Eppy was wonderful in diagnosing a problem on a 20 year old Maytag. He figured it out in 10 minutes and the part was ordered. Even though an old machine, Kleckners had 3 distributors to work with and it was replaced with excellence! Repair cost was very fair at $250 which included 2 visits, the part and repair. Another company wanted over $600 to come out with 2 guys and did not promise they could get the part, Superior Company! read more

I am saddened to announce the death of what was once an iconic, unbelievably supportive customer focused store. I've bought numerous appliances from this store. When I had a problem with a refrigerator years ago,, they were on it. They returned 2X until it was perfect. I referred everyone I knew to them. I recently paid over $2000 for a refrigerator that flooded my kitchen in less than 2 weeks. we had to keep a large bucket by the fridge and surround it with towels that, when saturated, were put into the bucket and washed while a new set of towels took their place. Repeated calls/messages to Kleckner were not returned. When I finally got thru to them, the responses expressed little to no concern. The manager gave me the manufacture phone number and when I expressed my panic that this water may extend past my kitchen and damage my hardwood floors? He told me that Kleckner would not be held responsibl, maybe the manufacturer would as Kleckner was no longer responsible after a successful delivery.! Thanks so much! Sales is great, they butter it all up. But they don't stand by their product. 4 service calls and we still have a non functioning washer. I'm told you should have purchased the extended warranty, and we can't do anything for you. Services calls over a week only to end up with ANOTHER service call and need for a new part. Matt from the service dept will talk over you make excuses and leave you to feel like the part not working or YOUR fault not theirs or the manufacturer. They do not stand by the products they sell or help you. This was my first time trying kleckners and it for sure is my last. I have a Speed Queen dryer that was in need of repair. I purchased the dryer at an appliance store that was in my neighborhood, however our local store went out of business & I had to find another repair service. I called Kleckner's since they are a Speed Queen dealer. Everyone that I dealt with from my first phone call & moving forward was courteous. The technician that came to our home to diagnose the problem & the one that came to do the repair were also courteous, professional & knowledgeable regarding the product they were servicing. We were sad to see our local shop close, but will absolutely deal with Kleckner & Sons for future appliance purchases. read more

I recently purchased a Maytag gas dryer from Kleckner & Sons after shopping at a few big-box stores and one other local appliance dealer. Both Kleckner & Sons and the other local store had less of a selection on display. None of the stores had gas dryers on their floor, I guess they're less popular. After shopping around I chose Kleckner & Sons, and I'm very glad I did. It did not occur to me to measure the width of the basement door where the dryer was to go. This is the third dryer I've purchased, and the first two fit OK. When Kleckner & Sons delivered the dryer, it turned out to be about 2 inches wider than the door. While still at my home, the delivery crew called the salesman to decide what to do. He said they'd try to figure something out and the dryer was taken back to the dealer. The next day the salesman called and wanted to set up a new delivery time. They sent a service tech with the delivery crew and he took the dryer half-way apart to get it through the door. They were very courteous, and did not charge extra for this difficult delivery. If you want an appliance dealer that goes "above and beyond" Kleckner & Sons is highly recommended. read more

I purchased a $3,400 GE refrigerator and a top of the line GE dishwasher that was the sale Well over $5,000!!! I called to talk to them about a washer and dryer they never even bothered to call me back!!! If you call that customer service from a local family-owned business I would never buy there again!! Doesn't seem like they care about repeat business so I will never buy anything there again!! By the way the first GE refrigerator that they sent did not work The compressor was an absolute failure so that tells me that general electric doesn't test their products well enough before they get shipped out to the customer! They had to take the old one out and put a new one in and that was not an easy proposition for me and it was basically an inconvenience that I shouldn't have to have gone through!! So they don't seem to appreciate their customers just like the big box stores You're just a schmuck buying an appliance And obviously they're not concerned about a repeat customer! read more

They are not always the cheapest, but when purchasing appliances you will use daily, isn't quality more important than cheap? You will recoup that cost in service later. They have always been very helpful with issues, even suggesting things to check prior to having to pay for a service trip, that's what you will never get at the big box stores. I can't count the number of people I know who thought they were doing the right thing by getting a better price at the big stores, only to have service nightmares later on because you have to deal with nationwide contracted service people who are backed up weeks, if not months. Everyone has always been friendly and courteous, from sales to to parts to service techs that come out. I highly recommend them! read more

I've purchased a maytag commercial grade washer and dryer from these guys when we moved into our new apartment. They didn't pressure us into buying something real expensive like a front loading washer which usually run into over $1200. I also went here to buy a window air conditioner for my apartment, and I have had real good luck with this store, and if I need any appliance I will sooner go to these guys before any store like Lowe's. Then again when I buy an appliance I want it to last for a long time, and should the need ever arise for a repair these guys will come out to repair it. read more

Their employees are out of line. 1. They basically told us they won't eat the cost because it's not their problem after they sold us a warranty. 2. when they did come to try and fix it, the guy told me it was fixed and rushed out. Guess what, still there's problems. Then when we call again a guy that claimed to be the owner laughed at my wife for being a front line nurse during the pandemic, and said he puts his life more at risk selling appliances. This company is a joke. Don't buy their warranties because they will not honor them. At least the big box stores will swap it out for you instead of screwing you over. read more

Quick, buy an entire house of appliances in one week! That sounds a bit scary, doesn't it?!? Luckily I sold appliances one summer in college, so at least I felt like I knew a little bit about what we were doing. We prefer to buy local, so we poked around online and in the phone book for all of the local appliance stores. We decided to stop by this location up in Whitehall since we had to head up to that part of town anyways (I have no clue why we didn't just go to the one in Emmaus since that's where our new home will be). While we weren't sold on a particular brand, we knew which brands we didn't want to buy, and we knew that we were focusing on higher end stainless appliances. This location has about half of the selection that you'll find at Best Buy. Is that a deal breaker? No. We were prepared to special order what we needed. However, I wish they would have maybe had a bit more to look at - even if you are going to special order, it's nice to see a broad selection of options within the brand. Anyways, Jack helped us on this visit. He was very friendly. We weren't really ready to buy that day, but he showed us what he had and gave us a few sheets on some models we liked. He said just to call us when we were ready to buy and he could price whatever we wanted over the phone We shopped around at a few other places and then dropped back by once we knew what we wanted. We were determined to buy from a local store, so we knew that it may mean paying a bit more. However, Kleckner & Sons was the highest quote we had on every piece we asked about, hands down. Nice folks, but I sure as heck wasn't going to pay MSRP on appliances. Plus they don't take credit cards...they do offer in house financing, but when you are in the process of buying a home, a credit inquiry isn't in the cards. And I don't really feel comfortable carrying in a few thousand in cash to any store...I like the protection that my card provides. So anyways, they are very friendly folks. They deliver for free. And they can even hook up gas. They were just not flexible at all on pricing in the KitchenAid or Jenn-Air lines, so it wasn't in the cards for us. If you were looking for a floor model, this is definitely a good place to look. They had a lot on the floor for sale & those prices were very reasonable. read more

Purchased a refrigerator with ice maker and left-hinged doors on April 7 during Customer Appreciation Sale. Delivery was scheduled for April 25. Called on April 24 to ask about delivery time. Was told that they couldn't tell me. Told I would have to wait until they called me the next day to give me an estimated delivery window. I never got a call. The refrigerator was finally delivered about 3:00. Even before they took the refrigerator off the truck, I saw that the door was dented. I immediately called Kleckner. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to get a new door. The delivery team installed the new refrigerator, however, it was not left-hinged as ordered, and so they had to disassemble the doors which they carried into my living room (across carpet, NO shoe protection on the carpet!). Turns out the refrigerator door also had numerous scuff marks and dark brown glue marks inside the refrigerator. It seemed like a "scratch and dent" refrigerator was being delivered trying to pass it off as new. Delivery of the new door was scheduled for May 13. They couldn't give me an estimated delivery time. Was told they would call when they were on their way. A second day of waiting around! Refrigerator door was replaced but glue marks were not removed. Again, called Kleckner. Was told they would get back to me. They never did. Summary: Prices for same exact refrigerator model, ice maker, and delivery would have been cheaper at a local big box store. Kleckner's trucks advertise "Quick Delivery" - it wasn't! Customer service didn't seem to understand why I should be upset about the delivery times, receiving a dented, scuffed, and marred refrigerator, or waiting a second time, all day to get a new door. Kleckner offered no compensation whatsoever for the frustration and inconvenience they caused. Instead, I was made to feel like I was out of line for expecting the timely delivery of an undamaged appliance. So much for supporting this small business. read more

We purchased a GE Washer & Dryer from Kleckners on 2/10/10. The dryer works perfectly but we always had trouble with the washer. This is Model WCVH6800J1WW. We can't even use the HIGH SPIN SPEED at all because the washer jumps around on the concrete floor and we also have trouble with the towels having an awful odor, like a mold or mildew smell. We called them & they came out twice. We wanted to return the washer for exchange and were told, since GE doesn't back their products, they would not do what we wanted. Obviously it is a defect in that model which can't be corrected. Now I know why they don't take credit cards and only check or cash since people have no recourse when they give a check or cash. I thought Kleckners was a reliable dealer because it always had been but since it was taken over by the kids, they are no longer reliable, it seems. I will never buy another product from Kleckners or another product from GE, not even a light bulb. read more

Went there after going to several other places looking for a dishwasher. Prices varied from place to place, but they were WAY above everyone else...until I told them I found it less expensive elsewhere (just about everyplace else for that matter). They did confirm the price from the other store and made an offer which I accepted. With the rebates currently being offered, I will come out very slightly ahead on this purchase. However, a new store has opened and they have the same dishwasher for much less. Am going to call Kleckners and see what their post purchase matching policy is. What I do like about Kleckners is that they come and do install/repairs, etc., not some third party. Will I go to them again? Possibly, but I know now not to let them "speed sell" me. Ask who the rebates are thru (I can't use PPL rebate). They do charge sales tax (don't roll it into the delivery fee as some companies do when they say "no sales tax"). The sales man said he "wasn't going to play that game" when I mentioned it. Like previous reviewer, I wanted to support a local shop and not some big box store. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. We bought a dishwasher here on Saturday and Devin George was the salesman who helped us. He is very knowledgable, patient and helpful. He went over the many features of the dishwashers we were interested in. Demonstrated the cleaning process of the machines, which now all have filters that must be cleaned. He let us take our time deciding and then set us up for delivery and installation. He was easy to work with and got us a great deal (because of the President's holiday, special pricing was available). We are big proponents of spending at local small businesses. I bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer and after two years of service, the dryer quit heating. Checking my paperwork, I noted that the warranty was still in effect. I then called Kleckner's and set up an appointment. The repair service was on-time and very good. During the repair (replaced a blown fuse), the technician noticed a small crack a the top panel of the unit. He said he would report it and let me know. About a week later, he returned and replaced the cracked panel. In summary, this was five star service, from the purchase at a fair price to these service calls. I will return to Kleckner's for my next appliance need. read more

We believe in buying local, and Kleckner's really played up what good service we would get from them. However, the installer who came to the house, smelled badly of b.o. and tobacco. He sweated, groaned, grunted, pushed, and shoved while doing the installation. My husband had to go upstairs because he couldn't bear to listen to our very expensive appliance being treated that way. The installer left lots of horribly greasy fingerprints on the brushed steel in plain view. I bought a couple of different cleaning products that were supposed to be good for brushed steel, and they could not shift the fingerprints. I called Kleckners to make a general complaint about the installer and to ask them what product I could use, and they put me on to their service department. The service guy was not at all apologetic about my bad experience, but suggested stainless steel wipes, which they do not stock. I went to four or five different stores until I found them, but they did work. Then, I discovered when refilling the dishwasher salt for the first time that there was a piece of the silverware basket in the bottom of the dishwasher. We had not even pulled it out or bumped it in any way, so it had to have happened during all those crash-bang-boom noises that occurred in installation. I could see that the piece was one of the two clips that holds the cutlery basket in place, and it was barely hanging on by just one clip. I called Kleckners, explained the situation, and asked them to send me a new silverware basket. They said they could neither send nor deliver it, but I could drive out to Whitehall and pick one up - it would be in within a few days, and they would call me when it arrived. I arranged to pick up at the Emmaus store because that was closer for me, but then they never called. So after waiting about a month, I called them back and complained, and again no apology. They did claim they had left a message on my home number, but my kids are too little to even reach the phone let alone mess with it, and my husband and I certainly did not pick up the message. I told them I'd bought with them for personal, local service and had experienced anything but. Instead of apologizing that I had not, they took the opportunity to drive home their philosophy by saying, "I have to disagree with you there and tell you that with us, you have someone to call." Well, if they don't deliver what they say they can or call when they say they will, what good is that? Next time, I will still try to buy local, but not from them. read more

Bought all of our appliances here. Big mistake. The GE appliances are the worse. They do not take credit at KLECKNER so once they get their money you deal with GE. Was sold a lemon of an oven, finally got a new one from GE after 3 service calls and a month of not being able to use my oven. Had to receive service in less then 9 months on the refrigerator. It was still under warranty, so KLECKNERS isn't quick to schedule an appointment, waited 3 weeks for service. The service man that came stenched of cigarette smoke and was hacking . I had to turn on the exhaust fan on my oven vent to get rid of the odor in my kitchen. It still wasn't fixed right but I will call the GE directly for service, don't want to wait another 3 weeks and have smelly repairmen in my kitchen. My GE dryer drum cracked, bought a new washer and dryer at Lowes , did not buy a GE. Will only be purchasing appliances at places where I can use a credit card, I at least have some power to get my money back or a new appliance. read more

We purchased a Speed Queen Washer and Dryer. Our sales associate was a lovely gentlemen and reinforced our belief that this manufacturer was considered excellent. The two gentlemen who came to hook up these two machines were pleasant, although they ultimately tossed out the standpipe adapter which they said we did not need. Told to keep a round holder for the dryer which would be needed if we moved it. They did a quick water check up (just water) and all was fine. Next day we did a wash and used a energy efficient detergent. Low and behold, bubbles came out of the connector rubber pipe and onto the wall and floors. We called Kleckner and they informed us that it was a plumbing problem. $500+ later, we had the plumbers (plural) from same company snake our pipe to rule out any interference; they then opened our wall to reconfigure our pipes. OMG. During this period, they called Kleckner and spoke with a co-owner and were not treated very cordially. I believe they felt they were finished with this sale and that was it By the way, our plumber did call Speed Queen for advice. At the same time, we went to Allentown Appliance to ask for advice. The sale associated told us ALL the particulars of the Speed Queen and said they were aware that there could be a problem with bubbles. Long story short. Allentown Appliance recommend a wonderful resource in Kevin Diehl who was very creative with what needed to be done Simultaneously, our plumber was told by Speed Queen that a stand pipe would be advantageous to us. It was explained that the delivery people tossed it; Speed Queen sent us one gratis. This manufacturer expels water very rapidly; 15 gallon per minute. We probably should have purchased a different manufacturer, such as Maytag (according to Allentown Appliance.) Mr. Diehl added the standpipe as well a creative connection to alleviate this problem. Next appliance will be purchased at Allentown Appliance, where we are sure to receive more detailed information about the product. By the way, nothing was wrong with our problem. Total cost? In Oct of 2015 we bought a GE Advantium microwave and we were told by Chip that if we paid Kleckner's to install it at a cost of $145 we would receive a $100 rebate. We had problems entering the rebate information on line and it took us till May to eventually fax the information to the rebate company. Due to a very busy summer I only recently had time to follow up with the rebate company. I was told there was no rebate for the microwave installation. I contacted Chip at Kleckner's and was very disappointed in his attitude regarding the situation. He obviously gave us bad information but would not admit to it nor offer to help us in any way. I had all the documentation to show that he had given us all the forms and rebate information but he would not take responsibility for the error in any way and was annoyed that I was questioning the error. We have bought a top of the line washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher and a gas range in addition to the microwave from Kleckner's but we WILL NOT buy anything else from Kleckner's due to this very poor experience. We try to buy local and will search for a new appliance store. Buyers BEWARE! read more
