Way too expensive patio furniture, 1500$ a lounger each. 2500$ a fire pit. But hell you walk into the next showroom where they have hot tubs. Well the hot tub 8,999$, so the one patio set we were looking at was going to be well over 9000$ for the pieces I would have needed for my patio. But for that price you can buy a hot tub. Devon at Pelican was amazing to work with! He set-up our 3 children with season ski and snowboard rentals; all excellent gear. He took the time to properly fit our youngest child and even did an expedited tune-up on all the skis. Pelican has the best rental prices around; so much so that a friend who works at Bear Creek was there at the same time getting rentals for her daughter. I bought at least 2 snowboards from Pelican when I first started, in the 1990's, and it was awesome to have another great experience decades later! read more

Horrible communication. Was ignored several times when I had questions for Chris, was told our hot tub would be in in 4-6 weeks, came in at 8 weeks and only because my emails and phone calls were ignored, so I showed up in person to find out where my hot tub was. I expected way better service when spending $7,500 on a product. Delivery was a breeze and we love the tub so far, but do not recommend Pelican due to the very terrible communication from sales reps. I once bought a hot tub there 20 years ago and received a great product with good customer service. I went back in March of 2023 and bought a pool. Nice quality at a good price. I even upgraded the ladder to a double sided step ladder with a gate. That was a little on the expensive side. Here's where it went down. The salesman did not have any specs for the pool. Several emails later and denied permits from my township, we finally got the information on the pool we needed. Here's why I would not recommend going to Pelican for a pool. If you don't have an installer they will recommend Ranson Fuels located in Richland. Ranson fuels has no business installing pools. None. Pelican recommends them and so I would have to say they must be aware of their shoddy workmanship and poor customer service. No one has time for that kind of aggravation. read more

Pelican delivered a patio set last Thursday to our place in Pipersville. Delivery guys did a great job with the set up of the furniture. No big deal- the crank for the umbrella was inadvertently left on the truck. I called Fri am and told them that I was planning on using the umbrella over the weekend and was busy with work and didn't have time to make the trip out to pick it up. By Friday afternoon, the crank was dropped off and sitting on my front porch. Well done, Pelican. That's how you have repeat customers. AK read more

The pool company was great. Helpful and knowledgeable and prices were good. I highly suggest not using the excavator that they suggest Ranson destroyed my backyard and we had to hire another company to fix the job. When we spoke to Pelican they passed us off to the excavation company while yes Pelican did not do they work they did contract this company to and should not of been so dismissive of our issue. read more

My spa has worked for 10 years and has only needed one repair last year which was only $600 and they finished it in one day and I have a spare heater to boot. They went out of their way to find one of the last controls available. Even came back that same day after chasing it down in New Jersey. What a team. read more

HORRIBLE establishment! Waited FOUR months for a hot tub cover. Within 30 days, the cover failed. Waited FOUR more weeks for new foam that they will NOT install for us. The manufacturer emailed me instructions on how to replace the foam. We asked them to please take back the cover as we are, OBVIOUSLY, extremely unhappy with the quality (and Pelican's customer service). They will not honor a return. They are incredibly rude on the phone and in their emails. Shop anywhere else for your hot tub needs! I would advise people not to buy anything from Pelican Pools of Quakertown. Chris, Manager of this location is a liar, unprofessional and unwilling to really listen and care. RUN!!!! I bought a pool from Pelican, Quakertown, Sept 2019. We purchased a turnkey product: pool, equipment, install, delivery, excavating, etc. It was to be installed mid-April 2020 however, COVID took place so I waited to connect. It seemed strange that the company has not reached out to me since I was scheduled to be number two of install for 2020, so I started making calls to Pelican. I had to leave multiple messages for the manager, Chris over a week time. Didn't get a return call, so I drove 35 minutes to the store the Friday of Memorial weekend. I was told he was in an appointment and could not meet me. I told the lady the situation and that I was going to wait whatever time it took to see Chris. Turns out he was not in a meeting or had an appointment. Chris was busy with inventory and talking to an employee. Prior to my arrival I spoke with the installer who said they have not received the paperwork for install so I was prepared for my conversation. The service lady and Chris both gave me the story how they already sent the info to the installers. Lie one. Chris insisted he was very busy and due to the holiday weekend he didn't have the time to look for my pool. He used COVID and short staff as reasoning why he couldn't take 5 minutes to acknowledge my calls. Chris is argumentative, does not take time to understand, process or communicate for even average customer service. At this point I called my husband to discuss particulars of the pool and ask a few questions we had lingering. I watched Chris handle things with an employee about an order being prepared, while my husband waited for over 6 minutes on the phone. This was while Chris KNEW it was my husband on the phone. Chris gave my husband the same song and dance. I reminded Chris we are a paying customer and I wanted my pool out for pick up on Sat or Sunday. He finally agreed. You can guess the call never came for a Sat or Sunday pick up. But you can be assured he lied again stating he left a message on my husband's phone on Sunday saying it was ready for pick up. There was no record of a call or voice mail from Chris. The saga continues. We call Tuesday after Memorial Day to remind them we are picking up our pool. Sat 5/30 my husband made two trips to pick up the entire pool and supplies. We saved Pelican the time and funds in delivering to us but that was not reduced on our final invoice. The install company has been installing pools for Pelican for 26 years. When the crew arrived 6/4 to open the pool boxes they said, "We have never seen this pool sold by Pelican. We are unfamiliar with it." We were then told that the install would be double the price because they had to bring more people for the install. Our invoice was written with $1400 for install. Now they want $2800. After working with install company, we got it reduced to $700 vs $1400 if my husband started putting pieces together. So he spent hours putting pieces together. I called Pelican same day the installers came and left but he wasn't in, nor could anyone else help me with the situation. When I called again the following day, Chris kept talking in circles like it was our responsibility and he had nothing to do with installation price. I reminded him that we purchased a turnkey package and pelican is the one who quoted it. I asked that he speak with the owner and work something out. He said, I'll call you by end of day. He did not. I called the following day 6/5. When he called back, he said he would not be crediting the cost difference for install and that he would just come pick up the pool. REALLY? That is the outcome? If summer wasn't upon us, they would get the pool back! Customer service is absolutely dreadful! Chris is not an appropriate manager. Try calling. Every person will say, I'm sorry, he's in an appointment. It is a lie. If Pelican can write up an sales agreement as a turnkey product and not stand by the pricing AND sell a pool they've had stored and don't sell to a consumer (who wouldn't know the difference) where is the customer service and trust in that???! We should have gone with the on-line pool company and hiring the same installers. Price would have been slightly lower. This is one of those times you buy local and get ripped off. read more

Horrible business! In 2014 we splurged and bought a $4500.00 patio set 'that would last us for years.' It didn't even make it one season. The finish started peeling off all 6 chairs and the table. Pelican's first response to the situation was to switch out our patio set with pieces they had at their store. Same issue occurred. The next year we were told that the products were defective and Pelican had stopped doing business with the manufacturer, but that the manufacture had sent them a new table, as a test of good faith, after 'fixing' the issue. Same thing happened with this table. We then asked that Pelican take the furniture back and refund the purchase. We were told that they do not do give cash back refunds, only store credit. We drove back up to Quakertown to see their selection. Nothing we saw was close to what we wanted. They gave us catalogs to review and suggested we try websites of their manufactures to see if we saw something we liked. Unfortunately we didn't find anything. So we called the manufacturer ourselves. We sent them photos. They agreed to a full refund and told us they would contact Pelican. So here we are now, with a junk patio set, in the last year of warranty (WHAT A JOKE!) and Pelican still refuses to give us a refund, even though the manufacturer was willing to refund them the purchase money. Don't trust Pelican or their products!!! read more

Summarily, Pelican rents low quality, occasionally downright unsafe equipment, and one of their managers is incredibly disrespectful. I had been renting from Pelican for the last few years because I found their prices to be reasonable compared to other shops in the area. The equipment was always sub-par to acceptable (always very, very old), but generally in passable working order. However, this year, I was rented a pair of ski boots which failed catastrophically. During a routine adjustment of the binding straps on each boot, they snapped in half. Literally, in half, into two pieces of plastic, rendering the boots completely unusable. When I returned them to Pelican and requested that I be refunded the cost of the boot rental, I ended up in a nearly 20 minute discussion with the manager on duty, Chris. He was dismissive, rude, and inconsiderate. At one point, he almost slipped, saying that the issue was "not imp[ortant enough]...uhh, not one of those things we deal with." Actually, Chris and Pelican, these are ex-actly the issues that you deal with. Ultimately, the boot rental was refunded, but I was treated very rudely and disrespectfully. They showed no concern for their customer. If this equipment had failed at speed while carving, I could have been seriously injured. This is not only bad business practice, it's simply unsafe. I gave them 5 tries..I feel stupid for it. I should have know after the first. Try #1: Aggressive spa sales man all but spits on me when he realizes I am just looking for info on what chemicals to purchase for the spa that was already at the house I just bought and not there to purchase a grossly overpriced spa with a built-in discotheque. I guess commission was an issue. He reluctantly and rudely went over what I needed and sold me a whole box of stuff at what turned out to be a ridiculously inflated price. Try #2: My family gets what seemed to be a mild chemical burn after using what Pelican's salesman sold to me during Try #1. I take a water sample and return to the store. I was told by a different employee (who was much nicer in the beginning), that I was sold the wrong stuff. I needed a different series of chemicals. So...I tried to return the stuff that they sold us, only to be told I can't return opened products! I was not in a mood to argue, so I just walked out. Went to a place a few miles north and left with what I needed, at a good price, and actually felt like they appreciated my business. Try #3: Nestor's in Quakertown closed their doors. They were my ski shop. So, Pelican is the closest remaining ski shop in my area. I took my skis in for a tune-up. These were only two seasons old and I had no more than 12 ski days on the set up. I was told my bindings were worn out, failed, and I needed new ones. I thought he was kidding. I asked them to check them again, and the guy almost flipped out about how they don't make mistakes and how I was going to break my leg using those bindings and wanted to show me new ones. I didn't bite and took the skis to Buckman's. Surprise! Everything was great. Still are...they just were checked again and are fine, even though Pelican said they were shot five seasons ago! Try #4: Last ski season I was interested in information about the season long rental program for my young daughter. Several of our ski club's members were using Pelican for their kids rentals. I did not like the age and condition of what Pelican was renting to them, but I thought maybe they offered a program with more modern and better quality skis. I stopped at Pelican to ask for information. I politely asked for information on the seasonal rental program, to which the employee barked "ALL THE INFORMATION IS ON OUR WEBSITE." I replied, yes I know but have additional questions and want to see the rental equipment. He barked again..."ALL OF THE INFORMATION IS ON OUR WEBSITE!". I left amazed at how a place like this is still in business. We ended up using seasonal rental at Blue Mountain, using great modern equipment at a good price. Try #5: My parents tried to buy a pool cover from these yahoos. They made them pay a $100 fee to have someone come measure. The " measure guy" and my Mom made the arrangements and all was well. Weeks go by and no call from Pelican. Mom asked me to help her check into it. I call the "measure guy" and was informed that his crew measured and turned the specs in 3 weeks ago. I stop into Pelican to check on progress as snow is in the forecast and still no cover, my Dad has passed on, and now Mom is worried about the pool. I find that the work order is still just tacked to the wall and nothing has been done with it. I asked him for a refund of the money and was refused because it was a "measure fee" and the measuring was done. So I asked for the measurements that were paid for and was told they could not be found. So again I asked for a refund and was refused. I stopped at the pool place a few miles North again....surprise! They measure for FREE and could come out next day! What a bunch of A holes at Pelican! read more
