i had a terrible hair cut from Alberto. i would never go back to him. He is really inexperienced.

`I had the worst haircut experience in my life where I left the salon crying. I went to Alberto for a haircut and I regret this decision. If there was an option to give less than a star I would. Let me start from there that I am e person who will always write a positive review when I am happy with a service. But today, for the firs time I will leave a bad one because what happened in the salon and the way the situation was handled upset me very much. I called on Monday and booked appointment for a haircut the same day with Alberto. I went and we had a long conversation what he will do. We decided he will cut my hair in U-shape form in the back and in the front-layers to frame the face. I have long, blond, straight hair and it tool me a lot of time to grew it out. He washed my hair and did scalp massage which was great. Then blow dried it, straighten it . That took almost 90% of the appointment time. Then, when he was cutting the hair, I did not see that he was doing what we agreed on. In my opinion, he has just lightly trimming the ends. So I asked him if he is cutting enough and he reassured me he was. I said that I don't see hair on the floor and he said that is because my hair is blond. I wear glasses that he asked me to remove during the whole process. I couldn't see what he was doing in the back and in the front there were no layers but he was nice and talking to me so I decided to let him do his job. When he finished cutting (which didn't take long), he said he will style my hair and proceeded to curl it. A service I didn't ask for. When he finished he showed me the back of my hair but with the curls I did not see a difference. I left the salon feeling confused. When I went back home I washed and straightened again my hair and I didn't see any difference that before my appointment. I asked my partner, I asked my coworkers the next day-no one saw layers or different style in my hair. I got really upset and felt gaslighted because the haircut was not cheap and it's something I cannot afford to do very often. So I called the salon and was explained that my option is to go back to Alberto to fix it, which i did the next day-today. I had a bad feeling about it cause he already did a bad job but I went back. So again we had the same conversation with him and he start cutting my hair. I've lived in many countries and went to many hairdressers in my life but never seen anyone cutting my hair like he did. And it's not the firs time I was doing layers so I was getting nervous when he started cutting my dry hair in the back. Then he used the blow drier to straighten the hair. And was cutting it in a straight line when we decided to to u-shape. I really didn't know what to do so I took my phone and showed him pics in google. Which was absurd at this point. Then he left the back (the lower layer cut short and the top was left longer) and proceeded to cut the right side of my hair. I have no idea what he was doing, all I could see it my hair getting chopped, in weird way so I asked him to call another hairstylist. His coworker came and challenged him why is he cutting my hair dry (I had the same question), then he listened to me and told him what to do. But I could still see that Alberto is nervous and don't know what to do. So I got very upset and asked if his colleague can fix my hair cause at this point I was scared that he will ruin my hair. I was told that no one else can do my hair and at this point I felt like I have no choice but to leave. So I asked for refund, his colleague (I didn't get his name) said there is no refund. So my options were to either let Alberto to "fix" my hair or leave. At this point, I have Alberto enough chances to experiment on my hair so I left the salon crying. Never in my life has this happened to me. The way the situation was handled just blew my mind. I still cannot believe that salon that charges $80 for a haircut can treat their customers like this. Thanks God, I managed to find another salon the same day and paid another hairdresser to fix my hair. She had to chop a lor of it to fix the damage Alberto left and she reassured me that I did the right thing when I left. So I wasted my money, my time, I was gaslighted and this whole experience left a bad impact on my mental health and on my hair. Wouldn't recommend to anyone going there. read more

Previously used a Groupon for the salon and received a nice hair cut. Needed a trim and was wondering why I didn't go back to this salon as had a $38 promo for a cut, wash, and style package. Make an appointment and they were able to fit me the very next day on a Sunday - great! Service was great and I received great attention and loved my hair stylist, Alberto. However, a $10 deposit was put on hold of my hair appointment and the salon has a sneaky practice of charging more if your hair "takes a lot of work" and etc. I asked how much the upcharge was and was told it "varied" and that the stylist had to see my hair before they determine. I totally get it but my hair was shoulder length and was nowhere near my waist but they ended up needing to charge me an extra $25 for my "long hair". I was already in the salon chair with my hair wet from the wash so felt like I had to go along with it. I did get a great cut from Alberto and loved him but what was supposed to be a $38 hair package ended up costing me over $65. In total, I spent over $85. I dislike the sneaky practice of upcharging and having hidden fees of an advertised haircut deal when they end up charging a regular hair cut rate of $65+. I would have gladly paid the price of a regular hair cut but to go in being told of a $38 special and end up paying almost double didn't sit well. I want the hairdresser to make a decent living but can't imagine an additional upcharge of $25 simply to cut my hair 4 inches and add some layers. The weird upcharge system is a bad business practice - I rather take my business elsewhere where the pricing is upfront and transparent. At all the other salons I've been to (I.e. Suki, Muse, Aveda, etc.) have never been asked for an upcharge or if there was, that would be discussed at the initial consultation prior to the wash. Love the service and work of the stylist (Alberto) but the upcharge practice will likely make me stay away. I now remember why I didn't go back to this salon after the Groupon, I had to pay an $20+ upcharge that last time too. read more

This is a new hair salon that opened in Olympic village giving a wonderful hair experience! I came here for a hair colour and really liked the attentiveness of the staff. They were professional and really listened to what you say. Some things I liked: -they have a big table with plugs for laptop, books -they have Netflix that you can watch so you won't be bored The best thing I liked about this place was the shampoo chair with lights. While your having a shampoo and scalp massage, the chair is also giving you a body massage. This is definitely a relaxing experience and I wanted to stay for hours! read more

This was the worst hair cut of my life. I went in asking for a straight clean cut bob. No layer, just a little bit above where a choker line would go and showed this Asian girl hairstylist (with wavy blue hair, didn't tell me her name) an old picture of myself with the exact hair style I wanted. This is the outcome!!! Are kidding me? You can't cute it even? The front look like it's gotten chewed up by a dog. And WAY too short than I wanted. You can't undone what you've done on a hair cut this short. You can see here I couldn't help but cried. read more

First time going to this salon and it was great! I went for a wash, cut and style. I was greeted by a very cheery receptionist, filled out a covid survey, and they sprayed me with alcohol. I also wore my own mask and gloves. My stylist was Sam and she listened to everything i had to say and made great suggestions. She gave me a relaxing wash with head and neck massage and explained every step of the haircut so i could make adjustments. The whole process took about 3 hours and cost me $60 with tip, which is more than fair (they also had a promotion going on). Had an amazing time and ill definitely be back :) read more

Silver 4 Salon - Great haircut by Sam! - Hair Salons Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I got a Groupon for a haircut, wash, "scalp treatment" and dry at this swanky, new salon, and I was really pleased with my whole experience here. Booking the appointment was super easy, and I gave myself extra time to get here today (since I wasn't sure of the area). There was ample metered parking spots available on W. 2nd Ave, in front of the salon. I was early, but the friendly receptionist directed me to a plush chair in a small waiting area and asked me if I wanted any coffee or tea (nice!). I was impressed that they had a wall-mounted cell phone charging station, and free wi-fi too. And the salon interior was fantastic: very "glam", with finishes in silver and glass. Think mirrors and silver and glass beaded curtains, silver glam wallpaper, silver glassed wall sconces and more. Really cool. I was seen immediately on time (again, nice!). My stylist was Joanna. She really listened to what I wanted and she inspected my hair and gave some recommendations. Next, she whisked me to the shampooing station. There they have these "chromotherapy" chairs that have a rigid light-emitting "halo" of sorts that circles one's head. Supposedly, the colors of lights that are emitted are therapeutic, with different colors eliciting different responses (i.e, calming, invigorating, restorative, motivating, etc.). IMO it's all bunk, akin to crystals, but hey, different strokes for different folks. The light halo remained a steadfast light blue throughout my hair shampooing session (the light didn't change colors). and I can't attest to being any more intuitive or sensitive - those traits that the blue color supposedly enhance), but the blue tone WAS relaxing and aesthetically pleasing to me. What was the BEST feature of this washing station was the chair's massage feature. The chair's footrest lifted upwards, putting me in a near-horizontal position and it automatically started a gentle rolling massage, from my legs up to my back. It was soothing and rhythmic (not jarring like those massage chairs when you get a pedicure), and I swear, I nearly fell asleep. And after the shampoo, I got a scalp massage and then my hair was wrapped in a hot towel, and all I can say is, this is what I imagine heaven feels like. My haircut came out wonderfully, and I was given a coupon for $20 off my next visit (which will come in handy, as prices are not cheap here. But you definitely get what you pay for, as the quality of the services and the products used - Kerastase - were all excellent). read more

Beware, Groupon hair cut package is a scam. Unless you have super short hair they will charge you double for the treatment mask. They won't allow you to refuse that part of the service. They have set it up in a way that you are guaranteed to have to pay huge surcharges. read more

The worst experience I've ever had to endure in my life at a salon/store. I bought the $84 voucher on Groupon for: Partial Balayage, Style, Wash, Massage and I was aware there is extra cost for toner and taxes. The stylist and I agreed on: 8 extra foils, and a hair cut with the total extra charge being 85 dollars extra. After sitting in the chair for 4Hours and 45minutes! For just a partial Balayage !! They told me that my bill is $185 on top of the Groupon charge. The manager guy said it was 60 for haircut, 60 for toner, and 40 for foils. I refused to pay the extra hundred, and he called the cops on me, then was behaving inappropriate. So I ended up paying an extra 195 after taxes and left the store Mortified. 1000% This place is Not recommended. read more

Stylist Joanne gave me a great experience at Silver 4 Salon. The salon looks very new and has some cool features like massage chairs with light above it and drawers to put your bag in during the haircut. It is a big space, but still feels cozy. The scalp massage was really great, and took at least 15 minutes! Joanne really took her time and did her best to make me feel relaxed, which definitely worked. The haircut was very good as well. Joanne didn't rush like other hairdressers sometimes do. The whole treatment took at least 1 hour and 15 minutes. Only downside was that I had to pay 12 dollars extra for the products, since my hair is longer than shoulder length. They should have mentioned it more clearly in the Groupon. But in total the costs were now 47 dollars which was still not much for a good haircut and massage. Maybe the hair salon should add these 10 dollars to the Groupon price so that it doesn't come as a surprise for the clients when they start the treatment. read more

I love my hair, I would love to say this is one of my best haircut I ever had in my life, thank you and I will come back!

I have long, thick, curly hair. Got a Groupon for the haircut (no colour). Very nice, luxurious treatment. The head massage on the fancy chairs are the best part! My stylist, Joanne, was wonderful. Polite and spent a good 5-10 minutes analyzing my hair and asking me questions about what I wanted before she did anything. Joanne consistently asked me if I was happy throughout my appointment, and I was! I know what I like and I hop around salons seeing who can do it best. This was a good one! One thing, because it was a Groupon, they added an extra $15 because I had longer hair (more work for stylist) which is stated in the fine print of the coupon and she told me on the phone and before she began working on my hair - so no issue, just good to know! Also they have me a $20 voucher for my next visit which is always nice. read more

Salon experience is nice but the hairstyle quality is low. My partial balayage is unevenly placed and it doesn't blend well with my roots. The blonde is brassy. Very expensive for bad technique. Also my haircut was completely crooked and I had to go back same day for J to straighten it. Spent $200 and it is upsetting because I will have to pay someone else again to fix it. read more

Kay (?) did a great job cutting my hair, he was professional and listened to my picky needs. The massage chairs at the shampoo station are nice, and the "deep conditioning" product he put on my hair that I bought as the Groupon package, made my hair feel soft and nice. The salon is also very swanky and modern. I am giving the salon experience 4 stars as it was good, however I think the Groupon is a bit of a rip off. I had to pay $25 extra because I have long hair. Woman on the phone when I booked said it would be max $15 extra, to which I agreed. $25 extra on top of of $38 groupon (plus tax and tip of course) is not a discounted experience. I understand I have longer hair so they need to use more product, but that's a little ridiculous. Had I known this, I wouldn't have tried a new salon, I would've gone somewhere I already know and trust, as it would be the same price anyways. I guess they are just trying to make some extra cash on this deal, but I felt a little taken advantage of. Overall good salon, maybe not worth buying groupon for though. read more

I visited Silver4Salon because I bought their groupon for partial highlights. However, I had to pay an extra $35 for toner and $20 to upgrade to a senior stylist. When I showed up for my appointment it took over an hour for them to start working on my hair. I asked for strawberry blonde highlights that would look very natural on my brown hair. The first result was great and I really did like the way it looked. However, two days later I washed my hair and the colour completely left my hair, leaving me with bleached white stripes down my hair. I asked them how this could've happened only days after dying it, and they blamed in on the fact I used Pantene shampoo. I understand that after time using a cheaper brand of shampoo might result in the loss of the dye in the hair, but I do not think it's true that from one wash all of the colour was to be striped. If it is in fact true, that the dye they use doesn't react well with Pantene, they should have specified that before I left the salon that day. They kindly told me they'd fix it, but blamed it on how my hair genetics don't work as well with dye. When they put the original colour I wanted back in, they didn't solely put in on the highlighted areas and instead all over the top layer of my head. I left the salon with BRIGHT orange hair. Because my hair isn't very dark, the colour absorbed not only in the highlighted areas, obviously. The colour is absolutely nowhere near what I wanted originally. When I asked them how this could be, they said because they toned in twice that it appeared way brighter and a different colour. As hair stylists, they should have considered this and applied a more subtle colour or at least run it by me. I am going to have to go somewhere else to get my hair dyed back to normal colour, because they are not willing to help me, as they say "that sometimes it doesn't turn out the way we want". Overall, I am so disappointed with this experience. If I am paying money for a cosmetic service, I expect it turn out how I pleased. read more
