Vegan safe place! Pelons has become a staple in our household. They have SO many vegan options it's almost overwhelming. It's consistently delicious and always such great service! We love the music selection and salsa/sauce options provided. Highly recommend their horchata and vegan Hawaiian pipeline burrito.

The service was good. The place was clean and the food came pretty quickly. The fish taco was crunchy and tasted pretty good, but the carne asada didn't have much flavor at all. It was tender and juicy. It just needed more seasoning. Although I gave it a 3-star rating, I would go back.

Pelon's is part of our eating out rotation because it has something for everyone! As I can't have dairy, I truly appreciate all of the vegan sauce options. I recently got the fish tacos with a VEGAN Baja sauce. Usually in other restaurants I would have to just have no sauce. It's attention to detail like the needs of the community to have dairy free options that keeps me coming back. The portions are great, ingredients fresh, and the chips and salsa is comforting and addicting at the same time. I love the consistency and flavor of the salsa. They also have a wide range of hot sauces to choose from. The service is always pleasant, helpful, and informative. The decor is much like the Virginia Beach location but the space is much smaller. Pelon's will stay in our rotation because it is reliable and has actual, creative vegan/ non-dairy options!

We stumbled upon Pelon's Baja Grill after a quick search for some Mexican food. The reviews looked good so we decided to try them out. When we arrived we got menus from the cashier/waitress inside and sat outside. Once we figured out what our order was we went inside and placed it. When the order was ready for us, the waitress brought it outside. Pretty low key, no complaints there. Our food came out pretty quick and was nice and hot! Our kiddos both ordered the nachos. Those nachos was large! Perfect for sharing. We now know for next time. My husband and I enjoyed our burritos, and he got a taco. No complaints really. We loved the menu options and all the different types of burritos.

Pelon's, you did it again! LOVE the So-Cal burrito!! The bacon flavored hot sauce took it to a new level!! The free brownie Tuesday was the icing on the cake. The staff are so friendly and the place is very surfer zen!! The prices seem high, however, the taste and portions are worth the cost.

I really like this place. The food is fresh, the lettuce is not warped lol and it's not salty. They have a vegan menu that I found to be just as good as the regular menu. They offer vegan cheese and vegan sour cream so you won't be missing out on the essentials to Mexican food. So here is what I've had so far and my thoughts: Fish taco - it's fried and crispy. I wish they had a grilled option but you do have the option of corn or flour tortillas.I love the spicy Baja sauce that comes on it. Chicken Taco - plenty of lettuce and cheese. My hubs enjoyed it and says it's very good. It's not greasy and you can substitute he tortillas on this as well. Vegetarian Quesadilla - made with sautéed green peppers, onions and zucchini. They were very skimpy on the filling. Hardly none. The vegan cheese melted well. I'm not into vegan cheeses yet so I need to make a note to myself not to include it. The flour tortillas didn't have a nice browning crisp to it. And if you can see in my picture it wasn't really griddle, but just warm. I Probably won't get this again. Baja Rice - the only seasoning profile I taste is a light hint of cilantro. Other than that, the rice was bland. The sauces - very good! Get the Baja sauce! It's like sour cream with seasoning. The verde is good and good amount of spice/heat. Overall, they do sell good tacos and with their daily specials it's worth checking out.

I have been to this place multiple times and they always been good. I love the happy hour tacos! The tacos are really good and the taste is excellent, the only thing I would recommend or prefer would be if they warm up the tortilla, that will make the perfect tacos!

I met a girlfriend here for dinner after scouring several local taco joints for the best option. Since I can easily make tacos at home, I was seeking something different. The casual atmosphere involves ordering at the counter with quick table service. The menu is extensive, and offers several vegan options as well as more "California style" entrees including seafood. They also offer fun drinks (and non-alcoholic, like horchata)... if you come at the right time, you'll catch some happy hour specials. We started with the chip and dip trio. While the chips were stale and borderline chewy, what they lacked the dip made up for. I'm not a queso fan, but their jalapeño-flecked queso was perfectly complimented by their fresh guac. My tacos stole the show, however. I got the Baja fish tacos and they were perfectly crispy and flavorful - not to mention, a great deal. I exchanged one of my tacos for my friend's chicken taco, which we agreed was rather dry. I'd be back again, but I now know what to get and what to avoid!

I visited the Pelon's Norfolk location for a week day lunch. We were the first people there, around 11:30, and were promptly greeted and asked if we had ever been in before. They explained some of the specials, handed us a menu, and let us know we could order at the counter when ready I of course had scoped the menu out plenty of times prior online and promptly ordered 2 baja fish tacos and a carne asada taco. They took a little but of time but only what would be expected for fresh, made to order food. I thought the Carne Asada could maybe use a little bit more flavor on the meat itself, but it was a good size taco with plenty of guac and the salsa verde balanced it out pretty nicely. The baja fish tacos didn't impress me right off the bat, but they really grew on me. They had a great crunch and pretty good flavor. I think it would have been a little easier to eat (and more to my preference) if it was one solid piece of fish rather than small pieces. While I didn't think the options I chose were the BEST tacos I've ever had, I'm still curious to come back to try more, as well as the carne asada fries and the margaritas. The service was great and it's definitely a nice fast week day lunch option.

I've really been feeling Pelon's lately. Admittedly, when I first had them several years ago their food wasn't my favorite, but as of late I've really been digging their burritos as a local alternative to Moe's, Chipotle, and Qdoba. The "Surf's Up" is absolutely delicious! I love seafood, so the combination of scallops, shrimp, and whitefish (which you can't get at chain burrito places) blew me away; furthermore, the grilled vegetables inside are perfectly seasoned and the loads of pepper jack oozing of the burrito out are mouth-watering. It's easily my favorite burrito here. When I'm not in the mood for seafood, their chorizo burrito is a perfect alternative; so juicy and flavorful, and also a variety of meat you can't find at chain burrito spots. Their chips and guac are pretty decent, and I love that they offer battered fries as a side option. Another thing worth mentioning is their extensive hot sauce wall. No matter your preference of spice level you will find a sauce that fits your taste buds perfectly! I do have to call out the fact that during my most recent visit their infamous sauce wall was looking weak af, but I get it, they probably just didn't get a chance to restock. All in all, Pelon's is a great local spot to grab a bomb ass burrito. Try it out sometime.

9/5/2019 So I had the the dude burrito (carne asada) and it was good stuffed with rice beans, guacamole, lots of protein, and decent size burrito all around. But the only one thing still missing and that is flavor, even the 3 different salsas they offer are super bland. It makes no sense. Smh. 2018 I hate to do this but I have to, the tacos look good but they are so bland it's almost hard to imagine. I ordered 3 steak tacos and I even got spicy salsa to go but even the salsa was sooo bland. Just thinking about it makes me sad.

    Decor

Pleasantly surprised that it was happy hour when I went to try it out. Loved the shrimp and the fish tacos. Really good portions. Service was very friendly and the server took time to make some recommendations for my first time. Appreciated the ambiance of the decor, especially the hot sauce displays

This is something like a hidden gem. I've been in this area a few times and this location never really caught my eye until today. I'm so happy I decided to take a risk and step in because the food, service and drinks were amazing, not to mention the shelf filled with legit hot sauce for you to choose from. Leah was so friendly. Definitely worth taking the time to stop by at this dopetastic Mexican food joint.

I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible.
