So this place was rebuilt after a terrible car accident a few months ago, I'm so glad to see them back up and running! Reasonably priced, delicious dumplings. Multiple options for filling and toppings! And also the cutest little corner spot. I know they're working on remodeling, but prior to the accident they had board games and a record player where you could go ahead and put on whatever record you wanted to enjoy and sit around and play games with the people you love. This is definitely one of my favorite quick stops downtown. Hoping they get back up and running just like before! I'll be back.

Open for business! Happy for them.

I come down here periodically for lunch if I have enough time on my break. Pel'meni is located directly across from the Captain Cook Hotel on the corner of K St. and 5th Ave in downtown. The restaurant was closed for a period of time after a terrible accident earlier this year involving a truck. The entire storefront on the 5th Ave side was heavily damaged, but after a few months and a lot of support from the community, they reopened and the business is doing well again. The seating area looks good as new and the record collection complete with vinyl for anyone to play is back, but the stylus was broken on my most recent visit. Hopefully, they had it replaced so that customers can start playing vinyl again. The Dumplings are always delicious and made to order with Potato or Beef and your choice of toppings: Butter, Curry, Hot Sauce, Cilantro, or everything on the list! One of the more reasonably priced places in the downtown area. The owners and the employees are always super nice and they deserve the support they need after a terrible start to the year.

Very quick service. I love Russian dumplings. I got two orders. One meat one potato. It was clean, fast, and delicious. The serving size is smaller than the Juneau shop, and I didn't get any Rye bread. Plus, half the amount of butter and hot sauce. I've had the dumplings so many times, and this is the first time I didn't give 5 stars.

Came here on a late Sunday with the husband; not many places were open. Its been awhile since we had these Dumplings and we found out when talking to the person at the counter it's the same one we ate whenever we go to Bellingham. They get the dumplings from there. Price is quite reasonable. We got everything it in and got one potatoes and one beef. The sour cream balanced out everything. Quick service, simple menu. Since it was Sunday, it was relatively quiet for downtown. We enjoyed our food with the old fashion record player. Cute Little place. Good food. Fast service. Since it was Sunday, free downtown parking. Would recommend and will come back.

You might be wondering what a pelmeni dumpling is. Pelmeni are round dough dumplings with a juicy meat filling and are a classic Russian comfort food. They are made with a simple dough of flour, water, eggs, and salt, and are typically stuffed with a filling of ground pork, chicken, turkey, or beef seasoned with onions and salt and pepper. Pelmeni are boiled and then served with red wine vinegar, black pepper, and melted butter. Mushroom, sauerkraut, and vegetable fillings are also common in certain regions of Russia. This place served beef or potato dumplings, your choice. They were boiled then seasoned with butter and cilantro. There was sour cream in the fridge that you helped yourself to. All in all, they were delicious and unique and flavorful.

Had to try these dumplings. The dumplings themselves were stuffed with a bit of seasoned beef. Then they were boiled for a few minutes. When done they were topped with sauces of your choice. I selected melted butter and a side of sour cream. The dumplings were really good. Surprisingly light. Really full of flavor in every bite. Too bad, I was not able to get a mixed order of beef and potato dumplings. I asked the cashier and he said no. Now the cashier was really unfriendly. It might have been late (3PM) on a Monday, but he really seemed indifferent. He didn't greet me nor smile throughout the transaction.

Cam here multiple times during our Anchorage vacation because it was so delicious. We ate it once and a few days later felt like we had to bring our friends too. My husband and I got an order of the beef, an order of the potato, and a drink. Price: $20. Comes with bread. We got all toppings except cilantro (butter, curry powder, and hot sauce). The second time we came, we got the hot sauce on the side which I preferred. Pros: - I LOVE me a limited menu - it's always a green flag when restaurants do this cuz you KNOW that they've perfected their one dish. - The potato and beef were both amazing, but I actually liked the texture of the potato one more! - Sour cream available in the fridge, and it does an excellent job of cutting out the spiciness of the hot sauce - Great space inside, great for parties of 4 or less - super wide selection of legit records to choose and play from if you're waiting for your food - Open late! - Super affordable - Such a great little snack, or order 2 orders for a meal! - Just one super kind lady running the show Cons: - I wish they had an option to purchase a larger size haha, because they're so delicious.

I think this business could use a little attention, despite the fact that the Pelmenis are fantastic. The space is quite basic inside, large and open. Not really decorated in the Anchorage style as such, which is a lot of paintings, and Alaskiana all over the walls. Tables are quite spread out. Napkins are provided on the table in mismatched containers, and there's no silverware, it's plastic spoons. There is a very basic menu - a choice of beef or potato pelmeni, and the choice is in your toppings. The recommendation is "everything" ie cilantro, butter, curry, and hot sauce, or you can choose from those. There's a fridge with cans of soda, and sour cream dressing in the bottom, for your pelmenis. You also have the option to put on a record, on the turntable while you watch the guy cook the pelmenis or watch life go by out the large windows. It's not a huge collection of records but there is a few. I do like the old school touch, rather than "oh, here's my playlist" What comes to the table is a small styrofoam container of pelmenis, ready dressed, and with a half slice of dark rye, or maybe pumpernickel bread. This filled me with dismay, because i am a girl of large appetites, and i could easily have eaten 2 of these containers. I think a small choice of sides would improve the offerings immensely. I am not in any way disrespecting how delicious the pelmenis were. They were stupendous, and full of flavour, i got potato with "everything" on top, and he got beef with the curry sauce. He tasted mine and said he wished he got everything. I was inhaling these things so fast. I also recommend everything on top. It was banging!!! If there were some french fries, or a salad on offer with these, I'd have been a happy girl, well i was a happy girl, but i was still a bit hungry happy girl afterward. A few small touches would elevate this place to 5 stars. But I'm not sure if this is early days for them, if so, plenty of time to polish things up a little. If the pelmenis hadn't been so divine, I'd maybe have given 3 stars, but the food and service redeems everything else.

I recall going to Pel Meni many years ago, and a different location. I happened to drive by this spot one night on my at back from the cabin, it was open late, the lights were on and it looked super inviting. I FINALLY got to stop by and see what this place is all about....:and I ADORE it! TBH it didn't really feel like I was in Anchorage anymore, and it was a nice vibe. The dumplings were fantastic, I asked the guy prepping the food to make me his favorites and he did not disappoint. The place was BUSY, lots of people coming and going, a definite spot for the bar hoppers. The hidden gem of this little dumpling spot though.....is 100% the record collection! As soon as the record playing was done I was told it was cool to put anything I wanted on. I browsed the collection and picked out a few to choose from when it was my turn. Better than a jukebox!! I'm a total sucker for vinyl and was content to hang out, people watch, eat good food and listen to records. I will absolutely be going back.

Waiting for a fresh batch, listening to Humble Pie on vinyl.

I was glad they were open late. The dumplings (and we got the works, everything on top) were alright but probably over-hyped. It's possible our expectations were too high for what it is, but we tried both kinds and there wasn't a lot in the way of flavor. I did enjoy being able to put an old record on while waiting, we mostly stopped by while in Anchorage on our Alaska trip for the nostalgia/heritage and experience.

Was in Anchorage for a conference. I hail from Madison, WI which has its own iconic rocking pelmeni place and this place rivals it. Good dose of yummy dumplings and there's good vibes from the staff and little record set up in the corner. A very decent priced lunch for the area, and so yummy. Highly recommend.

Delicious, simple and unique. Great records to vibe music...wide open space tho I don't think there is a usable restroom?

Beef or potato how easy of a choice is that? Then you put on the yummy stuff. I love the sour cream, vinegar, Sriracha, and curry.
