Our first day in Spain was a Sunday, so most places were closed. Yes, it's hard to believe, but they have their priorities here. Pelai, being in the Hotel Catalonia Ramblas, was thankfully open for business. The staff was awesome and took us without a reservation. We had our children with us and luckily they had a kid's menu (pizza, grilled chicken, etc.). House wine (red or white) was included for free with the meal! They really bailed us out.
Then came the food, which was really very good. We ended up getting the tasting/chef's menu. The croquettes were amazing, as well as the jamon iberico and grilled octopus. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, but even average hotel food in Spain is 10x better than anything you'd get in the States at half the price. It came out to about 100 Euros. Definitely worth a look. read more
