I'm a big fan of Chinese mustard, but beware: it will make you cry, both from enjoyment and from the pain of your sinuses lighting on fire. Worth it anyway. If you like egg rolls, they're a must. They're enormous and packed with the freshest ingredients. I always regret loading up on appetizers because I'm full before the real food shows up, and I do it every single time. I've had a lot of the noodle dishes and each one is better than the last. If you're a tea drinker, they have a huge selection. I'm sad to report that I ate too fast and only snapped pictures of the desserts. They were as exceptional as everything else. Service is A+. I just wish I lived a little closer. Or maybe not, because I'd gain 20 pounds. It's a must try. Trust me, you'll be back.

We got the lunch specials: Egg Drop Soup and Hot & Sour Soup-both were good! The General Tsao Chicken was solid. We got it with the side of Fried Rice and the Fried Rice was flavorless plus the Fried Spring Roll was nothing special. The Mapo Tofu with Minced Pork was good, but very salty. Needed to pair it with lots of steamed white rice to balance it out. We also had the half duck with buns. The duck was okay too, nothing crazy/special to it. Food was alright! The guy bartender was super chill and easy to talk to. The ambiance was also chill and moody as well. Would be opened to come back during happy hour/lunch time.

It wasn't busy. - I noticed the Red Bull rep chatting it up for what seemed like forever with the bartenders while nobody was asking us for drinks. - About 10 mins later we were asked "do you want anything?" Well, yes, we do..... that's why we came to a restaurant. - After we ordered, the GM (female) was hanging out for quite some time with 7-8 other employees at the bar while I was trying to flag someone down and get a fork (took much more time than it should have). - GM was frequently standing at the end of the bar, just texting rather than paying attention to the multiple needs of the customers sitting right in front of her. While the food was great, the service was TERRIBLE and we won't be back. From the GM to the bartenders, nobody cared. Nobody even thanked us upon leaving. There's no excuse for expecting kindness and awareness when one is out to dinner, this restaurant made us feel unimportant and unappreciated. I don't foresee this restaurant lasting much longer, it's a competitive world and there's so many other awesome restaurants.

And wow, the taste is the exact same. The decor is the exact same. The people are the exact same. It was truly a feeling of nostalgia that's hard to describe. My favorite dish has always been, and still is, the bamboo shoots with pork. It is so fragrant, umami, and simply delicious. The west lake soup is also a classic done so well - pro tip to add white pepper to give it a little kick. The steamed pork belly was okay - sauce is flavorful (a touch salty) along with the preserved greens but the pork wasn't as tender as I had remembered it. The fish filets are fried to perfection, full of salt/pepper flavor, and pairs well with the jalapeños. If you don't like fish, you can get the same flavor with the pork version of this dish, which I also really like. The service can be a little slow because it's just 1 chef and 1 waitress who own the restaurant - same people that have run the show since I first came here probably almost 30 years ago! Incredible to see them still working so hard and serving delicious food. They'll never know how much their restaurant and food means to me!

The lady working was sweet and was working her butt off with the 5 tables she had. Felt great to support a local business. The restaurant itself is out dated but the tables and utensils were clean. The atmosphere added to the experience and the background music was just perfection.

**This review is based on a Sunday evening to-go order.**…read more While these folks were polite on the phone and in-person -- and the restaurant was bright and clean when I came in to pick up my order -- I cannot recommend this place. First, I ordered the Chinese Fried Chicken (half), which is supposed to be brined in soy and hoisin, then deep fried in a light batter. This chicken was no more brined than a rock in the desert, and it was just as dry, even the dark meat pieces. The steamed rice was fine, as was the beautiful bok choy. The dish, overall was a huge disappointment. The chicken lo mein was also a letdown, as it had an underlying sweetness that I've never experienced with this dish. Two bites were taken and it (along with the chicken) ended up in the hotel trash can. A couple of positives: I enjoyed the hot & sour soup, and the egg rolls tasted as if they were rolled in-house, which is a rarity these days. I live a few hundred miles down the road and don't get to downtown Dallas very often, so the odds of me patronizing this place again is already slim. But, in the event I find myself here in the future, I will avoid this restaurant.
