I discovered Marie (Pellé's owner) back when she was at another salon here in Vancouver. It took me two years to find a stylist I liked after I moved to Vancouver. And I am THRILLED that she now has her own place! I love Marie's sense of colour. She works with me, based on the time of year, to pick a good base colour (from red to copper). Her highlight work is great and she's recently put in a bright blue streak that I'm delighted with. I also like how she cuts my hair. She's one of the few stylists who have actually listened to me when I said "Seriously, don't give me a style that requires a lot of work - I pretty much just blowdry my hair upside down, run a brush through it, and I'm done." She cuts my hair in such a way that it looks great if I'm just out of the shower, but if I want to glam-up for an evening out, I can do a little stylin' and it comes to life. Great stuff! I totally recommend her or any of the folks in her salon. She has a great mix of guys and gals doing different styles and cuts. Depending on your personality and what you're looking for - there will be someone in the salon who can do great hair for you. read more

I've been recommending this place to all of my friends since it opened. The staff is really friendly, it's a comfortable atmosphere and, most importantly, my hair looks really great every time I leave. Score! Plus, it's a woman-owned business, which I love. I also love that the salon is very close to a 7-11, which makes me a little too happy. Slurpee and a haircut on the same block? HELLS YES. Edited to add: I finally took the plunge and had my rapidly graying hair coloured for the first time - ever - by Marie at Pelle. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with the result. Marie has been my hair's godsend for years now and I can't say enough about how fantastic this place is. I put them through their paces too since I have thick, crazy curly hair. Marie can blowdry it straight better than any other stylist I've ever been to. She's fast and it comes out looking like Jennifer Aniston's hair... (when I first walk in it usually looks more like Howie Mandel's) This place has a noticeably fun, easy going and really positive atmosphere. The staff are refreshingly authentic and talented. My hair is super duper curly (sigh) but Marie always works magic with it. I always get comments about my hair after I've been to see her. I've never found anyone else who can cut it the way she does. I also get color and that is generally bang on. My favourite was when a woman riding her bike by me on the street screetched to a halt and said in a thick French accent "Who doez your Colorrr? C'est magnifique!" Thank goodness for Pelle. And hooray for small locally owned businesses. read more

I was randomly walking down the street and saw a sign for threading and decided to give it a try. Sounds silly, but after years of getting my eyebrows threaded it's super important that the person knows what the heck they are doing. I didn't catch her name, but I think it was Missy?, something like that she was Persian and did a wonderful job. She was meticulous and used a big magnifying mirror to make sure she got all the tiny hairs she missed with the thread. The room was clean and the chair was comfortable. I don't like getting my eyebrows threading in an open space, where people can stare at me (ugh) like in a mall kiosk-gross. Anyways she was fast, careful, and friendly plus it was cheap ($13). If I remember correctly, they don't accept American Express, then again half of Vancouver didn't. If you need your eyebrows threaded this is a great place. read more

I did a review re Heather a stylist who rents a chair at Pelle. I stand by my description of the job she did on my hair. However, when I contacted her about the overpayment of $85 on a $35 service, she did an immediate refund to my MasterCard and stated there was some trouble with the apparatus she was using that entered that amount in the tip slot. I would still not return or recommend her as a stylist but want to acknowledge her doing the right thing re the unintended tip and total charge. read more

I've been waiting forever to try microdermabrasion and couldn't afford it until I saw a Groupon and read Pelle Derma Touch's stellar reviews. Well it didn't disappoint! Massey was very friendly and informative, I asked 56 questions about different services and skin care and she answered all of them haha. Maacy did my eyebrows the other day using feathering technique and I am extremely happy with the service. She really took her time to design the brows just the way I wanted it. Not only that she checks and re-checks her work throughout the whole procedure. She will keep reapplying the numbing cream to make sure I don't feel much pain (numbing cream has a very short half life). I can't wait to see the final look (they will fade by 30-50% apparently). Tip: aftercare: Vaseline for 2 weeks and no water/soap/cleanser for at least one week read more

I originally found this place on the internet and have been going there practically since they opened. I teach business at one of the universities here in Vancouver and I'm always pleased when I find a well run small business. The owner (Marie) is lovely and personable and her style and charm comes across in the store and in her staff. As a guy, I can't really "talk" hair very well, but she always knows what to do and what works. My girlfriend loves what she does for me so that's all that really matters. Other clients seem to be obviously having fun with her and appreciate the banter and the character of the shop. I say Bravo to Marie and to all other businesses like hers where people are doing something they love and are doing it well. I like seeing places that create something positive and that appreciate their customers and who are appreciated by their customers in return. read more

I have only had eyebrow threading done here but I must say Massy does the best job! They are shaped exactly how I like and she asked before trimming (I prefer not to have that done). I'm not sure if she uses a different technique, but the hair takes twice as long to grow back then the place I used to go to prior. If your hair is like mine (difficult), you are going to definitely want to book an appointment with Nikki. Today, I had a microdermabrasion treatment with Massy as a result of buying a Groupon coupon. There was some pre-treatment cleansing, the microdermabrasion and then an aloe vera mask. She was kind, personable and generous for taking me in when she did as the week before, the bus was late and I ended up not coming. I would suggest booking with her directly as the Groupon company takes a large percentage of the purchase and the vendor doesn't make much money, however, I would not have been introduced to her salon otherwise. I will go again for either microdermabrasion or a peel. read more

Originally went to this salon with a groupon for microbermabrasion and liked the technician Massy so much as we were chatting she mentioned that she does eyebrow microblading, shading etc and we talked about mink eyelashes as well. I was curious and went back to get eyelash extensions and I am more than happy! I would recommend going to her - she is VERY VERY experienced and has been doing lashes for many years. The place to go for laser hair removal! A coworker of mine recommended that I come here and it has been one of the best things I've done for myself! Massey is friendly but doesn't try to pretend that the procedure will be pleasant. It will hurt ladies but that means its WORKING!!! I saw results after the first session and after 6 I'm hair-free in most areas that were treated. Results will depend on skin tone and hair colour. If you are thinking about going to Pelle Derma Touch, DON'T!! I had the worst IPL of my life and actually had second degree burns with blisters from the treatment. The blisters were so bad that I had to have some of them lanced. Months later, my skin is still scarred. Massy also forgot we had set up appointments, which she had scheduled, and was surprised when I showed up for them. :( read more

Just before I got married, I went and got laser hair removal for both my legs and underarms , and I gotta say, it's the BEST INVESTMENT I've ever made! My fiancée hates hair, and I gotta say, from the first session I saw results, and after 3 sessions I barely have any more hair on my legs and nothing on my underarms!! So I purchased a Groupon to have Permanent Eyebrows done with Massy or missy. I have wanted to have this cosmetic procedure done for a very long time and was really nervous that they would look horrible and ultimately have a horror story on my hands. At first they were very dark which I knew they would be and after having them all healed up I am horrified that someone could have the nerve to think that I could even be the slightest bit happy with them. The shape is fine but she literally drew a line around my entire eyebrow with absolutely no filling them in. She expects me to pay her 80$ for my follow up appt when on her website it clearly reads "Touch up within 3 months free". My eyebrows are just as bad as they were when I went into Pelle Hair & Esthetics. read more
