But most of the food there is quite middling - the lo mein had a few cold spots, the veggies could have been executed a bit better, and the crab rangoons could have definitely been filled more. I got a piece of fried chicken breast. So moist, tender, and not greasy! It was the best fried chicken I have had in a long time. My husband got some chicken tenders and just as good. There was mashed potato & gravy and pasta with sauce. They had a fresh salad bar that was kept well stocked with a variety of dressings to choose from. The taco pizza was my favorite and then the pepperoni pizza. I took a bite out of the mac and cheese pizza, which wasn't too bad either. They also had breadsticks with marinara sauce. The salad bar looked fresh, and the dessert pizza looked amazing. They even let you order any kind of pizza for free, and they can bring you the entire pizza or just a set number of slices. How nice is that!! The service here is actually a lot better than I could imagine!! They constantly have someone wiping off the drippings and food from each station. They have someone sweeping the floor, wiping down tables, and removing dirty plates. They also have someone constantly refilling all the food. Most buffet places just ignore this stuff, but Pizza Ranch really does do a good job keeping the place as clean as they possibly can with kids everywhere. This place is ultimately a buffet, so I think expectations shouldn't be overly high, but overall, I would come back again. There was enough variation to make anyone happy.

They did offer a salmon selection, which would have excited me, but what was being served during my visit tasted as sad as it looked. Why 4 stars then? The place was clean, friendly, attentive without hovering, and accommodating when I requested extra coconut sauce, but mostly because of the shrimp. Their shrimp was done perfectly! I did not have to merely tolerate tiny, tough shrimp as found at most buffets, but instead, truly enjoyed medium/small shrimp generously included in the entrees, served alone (battered/fried in tempura, tossed in coconut sauce), and not overly coated butterflied n breaded. The shrimp made the visit worth it, but most of the other food was enjoyed as well. Wether or not I recommend a Chinese buffet usually depends on the egg roll, crab ragoon, egg drop soup, and egg foo yung. I was very happy with taste and size of egg rolls (they offered both spring roll and egg roll wraps) and ragoon. I was too excited about the shrimp to taste the soup, and, unfortunately, egg foo yung was not offered on the buffet. Overall, I did enjoy my quiet dinner alone and will absolutely visit again, perhaps with family or friends.
