proper notification! I had insurance up until I called them reporting an accident and they told me oh your insurance was canceled yesterday!! Due to non-payment, while I have auto-payment work for years! They lied to me saying that its their fault and they'll cover it only need an approval from the higher manager. For 15 days they numbed me and let me leave the car at the towing place then told me they're not gonna cover anything. I paid 2200$ for towing and storage plus got my driver license suspended. Thank you for making the accident I went through a lot worst. Also they inscrease the rate for no reason or just how they increased ours for 3 years then claimed it was an error! read more

We've had Pemco as our insurance company for over 50 years because we enjoy the great customer service they always offer. This year, my wife was hit by someone in a parking lot. The owner of the car was especially nice and provided all of his insurance information. He also offered to personally pay for the damage if we didn't file a claim with our insurance company. It is difficult to trust people these days but my wife agreed to get an estimate and send it to him for payment. To protect ourselves, we gave all of the information to Pemco - just in case. A few days after she sent the estimate to the person, she received a check in the mail for the full amount. We waited for the check to clear, which it did. If there was a problem with the check, we knew (and he knew) that Pemco would be following up with a claim, but all went well so there was no need to pursue any action. The main thing I wanted to emphasize is that the customer service representatives at Pemco are always nice and pleasant to work with. We explained that we didn't want to file a claim unless the person who hit my wife's car failed to pay for the damage. Our representative took down all of the information and said "No problem! If it doesn't work out, just give us a call back." In all of the years we've had Pemco, their high level of customer service has always been consistent, which is why we've stayed with them so long. read more

I want to share an experience I just had that is deeply disappointing and shakes my confidence in Pemco. I've been a loyal customer for over ten years. I've always liked Pemco because it feels like more of a family business and it's local to Washington. They also work with educators (I got the discount, which was great) and I got the impression they care about the community and their customers more than the big insurance companies out there. I've always had such a great experience with them and I've recommended them to my friends and family. My whole family has Pemco. I've been out of the country for the past 3 months and before I went I called Pemco and asked if they could put my truck into storage, as I wouldn't be using it. I just got back to the US yesterday and called to reactivate my full coverage. I was told that there was a relatively small bill I needed to pay in December (not sure why I wasn't told this when I called and put the truck into storage) and because it wasn't paid my policy was canceled. Because it's been more than 60 days my policy can't be reinstated. And because I was in an accident last summer (not proud, but it was the first time in my life!) they won't take me on as a customer again. I've never even had a ticket! I spoke with a senior account manager and was told the same thing. Apparently underwriting rules have become stricter because Pemco has been experiencing more losses than usual. I can understand that a business needs to have rules and has every right to enforce those rules. But an insurance company ostensibly exists to protect customers when there is an accident. Why would they take my money for over a decade only to cancel it because I actually needed their help for the first time and over a technicality? This isn't how you treat a loyal customer. If you want to stop losses, maybe the first place to start is to not lose loyal customers who know how to use the internet. I don't know how many hundreds of people are gonna read this review, but I imagine that those who do might be cautious to sign up for a company that isn't loyal in an arena where loyalty is the most important asset. Treat your customers like human beings and you'll be rewarded with a profitable business. Care only about the bottom line and you'll watch your margins fall. read more

I have used Pemco for all of our insurance needs since 1975. We have had maybe 5 tickets in all this time (none in the last 10 years), and no accidents. For this loyal patronage we are rewarded with a huge rate increase on our auto insurance. We are retired senior citizens on a fixed income. I am shocked and upset. Pemco is a local company and was always great to work with. This is a big slap in the face. read more

We never made a claim for anything but they sure raised our rates. Insured our car okay, but only for six months down from the one year standard we always had. Homeowner's policy, they flat out cancelled our policy, saying we lived in a high wildfire area, we lived here since 2002 no claims, no fires. I've had homeowners and auto insurance from Pemco for 16 years and have not made a claim in over 10. My homeowners has gone from $700 in 2021 to $1,200 in 2023. My umbrella has gone from $360 last year to over $750 this year. My auto policy has also gone from 12 month terms to 6 month terms and increased by double digits. I called customer service and their only solution to lower rate was to reduce my coverages. My insurance broker told me that I had called Pemco a couple of times inquiring about coverage for incidents, but even though I declined to file a claim, and paid myself, Pemco still considers them "unpaid claims" and treats them as higher risk factors and a basis to increase rates. My son's car got rear ended through no fault of his own. PEMCO refused to pay enough to actually buy a comparable car. They left us over $3,000 short on an $14,000 car. We ended up with a car that had 20,000 more miles and some repairs to the tune of $1,500. PEMCO is greedy; they will take your money but won't properly reimburse you and then rates went up 25% this year. They are morally reprehensible. I reached out to the Washington State Insurance Commisioner and they didn't care. Said there was nothing they could do. read more

I have had Pemco insurance for about five years or more. My husband has two speeding tickets from 2023 one speeding ticket on my behalf of 2021 and a non-Apple accident that happened October 4 of 2023. Just got a notice in the mail that they are dropping us as of December 4 of 2023 and they will not do a renewal with us, as a customer, I feel a palled I feel as if they are dropping us because of the accident. We have had no issues until that car accident happened. It's OK we found a better insurance company that is a lot less than what we're already paying so to anyone. They deserve -87 stars. I made a claim a few years back and they took over 2 years to pay out. They committed many crimes and were morally offensive throughout the process. Before I could change companies, I needed to make another claim. That one took a solid year. Their roadside service may as well not exist. I've needed a tow truck a few times and they never send one. Every time they just keep you on hold for hours saying their trying to find one until your phone dies. They still haven't reimbursed me for the tows I had to pay for out of pocket. read more

Worst insurance company I've dealt with in 25 years of buisness they send me a bill, and a cancelation every month 10 days after my bill is do. They are incapable of billing on time, and when you call to get it sorted out it's like talking to a 3 year old they could careless about fixing the problem. On top of alm this they charge me a extra $10 to pay with my debit card they want my bank account number to auto pay. I only gave them 1 star because there's no option for zero stars.
