For years I've ordered Hot and Shredded Chicken. it would be full of julienned carrots and celery. i had not had it in a while and ordered last week. There was barely 1 stalk of celery in it and instead they had sliced onion. I don't like much onion at all, so I picked it out. By the time I was done picking onion out, everyone agreed it was equivalent to a whole onion. TOO MUCH SND TOO OVERPOWERING. There was very little chicken. It tasted horrible. The place is filthy and I've always overlooked. Just more reasons to avoid this place. We need a good Chinese restaurant in Westmont. read more

Horrible service and over charging for basic foods. How do you add lettuce peas and carrots to chicken noodle soup and charge over $10 for chicken wings and only give the drumstick. Short changing and overcharging. Save your money and go to Osaka or lychee. Sizzling seafood work bar had NO TASTE. Lower grade vegetables, brown spots all over opaque in water. NOT SAUCE like it should be. The scallops were pure rubber, shrimp stringy and dry. Lobster was invisible as they failed to include it. Water chestnuts were even dry. When we called they would not allow us to speak to manager and pretended not to hear us. They hung up on me several times. Finally spoke to a "manager" who tried to sound superior to me and Deming to us. Will NEVER recommend this place again! read more

Wish I could find a Chinese restaurant that still makes authentic Chinese food. Got sick after eating. Drove 30min, spent $55 and got food like this. Fried rice should not have peas and carrots in it and they all serve it that way now. Shrimp with lobster sauce should not have peas, carrots, or mushrooms either. The shrimp still had the black intestinal track in it. Which is poop actually. Having worked in the food industry myself and as a personal chef, I almost never complain. This place is ridiculous though. It's quite obvious that all of their food is old and reheated. Ribs are burnt black and hard as a rock. Inedible waste of $55. They offered me a credit for the ribs, but who in their right mind would drive that far again for garbage food? The prices shown on the menu online are apparently old, so they charge more than what you see. We'll see if I end up with food poisoning from what I did try to eat. Absolutely disgusting!! So here is the update... it's been about 20 min and yes I am sick. I ate a few wings, pork fried rice, egg roll, Moo Goo Gai Pan, and Shrimp with "lobster sauce". Going to be spending my night in the bathroom I guess. Here's another update... just called to let them know that I got sick. First I was told that that's the way ribs are. I was then told that I have to bring the food back because "people will just eat the food and then claim they threw it away to get free food." So, if I want my money back I have to drive an hour round trip again, while hoping to make it without needing a restroom. read more

Ive been here before a d had the General Tso's Best General Tsos in town. Chicken perfectly crisp and the sweet n tangy sauce leaves you begging for more. This particular time i got triple delight. TO GO. Sauce was not nearly as flavorful and vegetables wayyyy over steamed. However with each meal comes an egg roll and chicken wing. Best Chinese chicken wing in town. And the hot and sour soup and wonton soup were very memorable. Service always excellent and prices fair. The restaurant is extremely small so eating in can be a bitch which is why i got it to go on this occasion. Next time ill just su k it up and eat in. Meal nay not gave been over steamed. All in all a great overall authentic Chinese experience with a fee memorable items on the menu. I will definitely be back!!! read more

Very good. Ordered takeout 1.2 miles away downtown. 50 minutes to deliver. Nice lady delivered. General Tso chicken was good as others have reviewed. Poor drink selection but that's most Chinese restaurants. Oh and menu not on Yelp had to look it up on some strange menu website. Two thumbs up overall. read more

I'm giving this a 5. 1- because they're food is really good, you get a lot of it for a reasonable price. Most times, the orange chicken is subpar at other establishments, but here- it's good quality 2- they're hot and sour soup. My dad is hard to please and he said it was the best soup he has ever had! Lord Jesus sometimes it's downright embarrassing to take my parents to dinner. (They're the type that something is never right and it takes too long) what can I say- they're old and cranky. Anyways, got off subject there. Our server was 2 days from giving birth and she looked miserable and I felt awful for her but bless her heart she was smiling and engaging and not once did we go without. Everyone has reviewed this spot that liked it said the liked the General Tso chicken. That is not Chinese food. that is out of a box and put in a deep fryer with sauce poured out of a jar. Extremely rude staff: they care little for their customers and degrade them regularly. Young woman working register is especially rude. They monopolize on being the only Chinese restaurant in this section of Johnstown; any newly opened competition would, surely, outshine them, as long as any theoretical restaurant puts total customer focus primary to employee attitudes. This place is horrible do not go here.I used to be a regular untill they started treating me terribly.When I ordered a delivery to my house,I got overcharged,no reimbursement apology or anything at all.The workers are EXTREMELY rude and thier chicken and duck are very dry,the duck is fatty too.At one point one of the workers criticized me and my girlfriend for no reason.At another time I was attempting to order delivery,and the woman yelled at me in an accent I could barely understand.I would not recommend this place to anyone at all.I don't know what happened to This place but it's a real shame because I used to love coming here now I go elsewhere.If I could give them less than one star I would! read more

Ordered takeout, make sure you check your orders. Got the whole way home to discover the vegetables were rotten, took them back up the female owner said that's how they come. I said then send it back. She said its like that, I asked for another one. The cooks were smiling and laughing when the woman was showing me the new product, I didn't trust them. I said I wanted my money back and she refused and started yelling at me. I will never ever go there again to be disrespected and feel uncomfortable. The food is generally good and the staff are nice. To be honest though, it could all be cleaner. It's off putting especially when peering back into the kitchen. Delivery takes a good bit because I believe only the owner drives. I've heard they reuse chips in bowls that weren't finished by the patron prior. I sure hope not. read more

I most vehemently disagree with Giovanni G. Peking Place was a great time. The staff were all very courteous and made it fun for our kids. The food was fantastic, and there we SO MUCH of it ! I am 320 pounds, and I could not eat it all. I got the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. Outstanding. The egg roll was a bit too hot at first, so I had to let it cool a bit before I could eat it, but otherwise, it was a very nice and satisfying meal. At the end of the meal, when I was completely stuffed, the owner himself came to our table with a plate of oranges that had been quartered. There was no charge for this. The oranges, I believe, are a Chinese good luck charm meant to give you a long, good life, but I may be mistaken on that point. How many other Chinese restaurants are there where the owner himself will come to your table and give you a free gift for no reason other than that you came to his restaurant ? The food was delicious, there was LOTS OF IT, and I can't stress enough how much I liked the place. I would definitely go back, and I would definititely take out-of-town business connections there in a heartbeat. They're closed Mondays, which kind of sucks because that is when I have a lot of lunch meetings, but that's life, I guess. Mike read more

A tiny little restaurant in the corner of a strip mall in Westmont, the atmosphere is casual but the food has been excellent. Very generous portions that yield two meals. I have had Empress Beef which had amazing spicy sauce, not blanded down like some Chinese places, but also not too spicy for my taste either, just nice and flavorful. It consisted of beef and scallops and surprisingly they were very generous with the sea (the bigger kind) scallops. They have been very generous with seafood; good quality seafood, something rare for casual Chinese places. I also have had Seafood Wor Bar and was pleasantly surprised by this; there were many huge chunks of real lobster along with shrimp and scallops in a delicious light sauce. The only thing I would change about the Empress Beef is the way the beef is prepared; most Chinese places have tender and thinly sliced beef but this place had thick chunks of beef, maybe it is my personal preference but other than that I thought the food was perfect.
