This very cozy, clean, and friendly restaurant in Štěpánská street specializes in traditional Russian dumplings--pelmeni and vareniky--which they serve with a variety of savory and some sweet fillings. I had the Siberian pelmeni, like large tortellini filled with a mix of beef & lamb, and a bit of sour cream on top. They had the perfect al dente quality that pelmeni are supposed to have. Reminded me of dumplings my friend's mother used to make. They also have the option of several less-traditional sauces like sriracha or Tabasco, for anyone who needs to add a bit of un-Russian heat. No judgement They also sell frozen dumplings to take home. Pelmeňárna also has wifi, which is getting less common in Prague restaurants at the time of this review. Also at this time they're open daily 10 am-10 pm.

Beef & pork, and mushroom

Great pelmeni & varinky. We started with an order of Siberian Beef & Pork, and an order of Mushroom varinky. We ate onsite which is quite cozy with a beer & a coke. Our 3rd order was potato & onion and we followed the pelmeni with an order of cherry varinky for dessert. Overall, it was so good that we ordered some more mushroom varinky for takeaway. We're tourists from Los Angeles. This hit the spot. Very courteous staff and they get a lot of takeaway orders to go.

Our party of four (4) arrived without reservations and were informed of a 30 to 40 -minute wait. We were invited to have a drink in the bar which is off the hotel entrance. Within 20-minutes the hostess informed us that our table was ready. Duck with cherry sauce and braised beef with gravy and dumplings were outstanding. Although we did not have room for dessert, they looked amazing in display near the maître de desk. Several parties arrived as we were leaving to have coffee and desert.

The space itself is grand and beautiful, but the experience went downhill immediately. The hostess seemed to wield all the power in the room--no smile, barely any eye contact, just a curt and judgmental "no reservation." The restaurant was far from full. She then added, "I only have a side table for you," as if that were some sort of compromise. We accepted. At first glance, the waiters looked well presented, but with a bit more observation, the illusion faded. Some had sagging pants, untucked shirts, and most concerning, repeatedly inappropriate hand placement while on the floor. It happened more than once, which was uncomfortable and distracting (see photo). Overall, the place feels very pretentious without delivering on substance. The food wasn't anything special, and the desserts were average at best and certainly not worth the hype or the attitude. I wouldn't recommend Cafe Imperial to friends, especially if you're expecting a warm welcome or standout desserts.

I'm gluten free and he explained what I could have and what I couldn't. I began coughing a bit and he asked if he could give me some ginger. He made me ginger on warm water. It worked and was very kind. I had rib-eye with spinach and chimichurri sauce. It was pretty good and a decent size steak. My husband ordered the pork chop with French fries. It was delicious. This place is really nice and so are the people. The food was very good and reasonable. Too bad I live in the USA!

Café Louvre - Prague ( 8 to 23.30 )…read more We visited Café Louvre on a Saturday around noon, and although the line was long, it moved surprisingly fast. The staff is clearly very well organized and efficient. Service was quick, attentive, and professional. The waiters were elegantly dressed, which added to the classic, old-world charm of the place. We also got lucky and were seated by the window, which made the experience even more special. The food was absolutely outstanding -- truly one of those meals that makes every cell in your body feel happy. Everything was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and comforting, yet refined. You can tell this is a place that takes pride in doing things right. Yes, it's popular and a bit touristy -- but for a very good reason. Café Louvre lives up to its reputation, combining history, atmosphere, and excellent food with smooth, professional service. We highly recommend checking this place out when visiting Prague. It's a classic for a reason.

The selection of pastries was nice and enticing. I went for the Savoy cake, which was surprisingly light and not too sweet. I thought the marzipan would overwhelmingly cloy the taste, but it just helped the cake out. The raspberry lemonade wasn't really much home to write about. It was hot outside, so I opted for a cold drink. Maybe next time I'll get a tea/coffee. Service was prompt and efficient, but not super warm. However, I wasn't looking for the latter, so I was fine with that type of service.
