Group of 4 went in at 7:15 on a Thursday night. There is a clipboard where you write your name. We went back a few times to try to find out how long the wait would be. No one to ask. Our wait was almost 2 hours. Food was good. Service was awful. No one bothered to clear plates. Servers would walk right by and just ignore the issue. Waited 20 mins just for the bill. read more

I had the seared shrimp, Wedge salad with house dressing, and a glass of white Zinfandel. The wedge salad was basically just a wedge of iceberg lettuce, however, the house creamy garlic dressing made it delicious. The creamy dressing paired nicely with the Crispy lettuce. I ordered the seared shrimp and it came with a baked sweet potato. The shrimp were crispy but not like typical fried shrimp. The shrimp were light and the batter contained some fresh herbs and garlic. The wine was just your average house wine, and was probably Sutter Home or Kendall Jackson. Other family members enjoyed their dinners as well. Someone ordered the coconut shrimp, but I thought that they were a bit over- breaded. I was told that the pineapple dipping sauce was very good. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere is not much to discuss. The tables were basic with plastic chairs. Overall, the food was good. read more

Stopped in while on vacation to Marco Island. Great food, I had the grilled chicken breast - they were cooked perfectly and tasted delightful. The rest of my family got the fish of the day which was orange roughy, and they said that is tasted great! I can also second that because I tasted some of theirs and thought it was quite good! This is one of our very favorite SW Florida restaurants. They are a small, casual restaurant on Isle of Capri. They have the very best fresh fish and seafood. It is not very often I will order fried seafood over grilled or blackened but at Pelican Bend it is awesome! Very delicate batter and fried to perfection. My husband and daughter shared a platter with oysters, frog legs, clams, and scallop while my daughter and I each had a smaller platter with scallops shrimp and clams. The oysters were premium sized as were the scallops. The service was very good and everyone is super nice and helpful. We will return on our next SW FL trip! read more

Our party of 6 (3 couples) visited the Resturant last night. This was the first visit for three of the people and our rave reviews from many prior visits had everyone anticipating a great experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Our waitress was not very accommodating starting with refusing to make separate checks for each couple. Actually, she was extremely rude. The sautéed fish was excellent as usual, however, two members of our party ordered the sautéed shrimp and it was undercooked. When the bill came we were overcharged for a half pitcher of beer. With no apology and acting very put out, the waitress corrected the bill. Since one couple was paying with cash and two of us with credit cards it became a hassle. We told the waitress what amounts to put on the credit cards and she completely screwed it up. This could have easily been avoided by simply honoring our request for separate checks. Despite the experience the waitress received a 20% tip. I'm not sure why, as I know two of our party will not return and our next experience will have to be stellar or it will be our last as well. read more

Their catch of the day fish is amazing! Very lightly battered and pan friend with lemon. I had white roughy and my husband had red snapper. Both extremely fresh and delicious! The fillet are large, come hungry. Also the wedge salad with house creamy garlic dressing was actually really delicious too, and I'm not a big fan of iceberg lettuce. Let's start with first impressions when walking in. Windows were tinted so dark, you couldn't tell that it was light outside. Very old decor with plastic cafeteria style chairs and old tables. Also had a strange odor when I walked in. There was not a memorable dish that our family had. The hush puppies were hard, dry, and flaking. The wedge salad dressing was bland, and the shrimp and scallops were dry and chewy and did not taste fresh. If you are looking for a restaurant with water views while you are eating, you won't get it here. read more

Been going to Pelican Bend for a few years and their sautéed fish has become the gold standard for which I measure all fish against. It's one of the few places where I always order the same thing -- Fish of the Day upgraded to the snapper. Hush puppies are a nice appetizer. It's family owned and their wait staff has always been super courteous. Reasonably priced for a delicious fish dinner. Nice atmosphere that is very laid back. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a "local" and the food was very good. Had a late lunch there twice. The first time had the shrimp platter (shrimp lightly battered and very good) which had fries & coleslaw and my wife had the fish basket. The fish was mild and lightly battered & my wife substituted the fries for onion rings for $2 more. We sat outside overlooking the bay as the weather was beautiful. Our server was very nice and attentive who actually served us a bowl of seafood chowder & crackers as we waited for our food. On our second visit we both ordered the fish baskets as the fish was the best & and order of conch fritters...again a great meal and great weather. read more

We have eaten here several times under recommendation from people to try their sautéed fish which is their speciality apparently. To us it is completely underwhelming - just salty fish. Very salty. Not much creativity there. The scallops are also salty and pale and swimming in liquid. They are not grilled or buttery like you might expect. The wait staff is not friendly and extremely slow so expect to spend hours there. The wine is cheap and the beer selection narrow. The salad selection is very poor, unless you like iceberg. The decor, if you are going for atmosphere with your dinner, is circa 1980's, maybe 1990, grandmother's basement family room. It is badly in need of new management to freshen up the look to get it up with current times and healthier eating habits of the younger people. The older people seem to love it though as there is always a long line at 5 p.m. to get in. There are much better places to spend your money. read more

My favorite place to eat in this area ! The best piece of fish I have ever eaten. Get the Pan Sautéed fish and ask for a little extra garlic. Incredible ! The wedge salad with homemade Bleu Cheese Dressing is awesome too. The Key Lime pie was good, but still a little frozen. I have and will drive an hour to eat here while on vacation. Make sure you get there early (4:30ish) to get in on the first seating or you will wait ! read more

Zero stars. Very disorganized. After standing in line, being seated by the hostess, given menus and served water, our group of four was told we had to give up our table for another party. No offers for any kind of compensation (free drinks while we wait, etc.) for the inconvenience. The restaurant had just opened, so we would have needed to wait more than an hour to allow time for another group to order, eat and pay. Needless to say, we found a different restaurant that was very happy to serve us. Won't go back. read more

I really wonder if people are leaving reviews for two different restaurants . This was literal the worst meal we've had in southwest FL Our server was named sunny, but her attitude was anything but. I just couldn't believe that we had actually paid $17 each for their orange roughy that laid in a plate of oil, a small undercooked baked potato, and a literal wedge of lettuce. There is no cheese, bacon, or anything, just a eighth piece of lettuce on a plate. It's not that it was terrible. It's hard to mess up a piece of iceberg lettuce, but I just feel duped when you could go to naples, to a hole in the wall Cuban restaurant, and get service and food for a price that could put most places on marco island to shame. If you're on vacation, go to naples for your hole in the wall meal. It's twenty more minutes, but you won't be cheated like you can be when you are anywhere near marco. If you like to waste money, go ahead and go here, but you are better off going to captain D's read more

In Naples after Irma decided to head to Marco for the day. Looked up restaurants and many are still closed from storm so we decided on Isle of Capris area. We picked Pelican Bend and dinner didn't start till 5 so we stopped at another bar and enjoyed happy hour and a couple of appetizers to hold us over. Arrived around 5 seated right away. We told them it was our first time and the staff thoroughly explained the menu with emphasis on their house speciality Sautéed fish, homemade garlic dressing and everything else. I ordered the fish special, husband fish chowder and friend the chocolate mouse pie. Mouthwatering doesn't even describe how succulent and fresh and down right delicious their house fish special is. The hush puppies were the best we have EVER had. We are from Chicago and have a foodie reputation but we all agreed this might be the best restaurant near Naples we have ever eaten at. Yesterday, 1/1/13, we decided to go to Pelican Bend. We once tried to get in last year and it was so crowded we left because they do not take reservations. We (2 people) were happy to be seated at approximately 8 pm. I was shocked at the restaurant itself. Dark, dumpy, plastic chairs. My table had a huge chip off the end. Obviously owners do not put anything into the restaurant only take out. FOOD . . . OMG, it was near the top of my worst restaurants EVER!!!!! Almost burned so-called Coconut Shrimp! The coconut part came in by a dip over-sweet with coconut in it, otherwise I paid for the regular shrimp. This disgusting dip was a $1.00 more. The shrimp were tiny, over-fried (very dark, to burnt) and the waitress agreed. Since my partner was already eating his way-to-rare steak I decided to bit the bullet and asked for cocktail sauce and ate most of these ridiculous shrimp. Even Perkins serves better. No bread, no rolls, no effort put into a decent salad only providing a salad wedge but it was OK, but you know you get all the hard white parts with a wedge. 1/2 cafe of house red wine was decently priced but OMG it was almost hot and NOT room temp. Needless to say very, very, very dissatisfied with what I would call a "dump". Sorry Pelican Bend. read more

We're regular annual visitors to this great spot. This year will be the last, however. Arrive at 6:00, told 1 hr wait. Waited 2 hrs. They insisted at putting 5 of us at a table for 4--person on the end had to move every time a server came through or another patron wanted to get up. Took our order after about 10 minutes, then walked over to a table of 12 the took their order (a good 10 minutes) before turning our's in. Half the people inside sitting at tables with no food. Lots of angry frustrated faces--including staff. Took our order wrong, delivered only 4 entries for the 5 of us, then had the guts to charge us for the cole-slaw the shorted person ate before the other 4 of us shared our dinners. Left after literally 3 1/2 hours in the company of grumpy people. Food was below average that night as well. Perhaps there was a mutiny in the kitchen? Who knows? Last time we're driving into the Everglades for this experience! read more
