First impressions matter, and unfortunately, ours started off cold -- no greeting when we entered, and the staff didn't seem interested or welcoming throughout the visit. We ordered the matcha and a vanilla toddy. BOBA and drinks: underwhelming. It was flavorless and oddly textured. With so many amazing boba places around, it's hard to justify coming back here. This is a really great spot - great coffee, superb tea selection, good snacks, some fun gifts, easy parking, and great staff. The environment is pleasant and I tend to like the music they play. I'm not sure what else you would need. I'm a cheap date and when I'm in Boulder on a weekday I tend to need somewhere to work. Great cafe with lots of options for drinks and food. I recently tried the blue bird sky boba off the summer menu and it was so good! I also like the strawberry boba, spicy green chai, and peace of mind tea. I actually don't like boba, but Pekoe does it so well that this is the only place I get it from. The interior is clean and well decorated. There's plenty of parking, and it's not too crowded or loud. Can't wait to go back again soon and try something else. read more

After driving by this tea house for about 4yrs, I finally ordered online and tried out their drinks. They did *not* disappoint!!! The Jazz Melon is a superb amazing jasmine tea and frozen honeydew melon drink that is incredibly light and tasty. I would have never even thought of this pairing and its been my new summer go to anytime I am in Boulder near Broadway. We also tried the Lavender Lemonade, which was just ok. The Thai Boba was really good. I also tried the Iced Forbidden Fruits tea and that was similarly decent. Nothing as special as the Jazz Melon. We also tried the Blood Orange Creamsicle which just had an odd after taste we didn't love. Then we tried the Polar Bean which was really tasty and great. They have all the alternative milks, and nothing upset my stomach that has dairy allergies so I was happy. Their online ordering system is great, very easy to use and they still offer curbside. Extremely nice staff and service was fast even tho there were several customers there waiting. This is now a firm Boulder favorite of mine. Terrific food, terrific drinks. All very natural. Would come back more if it weren't for the often terrible choice of loud music, dirty restroom and the attitude of the staff when I ask with a smile if someone would please clean the only free table that has half an acai bowl spill on it. The baristas are very friendly and welcoming though, don't get me wrong. Overall easily one of the best coffee/tea places I've been with a creative, healthy and not overwhelming selection. It might seem like an easy name, but the only name I want to call it is Peek-a-boo, which might pull in the wrong demographics or potential employees, but I guess I wouldn't mind... Despite being a place where I go for meetings, I have discovered that it is not the best place to meet for meetings. The coffee shop is small and narrow and you feel like you are in people's way when they are waiting in line to order. The chai is good and naturally sweet, and during the cold Colorado winters, this is a perfect introduction to the day. The free WiFi is a plus, but I do have to complain about the food. This place was a happy discovery for me a while ago. Don't let the strip mall setting deter you. It is a great little tea and coffee shop. Friendly helpful funky staff, very good tea and coffee selection and pretty good pastries. Like pretty much everything in Boulder it is a bit pricy but not too bad. I will certainly come back here next time I am in town. I particularly like their house blend chai. It has a bit of pepper in it which gives a nice kick to the drink. read more

I used to come here everyday to study, and I would order a nice, steaming, hot chai tea, or when I wanted something different, I'd order the Calm Sensation (tea latte). I can see this doing well in La La land, where everything that "looks" fly is always given a shot. This is Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf meets Pinkberry meets any one of your favorite So. Cal. boba cafes. Its actually very fly, but the sight of at least seven people browsing the internet with MacBooks was a tad bit disturbing. Thank god, only six of them were wearing Crocs. Okay okay...now on to the cafe... My sis and niece had the boba which tasted as good as any thing I've had south of the 91 freeway in LA. Then I again, I lack boba cred since it isn't my favorite thing to drink. Sipping tapioca balls through a straw just isn't my thing I guess. I had a mango acai smoothie. Pekoe sells Sambazon products so I knew this was gonna taste perfect. The consistency was perfect and neither the mango, nor the acai overpowered the drink. Basically, it hit the spot, yo. Like I said before, this is one-third Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Pekoe probably has them beat when it comes to their impressive selection of organic teas from around the world. Their tea menu was pretty overwhelming to say the least. The decor is Pinkberry done tastefully. Instead of modern blues, the walls are splashed with oranges and reds. There are small pieces of affordable (150 to 400 bucks) modern art for sale on the wall. Pekoe doesn't try to hit you over the head with designer modern furniture like Pinkberry. They surround you with an overall simple, yet sexy pastiche, while you sip on your tea and browse the internet with or without Crocs. The LOWDOWN Boulder, Colorado Style!! Minus 1 star for the MacBook androids overpopulating the seating area. Scary sight. Mid-twenty somethings reading their left-wing blogs while they sip on their boba. Nah, I'm just player-hating cuz I don't have one...yet. Plus 2 stars for being the one of the few places to get their so-cal on and serve boba. My sister appreciates that, guys!! Plus 1 star for the sexy decor. I can't help it...I'm a visual sucka - what can I say? Plus 1 star for my mango acai smoothie. My favorite drinks at Pekoe are the Green Buddha, preferably with soy milk and no whipped cream, or a nice hot pot of Jasmine Flower tea. Another thing: a small bag of the Jasmine Flower tea makes a nice gift for 'most anyone. The aroma is just amazing. Next time you're there ask to smell it! This is the very best place in Boulder to sit and read the Elephant Magazine. Since I don't have a Mac Book, I just read the Elephant when I am at Pekoe. They have a very pleasant ladies' room, too. And clean. The staff, which does change from time to time, is always pleasant and helpful, and remembers my regular(s), even though I don't go in terribly often. Interestingly, I usually feel better after having a tea drink here. Refreshed, more alive. Invigorated. I don't exactly fit in with the crowd that tends to hang here, but it doesn't seem to matter at all. read more

Been here twice and have been really happy with both experiences! First time I went in, I was looking for an oolong tea on a cold day and the staff was very friendly in helping me choose one. They have a large selection of loose leaf teas. I opted for the milky oolong and it was an awesome choice - highly recommend. Great place to sit and work, although the space is a little small and narrow. Music has been perfect each time I've gone and conducive to productivity. I tried their original milk tea boba and the flavor was nice and subtle. Tapioca was a little soft and they also ran out for the next customer, but just glad to find a place that serves bubble tea in Boulder. Prices were steep to me ($3 for a small tea after tax + tip) and over $5 for a medium bubble tea. Regardless, it's absolutely a place I will return to in the future to treat myself! Tips: - Check in on Yelp for $1 off your first drink there! - As other customers said, beware of the 2 hour parking that is heavily monitored. read more

In my travels, I came across this weird tea called Kukicha. It's basically twig tea, and has a very earthy flavor. I believe it's made from the twigs of the green tea plant. I like a good cup of kukicha. Which is why I like Pekoe... they have Kukicha tea available in bulk. In fact, they have lots of interesting teas in bulk, so now you know where to go to get your fix! Downside is that they don't take credit / debit card purchases under $5. Yeah, Sucks. And I believe it goes against Visa's policies. Very disappointing. I have been going to Pekoe for years. I ordered an iced herbal tea with just a splash of lemonade. I got mostly lemonade and it was so sweet, exactly what I didn't want. GENERAL TEA RANT: I am not a big fan of tea, which is not to be mistaken with Tea, which includes cucumber sandwiches, scones and hopefully strawberries. I especially dislike hot tea. I always mistime it and burn my mouth. Why must hot drinks be served quite so hot? I don't WANT to wait! My only reason for being here was meeting someone for an interview, and I assumed I should at least buy something to 'pay' for the seat. At least I could have something important to concentrate on while my tea cooled to a reasonable non-mouth-burning temperature. Which took about 35 minutes, incidentally. 35 minutes of having a drink taunt me. I bought it in order to drink it, and yet I must wait because it's currently undrinkable. ACTUAL REVIEW OF SHOP AND NOT A GENERAL RANT IN THIS PARAGRAPH: Fortunately they had a variety of non-caffeinated teas, which I obviously need because I'm spastic enough without the caffeine, and I got something with honey and an Egyptian sounding name, and a rather yummy kruller type pastry. Employees were friendly and helpful with my tea-newbie inquiries. The tea was decent. The kruller not too sweet, but just right. The shop was busy even on a snowy day, and rather warm. SPECIFIC SHOP RANT: What really blew my mind was that they served hot tea in an iced tea glass. Centuries of British and Chinese ingenuity and perfection of the teapot and cup tossed right out the window. Not only must I drink too-hot tea, I must grasp a smooth piece of rounded glass that is soon to be also hot, which then develops condensation to make the glass even more slippery. No teapot to keep the tea I haven't drunk yet hot as I work to cool the tea I'm about to drink in a separate, shallower cup with a nice handle away from the heat. Just a glass meant to hold a lot of ice and a plastic insert that holds the tea leaves for which they gave me nothing to place it on when I finally determined I could drink my tea. So, probably won't be back. I'm sure they're relieved. Hot tea in an iced tea glass . . . . *mutter* UPDATE: I received a private message from the owner, who provided the usual 'we want our customers to be happy' note and that I can always make special requests to make my cup 'right' for me, which was nice. I encouraged him to respond publicly to me here, although I don't know if that's still a thing businesses can do. I'm just not that interested in tea itself to make the trip back, but if anyone manages to get iced tea served in a teacup at the sip house, let me know. ;-) read more

For weird drinks they are number 1. Like a rooibos chai with out sweetener for example and the green buddha is awesome. Oh organic coffee, and agave sweeteners. The shops have a cool ambiance, clean modern, nice to hang out. I once had a coupon emailed that didn't need to be printed out & when I went to redeem it, well I got this "we won't honor this unless is been printed out" I HAD been a regular, so that was some pretty poor customer service. They are expensive expensive. It hurts to pay $4-$5 for pretty much every drink. All in all they are have a good niche going. Hope that helps. read more

Sadly, I haven't been to Pekoe in the last few months, but for three years I was a regular, once-a-week patron as I worked part-time in the neighborhood until recently. They've got a nice variety of fresh teas, but my favorite is the chai. Good stuff. And for a slight fee they'll add chocolate to any beverage. That's the way life should be. read more

5 stars for the taste of the coffee, my latte was really good, however 1 star off for the fact everything is served in disposable cups. When you come to sit at a coffee shop it's nice to have an actual cup, it changes the whole experience of drinking tea or coffee. I hate to give this place a poor review because the staff was great and helpful. My review is based solely on the bubble tea. I didn't like it. The tea itself was good but the tapioca was very bland. I've recently moved to Boulder from Lansing where I regularly had bubble tea at a place called Bubble Island. It's the first bubble tea I've ever had and the balls were light and sweet. I can't say the same about Pekoe. I will definitely go back to Pekoe because I'd like to try some more of the tea. However, I will not order the bubble tea again. read more
